The Space_________________________ Our house was built in 1905 with beautiful colonial features: high ceilings, hardwood floors, lots and lots of light! The room is located at the front of the house, and we stay in the back, so there is plenty of privacy for our guests. Our office is a short walk away, and a friend has a vintage clothing store in the bottom floor of the building, so there's usually someone here in case of a lockout or any questions that might arise. Guest AccessGuests have access to their bedroom and private bath, a second bedroom if needed, the living room, dining room, kitchen, patio, and rooftop. WIFI, cleaning service, nice towels and bedding, bathroom basics, healthy self-serve breakfast of fresh fruit and homemade granola, the city's best coffee, mezcal straight from Oaxaca, maps, city tips, help booking travel, etc. Interaction with Guests_________________________ **** NOTE: from Jan. 4 to 16, 2016 we will have two family members staying in the second guest bedroom. Airbnb guests will be sharing a bathroom with them, and as such, we've discounted the rate for those dates. **** _________________________ My husband Jorge and I both adore this city and make it easy for guests to navigate and figure out. We're available to field questions, help book travel, explain public transport (it's easy!), and find hidden gems of this megacity. I moved here from the states about six years ago and love sharing the places I've discovered, especially suggestions for where to eat! Jorge has an extensive knowledge of the history of the city. We're open to share as much as our guests like, and also happily keep to ourselves for those who prefer not to socialize. We do prefer guests who aren't partiers; we are not very late night people and we work very hard; guests arriving home at 4am on a weeknight isn't ideal (1am is ok, though — we're not super strict!). We often host friends for dinner or rooftop movies, and our kitchen always has a few bottles of mezcal that I order straight from the palenque en Oaxaca — no brand, wild magueys, and I can confidently claim you won't find better mezcal anywhere in the city. The Neighborhood_________________________ Roma Norte, as you've probably already read, is full of cafes, galleries, quaint parks, etc. It's safe and beautiful. Our neighborhood was built by the aristocracy of DF in the late 1800s / early 1900s, so the colonial architecture remains. Roma suffered quite a bit of damage following the earthquake of 1985, but in the past decade has seen a rapid revitalization and the opening of many of the city's best restaurants and galleries. We're just a quick walk from Condesa, another beautiful neighborhood with lots to see and do. Colonia Juarez is also up-and-coming, and just 3 blocks away. Getting AroundOur house is perfectly situated half a block from the metro and metrobus. We're on the pink metro line, so hopping downtown to the Centro Historico is a breeze, and a quick 5-block walk to Reforma will get you on a bus to the museum district and Chapultepec Park. There is a secure taxi stand on the corner, and the neighborhoods are extremely walkable. There is a also a bike sharing station (Ecobici) just in front of the house, and the city is rapidly adding bike lanes to make it safer. Other Things to NoteWe do have a curious cat, so those with allergies are probably better served elsewhere. Noise : our street can get loud in the mornings and evenings. This is not a quiet city, and drivers regularly lay on their car horns. The schools on our block are also quite loud, with daily morning announcements and singing. Light sleepers, beware! We provide earplugs, and no guests so far have complained about the noise, I just want to make sure everyone is aware of it. Sorry, no children allowed.

Getting AroundMetro Insurgentes is just 5 block away (Jalapa street) and Metrobus (Av Insurgentes) station Alvaro Obregon is 3 blocks away. There is a secure taxi stand on the corner next to the OXXO store, and the neighborhoods are extremely walkable. Other Things to NoteIf some neighbor ask who you are, just say you are staying with a friend, there are other airbnb apartments in the building, but I like to keep a low profile. I am not super strict, you can arrive home at anytime, just keep in mind that you are sharing the space with other airbnb guest, so don`t make noise after 1 am. And be respectfull at all time. We expect guests to be extremely careful to always close the front door securely and to take good care of the space and kitchen equipment. Smoking is allowed in exterior spaces (balcony). Guests can use espresso machines, and other equipment. Please turn off lights when not in use to save energy and clean up any dishes used.

