Interaction with GuestsI have traveled both in the US and abroad and have stayed in a number of different situations and met people from all different backgrounds. I enjoy meeting people and learning about them. I am very easy going and can be helpful and social if that is what you would like, and can suggest a number of activities or paces to go. I am also OK if you would prefer quietness and privacy. Just let me know. I like to travel and may be out of town for all or some of the time you are here. If that is the case one of my adult daughters or sisters will help out. I do enjoy going out in the evenings a few times a week for a variety. I kayak as much as I can during the warmer months. Please ask anything at all of me and I will see if I can help. The NeighborhoodMy home is in a quiet, residential area with a park down the street and a school across the other way. This is a good place for a walk, run or ride. The 205 bike path is just up the road and goes all the way into Vancouver, WA. It also connects with the Spring Water Corridor bike path. There is a Safeway, Starbucks, Subway, pizza place, frozen yogurt shop, gas station, Chinese Restaurant, hair and nail places, beauty salons, dry cleaners and laundry mat, internet coffee shop and convenience stores just up the street. This is a very safe place to live and easy to get to anywhere around. Downtown is about 20 minutes away, Mt Hood is less than an hour and is magnificent. The Oregon coast is about 1.5-2 hours away depending on where you are going. The Clackamas River Recreational area is close, as is Mt Hood for hiking and camping. There are rivers within minutes. I love this place! Getting AroundThere is the bus stop 3 minutes away that will connect to either the transit center or MAX which is just up at Clackamas Town Center and take you anywhere in town. TriMet has a good system. there are bike paths close, both the 205 path and Spring Water Corridor. By car it is quick to get into town or out of town if the urge is there. You can walk to the shopping area up the street.

The SpaceWe set up this five acre two bdrm ranch style for grandma and grandpa to stay at when they visit. When they're not here, it is available to guests by the weekend, week or month. One bdrm has a queen bed, the second has a twin and a bunk (twin over full). This is not a showpiece - just a cozy, comfortable place to relax and enjoy, but close enough in for some culture and sightseeing. Even more perfect if you are traveling through with your horses, as there is a 6 stall barn, fenced pasture and small indoor arena on the property. Sit out on the back deck in the evenings and watch the sun set over the pond and pastures. - Fully furnished - 40 inch TV w/BlueRay player and basic cable - Full kitchen - Washer/dryer - blow dryer, curling iron - WiFi There is no central air conditioning, as it is rarely needed in Oregon, but we do have a portable A/C unit that easily wheels around the house. The house is shaded, so it remains pretty comfortable - even on hot days. Note: Cell coverage is pretty sketchy at the house since it is out in the country. Several guests have mentioned they have to go out in the yard and stand on their head to make a phone call. Location: Redland area outside of Oregon City - Downtown Oregon City 6 mi - Downtown Portland 23 mi - Cannon Beach, OR 100 mi - Government Camp 47 mi - Multnomah Falls 40 mi

The NeighborhoodQuiet residential neighborhood with a park down the street, a school with grounds 1/2 a block away, Safeway, Starbucks, Subway, Papa John's Pizza, frozen yogurt, coffee shop, gas station, salon and nail place, 7-11 and dry cleaners just up the street. The SpaceLarge windows that look out into a generous, fenced, backyard give this room a wholesome natural light. This sunroom is painted a rich red and has the feel of an exotic sanctuary. There is a new comfy double bed this July. The room has a wardrobe with full length mirror, coffee table, bookshelf, loveseat for your comfort and enjoyment. Private door opens onto the backyard patio where a table and two chairs await. Smoking is OK out here, just please be mindful of open windows. French doors open into the dining room and kitchen area. The bathroom is down the hall. Two additional bedrooms across from the shared guest bathroom are available for rent also. They have traditional double size beds, are simply furnished with a night stand, dresser, shelves and desk with chair and can sleep two comfortably. Pets are welcome for an additional $5 a night. Guest AccessGuests have access to on site parking (first come first served), kitchen and dining area, washer and dryer, bathroom with shower, tub and hair dryer, and backyard. The Sunroom can be accessed through the front door and then through the french doors in the dining area. In the kitchen you can use any appliance or utensils you would