The SpaceLocated within Lincoln National Forest, this gorgeous house belongs to my parents. My father first purchased the property back in the early 1990s. For the past 20 years or so, he has collected every single item you'll see in craftsmanship detail. He has added stairs, a lower level, a deck, a kitchen addition, and countless elements that I hope will be surprisingly evident once you stay at this unique and secluded place 9,000 feet above sea level. The Manor in "God's Country," as the locals call Cloudcroft, will take your breath away the second you enter into the lower level. The foyer has a gas fireplace and a wonderfully decorated entrance living room. Further down the hall, you will encounter a studio with a computer, a printer and a full-size sofa-bed. Once you go upstairs through the wooden steps, be prepared to be astounded upon encountering the spacious living room, the huge open kitchen and the large dining room. This open area includes a large, real fireplace which will most likely become the social nerve of the house when you stay here. The space is ideal to entertain and engage with others. The dining table can comfortably seat 10 people, and the kitchen has a center island with four breakfast stools. Four additional bar stools are located between the kitchen and the living room resting on a granite counter. The master bedroom includes a queen-size bed with a private, double vanity bathroom, and is also found on the same second level. There are three full bathrooms, one on each level, and each decorated with legitimate tile and sinks brought from southern Mexico. The other three bedrooms are upstairs, all separated by a small but nicely furnished common area. Two bedrooms contain two twin beds each and the third one has a queen-size bed. I could go on forever describing each feature in exquisite detail, but while my assessment of the Manor is obviously subjective, I can assure you that you have never stayed in a place quite like this one in your life. I have traveled the world and I certainly never have. It took me awhile to convince my parents to open this place to the world. You will not regret the experience to stay in such extraordinary luxury in "God's Country." Guest AccessOur guests will have complete access to the House. You're welcome to use the well-appointed kitchen. Help yourself to all silverware, plates and cooking utensils. Enjoy any of the two outside decks, or gather in any of the two fireplaces. In short, this is your place, please treat it with comparable love and care. Interaction with GuestsAs this is my parent's place, they may not be able to greet you. However, I will be available online to attempt to answer any questions you may have and will try to provide you with instructions and advise if requested via text or phone. You will therefore have complete privacy during your stay. I live in Bethesda, MD, and my parents live in El Paso, TX. We have made arrangements for handymen in town should anything arise. The NeighborhoodChances are, you will not see the neighbors. This house has easy access, yet it's extremely secluded. The town of Cloudcroft is about 6.2 miles from the House. Your closest neighbor is probably some 100 yards, if they're there at all. Welcome to rural New Mexico! Getting AroundThe only way to get here is with a private vehicle. If you're coming in the winter, I suggest you use an all-wheel drive, as the entrance is steep and could become slippery, specially if it snows. Other Things to NoteQ & A: Q: Why do you rent this place? A: We use it one month per year at most. Why keep this jewel to ourselves? Please enjoy it as if it's your place as well. Q: What if I need something from you? A: Just send me a text message or give me a ring. You'll get my number after your booking is confirmed. Q: Should I bring sheets and towels? A: No worries. We will provide bedding and towels, blankets, soap, shampoo and toilet paper, as well as silverware, plates and cooking utensils. If you need anything else, please let me know and I will do anything in my power to have it ready before your arrival. Q: I love this place, can I extend my stay? A: If available, sure, knock yourself out. Simply use your smart phone or computer and book again. But please contact me beforehand out of courtesy. Q: I’m planning a large reunion. Can your place really handle 8 people? A: Absolutely. There are three bedrooms on the third level, one master bedroom, on the second level, and one sofa-bed on the first level if need be. There is a full bathroom on each level. The kitchen is large, and the dining table should be ample enough. Q: Who in the world decorated this gem of a place? A: All credit goes to my father. He searched for every piece and detail in forsaken bazaars, antique shops, second hands, and garage sales around the world for the past 20+ years. From the moment he lied his eyes on what was then a wooden shack, I believe he knew exactly how to turn it into the beautiful Manor you see today. Q. What's the deal with you being a Superhost? A. Well then, since you ask...I'm a Superhost because we're relaxed about our guests despite us having full-time jobs of our own. However, I've come to be rather fond of that "title," and I don't appreciate when a guest leaves a review saying that the place was too isolated, or that the place was not what they expected (there's only about 40 pictures). If a guest does not read the detailed description where I specify the exact distance to places, or the meticulous portrayal of the house, or whatever, then their reviews should be kinder. I truly enjoy 5-star reviews. If there's something you do not like while here, I beg you to let me know and I promise to do what I can to revert your perspective. Again, communication is king.