The SpaceOur apartment has one bedroom with a California King bed, a nursery with a crib, and an office where you can set up an inflatable full sized bed. Our beautiful apartment is in the heart of Mexico City's hip, cafe neighborhood. There are parks, museums, and excellent public transit just nearby. Because we'll be out of town during your stay, we ask that you feed our cat, Nougat. Lovely, quiet apartmentin the heart of the Roma District. Safe, beautiful apartment located off the street. Lots of cafes, restaurants, and bars. Walking distance from public transportation and just a couple stops from museums and the centro. Also walking distance to Ecobici, the French-inspired bikeshare program. Wifi, private bathroom, access to spacious shared common areas as well as the kitchen. We are a social married couple that spend a lot of time having small dinner parties and cooking meals. A journalist and non-profit executive, we are outdoorsy and like to explore our adopted city. Once you are here, we'd be happy to point you in the right direction. Oh, and there is a cat in the apartment. Please observe, It's a quiet house. We don't complain if the neighbors are noisy, but they rarely are. As such, we ask you keep the noise down after 11 pm. No unexpected overnight guests please. If you want to bring a couple friends over that's fine, but please let us know beforehand and you are responsible for whatever damage they do. Please keep in mind that while this is a wonderful, vibrant town, it is Mexico City and there are people who will take advantage of you if you are not careful. This is a refuge, and an office during the day, not a party house. Guest will have their access to the entire apartment including home theater, kitchen, free wifi, and back patio with hammock. We also have lots of reading material to plan your trip. Finally, you will have unfettered access to a very friendly cat. We will be out of town, so the place is yours! The cat, Nougat, is very friendly and social. Roma is one of the best neighborhoods in Mexico City. Frequented by artists and food-lovers, its stunning architecture is the perfect backdrop for a casual wander or a fervent search for the perfect taco place. You can't throw a rock without hitting a museum or gallery and there are enough odd little shops to keep you busy for weeks. It's also close to La Condesa, Zona Rosa, and Reforma. Striking distance to Chapultapec Park and the historical center. It's safe to walk at night, friendly, and just quirky enough to make it interesting. For short visits there is a Metro (underground train) station, Metrobus station and and taxi stand within a short walk. For those staying longer, we highly recommend an EcoBici bike share card ($25 for a week) and we can help you get set up. It's a lovely way to get around the city. For longer trips, it's not too hard to rent a car on Reforma. If you are an adventurous traveler or an outdoorsy person, ours is the place to stay. We'll give you the inside track on good hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, or mountaineering. We have also explored the region pretty well and can tell you about interesting towns nearby and cultural hidden gems a short bus ride away. The Space(English first / dann etwas auf deutsch / et un peu en francais) If you would like to stay in a real - NON SMOKER - apartment, in a traditional neighborhood, with enough space to rest, relax or even work, well connected to public transportation and easy access to taxis, walking distance to everything essential, reasonably close to anything important, and of course with TV, WiFi-internet, this place might be just right for you. First, I describe the apartment, then the surroundings. APARTMENT: I use this apartment whenever I come back to visit. It has two bedrooms (one with a queen-sized bed, the other with two single beds), two bathrooms (each with a shower and WC), separate kitchen, a living/dining room and a separate study, plus a small area with the washing machine/drier. WiFi internet, cable TV, bluetooth audio (so you can stream music from your portable device) is of course available, and you can access your NETFLIX or VUDU account (if you have one) and even YouTube and (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) via the internet-connected BlueRay DVD player. The flat is located on the first floor (above ground level, the lower row of windows you see in the picture) in a residential apartment building, with several families with children. The kitchen is fully equipped with conventional gas oven, microwave, toaster, large fridge, small coffee machine and italian expresso percolator. All