The SpaceThis is a bedroom in our family home. It has a twin bed. There is another bedroom ("single/double") also listed on AirBnB, which might have one or two guests. The yard is a drought-tolerant work in progress, and we find sitting on the patio, or in the breezeway, to be quite pleasant. Guest AccessShared access to kitchen, laundry, yard, etc. Interaction with GuestsWe are low-key & friendly, and usually available for local info, chat, etc. If we are not at home, we are generally available electronically. It is a shared home, so there may be much or minimal interaction, according to mutual desires & scheduling. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood consists of 1960's-era single-family homes, and is generally a safe, quiet, and peaceful place to stay. It is a pleasant place to walk or run, and we are close to the Claremont Colleges (The closest is Harvey Mudd, at one mile; Pomona College is the farthest, at about 2 miles.) Getting AroundPublic transportation is not too good. However, the Metrolink Blue Line is about 2.2 miles away, which connects to Los Angeles & San Bernardino. The closest colleges (Harvey Mudd & Pitzer) are 1 mile away; the farthest (Pomona) is about 2 miles. Biking is excellent transportation; and we have parking for one car. Ontario airport is about a 20 minute drive away. Other Things to NoteIf we are not available at your arrival time, we have a realtor-type padlock, and will send you instructions for retrieving a key and letting yourself in. We have two cats: one extremely shy, and one who may or may not warm up to you. On most weekdays, I teach a couple of violin/viola lessons in the living room, finishing 6:30 at the latest.

The SpaceA little less than a mile to the Claremont Colleges and The Village. Recently remodeled, open floor plan, fully equipped kitchen, spacious living room, two roomy bedrooms one with a queen sized bed, the other with a full sized bed, a full bathroom, backyard with a well lit patio and two parking spaces. This is my home and I love it! My dog and I live here full time, but I have listed the property on Airbnb rather than have roommates again (trying something new). My bedroom, bath and garage are not listed so I can keep my personal things out of your way. I will not be on premise when my house is listed as available, but my parents live nearby and I or them will be on call for any questions or any unforeseen problems. The two bedrooms are roomy, but minimalist. One bedroom has a queen bed and the other has a full sized bed. The entire house has dual paned windows to keep any noise out, but each bedroom has two windows if you wanted to get a cross breeze. There is also central air and heat. The kitchen, living room and patio are great for a comfortable, sociable environment. The dining area sets in between the living room, kitchen and outdoor patio. There is plenty of space for outdoor dining on the patio. The propane BBQ is medium sized and is not top of the line but works! As I mentioned before, my dog lives full time at the house too. I will clean the house before your arrival and do my best to rid the house of all the dog hair, but just to a warning for those with pet allergies. The Claremont Colleges are less than a mile away; Pomona College and Claremont Graduate University are closest- only 5-6 blocks away. The walk is through pretty neighborhoods so it's easy not to notice the mile distance. The Village is also less than a mile away. The Village has bakeries, coffee shops, restaurants, bars, spas and retails shops to check out. It is also where the train depot is located, which you can pick up the metrolink to Union Station in LA. I may or may not be around town, but I rather have some guest interaction if only by text to see how your stay is going! Quaintest street in the Village! Obviously that is a subjective opinion but my street is in the shape of a U and my house is located at the bottom of the U. Its neighborly, kid friendly and peaceful. There is a the smallest amount of traffic noise coming from Indian Hill Blvd, but nothing that will keep you up at night. My driveway can accommodate two cars. Daytime street parking is no problem. Overnight street parking is allowed for three nights if you get a permit online from the Claremont Police Department. Ontario airport is about a 15 minute drive away. The metro station to DTLA is about a 15 minute walk or 5 minute drive. Guest AccessThe Claremont Colleges are less than a mile away; Pomona College and Claremont Graduate University are closest- only 5-6 blocks away. It's easy to walk to both of you don't mind being by foot for a couple of miles. You walk through pretty neighborhoods so it's easy not to notice the mile distance. The Village is also less than a mile away. The Village has restaurants, bars, spas and shops to check out. It also has the train depot, which you can pick up the metrolink to Union Station in LA. The SpaceThis is our recently renovated master bedroom and bath. The bath has double sinks, and a shower. We will clear out a little bit, but there will be signs of our occupancy. (Like a nice radio:) There are two other bedrooms also listed on AirBnB. If no one else has reserved them, you could book them through Airbnb and house 2-3 others. The yard is a drought-tolerant work in progress, and we find evenings on the patio to be quite pleasant. Guest AccessShared use of kitchen, laundry, living room, and yard. Parking for one vehicle. Interaction with GuestsWe will be away, but available by text, cell phone and/or email. There will be a weekly cleaning lady. In addition to daily feeding of the cats, our friendly and helpful neighbor will be handling room prep. The NeighborhoodThis is a quiet 1960's era neighborhood, with (for Southern California) large yards. Besides proximity to the Claremont Colleges, we are a 15 minute drive from the sometimes snow-capped San Bernardino Mountains. Getting AroundNot really. There is much within walking distance. And LOTS within biking distance. (You can park your bike in yard or garage.) Metrolink trains are about two miles away (in the Claremont Village.) These connect to many places in greater LA area. Other Things to NoteWe have two cats. One is somewhat shy, but the other can be quite friendly to visitors. Please include your picture in your AirBnB profile. It makes us feel much safer opening the door to someone we recognize!