like. Tea, bread and spreads, fruit, almond milk and cereal available in the mornings. Bike available for use upon request with bike lock. Books, DVD player and TV are for guest use. I do have HBO and starz. Dogs may be left outside in the fenced backyard or in a kennel while owners away unless first cleared. The bedroom at the end of the hall on the right is occupied and therefore off limits. I am very easy going and flexible. If you need something just ask. Interaction with GuestsI am new to this but can say I am very comfortable with people from all backgrounds. I have traveled both nationally and internationally and stayed in a variety of settings. If someone needs assistance in getting to know the area or what to do, where to go, I am more than happy to help. If someone likes privacy and would prefer little interaction, I am OK with that too. I would welcome conversation and love meeting new people, but am quite independent also. I work as an RN usually 5 long days a week and often am occupied in the evenings, and I may not be home every night. Really just let me know what you are comfortable with and I am sure I can accommodate. I may not be here during your whole stay but one of my lovely adult daughters will be checking in if I am gone more than one night. The NeighborhoodI moved to this neighborhood when my girls were school age because it has a park down the street and the grade school across the street. It is a good neighborhood to walk or go for a run. There is always someone walking their dogs down this street. There is a Safeway, Subway, Chinese restaurant, frozen yogurt shop, Starbucks, internet coffee shop, pizza place and convenience stores just up the street. This is a very safe residential neighborhood that has easy access to the rest of the Portland Metro area. Getting AroundThere is a bus stop just across the street near the school which can take you into town. TriMet has a good system but where I live the buses don't run as frequently or as late. There is the 205 bike path just up the street that goes all the way into Vancouver, Washington and connects with the Springwater Corridor bike path also. A great way to get around! I have a large driveway for your vehicle and there is quick access to I205, 213 and 224 so getting around by car is very easy. About 15-20 minutes to downtown Portland, less than 10 minutes form the Clackamas Town Center (there is a MAX line there), 5 minutes to downtown Milwaukie, less then an hour to Mt Hood, which is stunning, and an hour and half to the Oregon coast. The Clackamas River Recreational Area and Mt Hood National Forest are close for outdoor activities. This is the great Pacific NW so why not check out some of our natural areas and get wild! Other Things to NoteGreat value for someone who has a car or doesn't mind not being right in Portland proper. The house is a traditional ranch style home with 3 bedrooms, sunrroom with a new double bed , 2 baths (one for guests to share) large back yard. Bella, my daughters' older, almost blind min pin is a very good watch dog and quite proud of her abilities even though she is a bit shy at first. Use only the dead bolt on the front door please. I like to explore the doings and goings on around town, play a game of pool, hit a local bar, hang out with friends and family, try new places to eat. In warmer months I am often kayaking, camping, working in the yard, floating the Clackamas or road tripping. I sometimes have people over but don't entertain routinely.

The SpaceYour room has a lovely bed with luxuriously soft sheets and an ecologically friendly, locally made mattress. A chair, desk, and worklight are provided for those who might need to get a little work done. You'll also find a full-length mirror, lots of closet space with hangers, and ample blankets and pillows in your room. Forced air gas heat keeps you warm in the cold months, and in the summertime we place a fan in the room to help keep you comfortable. Your room is one of two furnished bedrooms available for rent, and it shares the bathroom with the other bedroom. We also use the other room as a guest bedroom when friends or family come to visit. So essentially, the bathroom is shared 99% of the time. Our 1947 home sits on a sloped lot and its large windows and French doors offer expansive views past the massive mature trees on our property, all the way to the trees on the other side of the Willamette River! We spend a lot of time at home and really love to nest, so expect to find comfy chairs and couches, warm lighting, and a mellow welcoming atmosphere. We are both artists, and the décor of the house both inspires us and represents our creative pursuits. IMPORTANT: We both have home studios and are often actively creating in the home. About check in: We are pretty flexible on this and are okay if you want to drop off stuff early. However, if