Privacy with a Big View! The modern floor plan with open spaces sits on top of the hill among the aspens, pines, spruce and fir trees with fantastic views of Lester Mountain (where the Steamboat Lake Ski Area used to be), the Beaver Creek and Willow Creek Valleys and Willow Creek Pass. The house has 5 bedrooms with 3 full baths and sleeps 14+. The expansive master has a king size bed with Tempur-Pedic mattress, a private bathroom with jetted tub, shower and two sinks. Also upstairs are two bedrooms each with queen-sized beds, which share a full bathroom. On the first floor are two very large bedrooms, one with a king sized bed, a portable crib and room for the double sized air mattress, the other has 3 sets of bunk beds, both with walk in closets, which share a full bath with a pocket door dividing the shower and the sinks area. We offer high quality, high thread count linens, most beds have down comforters in duvets. The kitchen has granite slab countertops with cabinets, doors and woodwork handmade from the trees taken from the property. There are all the customary appliances plus we have a large Vermont Castings Grill on the front porch, an electric skillet used for bacon and pancakes, Panini maker, coffee maker and grinder, Professional grade non-stick cookware with all the customary china, glass and silver. As you may be able to tell, we are cooks and the kitchen reflects our lifestyle. You will find a well-stocked pantry with spices, condiments, foil and bags, sugar, flour and we always have a big tin of hot chocolate. We use the property regularly and we appreciate not having to remember every small item. The main living area accommodates large groups; we regularly host my brothers’ families (6 adults, 8 kids, 4 dogs) plus my parents, which makes 16 humans. Just off the kitchen is an open dining area with a huge farmhouse table, made from wood reclaimed from my great uncle's barn in Del Norte, CO (near Durango). The open floor plan allows everybody to collect together even if they are spread through the kitchen, the main dining table or relaxing on the very comfortable couch, overstuffed chair with ottoman and rocking chairs that make up the living area around the wood burning fireplace. Also upstairs there is a reading room, just isolated enough to concentrate yet stay in the mix of activity in the rest of the house. Downstairs, in addition to the very quiet bedroom area, is a playroom with a pool/ping pong table. There is a large sectional couch with an entertainment center where we watch movies. There is also a gear room to store all the boots, coats, shoes and snow pants so they dry quickly and they aren’t cluttering up the rest of the house. I use the workbench there to tune skis. The garage is huge, large enough for two cars plus our toys. We provide a great canoe, a fishing kayak (good for lakes), a windsurfer board we use as a stand up, a couple of kids bikes, fishing poles, snow shoes and sleds for your safe use during your stay. The fireplace is a big hit during the winter, but the summer offers a big back deck, compete with Adirondack chairs and rolling stumps we use as tables. Down the back yard we have a fire pit for evening storytelling and s’mores. There is also a front porch, perfect for an outdoor lunch and makes a great viewing area for those pitching horse shoes. We prefer vacationers who plan on staying for a week or more and we are very accommodating to smaller groups who wish longer term rentals.

This property is for those desiring a true mountain getaway vacation but with enough amenities to provide for a comfortable retreat. The cabin is cozy yet roomy, is rustic in feel but has ample modern day comforts, offers great privacy but is one of the closest properties to Steamboat Lake and National Forests. The expansive deck provides extensive outdoor living space with a breathtaking view of Hahn’s Peak. Check out our semi stadium seated fire pit ideal for camp fire dinners and marshmallow roasting. Children will love the numerous “on property” activities including an outdoor “kids cabin”, playing horseshoes below the deck, our over-sized swing, and mountain biking on our trail. And when the family is ready to explore the surrounding areas finest attractions and recreational activities you won’t have to go far. The cabin is situated on 2 acres of wooded forest directly across from Steamboat Lake State Park and adjacent to National Forest where there are over 1 million acres of US Forest and State Park land at your disposal. You can walk to the lake following the Mill Creek Trail (about 0.5 miles) or take a 5 minute drive to Meadow Point on Steamboat Lake or continue a few more minutes and be at the marina. USFS access is directly behind the cabin or by USFS Road 42 about 0.25 miles from property. A den of four fox currently resides on the property and deer and elk are also frequently seen. Bald eagles, Great Heron, ducks, hummingbirds and Sand Hill Cranes are all present in the area. Your cabin also includes use of equipment to make your vacation memorable from our 2 seat kayak to mountain bikes to horseshoes to fishing equipment. Remember, this is also our vacation get away and is primarily used as such so we have a number of items available for use that are not listed. Make sure to call or email and we can address any specific vacation goals you might have. This is not a high volume rental property, we only rent a few times a year and no more than once in any 30 day period, and are looking for families wishing to experience this magical area of Colorado who will look out after our place. No partiers please.

