There is hiking; Roaring Run, Douthat State Park and many others in the two National Forests: Jefferson (in front of the cabin) and George. Winter; The Omni Homstead has skiing 53 miles Water: There is our pristine Craig Creek, James River (we are at the section called the "Upper James River Trail" the section from Eagle Rock to Springwood is a 14 miles stretch labeled 'Virginia Scenic River System') , the Jackson River and the Cow Pasture both make up the James River. They are located approximately 13.8 miles north. If you don't have water vehicles they can rented at Twin River Outfitters in Buchanan. Full Service Fishing Guide "Rock On Charters" will pick you up and provide everything but your VA Fishing license! Muskie and Small Mouth Bass. There is SO MUCH TO DO, with in an hour drive. Wineries with entertainment with in 5 miles. History! You are staying in one of the two original counties of this country, Botetourt with historic Fincastle just down the road. Clifton Forge is a must see town. There is even a cave open to the public between Clifton Forge and Low Moor. Interaction with GuestsKeep in mind my husband calls this my "Princess Camping", that sums it up. No central heat & air / window ACs upstairs only in living room & sleeping area / heating is LP space units and electric space units, no cable TV or internet/WIFI, etc. If you want to stay in there are movies and board games. This is the place we go to get away from the world and electronics! If you are looking to get away and back to basics this is it! We'll always help you locate what it is you want to see or do. The NeighborhoodOnly way in to the property is by the Historic Phoenix Railroad Bridge and is a dead end gravel one lane road. Great privacy but still a sought after place by others during weekends and holidays for all the outdoor features of this area. So it is busy during the holidays in this area. We have one neighbor on our East side. Getting AroundVehicle needed / Parking on premises in the gravels only Other Things to NoteWe can not be responsible for flooding or any weather conditions. NOTE our house does not flood but the creek can rise anytime of the year in heavy rain. There is an additional 12.3% taxes that need to be collected. AirBnB does not have a way to collect tax. We also require a signed contact to be returned in 48 hours. Must by over 25 years of age to rent and stay, verification of age may be required. Complete refund if canceled before 60 days and 50% if cancelled within 30 days. Check in 3:00 pm checkout 10:30 am. NO PETS or ANIMALS OF ANY KIND ALLOWED. Caution: This cabin is not set up for handicap or young children. There are steep stairs and steep banks on this property. We can not be responsible for injuries.

This area is known for Craig Creek, the James River and The Cow Pasture River; for tubing, kayaking, canoeing and fishing. With Roaring Run, the George Washington National Forest and the Jefferson National Forest; hiking and outdoor activities are endless! This particular lot has no one living on one side and a full time neighbor on the other. National Forest in the front yard and Craig creek in the back. Only access is the Historic Phoenix RR Bridge both Ball Park Rd and Craig Valley Rd are dead ends. Meaning no through traffic. Yet you can reach Daleville or Clifton Forge in 30 minutes or so with grocery stores, restaurants and shopping. Far enough out but close enough in....

      The SpaceOur home overlooks the beautiful CowPasture River. The sun rises in a gap between the mountains, slowly burning away the mist off the river: it'll take your breath away! The only sight more beautiful is moonlight glinting off of the water. In the winter, snow blankets our little valley, causing you to feel nestled warm and safe into the perfect winter scene. In the summer, chirping tree frogs and crickets accompany the flash of what seems to be a thousand lightning bugs across the fields. It's a peaceful place we delight to share! Easy access to Interstate 64 makes our beautiful space convenient to many destinations and activities around south western Virginia. Guest AccessDownstairs, enjoy use of the garage, laundry room, half bath, closets, kitchen, study, dining room, and living room. Upstairs, find a Master suite with full bath and soaking tub, three more bedrooms, and another full bath. The basement and attic are inaccessible to guests. Two closets (one upstairs, one downstairs) are padlocked, but guests will find ample storage areas throughout the home. Access the CowPasture River in our backyard! Interaction with GuestsOur current home is near Charlotte, NC. Our housekeepers are nearby and ready to assist if you should need something in an emergency, and we are happy to answer your questions via text, email, or phone during your stay! The NeighborhoodNicelytown Road is popular for running, walking, and biking. It's a neighborhood full of friendly families. Clifton Forge is a 7-minute drive away, and offers a quaint downtown scene. Visit the Historic Masonic Theatre, the CF School of the Arts, the Alleghany Highlands Arts and Crafts Center, and many other unique attractions. Getting AroundThe driveway has two entrances and can easily accommodate several cars. Clifton Forge has Amtrak service (about 8 minutes from the house). Interstate 64 is only 2-minutes from the house, which is convenient to Interstate 81, also. We are about 2.5 hours from Richmond, 1.5 hours from Charlottesville, and about 1 hour away from Roanoke. There are a couple of cab services: Mountain Cab Company ((PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) and Ride Nicely ((PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN).

