Outside you can enjoy the tropical inground pool shared by the main house, lay in the hammock under the shady, mossy oak trees or enjoy feeding the fish and turtles in our horseshoe shaped pond. Find a quiet spot to relax and read in the many little seating areas around the shady yard. The guest cottage is separate from our main house and you will have your own private entrance to come and go freely. You will have a full kitchen with all amenities for cooking meals at home, including spices, oil and vinegar, etc. Grind some of the complimentary fresh, organic coffee beans and enjoy fresh coffee out on your deck or anywhere on the property as you are welcome to meander. Cottage includes full kitchen including oven/ glass top range, full size refrigerator, sink, microwave, breakfast bar, cozy living room with two comfy recliners, 42" flat screen TV with wifi streaming, bathroom with shower, and separate bedroom with comfortable queen size bed, a vanity/desk, and an armoire for hanging clothes. The space has everything you will need to make your stay comfortable. There is also a private 10x10 foot upper deck off your kitchen overlooking the peaceful grounds and the built-in sparkling swimming pool, which you are welcome to use. You're also welcome to walk around the yard and explore. We do live in the main house and sometimes we are at work or traveling and may not get to meet you. If we are out of town during your stay we will appoint a local family member to accomodate any needs you may have so you are always taken care of. But if we aren't traveling, we're here most evenings and weekends to also help you with anything you need. When we're not at home, we are always just a phone call or text away and will respond quickly! We love meeting new people! We also love helping guests make the most out of their vacation stay. We are natives of our little town of Merritt Island and can give you all the best info on fun things to do that only the locals know about! Just ask us! If we are here, we also offer private car and boat tours of some local hotspots! Information is only available upon early request. Guest AccessYour parking spot is directly in front of the garage on the far right side. You will see the cottage stairs and deck on that side. A keyless entry door code eliminates the need for a key and provides you access 24/7 during your stay. Call ahead for the door code. Late check-ins are easy, as you can arrive and settle in anytime late at night 24/7. You have access to the whole apartment, the whole yard, pool area and private upper deck. You are welcome to use the pool any day of the week between 8am-10pm. There is a laundry room if needed, open daily 9am-5pm. There is a phone in the apartment for local and 911 emergency calls only at no additional charge, but you must dial the area code 321 first. And also, the wifi password is written on the telephone. Interaction with GuestsWe will always be respectful of your privacy and vacation time, but are also available if you need directions to an excursion, if you enjoy conversation or if you need anything. If you see us outside by the pool, please don't hesitate to hang out with us. You are always welcome to join us poolside! We love meeting new people.
For other things to do, please check out the space coast websites and your room guide of local establishments and such. We want your stay to be fulfilling and pleasant!
We love to take guests on private 2-4 hour motor boat tours through the Banana River Lagoon. Days of tours are on Saturdays and Sundays only. Please advise us at least seven days in advance if interested. We usually see a great variety of birds, dolphin, manatee and the occasional Alligator. We can stop for lunch at one of the local fresh seafood waterfront restaurants. Boat Tour includes bottled waters, soft drinks and snacks such as chips and apples. You are welcome to bring your own snacks and alcoholic beverages. Our 22' boat can accomodate 4-6 guests total, comfortably and has a covered shade awning. You will really enjoy this ride! Weather permitting of course. Rates apply.
At the homefront: Our Australian Shepard Lassie loves people and will greet you with affection. She may follow you up to the apartment door on the deck, but please don't allow her to come inside the apartment as we list it as pet free for guests with allergies. We let her outside during the day to chase squirrels and lizards but we keep her in the main house overnight. If she is a bother at all, we will not be offended if you let us know. We leave her out during the day because of her breed. She has to run often in order to stay healthy mentally and physically. Lassie is very affectionate and just loves people but she does not lick. She may try to jump up and give a hug but if you hold your hand out and say "Down", she will stop jumping. She will chase a frisbee or ball but if she sees a squirrel she gets sidetracked.
Transportation: If you need a ride somewhere or need to be picked up, we can often assist you with this in our vehicle. Rates apply. You are not bothering us. We are here to make sure you enjoy this great area and our place. If you'd like to dine together once in a while, let us know when. We love outdoor barbques. We respect your privacy and will converse as much or as little as you would like. We hope you have a pleasant stay! The NeighborhoodYour stay will be peaceful and quiet as the cottage apartment is located on a quiet, country road on our two acre site. You will wake up to birds, butterflies, and sometimes breezes. We live in a very safe, family rural neighborhood. No constant heavy traffic, airplanes, trains etc. We are very close to the conveniences of shopping and eateries, so don't be fooled. This is a safe neighborhood and we have lived here for over 40 years with no complaints. There are places to ride the available bicycles to, like Historical Sam's House and Manatee park. Manatee park is a great place to kayak and tours are available locally. Or just hang out at your cottage or pool and enjoy the outdoors and listening to the birds. Getting AroundThere is lots of parking space available. No public transit is near but Uber and taxi companies are available. We can often assist with rides to and from the airport or to a car rental center, just ask prior to arrival to see if we are available or not. Orlando International Airport is 50 minutes away from the guest apartment. To get to our place, after leaving Orlando International, head East on the 528 Causeway, also called The Beachline. There are three or four tolls. Continue for about 45 miles until you get to the Merritt Island exit which you will exit right. Then get into the left lane and make a left at the traffic light heading North on Courtenay Parkway ( State Rd 3). Go North about 4.5 miles until you see E. Crisafulli Road on the right. Make a right and head East for about 2.5 miles to 795 E. Crisafulli Rd. We are on the right side of street. Just look for a white, three rail horse fence and brick entrance columns. We are the two-story yellow house. You have arrived at your destination. If arriving after dark, you'll know our place by the two red coach lights. Other Things to NoteWe are located close to everything!