Northstar Lodge is a spacious, rustic four bedroom, 3 full bath custom log home located in Clark, Colorado, 25 miles north of Steamboat Springs. We are in North Routt County, right in the heart of the area's best snowmobiling and cross country skiing, not to mention hiking, ice-fishing, fly-fishing and just relaxing. We are 20 miles south of the Wyoming border, and within 2 hours of some great day trips in the summer while the Wyoming roads are still open. Lately there has been a problem with notifications from VRBO. If you don't hear from me within a few hours of your inquiry, please email or text me directly, roselynnscott27@gmail.com or 817.807.6748. Also comma for some unknown reason, VRBO put "Glen Eden" under one of the pictures of our home... Glen Eden is a resort down the road... We cannot get them to remove it... We have been unable to get the map feature of this listing to accurately indicate our home's location, it is on 4 lots on the south side of Beaver Canyon where Clara Way intersects. With magnificent views of the Zirkle Mountains, it is designed for comfort and relaxation for families and larger groups. Our region is host to numerous outdoor activities for your enjoyment, including fishing and other water activities, hiking and biking, horseback riding and pack trips, snow-shoeing, and downhill skiing. All year long you can enjoy the refreshingly clean and clear air and countless stars like you may never have seen before. Summer is graced with Colorado's glorious wildflowers, and autumn plays host to all those spectacular aspens. The snow and evergreens make for a postcard perfect Christmas and Holiday season. There is no bad season here. We have several good restaurants nearby if you don't feel like cooking or driving to Steamboat. Several of the local restaurants have live music on weekends. The Hahn's Peak Cafe and the Hahn's Peak Roadhouse have delicious food at reasonable prices...happy hours, too. To the south is the Glen Eden Tavern and the Clark Store, our 'everything store'...in addition to the usual convenience foodstuffs, they have a delicious deli and coffee shop, library, post office, liquor store, gift shop and wi-fi spot. There are also plenty of current magazines near the old wood burning stove...you can read them while having a coffee and a snack.....watch for their home-made pies! In the summer, they have the ice-cream parlor on the outside deck....if you are early you can grab a Denver Post or the free local Steamboat Today newspaper. Our kitchen is ready for you to cook YOUR favorite dishes, and is well stocked with utensils and heavy duty stainless steel pots and pans, and several wonderful cast iron skillets, corn-bread pans and Dutch ovens. The deck and covered porch have plenty of chairs, a propane barbecue grill, and a couple of rustic tables for outdoor dining. All you need to bring is your food and drinks and your clothes and toiletries. The den can be closed off so that some guests can watch TV or videos without disturbing others. In the summer, you can watch the 'hummingbird wars' on the front porch. We have numerous bird feeders and birdseed that attract other local birds. Our home library contains books about the history of our area, about our wildflowers, birds, etc., in addition to plenty of other good reads. The back door leads to a perfect 2 mile hike...a loop that takes you to another view of the Zirkels, and also of Sand Mountain, Elk Mountain and more. We borrowed the name 'Trail of Tears' to describe the reaction of our grandkids when they were young....they would squall for the first half- mile or so because they wanted to be carried....now that they are older, they are the ones suggesting we go for our morning hike right after breakfast. In the aspens, you can frequently spot the gorgeous Colorado State flower, the blue and white columbine amid the tall ferns and evergreens. In the summer, we call Steamboat Lake our 'beach'...great place to take a picnic and go swimming. Hahn's Peak Lake and Pearl Lake are peaceful and beautiful, and with the right permit, you can go fishing, too. The Clark Store, Hahn's Peak Roadhouse and the Steamboat Lake Visitor's Center have the permit information and can sell you the permit needed. Hahn's Peak Village is just 4 miles