The SpaceThis recently remodeled studio apartment is a calming oasis. While it is attached to the main house, it has its own entrance, and outdoor sitting area. By arrangement with the host, you can stroll the 1.5 acre grounds and enjoy the cool afternoon breeze, or sit out in the evening, and watch the lights come on in the valley. Then kick back with a glass of wine and enjoy the peaceful sounds of the owls in the trees.

Cotati is also central to all the Sonoma County destination activities. Wine tasting for sure, with 100's of wineries within 30 miles. Micro-breweries abound. Foodies will enjoy the many world class chefs and their locally sourced ingredients.
Sonoma County is known as one of the top cycling destinations in the country, (my favorite activity), there is Russian River kayaking, the Point Reyes National Seashore and many other great hiking spots, canopy ziplines in Occidental, the redwood forest at Armstrong Woods, many eco-tourism outings, great golfing, Lake Sonoma for boating, and many backpacking and camping parks. And It's 30 minutes to the Pacific Ocean, gorgeous Bodega Bay, and Highway 1 which leads to towns north such as Jenner, Ft. Bragg and Mendocino.
The Green Music Center, a world class concert hall, the Luther Burbank Event Center and the huge new Graton Rancheria Casino are nearby. There are many spas and wellness centers, such as Osmosis in Freestone, the only day spa in the U.S. that offers the Cedar Enzyme Bath. And we are only 45 minutes from the Golden Gate and San Francisco, or "The City" as we call it.
The amount of music, wine and food festivals in Sonoma County is staggering. Cotati even has its own Accordion Festival with two days of national acts in August. In September there is the Plein Air Festival, celebrating the artists painting out and about in Sonoma and surrounding areas. For all the amazing things to do here, just look online for Sonoma County Events and Festivals.
The Cotati downtown is 6 blocks away and has many restaurants, coffee shops, bars and nightclubs, often with live music. Other nearby towns with great food and entertainment include Penngrove, Petaluma, Santa Rosa, Sebastopol, Graton, Healdsburg, and just over the hill, Napa, (wine, wine, wine),Yountville, (the French Laundry, best restaurant in the world), St. Helena (Meadowood, golf, croquet and one of the only Michelin three-star restaurants in California and Calistoga (mudbaths and hot mineral spas).
During the summer months, most of the local towns have weekly, open air farmers' markets, with fresh produce, live music, food and entertainment.
Also nearby is Oliver's Market, one of the best grocery stores anywhere. Part Whole Foods, part Trader Joe's, and all about providing local food and products in the friendliest and most affordable way possible. Interaction with GuestsI can offer advice on what to see and do here, but generally give you all the privacy you want. I am a working bass player and recording studio owner, (Zone Recording) so I am in touch with the local music scene. The NeighborhoodThe Cotati Highlands is a quiet and friendly neighborhood. Poplar Ave in particular is a favorite for walkers, joggers, and dog people. I do a two mile loop walk in the hills every morning and you are welcome to join me. We'll pass sheep, llamas, horses, goats, donkeys and the occasional deer.
The exalted feeling of living on top of a hill, the peaceful rolling countryside, the relaxing quality of gazing over the valley to the horizon and the sound of the breeze through the eucalyptus trees. This place has it all. Getting AroundCity and county busses come about 4 blocks away. I can provide schedules and advice. Downtown Cotati is walking distance if you call 6 blocks walking distance.