      The SpaceAmazing view of the nighttime sky, and equally stunning view of mountains during the day, with clouds often covering mountain tops. Neighbors at the entrance to the property below the dome home are very friendly and considerate. Guest AccessRenovations are now complete! All space is accessible (except one room in the lower level used for long-term storage - toilet paper, paper towels, etc...). Check-in and check-out times are both at noon, in order to provide new guests additional time to drop off bags and settle into the area. Note that if you are booking a room with a check-in date identical to the check-out date of the previous guest, the caretaker of the property may be cleaning the home while you are there if you arrive between noon and 3 p.m. Interaction with GuestsI will arrange support as needed during your stay via the property caretaker staying in round house at the foot of the entrance to the property, upon advance request at time of booking. Booking as soon as possible is recommended, as people are already spreading the word about this amazing property. Coffee/tea/hot chocolate provided. Any foods remaining in kitchen/refrigerator/freezer upon your arrival are yours to use/eat as desired. If we are not available to assist, there is a caretaker residing in a round house also located on the property. Her friendly dogs may be there to greet you. Drive past the round house up to the dome home when you arrive. The dome home is secluded and may not be visible from the road, but the round house is easy to find. Mailboxes 10401 and 10389 are both associated with this property. The property caretaker's dogs may greet your car at the gate - helps you know that you've found the right place (very friendly dogs). Caretaker will provide breakfast items from the store as needed, so please let us know in advance of your stay or when you check in what you would like to eat for breakfast while you are there (you make your own meals - food is provided). The NeighborhoodQuiet, hidden location away from hustle and bustle of the world - a very enjoyable place to stay for small groups and families. View from the deck is AMAZING!!! You can enjoy walks on the 7 acre property and along the countryside leading to/from the mountain ridge. A few miles up the road is the main mountain ridge where you can see 30+ miles into West Virginia on a clear day...amazing views! Getting AroundFrom the dome home property entrance, drive down the road adjacent to property ~1/2 mile to Highway 220, turn right and drive ~8 miles to Omni Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, VA, or take Hwy 220 south to I-64 via Covington, VA. There is a private airport on top of the mountain a few miles from the dome home. Enterprise Rent-A-Car is available there and in Covington, VA (cheaper in Covington by about $10/day). The Greenbriar resort is ~1 hour away, as well. Call or email for additional directions as needed from the dome home. There is some hard copy information on various tourist attractions in the area at the dome home for your consideration. If additional directions are needed, please contact us prior to your arrival, as the property may be challenging to find at night. Other Things to NotePlease let me know what you need in advance and I will do everything possible to accommodate. Up to 100 Mbps Internet speed (according to LUMOS Networks serving as Internet Service Provider - FAST!!!) is available. Local phone service and basic cable (30 channels) are also included. Initial entrance to dome home building is via coded key lock on upper level, then both upper and lower entrances can be accessed. Otherwise, we will inform you if the home will be unlocked upon arrival. Japanese beetle and stink bug "bug season" is over for the region, so there are no more issues with bugs in the house during the cold season. Also worth noting, photos and an official inventory of everything in the house are on record for security purposes, to ensure that nothing is stolen by either the guests, as well as outsiders not booked with Airbnb. Renovations on the home are now complete so enjoy your stay in peace and tranquility! Airbnb determines pricing which ranges from $49-99/night for one person, plus cleaning fee for the house. You have the entire house to yourself. Up to eight people can stay at the dome home comfortably, which includes (URL HIDDEN) pets are not counted in the tally. :)