I am not sure where TripAdvisor gets their pricing, but they are high. Please contact me for a quote before getting discouraged. Weekend rates for 4th July is $375 for the entire weekend + refundable deposit, non-refundable cleaning fee and mandated taxes and NOT what is posted of $434 per night. I have TripAdvisor trying to make the changes now. This cabin is more like a house in the middle of the mountains, it is very cozy, childproof, has toys and books for kids! The 4th bedroom is an open loft upstairs which also has a 3/4 bath attached. There is a propane BBQ grill and the hook up to the built in propane tank is on the front porch by stairs. There is a fireplace so bring firewood. The kitchen has all the amenities needed, such as a crock pot, pots/ pans, dishes and utensils and there is a separate pantry available for your food. A washer/dryer is available in the basement. The cabin is heated by propane and there are floor heaters throughout the house. A fire pit outside is fun for the family and I even have the skewers! The beauty here is incredible. If you are quiet, deer will come graze in the grassy area just next to the BBQ pit. There are 3 ponds which have trout but fishing is not permitted. A great place for walks, peace and quiet. Very quiet. There are neighbors up and down the road but you rarely hear them or see them. Very safe subdivision, safe enough to let the kids walk around the road, it goes in a circle so they really can't get lost. There is a running waterfall and the sound is very serene. You will love it here but bring a light jacket, the nights get cool.

The SpaceThis is a Single-Family Home located at 12 Canyon Road, Cloudcroft, NM. It has 3 bedrooms and a loft with a 1/2 bath. The property is approximately 2,312 square feet. The property was built in 1967 . Please remember, you are in the mountains were bugs fly and critters roam. I am not able to control every moth or spider that gets inside after the cabin is cleaned. Guest AccessGuests will have access to all areas of the cabin and grounds with the exception of a pantry and the garage which are locked. Parking is available in front of the garage and around the propane tank area. TV's are available in each bedroom with DVD/VHS players. In the living room, there is a flat screen TV with ROKU 2, HULU, Pandora, Netflix and over 1500 movies for all ages (including sports for the dads). Internet is available and there is a computer area in the middle bedroom for your convenience. The house is fully equipped, dishes, utensils, linens, towels, W&D, (heck, there are even jackets if you need them in the closet behind the master bedroom door). There is a fire place so don't forget to bring the firewood. A fire pit is below and you are welcome to enjoy it but I ask you be responsible for properly putting out the fire even when intoxicated!! The house has 2 stairways that will get to the main floor, 1 has about 12 steps, the other has 5. If you can get up the 5 steps, the house is handicap accessible. Everything they would need is on the main floor. There is a lock box on the door handle and prior to your arrival, I will issue you a code to gain access. PETS ARE WELCOME!! Interaction with GuestsUpon your paying for the reservation, Airbnb will give you my cell phone number and I will be available 24/7 should something arise. There is a house phone available but will only allow local calls. All long distance calls must be collect or charged to your credit card. The NeighborhoodThere are 6 homes on Canyon Road, 2 are for sale and 2 are permanent residents. The property across the street was a long term rental but is currently vacant. That makes for a wonderfully quiet neighborhood. Occasionally, you will see usually 5 deer grazing in the grassy area along my property line and the road. At night, I have heard neighbors say there are bears but in the 45 years I have been at the cabin, I have yet to see one. I wouldn't keep garbage on the porch at night, store it in the basement until you leave. There is 1 dumpster for the subdivision, you will pass it on your way in and out so be sure and stop by and pay it a visit!! If you take the main road in Cloudcroft and head towards the end of town, Big Daddy's is on your right and the food is excellent. Jack's BBQ (across the main road from the Allsup gas station) I heard is excellent but I have been told if you are not inside before 11 am, you will not be fed because they always run out of food. As you pass Big Daddy's, you can turn left and go to Ruidoso (1 hour drive) or wind around to your right and visit Ski Cloudcroft (Hwy 82). There is the Silver Springs Fishing Pond at 449 NM Hwy 244 (towards Ruidoso). They will clean the fish for you but I think they are a little pricy. Back in town to your left are all the shops. You have to check them out!! There is a shop towards the end that makes her own potpourri and it is yummy smelling and reasonably priced for the amount she gives you. Getting AroundIf you have a 4 wheel drive vehicle, bring it, you might need it in the winter months to get in and out. It has snowed so heavily that my son and his family were snowed in for 3 days. IF THIS HAPPENS, THERE IS FOOD IN THE DEEP FREEZER DOWNSTAIRS. DO NOT STARVE!! In the non-snowy months, any car will work. There is no public transportation in Cloudcroft!!! Other Things to NoteThe house is heated with propane, which is provided for you. Since I am paying for all the utilities, I just ask that you keep the inside thermostat at a moderate temp while home and when you leave for the day, lower it to a reasonable temp. When you depart the cabin