The survey placed Vancouver third out of 215 cities. Vancouver's climate helped it rise in the rankings, according to Mercer spokeswoman Danielle Bushen. The only two places that beat the West Coast city were Switzerland's Zurich and Geneva. As the largest city in Western Canada, Vancouver, BC, is the ideal place to visit. There are very few places in the world that offer the same kind of grown-up playground as Vancouver, BC. For one, where else can you sunbathe on an ocean beach in the morning, go skiing in the afternoon and play a round of golf after a 5-star dinner at one of the many exquisite restaurants, and then catch an NHL game, go see a Broadway-quality show and stop by one of the city's excellent live venues to catch some music and dance, all in one day? In Vancouver, BC, all this is possible and more. Vancouver lies in a region of more than 2 million people, which makes it the largest city in the province of British Columbia, and it is currently the third largest city in Canada. Vancouver is framed by ocean on three sides and is nestled inside white peaked Coastal Range mountains that rise behind the city to more than 1,500 m. Vancouver has one of the mildest climates in Canada with temperatures averaging 3째C in January and 18째C in July. It does rain quite a bit in Vancouver in winter, but this also adds to the high quality skiing in the surrounding mountains, some as close as a 20-minute drive from downtown. Vancouver is a playground for children and adults alike. Indulge in the award-winning restaurants and eateries. Stroll down the streets of one of the many trendy fashionable clothing areas of the city. Visit some of the best antique stores, museums, art galleries and theatres in the world. Some of Vancouver's most popular destinations are its public parks, such as the world famous Stanley Park, sandy beaches like Kitsalano beach, and natural splendour, such as, the grouse mountain or Capilano Suspension Bridge, which are all easily accessible from Vancouver. Come to Vancouver, you will not be disappointed. Vancouver BC is easily accessible by car, by boat, by plane and by train. Vancouver International Airport offers non-stop departures and arrivals from most of the world's primary airports. Driving to Vancouver from the US is simple as it is located at the top end of Interstate 5 which runs all the way to San Diego California down the western coast of the United States. Driving from within Canada is also simple as Vancouver is almost the end of the TransCanada highway. Getting here is easy, visiting here is a pleasure. Come and check it out! The SpaceOur Lakefront home was built in 2009 with all the modern amenities you could ask for. With 2BDRMS and 1BATH on the main floor there is room for 5 ppl on the main floor with one room accommodating 2 with a King size bed, and the second room accommodating 3 with DBL/Single bunks. Both rooms have 9Ft ceilings and windows. Guests have the added amenity of usage of a stackable washer and dryer. Our homes custom South American Harwood flooring and Wood ceiling in the loft and great room as well as the main wall in the open area really add touches of the rustic cabin feel. With vaulted ceilings and windows in the spacious kitchen and dining room and French doors opening to the deck you will enjoy the tranquil views of the lake and wildlife only steps away from the deck. The dining space seating 8-10ppl is more than enough room to enjoy meals together or card games in the evenings. The large 18x18 living room can be found in the cozy loft area with two pull out sofas for sleeping an additional 4ppl and a spacious ensuite full Bathroom. This room looks over the dining room kitchen area and also has a fantastic view over the lake. In our home we enjoy entertaining large groups so there is more than enough serving ware and kitchen ware to do so. Our family also enjoys board games and card games that guests are welcome to use. Our property is 1.73 acres of private land with its own duck pond and spring that run through to the lake separating the adjacent property and fenced on the other side. You will enjoy seeing the waterfowl, my 2 English Springer Spaniels when there sure do! Often there are deer, fox, and a resident Marmot on the property. The house is situated at the back of the property close to the water and there is a small guest cabin, also available to rent on the property that accommodates 4ppl. There is a small dock out into the water and it is a good area for swimming with a rocky bottom and small graveled area in the water. Guests are welcome to use fishing gear and the kayaks available on property. When we are there we also enjoy our powerboat for tubing and wake boarding and guests are welcome to join us. The area "Interlakes" up highway 24 is known for its abundance of lakes in the British Columbia Caribou region. Those who love fishing visit this area year round, and Sheridan Lake is stocked with 350,000 fish every year with fish reaching 12-14lbs, and average fish 5-8lbs so if you'd like to catch a fish this is the place to do it. Many activities can be found in the area year round. Horseback riding, ATVing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, boating, fishing, ice fishing, swimming, kayaking, cross country skiing, and skating are all activities enjoyed from this location. The SpaceWe offer a private apartment with 2 bedrooms, a full bathroom, well-equipped kitchen, sitting room, private entrance and parking. Sleeping up to 5 people comfortably, one bedroom has a queen-size bed, and the other either two twin beds or a king-size: there is also a further single bed (and, if really needed, a futon!) in the sitting room. We are very family friendly! We encourage you to make the most of the huge number of opportunities for activities in the area by offering discounts for multi-night stays. Guest AccessThe apartment has its own entrance and parking area: outside, you are welcome to use the garden, firepit / barbecue and gazebo. Hiking trails lead into the forest in all directions. Interaction with GuestsAs much help as you would like to make your stay memorable is always available, such as suggesting and organising activities, or providing an insider's guide to the area. Sometimes we might take a drive up into the mountains or along the river valley to see what's about, and have been known to invite guests to come with us... We are just a few minutes from attractions and activities such as the world-famous waterfalls, river rafting, mountain and forest hiking, fishing, paddling, and horseback riding. The small town of Clearwater has a range of businesses, including a large grocery store, banks, pharmacy, liquor stores, a variety of restaurants and an awesome new pub / eatery / smokehouse, just down the hill! The NeighborhoodTrees and rocks and trees and creeks and trees and bears and trees. Oh, and a little bit of rather sad-looking grass. Trails head off into the bush in all directions. No neighbours in sight. Getting AroundThere's not much in the way of public transportation: there is a limited bus service which runs past the house and into the town and surrounding area (but not into the park), and a local taxi service. The Greyhound Bus travels this way between Edmonton and Kamloops, and Via Rail does stop at the nearby station (if requested). Other Things to NoteSome things you might NOT like (!?!) - Up here in the woods and hills, we have next to no cell / mobile phone service: you might be able to hang out of a tree by one arm to get a single bar, but that's about it. - We do have wireless internet, but it bounces off a satellite, and is therefore much slower than that available in urban areas: it's not fast enough for (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN), FaceTime or the like. There are options for a much better connection if you drive into the village (5 minutes). - Please note that although the apartment is separate from the rest of the house, it is still part of our home: there are various teenage children (usually reasonably well-behaved, but not always), two cats and a dog (likewise). The animals will come into the apartment if you invite them. The children almost certainly won't, unless they are on slave duty. - We call it a 'garden flat': others might call it a 'basement'. Yes, it's the lowest floor of the house, but every room (except the bathroom) has a full-size window - not a tiny slit at the top of the wall. Best of all, when it's in the high 30s outside, and we are baking upstairs, inside the apartment it is always lovely and cool!