windows face the street and trees (while many other apartments on offer lead to inner courtyards, which may be quieter, but do not offer nice views - in my opinion). As this is my apartment, you can also find two of my guitars there (feel free to use the acoustic guitar). The flat is completely furnished, but I just got it not long ago and still want to add a few things, like more lamps and paintings. The office, by the way also has an HP 1515 all in one printer (USB cable), but it would up to the guest to replenish the ink cartridge(s) or paper if needed. Different check-in and check-out times than currently posted can be agreed. And should you have rented a car: the apartment has a parking space, available for a small extra fee. NEIGHBOURHOOD / PUBLIC TRANSIT NOTE: See my Guidebook for a selection of local tips and favourites. A supermarket is three blocks away, and small shops offering fruit, basic food or other household items are on the same and adjacent blocks. The Roma (Norte) area, together with the "Condesa" have recently become quite fashionable. The area combines traditional buildings from the early 1900s with more modern constructions. Its original wide streets, boulevards and small parks filled with trees remain. It is still home to about 1,100 mansions and other architecturally and historically important structures, mostly built between 1906 and 1939. More at "Colonia_Roma" on Wikipedia. The Cordoba Street is not a traffic artery, so it is reasonably quiet for Mexico City. There are several bank branches with ATM/cash machines nearby. In the immediate neighborhood you will find many nice restaurants, within 10 minutes walking distance there are two shopping centers with movie theaters (Pabellon Cuahtemoc, and Centro Insurgentes). The traditional Alvaro Obregon Avenue and Casa Lamm are also only a 10 minute walk away. The doubldecker hop-on-hop-off TURIBUS stops at Casa Lamm on Av Alvaro Obregon and is a great way to get to know Mexco City. To get to the Condesa, it is a 15 minute walk. Trolleybus lines on adjacent streets will take you east (towards Av Cuahtemoc and beyond) and west (towards Av Insurgentes and beyond). And the "Hospital General" subway station as well as a busstop of the special-lane Metrobus rapid transit (also "hospital general") are less than a 10 minute walk from the apartment. If you wish, there are many taxis driving by in any of the adjacent streets. The Metrobus from Av Cuautemoc takes you in 5 stops to the famous arts market of Ciudadela and on to the downtown region (a taxi from the apartment to downtown ("centro historico" / Alameda) would cost you the equivalent of perhaps USD 2 to 3). Av Insurgentes is a 10 minute walk away and you get on the metro bus to San Angel from there. The subway from Hospital General takes you north in few stops to Alameda park (Juarez or Hidalgo stations). From the final stop, Indios verdes, you can fetch buses to the Teotihaucan pyramids. South, the subway takes you to Coyoacan (centro Coyiacan shopping centre), and "Viveros" near the park and colonial Francisco Sosa street (see subway map at www dot metro dot df dot gob dot mx/imagenes/red/redinternet.pdf) For bikers: there is an ECO-BICI stand less than 100 meters away. See the "Guidebook" on how to obtain a one-day pass (ca 8 USD) or three-day pass. A good acquaintance of mine in Mexico is taking care of the apartment while I am in Europe. I immediately felt good in my new flat and in the neighborhood and hope you will as well. Guest AccessYou have access to the apartment (note: there is only one set of keys). Interaction with GuestsAs mentioned, an aquaintance of mine, Mayte, takes care of the apartment when I am not there. She will hand over the keys and receive them when you leave and check that everything is OK. But she lives in a different part of town. The Neighborhoodsee my AirBnB GUIDEBOOK. You can also look up "Colonia Roma, Mexico" on Wikipedia. Getting Aroundfor the immediate neighbourhood: walking is great. For places farther away, I'd recommend a taxi. In order to get to the "centro historico" there is a rapid bus line ("metro bus") nearby, but again: a taxi might be easier, and it is not expensive. Other Things to NotePower outages may happen. As you may know, Mexico City is in an earthquake zone. So occasionally there might be quakes. The house is well built and has never suffered any damages. But what can happen after a smaller quake (or a a strong rainfall - between June and October- or for unknown reasons) is that the power may be interrupted for a few minutes and in rare occasions several hours. Again, not a regular occurrence, but it might happen.