at the end of your stay, please turn the thermostat to the lowest setting. In cooler weather, do not turn off the furnace. Floor heaters are also available throughout the cabin. Electric blankets are available, if they are not on the beds, check the closets in each room. There are stairs to the basement as well as up to the loft. Children love to play on the stairs, so I have baby gates tucked under the loft stairwell. To save your sanity and voice, please use them to keep little ones safe. Toys and books can be found upstairs for the kids to use and by the back door for adults. If you find one you're enjoying and haven't finished, take it!! Book donations are always welcome!Crayons and coloring books are for the kids as well. Prior to leaving, parents are responsible for cleaning up after their children. Do not leave toys out and make sure the toy closet upstairs is tidy. THIS IS NOT A PART OF THE CLEANING DEPOSIT. I WILL CHARGE IF I HAVE TO CLEAN UP TOYS. The water used is well water, therefore, hard water. I try to keep the toilet build up to a minimum but even I am not a miracle worker! Your understanding is appreciated! There are 2 1/2 bathrooms, the loft bathroom consists of a toilet and sink only. The shower is a linen closet. The kitchen has hard water as well and so it makes everything you wash in the dishwasher cloudy. Just know, they are clean!!

The SpaceJust want everyone who rents now to know that the weather is getting cooler at night. We have the bottom of the tipi sealed up and we can provide a propane heater for an additional $10 a night. But we will be closing up at the first snowfall until next Spring. We'll be adding 2 more tipis and a tree house. We hope to see you then. Our location is very unique - the privacy you feel being in the forest and knowing that you are completely unplugged from the rat race should you choose to be. It's up to you as to how often you want to check your messages or calls because you will have to make to a special effort to plug back in. WiFi and cell service are not available at the campsite and you make the decision when to travel the short distance necessary to reconnect and check in. You will be surprised at how wonderful it feels and you may not want to return to the normal hustle and bustle of everyday living. This tipi does have a full size bed and two cots. The Airbnb program doesn't have an option for cots so it shows as single beds but they are cots or blow up up mattresses. Guest AccessOur tipis are located in the forest and do not have access to internet or cell service at the tipi. To receive cell service you will have to walk or drive to the bottom of our road which is about a 1/4 mile distance from the tipi or a short hike to the top of our property. The National Forest is just outside your door and you are welcome to hike or bike as much as you like. Interaction with GuestsWe are very laid back hosts. We will greet you when you arrive and explain how everything works for you. If you have never stayed in a tipi - we will show you how to open and close the smoke flaps. If you are uncomfortable doing this yourself, we will be more than happy to help you or do it for you. We will explain how the outdoor shower with instant hot water works and answer any other questions you may have. If you have problems, we live on the property and are available to help you at any time. We have extensive knowledge of the area and are happy to advise you of great trails to hike, best places to watch the sunset or we are fine just to let you be alone, unwind and enjoy the solitude. The NeighborhoodOur camp sits on our property which is almost 10 acres. However, our property line backs up to the National Forest so you have several thousand acres to hike in right outside the door of the tipi. This also means we have wildlife. Turkey, deer & elk are frequent visitors. Bear and racoon are seen some but not enough to worry about. Getting AroundOur camp is in a rural area. You must have your own transportation to get here. Other Things to NoteAbout the Weather and Other Conditions Here in New Mexico we have a saying, “ If you don’t like the weather, just wait fifteen minutes and it will change.” Mother Nature and the weather are things over which we have no control. We have access to the same weather information as anyone and we try to have some idea what the weather will be like. Having said that, we also say, only fools and weathermen try to predict the weather in this part of the country. It would be a good idea to bring a light jacket for nights around the campfire. This year it has been unseasonably cool during the night and temperatures have varied by about twenty five degrees from daytime high to night time low. Night time temperatures around 50 degrees are not uncommon. We have tried to provide sufficient bedding to keep you cozy and warm. During the monsoon season we can get a nice soft rain or a torrential down pour. Our Tipis are canvas and water repellent but it is possible under severe conditions for a tipi camping trip to become an unanticipated adventure. We are also under drought conditions often and sometimes the fire danger is such that the county, state and federal governments implement fire restrictions. We always comply with all fire restrictions in force while our guests are camping. Sometimes this means that campfires will not be allowed. Under extreme conditions smoking is restricted to the interior of personal vehicles. Acts of God and nature are not grounds for a refund. We will however do everything in our power to help you make it through your adventure with flying colors.
