The SpaceThis gorgeous historic antebellum mansion was built in 1836 (before Atlanta was established) and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is considered to be one of the best examples of antebellum architecture in the South and has been featured in numerous books, newspapers, and even in many movies and TV shows! This award-winning inn was also selected by the editors of Southern Living for the prestigious Southern Living Hotel Collection calling it a “gem of the South”. Margaret Mitchell was so intrigued by this home that she sent a photograph of it to the producers of Gone with the Wind along with a note that said, "I like this for Ashley’s home" and the set design for Twelve Oaks was inspired by this grand mansion!
At the Twelve Oaks, you feel like you are stepping back in time, but taking every modern luxury and convenience with you! The mansion was completely renovated in 2012-2013. Every guest room has its own private luxurious bath. Pictures of all the rooms and the baths can be seen on our website. All rooms have fireplaces that work by remote control, flat panel TVs, wonderfully soft Turkish robes and towels, L’Occitane amenities, and high end mattresses and bedding for a blissful night’s sleep. Our rates include a full home-cooked and locally sourced breakfast, our Southern Sippin’ and Nibblin’ hour in the afternoon, and turn down service in the evening with chocolate truffles. We have a Butler’s Pantry on the third floor that has a full size refrigerator, a sink, a Kuerig coffee maker and a microwave for guests use. High speed WIFI and parking are also included. The rooms all have blue-ray DVD players and there is a movie and book lending library to choose from. With over 11,000 square feet in the mansion and over 3 acres of grounds with a pergola and a gazebo, a pool, a pond, huge oak trees, and a huge deck, you're sure to relax in style.
The Twelve Oaks has met all code requirements and has all appropriate permits unlike many listings on this site. What that means for you is that so you can be assured of a safe, comfortable and clean place to stay. You can lock the door of your room with a secure lock. The inn is regularly inspected by the fire department, health department, and other code officials. This insures that if there is a fire, there are working fire alarm systems and sprinkler systems. Our staff has been trained on proper cleaning and food preparation procedures to ensure your health and comfort. The Twelve Oaks is often used in filming and can be seen in some of your favorite movies and television shows such as Vampire Diaries, Vacation, In the Heat of the Night, and many more.
