The SpaceGorgeous very private and fully remodeled two bedroom home full of light and natural wood, with spectacular view on all sides! Enjoy the detached meditation studio or as a guest room separate from main house. Step out the door to the sight of the Olympic and Cascade Mountains, lush farmlands and the Straits of Juan de Fuca as you take beautiful and historical trails to water nearby on Ebey's National Park Reserve adjoining the property. Your well appointed home away from home is close to the small historical town of Coupeville. The town and the Prairie are rich in history. Gaze out the window at the bald eagles and the historical 1854 Jacob Ebey home, as well as the Issac Ebey house farther on. Walk the beach and tidal estuary, or spend time on the bluff and the forest nearby. Visit local restaurants, galleries and wineries. Or just come to rest and enjoy the quiet, the fresh air. Contact Claire to see about making arrangements. All inquiries welcome. There is a large deck with barbeque overlooking the water and the mountains. A NO pet policy is in place and preference for no small children. The new Eastern Pine floors, heated from below are partial to soft soled shoes. The Wolf stove is partial to creative cooks. We would welcome small weddings or someone seeking a corporate getaway. Think peaceful, and also a great value. Guest AccessWhen guests book the house, basically the whole house is theirs. Generally, the office area and laundry are not used. The studio can be used as a separate room for added guests. Usage can be discussed and personalized. Interaction with GuestsI usually meet and greet the guests and show them around and give them a little history of the area. Also I show them a few details about the house. If I can't be here, which is not that often, I have my neighbor meet and greet who lives privately but nearby. The NeighborhoodI love my neighborhood as it is quiet and peaceful. Houses are spread out enough for privacy, Only six houses total. Beautiful walks, runs, right out the door! Getting Around There is public transit that is very efficient on the island. There is parking at the house. If guests are coming from the airport or Seattle in general they would have to account for a total of two hours to arrive in Coupeville and expect a 20 minute ferry ride across to Whidbey. Other Things to NoteThe house sleeps six people very comfortably. One or two guests would sleep in the studio that is detached from the main house but just a few feet away. The guests love it as it is a very cozy, private room with great views also.

The SpaceLarge rustic waterfront bedroom and family room on Whidbey Island near historic Coupeville, Oak Harbor, Fort Ebey State park and Deception Pass State Park and many other beaches. There is a separate entrance to the private first floor guest area. Both rooms have a great view of the water. The family room has a futon and other furnishings, a TV, and VHS player and a library of books, games and some video movies. The bedroom has a TV with DVD & VHS, and 2 queen-size beds. There is also a fold up single cot that brings the sleeping capacity to 7 people. (The cot and futon may be better for kids than adults and can be more comfortable on the floor than on the frames if you want a firmer bed.) There is 3/4 bathroom with a shower. There is a nook off the family area with dishes, a refrigerator, toaster, microwave, coffee-maker and electric wok, a Crock Pot, popcorn maker and popcorn. A recent guest also gave us a new Keurig type coffee maker. We have a casserole dish with a glass lid to cook food in the microwave-rather than in plastic. There's not a full kitchen at this time but a beach fire can also be used to cook hot dogs etc. This is an older house with older furnishings, but what makes it special is that it is on the beach. The high tide water laps up on the retaining wall foundation of the house. During the day, there is a water view of Penn Cove and the Cascade Mountains in the distance. At night the lights of Coupeville shine across the water. On the beach in front of the house, you can enjoy the sunrise on a clear day, take a long walk, or swim. Bring your art supplies, a book, or launch your kayak, or go for a country bike ride. We have two bikes and a paddle-board (for use on our beach only) available to rent. The paddle-board is very stable and good for beginners. Paddling around the dock and along the beach at our house is fun and an excellent place to learn. The water in front of our house is usually calm like a lake unless it is windy or there is a storm. Our beach has pebbles and small rocks, driftwood logs, and sea life. When the tide is out there is a sandy area also. There are other more sandy beaches and hiking trails within a few miles. There are restaurants and grocery stores in Coupeville and Oak Harbor 5 miles drive or a bus ride away. 3 Sisters Market is 2 blocks away and has beef products from their family cattle farm and some other grocery foods and produce from local farms. There is a free bus on Whidbey Island that stops across the street from the house. It will go all the way to the Mukleteo-Clinton Ferry to the south and Deception Pass to the north. Another bus goes to the Pt Townsend/ Coupeville Ferry. The buses do take a couple bicycles but do not run on Sunday. There is street parking available in front of the house. Access to the space for rent has 1 flight of stairs. Access to the beach is easy for most people, but might be challenging for someone with limited mobility. There is a cement walkway and large patio area level with the downstairs living area that allows the outdoor enjoyment of the beach without getting down onto the beach. The house and beach are kid friendly, but not childproof for small children. Summer is a great time to be at the beach, but winter can also be a wonderful time at the beach house. I was there on November 29th, a windy day with bigger waves than the usual. The sun came out for several hours after it rained and the beach was beautiful, with seagulls searching for food, and the high tide lapping at the driftwood. This house belonged to my Dad, Earle who sadly just passed away in October 2015 at age 96. A year ago he was still fixing and riding tractors and farming 30 acres of flowers (on several parcels of land a few miles from this beach house). Many of our guests enjoyed meeting him. He lived in the upstairs portion of the beach house which may have an extra room available to rent soon. We may be putting the house up for sale in a couple months and will try to have limits on the times it can be shown to prospective buyers to protect our guests privacy. Most of our guests come for only 1-3 days and I think we can try to schedule house viewings between guest visits. If Airbnb guests come for longer stays, we may have to schedule times to show the guest suite during their stay. For now we will continue to offer the guest suite on Airbnb. My name is Vivian and I own a flower shop in Seattle and have been visiting/helping my dad Tuesday-Friday. The beach house is a wonderful get away for me. I hope you will enjoy your time here too. Vivian Interaction with GuestsI work in Seattle on weekends and usually don't meet our guests unless they come for midweek. The guest space is a private space for the guests and we try to respect their privacy--but if the guests are interested, I have given paddle-board lessons and shared stories around a camp fire and time on the beach with them. I also love to play scrabble if I have spare time. Getting AroundThere is a free bus that stops across the street that runs Monday -Saturday (not on Sunday). It goes south to Coupeville and the Mukleteo Ferry. The bus goes North to Oak Harbor where you can transfer to other another bus to Deception Pass State Park or go further to Mt. Vernon. We also have 1 bike for rent will have another this summer. There is a Airport shuttle bus also. Other Things to NoteBy x-mas 2015, this house will be listed for sale. We will try to do showings between airbnb guest visits. But if someone comes for a longer stay, we may need to schedule a showing during their stay.

The SpaceWe've had from 1 person to 12 people rent our vacation home for as little as 2 nights up to 12 months. Other times, we just sit on the expansive deck viewing wildlife such as the bald eagle that perches on the nearby pier, or the Kingfisher (bird) hovering right out front hunting for fish the other day (and diving for them)! Resident seals and otters swim by and send us curious stares. And then there are all the great parks and beaches to explore nearby. Deception Pass will take your breath away. A short 10 minute drive to Coupeville is always rewarded with ice cream for the kids at their fabulous ice cream parlor, Kapaw's - $3 for 3 scoops on a waffle cone - yum! Where can you find that?
