The SpaceSurrounded by evergreen mountains, sturdy trees that dance with the gentle sensations from the wind. Simple perfection in a nirvana-quiet, self-fulfilling and peaceful atmosphere that allows you the visitor to totally connect with nature, and yourself, in a forest setting. The site is located in the woods close to our family owned organic vegetable farm (D-Smart Farm). In the woods, you can see Agoutis in the early mornings, river crabs and numerous species of birds during the day, and millions of fireflies at night, with a constant backdrop of birdsong and chirping insects. On the farm, we grow a wide range of and vegetables, and we keep a few rabbits, chickens, goats and ducks. Jacko Parrots and hummingbirds are frequent visitors. You can go for a swim in the river and then use the sap from our Gommier tree, a traditional source of fuel in Dominica, to light your camp fire. Some of Dominica’s most beautiful hiking starts right on the edge of the farm. Essentially, if you love nature, you will love this space. Note that we are high up in the mountain rain forest, so there are no mosquitoes carrying Zika in the area. There are no dangerous plants or animals in the tropical forest so you are free to relax and explore outdoors, day and night. Our guests stay in dry and cozy A-Frame structures with mattresses and blankets and share an outdoor kitchen space. There are three separate structures, each of which can house two adults plus small children. Visitors who bring their own tents are welcome to camp on the farm. Nature lovers who prefer more conventional accommodation should check out our cottage, listed separately on Airbnb under the name “Cozy Tropical Farm Cottage “. Guest Access- River -Forest -Tropical garden -Shared outdoor kitchen and dining area -Outdoor warm shower -Free WiFi on the farm Interaction with GuestsWe love interacting with our guests, be it questions about culture, the space (we love feedback!), or just conversations about life, anything really. We can also advise on other places to visit on our beautiful and diverse island, and can connect you with trusted local drivers and guides if you want. Anything else, just ask, we’re always happy to help. At the same time, we respect guests’ privacy in the woods The NeighborhoodA quiet community, where one can enjoy visiting many wonderful sites like The Saulton Waterfalls, The Emerald pool , Spanny water falls, Jaco falls, Jaco flats and the Morne Trois Piton national Trail. Our guest can shop at our local "Nature trail Mini-mart" which is about twenty minutes walking distance from the farm, and a 3 minute drive. Our guests can enjoy some good local food at "Sookoofie's"stall at the Round About, and can enjoy alcoholic beverages and much more at Shorty's rum shop and bar... Getting AroundWe are located thirty minutes from the main city Roseau and access public transportation easily up to about 6 pm in the evenings. Arrangements can easily be made for taxi or rental services to and from our location. Other Things to NoteMy family works away from the farm on most days and get home by evening. Guests are welcome to participate in day-to-day work on the farm( just let us know). If you want to visit other areas of the island, for example to go whale watching, turtle spotting, snorkeling, or hiking, we can connect you with trusted local drivers and guides. We want to keep the campground as a place to connect with nature and the inner you, therefore the wifi can be accessed on the porch of the main house on the farm.
