The SpaceThe cottage is a detached unit in the rear of the property with easy access through a backyard gate. From here you have full use of the yard and everything it has to offer. This includes a cool, inviting swimming pool, with plenty of comfortable seating on the pool deck, just the thing to beat the heat during warm summer months. there is also a gas barbecue available. The cottage itself offers comfort and privacy. It has a studio layout which consists of a living/bedroom area, a bathroom, and a kitchen. The living/bedroom area contains a very comfortable queen bed, a single wide sofa bed which is quite comfortable for sitting and sleeping. The HD satelite TV ( which includes HBO, Showtime and other premium channels ) can be comfortably viewed from the bed and sofa. The room also has a desk which is stocked with brochures and guides to Chico and the surrounding area. the Kitchen is fully equipped with a refrigerator, four burner gas stove with oven, and a microwave. We offer full coffee service with an automatic drip brewer and a french press with grinder and whole beans (regular and decaf). There is also a table and four chairs. The bathroom contains a tiled, glass enclosed shower. Ample bath towels, hand towels, facecloths, and pool towels are provided. We also supply organic soaps, shampoos and conditioners. If eating in is your pleasure we have tried to provide all pots, pans and utensils you might need. Our home is on the property so we are available for any of your needs. We have lived here for over 30 years and we love our neighborhood. One great thing about living here is that we have formed lasting friendships with many of our neighbors. Also, we are very fortunate to be surrounded by family. Our daughter Erin and her husband Russell live across the street with their dachshund Peanut, several chickens, and two squirrels (rescued as babies on a windy day). Kay's sister Pat lives next door. Kay and Pat are both ceramic artists and Pat runs a fully equipped ceramic studio on her property, offering studio time to the public. Over the past several years, a number of people have become regulars and are now close friends. We believe we have created a warm, comfortable atmosphere, and hope we can add you to the list of friends we have made since becoming Airbnb hosts in 2014. Guest AccessGuests can have access to the pool, the yard, and on-street parking. We have a barbecue and a solar-powered clothes dryer (clothes-line). Interaction with GuestsWe live on the property in the main house so we are available at anytime of the day and night according to your needs. The NeighborhoodWe live in an area of Chico known by old timers as the Vecino district. Our immediate neighborhood is a quiet, long established one with older well kept homes, almost all of which are owner occupied. We have lived here since 1984 and have made lasting, close relationships with many of our neighbors. A great benefit of living in this area is, while quiet, it is still within walking distance of our beautiful downtown with it's many excellent shops and restaurants, the Saturday morning farmers market, Friday concerts in the Plaza ( during summertime ) and much more. Chico State University and Enloe Hospital are also a short walk away, as is lower Bidwell Park, a must see if time permits. Better yet, take the time to continue four miles up Lower Park to Upper Park which is carved into the beautiful canyons of the lower Sierra Nevada Mountains which come down to meet the eastern edge of Chico. Getting AroundChico is now served by Uber and has several cab companies as well as public bus service. We are in a beautiful neighborhood, centrally located within walking distance of downtown, the University, and Enloe Hospital. Other Things to NoteAs noted in the property description the cottage sleeps three. the main bed is a comfortable queen mattress with a memory foam pad. The second bed is a twin size typical sofa bed which shares the room with the queen. By all reports it is quite comfortable.