We are 40 minutes from the Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport, 30 minute from Roanoke, VA, 1 hour from Blacksburg, VA and approximately 1 1/2 hours from Charlottesville, VA. If you are using (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps to find us please use 167 Thompson Drive, Eagle Rock, VA as the address (instead of 61 Thompson Dr). Guest AccessGuests will have access to the James River through the Gala River Front Campground for canoeing, kayaking, swimming and fishing. Twin Rivers Outfitters provides canoe, kayak and tube rentals and transportation to put-in and take-out spots on the James River and the Cowpasture River. Interaction with GuestsWe, the owners, reside on the farm property within sight of the Farmhouse and are available for questions or to address any issues that might arise. We can also recommend places to visit while you are with us. The NeighborhoodWe are located next to the James River for water activities. There are several places for hiking and picnicking. We are less than 30 minutes from shopping, antiquing, dining and sight-seeing. Or, if you prefer the quiet, just relax on our screened-in porch and watch the sun go down, and in the summer, watch the lightening bugs come out. Getting AroundWe are approximately 40 minutes from the airport and 20 minutes from AmTrak. We are located on US 220 and are easy to find.       This beautiful oak wood cabin has an open design that features a high ceiling combined living room and kitchen. The cabin has a large master bedroom that can sleep 2 or more, a loft bedroom for 1, and 2 bathrooms-1 with shower, 1 with bathtub. The outside front porch offers a view of the Rough Mountain and is a favorite place for an early morning cup of coffee. The cabin is nestled in the woods on a 450 acre farm. The farm fronts 3 miles of the pristine Cowpasture River and borders the George Washington National Forest. The area is ideal for outdoors activities including hiking, swimming, canoeing, and fishing. A tennis court is also located on the property.

Craig Creek is known for trophy small mouth bass, very short float to the Upper James River Trail with a 14 mile stretch of the Virginia Scenic River System. Drive, walk, or bike to Roaring Run.       This 900 square feet, two story cabin (our garage turned into a cabin until we build our retirement home here) was completed in 2013. Conveniently, located 2 miles off Route 220 sitting on 2.2 acres. 111 feet private access of Craig Creek is in your back yard and Jefferson Nation Forest is in your front yard. Quiet, beautiful lot with Roaring Run and James River very close. Bring your Kayaks/Canoes or Tubes and float from the back yard to the James River. The Cabin is a studio style with semi private bedroom queen size bed, infrared heater and the living room has a vent-free propane fireplace, also two full size futons that have thick mattresses, full kitchen, living area has a bar, laundry room with propane heater, bathroom with large rain shower, large patio, Screened in porch with swinging bed and dining table (enclosed during the winter with a propane heater), fire pit and garage. In the Winter this makes the prefect romantic weekend get away with the fireplaces. Bring your mountain bikes and ride the gravel roads. Once you cross the Phoenix Historic RR Bridge there isn't much traffic and it is the only way in and out to the cabin. There are great trails within an hour drive; Scenic Jackson, Greenbrier River Trail and the New River Trail. There is hiking; Roaring Run, Douthat State Park and many others in the two National Forests: Jefferson (in front of the cabin) and George Washington National Forest. Water: There is our pristine Craig Creek, James River (we are at the section called the "Upper James River Trail" the section from Eagle Rock to Springwood is a 14 miles stretch labeled 'Virginia Scenic River System') , the Jackson River and the Cow Pasture both make up the James River. They are located approximately 13.8 miles north. If you don't have water vehicles they can rented at Twin River Outfitters in Buchanan. You are stay in one of the two original counties of this country, Botetourt with historic Fincastle just down the road. Clifton Forge is a must see town. There is even a cave open to the public between Clifton Forge and Low Moor. Bring your own equipment because you're on your own! If you want to stay in there are movies and board games.