you want to come in early, you may have to hang out in the living room and give us some extra time to make the room ready. We’re fine with that and so is our cat Bella, who will likely take the opportunity to solicit some pets from you. Check out times are pretty solid, however; we need time to prepare for our next guests. Guest AccessYou are welcome to use the kitchen while you stay with us. We are largely vegan at home (friends bring over non-vegan stuff and we don't judge), and our kitchen is well-stocked with everything you could possibly need to cook a lovely meal. We can also recommend some great restaurants if you'd prefer to dine out. We are very chill and welcome everyone (LGBT+ friendly). We want you to be as comfortable as possible, so please feel at home and make use of the living and dining area, kitchen, and washer/dryer, as well as our outdoor dining area and deck, hammock, swing, and barbecue when weather permits. Interaction with GuestsWe’d love to visit with you and hear about your adventures if you’re in the mood, but we understand the need for downtime and reflection while traveling, and will give you space. Basically, if we’re in a common area and you’re in a talking mood we’d love to swap stories, but otherwise it will be as if you have the place to yourself. We provide tea, coffee, fruit, and homemade muesli or oatmeal with a choice of vegan milks for your breakfasting pleasure. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is called Oak Grove and we love it because of the tree lined streets and easy river access. We’re close enough to downtown to still feel like we're a part of things, yet just far enough out that we can relax and breathe a little easier. Our home is tucked into its own wooded lot that makes you feel like you're in a treehouse, yet within three minutes of driving you can be at any number of restaurants or stores, and another five minutes will get you to one of the many parks along the river. Getting AroundDriving: When traffic is moving well we are about 20 minutes from downtown Portland by car. Mass transit: There's a bus stop right across the street from our house, and the bus will take you to a transit hub where you can hop on the light rail and zip downtown. However, please note that the bus stops running fairly early in the evening! If you'd like to check schedules, head over to Trimet's website. Lyft If you'd like to use Lyft to get around but haven't used it before, just ask and we can send you an invitation to sign up that will get you a discount on your first ride! Biking/Walking We are a short distance from the Trolley Trail, a bike and pedestrian path that will take you all the way to Oregon City to the east, or west into Sellwood to connect to the Springwater Corridor and on to downtown or all the way out to the country if you want a big adventure. Venturing out of the city If you are using mass transit/Lyft but interested in visiting one of the amazing natural areas outside of Portland such as Multnomah Falls or Mt. Hood, we might be able to drive you. Just ask and we’ll see what our schedule allows. We love showing people all that our little corner of the Pacific Northwest has to offer! Other Things to NoteWe want to help you look back on your Portland stay as one of your best trips ever. Want to go to a show? Rent a bike and head out on a ride? Shop for out-of-the-ordinary souvenirs? Get a tattoo? Find a farmer’s market? Check out a circus/aerialist/burlesque act? Sit in a park and read a book? Go for a hike? Eat some of the best food of your life? We can point you in any direction you want, and if you’re in the mood for company and we have the time, we might even join you. Other Tidbits of Info: 1) Hairdryer, towels, shampoo, soap, and all the other little necessities that you might have forgotten: we have it all here for you. 2) Tea and coffee: We drink both, and are happy to share. 3) If you’re around and we’re around, we’re probably going to try to feed you. 4) We keep our home very clean, and we wash all linens and clean the bathroom between every guest's stay because that's what we would want if we were guests. 5) We have a very sweet older cat named Bella who will be happy to love all up on you if you let her, or she will leave you alone if you keep the door to your room closed. We wash and store our linens away from her reach, and we keep the guest bedroom door closed after we’ve fixed up your room so she won't get fur on your bed. Nevertheless, if you have allergies this house is probably not for you. 6) We burn incense in the house on a regular basis. If you have environmental sensitivities that preclude enjoyment in such olfactory treats, you will need to look elsewhere. 7) If you have any special concerns or requests, click the "Contact Host" button above the pictures of our home, and we will do our best to accommodate you.

