The SpaceThis is a large, comfortable five bed roomed house overlooking a valley. The balcony's a great place for an afternoon drink while enjoying the wonderful bush land views and is a good place to spot the local residents: koalas, cockatoos and kookaburras.
The house is perfect for large family gatherings, interstate visitors attending family events, and weekend get-a-ways for groups of friends. Its proximity to Flinders University and Medical Centre make it an ideal base for visiting patients or for short term visitors to the university.
Recent renovations include:
a new bathroom, stove and range hood, curtains, floor coverings and light fittings.
The five bedrooms can sleep eight people and all have large built in wardrobes.
There is a queen and two single bedrooms downstairs and a queen and double upstairs.
A Matt Blatt Le Vele sofa bed in the downstairs lounge provides a king sized bed.
Two single sofa beds in the upstairs family room means that the house can sleep 12 people.
The sheets are 1000 thread count, the quilts are wool with high thread count covers. Fluffy towels, Turkish towel, toiletries, bathrobes, slippers for adult guests and two hairdryers are provided.
All the bedrooms have large built in wardrobes.
There are two bathrooms:
the downstairs bathroom services the three downstairs bedrooms and has a tub- ideal for relaxing in or for bathing children.
the upstairs bathroom is brand new with a frameless shower screen and subway tiles.
The flexible floor plan and spacious living areas makes the house ideal for a large family group or for groups of friends.
The lounge/dining room on the ground floor has bush land views, is roomy enough for large family gatherings and has a flat screen tv and dvd player.
The second living room upstairs and the balcony it leads onto are quiet, relaxing spaces.
Kitchen and alfresco:
The large eat-in kitchen has everything to make self-catering easy, including a new electric stove, glass range hood, a dishwasher, stone bench tops, pots, pans, crockery, glassware and utensils.
There's a covered patio adjoining the kitchen with a stone table setting and barbeque- a great place for casual dining.
Unlimited ADSL internet is available and there's a desk in one of the downstairs bedrooms which could easily be used as a study.
There is parking for three cars in two carports and for two more in a paved parking bay at the top of the property.
There's a split system in the lounge/dining room and ducted evaporative cooling throughout the house.
The garden features huge grey box gums, succulents and shrubs and is terraced with stone retaining walls. Stone steps lead down to the house from the parking area. Koalas and a wide variety of birds are regular visitors to the garden. Guest AccessThe whole house and garden is available for guest use. Interaction with GuestsI will be there to welcome you and show you around- although there is access for late arrivals, or if I'm unavailable for any reason. There are brochures and information in the house and I'm very happy to help with any additional information that you might need and really want to make sure that you have a great stay. The NeighborhoodBellevue Heights is a lovely, leafy and quiet neighbourhood. It's hard to believe that its so close to everything! There are cafes in Blackwood- five minutes drive away, and Wittunga- a lovely botanical park- great for a stroll or a picnic is on the way to the Blackwood shopping centre.
Belair National Park is only about 10 minutes further on and well worth a visit. I have included some other local points of interest in the Guidebook and can provide other information that you might need.
Although the area is so peaceful and quiet, the CBD is only 25 minutes away, it's only 12 minutes to Brighton beach, seven minutes to Flinders University and Medical Centre and Blackwood shopping precinct with supermarkets, specialty shops and cafes is five minutes away.
A thirty minute drive will have you in the McLaren Vale wine district and the wonderful coastline of the Fleurieu Peninsular is another half an hour further on.
The house itself is a lovely, relaxing retreat. It's position on the block ensures that you will not be overlooked by neighbours and the views of the Sturt Gorge can be enjoyed from the front of the house downstairs and upstairs from the balcony. Getting AroundBuses and trains that run to the city are within easy access. Other Things to NoteBasic supplies include milk, bread, butter and jam, cereal, juice, condiments, oil etc.
There's a coffee pod machine with pods, a plunger and ground coffee, tea bags, leaf tea and teapots and hot chocolate and marshmallows. There is also a bottle of wine and chocolates to make you feel at home.