north on Routt Co. 129. In addition to good food, you can check out some of the original turn of the last century miner's cabins, the one room school, the Jailhouse and more. Steamboat Lake is right across the road. For the adventurous, you can hike to the top of Hahn's Peak, 10,839 feet. It takes about 2 hours to climb up and about an hour to come down. An old Ranger station is on top of the peak, and the views are incredible. Always check the weather before starting a climb, weather can change in an instant. It can snow or hail any day of the year....I've seen both on the Fourth of July more than once....be prepared! A sweater or jacket is always a good idea, even in the summer. A few more miles to the north is Columbine, Colorado and a wonderful old mining camp. Right after Columbine, Routt Co. 129 turns into a 2 lane dirt road all the way to the Wyoming border. This is only open in non-snow season. The stars at night are so spectacular....if you haven't seen Colorado skies at night, you need to. You will see the Milky Way like never before, and if you are used to city skies, be prepared to be astounded by the beauty and clarity of our clear, dark and beautiful skies. If you need help with special events, such as planning a reunion or a wedding, we can help you with finding an appropriate location and the details such as caterers, musicians, etc. to make your event memorable and enjoyable. We hope you will consider our cabin YOUR cabin, and that you will return often. Keywords: cabin, lodge, log, timber, mountain, weddings, Zirkels, relaxation, reunions, retreats

A little history of our village...The original Hahns Peak was founded close to the shores of Steamboat Lake in 1865 during Colorado's gold and silver rush days, and was the original County Seat of Routt County. Hahns Peak Village today offers visitors a stroll through Colorado's colorful past, and offers residents a peaceful & historic residential life. Be sure to visit the Hahns Peak Historical Museum and original school house! The locals have opted to preserve the original quiet residential character of the town and shy away from the commercial tourism development typical of many old Colorado mountain towns. The entire area around Hahns Peak and Steamboat Springs is one of the best vacation destinations in Colorado and we invite you to visit. Look forward to seeing you soon! Mountain High is a 2,200 square foot log home with 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and a large sleeping loft plus a covered deck with comfortable seating. It sleeps 6 in the bedrooms and 4 with ample room in the loft. The cabin sits on 10 acres of forested land on the upper slope of a mountain overlooking Hahn’s Peak to the east and Wyoming and the Continental Divide to the north. The drive up to the cabin from 129 takes about 10 minutes and weaves through aspen and pine forests. The road is not paved so while sedans do drive up there, a car with adequate ground clearance is suggested. The views are stunning: you can occasionally see hikers climbing Hahn’s Peak, and during thunderstorms in Wyoming you can see the sheet lightening illuminating the clouds and mountains in the distance. There is nothing quite like it. If you want to stay in the valleys of the Steamboat area, don’t stay here; this is true mountain living at its best. You look down at the world from here, not up. Located on a private road used mostly in the winter by cross-country skiers, you will find total privacy and quiet: no cars whizzing by. Three bedrooms are located downstairs: two with queen sized beds and one with a double bed, plus two full bathrooms, one with an over-sized bathtub. On the main floor is a huge living room/dining room and kitchen surrounded on two sides by walls of windows. The dining room table sits 8 plus there is a second table that can join to it and add two more for a total of 10 seats at the table. An efficient wood stove is available for cold mornings, though the sun warms the place quickly. A circular staircase takes you up to a large sleeping loft with two beds and several Japanese futons. A large deck with cushioned patio chairs and a table sits outside the living room on the Hahn’s Peak side of the cabin. A large BBQ grill on the patio is available for your use.
