The SpaceThe Cabin(house) is everything you'd think it should be. VERY comfortable with electric or wood stove for heat, (we supply the wood) Electricity, running water, bathrooms...just like your house, only difference is it is in the woods, and that is so cool. And it is at 9,000 feet of smog free, crystal clear mountain air. There is also a nice large fire pit and 4 private, no license required, fishing lakes within 10 minutes of the house. And it's our second home, so everything, including our clothes, are there. As well as games, books, silly decorations, bear rug on the wall, as well as several animal mounts. Deer, antelope, badger, pheasant, and more are mounted thru out. 1,000 square feet is the main floor and 400 sq feet up the loft. Two Queen beds downstairs, a queen and two twins upstairs. We've slept 17 there one CHRISTmas. A lot of little kids. Guest AccessOnce you arrive at the "Alpine Plateau Road" (county road 867) you are approx. 5.5 miles, on a dirt road, from the Cabin. (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps will take you right to it. 3 right hand turns and your there. (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Earth also will give you a great birds eye view of the cabin and surrounding area. You have access to (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)'s of acres of land. 4 privately owned lakes. We have a canoe you can use. Our property sits on 3 acres and you'll never see as many stars that you can see at 9,000 feet. And our "Grey Jays" (cousin to the Blue Jay) will literally eat out of your out stretched hand. Try it, the kids love it. Interaction with GuestsThe property is manned with 24/7/365, as in round the clock, Security. In an emergency call them at (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) or (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) (mobile) We also have others on the mountain that can and will be able to be of service, if the need arises. So you are away "from it all", but not on a desert island. We can always be reached at (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) (cell) (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) (office) I highly recommend we talk before your visit. Not to mention you need to know how to get the keys. The NeighborhoodGo to Go_gle Earth and locate the property. 780 Crest Dr Cimarron, Co 81220. And there it is, entirely surrounded by trees, and backs up to the federal BLM lands. Minutes from 4 fish-able lakes. 30 minutes from Gunnison and/or Montrose. 90 minutes from Telluride or Crested Butte. Approx 2 hours (100 miles) to Grand Junction and approx 4.5 hours (250) miles from Denver. Also, 5 miles away is a full service bed and breakfast, with complete restaurant and bar. When we have a lot of guests, some stay at the house and some stay at the Arrowhead Inn. Check it out. (URL HIDDEN) Getting AroundAs you will see on a map, there is no other way than to get there by your own transportation, whether it is a rental or not, you need a vehicle. "Generally" you can drive almost anything, right to the front door from May thru October. In the Winter it is ONLY accessible by snowmobiles. And winter can come early or come late. Watch the forecasts. The main road to the Arrowhead Inn (which is 5 miles away from our cabin) is open year round, as is the Inn. FYI. Snowmobiles are available for rent. Other Things to NoteWeather plays a huge roll when your elevation is over 9,000 feet. As summer winds down, be very aware of the forecasts, as they can change very quickly. Cell phone service, at the cabin, works great with AT&T, not so much with others. However, a short walk or drive back out of the property is what we call "Verison Point" and you can make calls from there.

The SpaceLovely mountain views, private, porches, cozy fireplace. Jacuzzi tub in Master bathroom. Beds for eleven, sofa bed for two and space for air mattresses on the floor. Guest AccessThe whole house. Interaction with GuestsWe will meet you upon arrival. Since we live 50 minutes away, we can be on hand should any problem arise. The NeighborhoodThe house is located in a subdivision (therefore not suitable for wild parties) half a mile up from Big Cimarron Rd, but still very private. Most of the neighbors are seasonal. Its very quiet and noise carries easily, due to that fact we ask that if you spend time outside you keep the noise level to a minimum after 10 pm. Due to subdivision rules we cannot park recreational vehicles on the property. Please, keep all vehicles in the driveway, not on the road. We also ask that you refrain from driving uphill on the road from the house, since there is no outlet up there. Getting AroundYou have to have a car, 4 wheel drive is a must in the winter. Lots to see and do in the area. Black Canyon National Park, the towns of Ouray, Telluride, Durango, Silverton, Gunnison and Crested Butte. National forest, fishing, and great hiking trails close to the house. In the winter, you can cross country ski, snowmobile, or snowshoe and sled right from the house. Other Things to NoteThe house is located 14 miles up Big Cimarron Road, an unpaved road, treated with Mag-Chlorid so its fairly hard. Due to the location being at 8700 feet and somewhat remote but not isolated, the cellular reception ceases about 2 miles before you get to the house. We have no WiFi or cable at the house. There is a house phone good for local calls, but for long distance you will need a phone card. For incoming calls the number is (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). There are board games, cards, and jigsaw puzzles for fun family times. The closest grocery store from the east is in Gunnison (75 min) and from the west it is in Montrose (50 min). When you buy your groceries ask them to pack the frozen items with dry ice, and it will be just fine.

The fully equipped kitchen has just about anything you'll need if cooking up some great meals is in your plan. Electric stove, microwave, dishwasher, and many small appliances. There's also a gas grill on the patio if the gang is up for some barbecuing. There is satellite TV available if you simply cannot unplug the outside world. The cell phone service is limited, but the Arrowhead Lodge is right down the road and has free WIFI available if you'd like to check in on your device and then you can check out the food and fun there. They offer a full menu and occasional weekend live music on a great outdoor stage. There are many outdoor activities to be had in the surrounding area. There are small lakes on the Arrowhead property for fishing or for the more serious angler there is world class fly fishing only a short drive away. The Blue Mesa Reservoir is Colorado's largest reservoir and offers boating, sailing, fishing, water skiing and wind surfing. Some great golf courses in Montrose, Gunnison, Ridgeway and Crested Butte are available for the golfers in the group. If you are bringing an ATV with you there are some trails for four wheeling. A beautiful drive to historic Lake City is a great way to spend an afternoon. The Black Canyon National Park offers spectacular views and is just a short drive away. Take in some scenic hiking and biking before returning for the evening horseshoe game, roaring campfire and traditional marshmallow roasting. At the end of your long day of sightseeing relax in the hot tub while gazing up at a million stars. It's about to be color changing time for the forest trees. This is a wonderful place to be to enjoy the fall leaves! This is a family cabin that is rented only when we are not using it so it has everything you would need for a peaceful, comfortable stay. The Arrowhead area is a gorgeous spot to come and Let it Be.

Guest AccessYou are welcome to the whole house, deck, garage, and driveway. I stay in the lower garage apartment or disappear into the mountains for awhile. Interaction with GuestsIf you're only staying a few days I'll probably make myself scarce and let you enjoy the peace and quiet. The serenity speaks for itself out here. If you're around for a bit longer we will have more interesting and meaningful contact. The NeighborhoodWe are one of a half-dozen properties that are sandwiched between the Buckhorn Ranch and BLM land. There's cows, deer, and I've seen a mountain lion near the house. Getting AroundThis is rural Colorado; things happen slower here which is why everybody loves it. We are 15-20 minutes from town either direction: Montrose or Ridgway. Sometimes it feels like five minutes from Ridgway because you're so happy about where you are and where things are going. Other Things to NoteThe cactus around here is particularly deceptive; keep your eyes to the ground if you wander around off trail.