The NeighborhoodWe are just two blocks away from the Claremont Colleges and the Claremont Village, which has lots of cute boutiques and restaurants and coffee shops. The SpaceYou enter the property through a gated courtyard that has a pool, lounge area, and tables. The house is very spacious and bright. Living, family, and dining rooms are connected with a round fireplace. Great views from the back yard! First bedroom has a queen bed and TV. Second bedroom has a double bed. There is a full bath and a half guest bathroom. Four people can sleep comfortably in the two bedrooms, and another couple can sleep on the two sofas. Guest AccessGuests have access to all the living areas, kitchen, outdoor spaces, as well as two of the bedrooms. We live in the house full-time, but make it available when we travel so the kitchen is fully stocked along with the linen closets and bathrooms. You'll have access to our washer and dryer as well as the pool (unheated). There is air conditioning/heat, wifi, and satallite TV. Guests will not have access to the master bedroom or the office, both of which will be locked. Interaction with GuestsWe'll likely be out of town during your stay, but we'll give you instructions for gaining access to the house if we are not there to meet with you. The NeighborhoodClaremont is a great town. You have to spend some time in the Village area! The house is just down the street from great hiking in a wilderness trail. We'll be happy to send you some recommendations for restaurants, bars, and shops. Getting AroundYou will likely want a car during your stay in Claremont. Though you can get to the Claremont Village via metro link from Downtown LA and there are a few Uber drivers in the area. There is parking for at least two cars in the driveway (you can't leave your car on the street overnight). Other Things to NoteThe pool in the courtyard does not have a gate around it so do not book if young children will be staying or visiting the property. Because this is our home, please be aware that if you are booking for only a few days we will likely have some food in the fridge and a few personal items around. The house was built in the 1960s and definitely has lots of character (like the round fireplace and funky fixtures) and it hasn't been through a major renovation.

The SpaceLovely, clean comfortable bedroom in a three bedroom, two bathroom home in a quiet neighbor. It's about a 10-15 minute walk to the Village or Claremont Colleges. Trader Joes is less than a mile if you wanted to grab groceries to put in the refrigerator. In the Village there is a train station (mile away) that can take you to downtown LA. Option to have the second bedroom if there are two guests. The second bedroom has a full size bed, desk and closet. It is next to the first bedroom and the guest bathroom. Guest AccessI have a lovely backyard with a patio to read in! Feel free to use the refrigerator and microwave and of course more of the kitchen if you let me know in advance. There is a Parking spot for one car. No need for a car though if you are here for the colleges because it walking distance or $5 uber. Interaction with GuestsThis bedroom is near a guest bathroom. My bedroom and my bathroom are on the opposite side of the house. Nobody else will use the bathroom listed with the bedroom. My work schedule is not a typical 9 to 5, so I am in and out of the house throughout the day. You may use the microwave and the refrigerator. If you would like to cook in the kitchen please let me know ahead of time. My sweet golden retriever pup will also be at the house. He would love if you would say hi -thats usually all he wants, then he will calm down. The NeighborhoodMy house is walking distance to grocery stores, colleges and restaurants. My neighbors are sweet and watchful of me and my place. The street is off the main road so there is little to no outsider traffic. Getting AroundOntario Airport is 15 minutes away. Easiest to get a taxi from Ontario to my house, I don't think über is legally allowed to pick up at the airport. Uber is usually available for pick up at my house. The metrolink train (in the Village) can take you to DTLA in 45 minutes. You can pick up the Flyaway bus at Union Station (DTLA) and take it straight to LAX for $7. If you are willing to get some exercise you can walk to the 5Cs, the Village, restaurants, grocery stores--all within a 10-15 minute walk. Claremont is so pretty, walking is always a treat.

