The SpaceThe house is comfy with a wood stove, large kitchen and 3 cozy bedrooms upstairs. --Right now we are still upgrading the house and making improvements so we are keeping our prices low until all the fixes are done. But the surrounding woods, fields, ponds and glorious cliffs are spectacular and singular. If you're looking for 'great outdoors' this is a great place for you! The house however is an old farm house, heated mostly by wood stove (so it smells of wood smoke), the bedrooms are small, all the ceilings are low. The washroom and sun room are being redone and curtained off. The appliances and fixtures are not new but all work. We do our best to make you comfortable but this is not a luxury house. :) Guest AccessYou have access to the entire house and surrounding area. Also nearby there is a studio-space with yoga, aikido and other classes as well as free time available to just do your own thing. During the spring, summer and fall the Rail Trail cafe- with fantastic local grown fair- is nestled in the woods a short walk away. Interaction with GuestsYou can have the house to yourself or if you just want a room or two Andy our resident caretaker will give you any information you need- Just let us know before you come. We are an intentional community, so there are folks around the land, and we will happily come by and check on you or just say hello, but if you'd prefer total privacy that's fine too, just let us know and we'll give you space. ;) The NeighborhoodRosendale- just outside New Paltz NY in the hudson valley- is full of cafes with delicious local food, fantastic antique stores, a great community-run movie theater and seasonal festivals all year round. Also we are just a few miles from Mohonk mountain house and excellent rock climbing, ice climbing, cross country skiing, hiking and swimming areas. Although, our favorite thing is just to walk in the miles and miles of woods and fields just outside the farm house door. Getting AroundBUS- One and a half hours from Penn Station in NYC, the farm is just two miles from the Rosendale bus station, an easy bike ride (but you'll need a bag or box for you bike on the bus. If you take the bus without a bike, take it to New Paltz and take a cab from there, should be about $20. BY CAR- Car is the best way to get there, and there is plenty of parking at the house and in the area. There are also several car rental spots in New Paltz that are inexpensive. We have a dirt road! During the winter it is quite snowy and icy. The driveway is plowed but please drive carefully! In the summer it is bumpy, and sometimes muddy so again please drive slowly!!! DRIVING DIRECTIONS FROM NY THRUWAY 87 Take Exit 18 New Paltz Poughkeepsie. Turn left at the first light. Drive all the way through town to the bottom of the hill (several lights, lots of grocery stores and restaurants.) Turn Right on Route 32 (Mobile gas station is on the corner) Go about 5 miles, over a little partially covered metal bridge. Take your first Left onto River Road. Keep going over Springtown road. After 1.5 miles the road turns into a dirt road. Keep going! After driving through the big open field you will see a sage green house on the left, with a big willow tree in front. That's your house! Enjoy!!! Other Things to NoteWe have Wifi, but it is intermittent at best. We do our best to keep it going but it just doesn't always work. Country life. :-/ There is highspeed wifi nearby at our counseling center that you are welcome to use. The Rail Trail cafe is open Weekends in the summer, and is delicious locally grown food. There are also usually music or story telling events there on Saturday evenings. We have horses, cats, dogs and chickens as well as many gardens nearby. You are always welcome to say hello to any of our furry neighbors or spend a little time in the garden. We also are home to The Center for Symbolic Studies. Go to (URL HIDDEN) for more information about our not-for-profit. Andy lives in the house when we don't have full house guests and he has two doggys. If you're allergic to pet hair (or wood smoke) this is probably not a good place for you. But if you have a furry friend you'd like to bring along please do!

A separate bedroom off another set of stairs shares a bathroom with a twin bed in an open loft space overlooking the kitchen. The third floor is open with a queen bed and a twin and a loft space with another queen bed. It has its own kitchenette and bathroom. Uniquely furnished with antiques and original art, it is cozy and sophisticated with a sense of humor. You will love it. Guest AccessPretty much everything! Interaction with GuestsI do not live in this house, so you will have it to yourselves. The NeighborhoodThis home is situated in the center of everything. It is 10-20 from Woodstock, Rhinebeck, Kingston, New Paltz, Rosendale--hiking, culture, eateries galore. It is also a wonderful place to just hang out -- all year round. I leave notes in the home with recommendations on things to see and do, restaurants, food shopping, etc. Getting AroundThere is public transit, but I would recommend bringing a car so you can explore all the area has to offer. Other Things to NoteWe recycle and compost, and care about our carbon footprint in general.