The SpaceBoth bedrooms are very spacious and tastefully decorated. One bedroom has a comfy full sized bed, and a very long, cozy and retro couch to sleep or relax on. There's also a big nice comfortable chair to sit and read by. A small folding table is in the antique closet to use as a desk, along with extra pillows and blankets. The second bedroom has a queen sized bed, and a comfortable recliner. It also has a small folding table to use for your electronic devices. The whole house is warm and inviting, with lots of vintage charm! Guest AccessYou'll have access to both bedrooms upstairs, a shared bathroom, gourmet kitchen, living room with Netflix, utility room, WiFi, and outdoor access to roam the farm this side of the pastures. If one of us are with you, we'd be happy to take your pics standing next to the cows, murals, or wherever you'd like on the farm. Interaction with GuestsI should be around most of the time to answer any questions you may have. We usually leave you alone, but we're more than happy to mingle with guests if they're in the mood. Dale (my husband of 32 years) and I have lived in the area our entire lives, so we know quite a few places to recommend for you to go see. The NeighborhoodAll of our neighbors have at least 20 acres, so it's private and spacious. There's plenty of outdoor activity to be enjoyed here. On the property, there's lots of sitting areas to hang out at, which some are covered. Oregon City is a historic town, the official 'End of the Oregon Trail'. There are museums 7 miles away, and pubs 2 miles away. Clackamette Park, where the Willamette and Clackamas river meet, has nice walking trails and tables to sit by the river. We are less than an hour from Mt. Hood ski resorts, and less than two hours to the Oregon Coast. Silver Falls is an hour south, and the Columbia Gorge and Multnomah Falls is 45 minutes north. Clackamas Town Center, a very large retail mall, and many restaurants is only 15 minutes away. Downtown Portland is about a 30 minute drive, depending on traffic. Getting AroundYou will need a car, motorcycle, or bicycle to get around. There is no bus or max service here, but there is a few miles away. There's always Uber though! Other Things to NoteWe do have 1 very mellow Lhasa/poodle mix, (Gus), and 3 indoor/outdoor cats (Brody, Barbie, and Butch), so you'll need to love animals! The cats won't bother you, and the dog is older and VERY laid back. And then of course, we have our 4 friendly Scottish Highland and Belted Galloway cows out back (Bovina, Cacao, Thelma, and Curly). Two of them should be having calves around Feb 2017. We also have a huge, fabulous fire pit out back, which Dale would be happy to help start for you (weather permitting). We have lots of guests who love to make s'mores out there. Plus, there's an extra building that you can hang out at out back which we call the 'Chicken Coop'. It's cozy, eclectic, enclosed, and has lots of comfy furniture. You'll love it! It's glamping at it's finest.

The SpaceOur vintage cottage is tastefully decorated, and has everything inside you'd expect for a bedroom. There is a cute sink set up next to the most adorable portapotty you'll ever see! It's next to the cottage in it's own little building. There is also a little bistro patio set on the other side, which will soon become a groovy little outdoor shower. Across the way is a covered patio that has a huge 12' table, chairs, as well as a small fridge, and Keurig coffee maker with all the supplies you'll need. Privacy blinds are in each window, and cute sitting areas outdoors are at your disposal as well. We even have a cool hang out building that's totally enclosed to relax in. The fire pit is to die for, and Dale always offers (weather permitting) to start you a little fire and offer up s'more makin's'. It's truly very unique. You'll honestly love it! It's very romantic, unique, and Soooo much better than camping!! Guest AccessYou'll have access to cottage, portapotty next to cottage, two covered outdoor patios with cozy furniture, 12 foot table and chairs, 'chicken coop' building with comfy furniture, and fire pit lounging area. No renters are allowed inside the pasture with cows without assistance from owners. Interaction with GuestsWe're happy to answer any questions at any time. Dianne is usually on the premises. We're very happy to mingle with our guests if they're in the mood to socialize. Otherwise, we respect your privacy and leave you alone. The NeighborhoodWe live in the country, though it's VERY close to businesses and Portland. Everyone here has at least 20 acres, so it's very private and serene. Other Things to NoteSince the outdoor shower isn't finished yet, you'll have access to ours in the mainhouse. No cats are allowed to stay here. We own 3 of them, who are in and out of the main house. They are not allowed in the cottage though. If you bring a dog, make sure it gets along well with other dogs, and does NOT chase cats. Your dog must remain outside the cottage though. If you want your clean and friendly dog indoors, you can bring them into our house for an extra $12 fee per night/day. There is a 1/2 acre pasture behind the cottage that is fully fenced to run around in. If your dog is 15 pounds or under though, they may find an escape hole in the farm fencing.