The SpaceLocation, location, location! Close to the Claremont Colleges (walking distance, especially Harvey Mudd & Pitzer) Easy drive to Mt. Baldy and San Bernardino Mts. Quiet, peaceful room in a neighborhood of the same. More comfortable for one person, and with the possibility of a desk area. Two people also possible, with pop up trundle, and no room to fold out the desk area. Low-key, but friendly hosts (if you choose, and we are not off on our own adventures). Mid-century ranch house, with some updates, and some heritage touches. Pleasant outdoor seating and patio, given that we're in a major drought. Guest AccessShare a bathroom with (possibly) one other Airbnb room, and the occasional music student or ourselves. Shared use of kitchen, laundry, yard and common areas. Interaction with GuestsThe degree of interaction depends on your wishes and our schedule. Sometimes we're around a lot; sometimes not. Some guests like to keep to themselves, some not. We're ok, however it falls out. The NeighborhoodIt's a peaceful, quiet neighborhood. Walking is great here, and if you venture onto the sidewalks, there are nice views of the mountains. There are eating and drinking establishments within easy walking distance, and almost anything you want (including hiking and wilderness) within easy driving distance. Plus THE CLAREMONT COLLEGES! Getting AroundBasically, no. The Metrolink blue line is about 2 1/2 miles south. I've never found the bus service to be practical. (Partly because we're on a county line, and the bus lines divide here, too.). Walking or biking is good. (You can park your bike in our garage.) Driveway parking for one car is fine. (No overnight parking on the street in Claremont.) Other Things to NoteIn the interest of full disclosure, the litter box is in the hallway right by the door to this room. It doesn't bother most guests, and (unfortunately) that is the only workable spot for it.

The garden has two sitting areas that you are welcome to use. We have two standard poodles and one small poodle on the property but we keep them in the main house. We are careful when letting them out in the yard as they are excited to meet anyone new. You will be walking across the yard to access the cottage as in the pictures. This path is partly grass and may be uneven in areas but level. Parking is provided in the driveway. Interaction with GuestsWe are available by mobile phone and live in the main stone house right on the property. Should you need anything or have any questions we will do our best to help or answer in a timely fashion. Getting AroundOntario International Airport is about 15-20 min. from here. The 210 freeway and the 10 freeway are easily accessible from our location. Claremont Village Metrolink station is about 3 miles and there is parking there. The Claremont Colleges are about 2.5 miles from us. Other Things to NoteAlthough we are fairly new to Airbnb, we have been hosting The Garden Cottage here for some years. We have had many happy guests, lots of thank you notes, and many returning guests from around the world who have become extended family. Most of our guests are the visiting parents of students, instructors visiting the colleges and those visiting friends living here in Claremont and our surrounding neighbors of Upland, La Verne, Glendora and Rancho Cucamonga among others. As we are in a nitch of Claremont near the wilderness park, we do frequently have coyotes howling at night along with owls, fox, lots of bunnies and an occasional bobcat. We hope you will enjoy the solitude and the natural surroundings.

The NeighborhoodClaremont is a college town on the eastern border of Los Angeles County, California, United States, 32.5 miles (52.3 km) east of downtown Los Angeles. Claremont is located at the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains and Claremont Colleges are located there. Claremont is known for its many educational institutions, its tree-lined streets, and its historic buildings. In July 2007, it was rated by CNN/Money magazine as the fifth best place to live in the United States, and was the highest rated place in California on the list. Due to its large number of trees and residents with doctoral degrees, it is sometimes referred to as "The City of Trees and PhDs". The city is primarily residential, with a significant portion of its commercial activity revolving around "The Village", a popular collection of street-front small stores, boutiques, art galleries, offices, and restaurants adjacent to and west of the Claremont Colleges. The Village was expanded in 2007, adding a controversial multi-use development that includes a cinema, a boutique hotel, retail space, offices, and a parking structure on the site of an old citrus packing plant just west of Indian Hill Boulevard. Some critics say that the expansion negatively altered the original, small-town feel of The Village. Claremont has been a winner of the National Arbor Day Association's Tree City USA award for 22 consecutive years. When the city incorporated in 1907, local citizens started what has since become the city's tree-planting tradition. Claremont is one of the few remaining places in North America with American Elm trees that have not been exposed to Dutch elm disease. The stately trees line Indian Hill Boulevard in the vicinity of the city's Memorial Park. The Claremont Institute, a conservative think tank, is located there. Several retirement communities, among them Pilgrim Place, the Claremont Manor and Mt. San Antonio Gardens, are also located in Claremont. Getting AroundWalking distance to starter bros, sprouts farmer market, CVS, 7/11. One block away from trader joe's, and Wolfe's Market Place. Close by pizza, Thai, Mexican and Chinese restaurants. 1.5 miles from The village. Other Things to NoteThe futon bed measure as: 46.5 in X 80 in

Though you can get to the Claremont Village via metro link from Downtown LA and there are a few Lyft and Uber drivers in the area. There is parking for at least two cars in the driveway (you can't leave your car on the street overnight). Other Things to NoteThe pool in the courtyard does not have a gate around it so do not book if young children will be staying or visiting the property. We have a medium sized boxer mix dog. He is friendly, clean, and well behaved, but we will do our best to keep him in our master bedroom during your stay. Do not book if you are afraid of large dogs or have severe allergies.

The SpaceThe house is located on a quiet, tree-lined block. It is a perfect place for rest and respite or buckling down to work or study for a bit. There is also a well-stocked kitchen should you want to cook- I would recommend eating at the picnic table outside if the weather is nice! Guest AccessMake yourself at home. You'll have access to all rooms, a well-stocked kitchen, washer and dryer, and bicycles. Interaction with GuestsI'm more than happy to offer recommendations on things to do, feel free to ask!