The SpaceTurn onto a long country driveway, down the lane through an open farm field, up through a stretch of trees and you'll arrive at this picturesque log cabin set on 18 private acres. As you look out over the Esopus Creek that borders the property from the big covered porch, you'll feel like you're a million miles from it all. Yet you're in convenient proximity to everything you'd want: 5 minutes to Stone Ridge, 10 minutes to High Falls (and its great swimming hole), 12 minutes to Kingston and the NYS Thruway, 20 minutes to Woodstock, a couple of miles from Davenport Farm Stand and antique shops, 45-hour from the ski slopes, and much more. But you're likely to find that you want to do nothing more than stay on the property. The house has a spacious open floor plan with living room, dining room, and kitchen together -- with 20 ft. vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, and hardwood floors throughout. It's a great communal space. There's a large wood-burning fireplace. If the big couch and fur-lined lounge chairs don't consume you, the large, fluffy rug and floor pillows are perfect for cozying up by the fire for games and hangs. There's a high-end sound system with Bluetooth and a cinematic projector with 7 ft. screen that drops down over the fireplace for watching movies on the big screen (and a ~100-DVD collection). The kitchen has a pro-style gas range and high-powered hood, lots of granite counter space, and a large island with bar stools. You'll find everything you need, including cookware, bakeware, good knives, mixer, blender, serving dishes, barware, dishwasher, and more. Plus there's a large BBQ grill right off the kitchen. The large teak dining table seats eight with plenty of room to spread out. There are three large, comfortable bedrooms, one with a king bed upstairs and two downstairs: one with a queen bed and one with a twin-over-full bunk bed. Each bedroom has its own full bathroom. With each bed space occupied, the house sleeps seven. Great for just a couple too! The large porch off the main room looks out over the expansive backyard and Esopus Creek (good for gazing and fishing; not for swimming given the depth), complete with creekside gazebo and hammock. The porch has an eight-person table and a couple of lounge chairs. With the leaves off the trees, you have a great view of the creek and a thousand acres of farmland and mountain range across. The (unfinished) basement has a ping pong table, washer, dryer, and walk-out access to the backyard. Take out the binoculars and you're likely to see many bird species, deer, beavers, turkeys, and more. And feel free to explore the paths around the property. The house is in the town of Marbletown but has a Kingston postal address. I'm happy to answer any questions you may have. Guest AccessYou'll receive a door code for access, so you can arrive whenever you like! Interaction with GuestsYou'll have the property completely to yourself. I'm available to answer questions and provide recommendations. A local caretaker is also available to stop by in person if need be. Getting AroundBy car, the house is 12 minutes from Exit 19 off the NYS Thruway. The Trailways bus stop in Kingston is also 12 minutes away. Other Things to NotePlease note that there is a hot tub at the house that is *not* included with the rental. The wifi is via satellite and thus slowwww. It's perfectly fine for texts and email, but not good with heavy data streaming like video (which is disabled). Music streaming generally works fine, however. Cellphone reception is spotty. However, there is a landline. For the summer: there are air conditioning units in two of the three bedrooms, but not in the main room (living room / kitchen / dining). Breeze and ceiling fans generally do the trick.

The SpaceThis is not a regular house. The living room is the bedroom, the bed is close to the fridge and the front door, the bathroom is weird and nothing is regular. So if you need an everyday house please don't book this one. This is an artist's house. Rustic, quiet space off a not too busy road. Attic is half open, half finished, but it won't bother you. Full size bed is in the living room right now because bedroom was turned into a wood shop. There is another twin size bed in the kids room. Three people can sleep here. You can see fireflies in June, beautiful night sky, listen to the peepers every night. Nothing fancy as it says in the title. The price is for the whole house (not the wood shop) and the reason it is lower than most is because all the mixed up features, and because I leave my cat with you. She is an indoor cat and very sweet. The wood stove is only available to use for experienced users. Chimney fires are very dangerous for you and my house. The other heat option is an electric oil radiator to warm the place at night. That has to be unplugged when you are not in the house and when you leave. I am very easy going. The house is not impeccable, so not for neat freaks, but cute and comfy. See you soon! Guest AccessWifi, Wood stove (available for experienced users only), electric oil radiator, off street parking, yard, front porch, fire pit in the back. Interaction with GuestsWe can keep in touch via phone, or email while I am gone. One of my neighbor is also available to help if needed. The NeighborhoodNice neighbors, close to New Paltz, High Falls, Woodstock and many hiking places such as Minnewaska State Park, Mohonk Preserve. Getting AroundBesides irregularly scheduled Ucat buses, not much public transportation. So you will probably need a car or a bicycle. Other Things to NoteNo washing machine, no drier, no dishwasher. No tv chanels, only Netflix. House is nothing fancy. 1 full size bed in the kids room. One full size futon in living room. Small and medium size pets are welcome. Bedroom was turned into a wood shop, so that's off limit at the back of the house, so it won't bother you at all. Wifi yes. One kids bed available as well.
