The SpaceThe house is a 2400 square foot, two story house with three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. On the first floor, there is a living room and adjoining dining room that has plenty of space. Currently, the dining room table is small and seats four people, although more chairs can be pulled up. We will look to getting a bigger table in the future. Coming off of the living/dining space is what we like to call the sunroom. It's basically another large living room space with a television and a view of the lake. It's our favorite place in the house! On the other side of the living/dining room is the kitchen with bar. The kitchen is stocked with the essentials- pots, pans, silverware, plates/bowls, cups/mugs, coffee maker, kettle, etc. As well, there is a large refrigerator and a stove/oven that guests can use (note: please don't burn down the house!).
On the second floor are the three bedrooms, separated by a common area. In the common area is a daybed that can sleep two small bodies or one large one. The master bedroom has a queen size bed and it's own bathroom with shower, sink, and toilet. The second bedroom also has a queen size bed. The third bedroom has two twin size beds and a desk. All of the bedrooms have closet space that guests can use. There is a second full bathroom off the common room for the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms to use.
The house has a garage that I store my car in when we're not there. Guests can access the garage to store bikes, lake gear, etc. but please be respectful of my vehicle. There is not room for guests to park their cars in the garage, sorry! Behind the garage is a boiler/mud room. Guests can use this space to clean off, store things, etc., just be respectful of the items in the room please.
Outside, we have a driveway that guests can park in. Off the driveway, there is a large yard with a firepit for guests to use. In the back of the house (off the sunroom) is a back patio. If requested, guests can use our gas grill out here. From the front yard, guests will be able to see the connecting lawn that heads to the lake right across from the dirt road. We co-own this lawn with four other houses. In the warm months, the dock will be out at the end of this lawn, into the lake. Guest AccessDownstairs:
Guests can access all rooms. We ask that you please be respectful of our belongings, as we do live in the house part of the year. Our car is in the garage, so if you enter there, please keep clear of the car. Please do not go in the storage space above the garage - we keep our pet monster chained up there. Be warned.
Guests can access all rooms. Some of our belongings may be in the closets. We ask that you respectfully steer clear of these. Feel free to use the remaining space in the closets for your own clothes.
It's important to us that our guests understand that the shared yard space near the dock, and the dock itself does not only belong to us. Guests need to be extremely respectful and courteous while using this space as the other residents who co-own it may be using it at the same time as you. If we begin to get complaints from our neighbors, we will have to restrict access to this space- and we really don't want to do that to our guests! As well, if you're using the dock with children, please be careful. We don't want any injuries, or worse.
One last point- there are only boring things in the metal shed in the yard. Guests don't need to go in there. Thanks! Interaction with GuestsI live on the other side of the planet, so it's unlikely you'll meet me in person. However, my in-laws, Ken and Laurie, live down the road a ways. You'll likely meet them upon arrival, unless you're coming in late. They will be coming the afternoon/evening you leave to tidy up as well. They're maybe the nicest people on earth, so if you need anything, they'll be willing to help. As well, I'm an email or Airbnb message away, and can help when available. Just keep in mind that I'm 12 hours ahead of you, and we'll be fine! The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is a quiet lakeside community. The people here are not into partying, so if you're looking for a place that you can relax, but also have some fun, this is just right for you. The neighbors probably won't take well to loud parties, so maybe think about that before booking. Getting AroundThere's no great public transportation around, but everything is easily accessible by personal vehicle. Other Things to NoteThe dock is only available in the warm months, and only if the other homeowners who co-own it aren't using it. Let's be peaceable!
