The SpaceOur comfortable home in Mainstrasse is an easy walk or quick cab ride to Reds game, downtown, or Newport on the Levee. We are .7 miles from the Mariott RiverCenter in Covington. For the breakfast, feel free to eat anything you find in the kitchen, bring food, cook, or otherwise! A cheap neighborhood restaurant - The Anchor Grill - is just over a block away and serves breakfast 24/7! Their motto is "We may doze, but never close!" With their "live performing" doll jukebox, it's an experience that can't be missed. Best Goetta in the world :) --------- Located in a historic district, our home, like many around us, is over 100 years old and a German shotgun style house. You would have access to our entire second floor, including the living room, kitchen, your room, and the shared bathroom, with more details below. As many people who want to stay in the room are welcome, just note we only have one bathroom. :) My husband and I are both busy professionals, but love to host and be home on the weekends. He is a public school middle school teacher and part-time bartender and I am a public interest attorney/licensed massage therapist. We are flexible and easy going and love company. We have had lots of roommates over the years and enjoy sharing our home. Our guests have unlimited access to our entire second floor. Our second floor includes the private guest room, the shared living room with 3 couches, 42" flat screen television with cable including HBO, an XBox with kinect and games, a (website hidden) chrome cast for watching anything on a laptop or cell phone on the television, and more. The second floor also includes the shared bathroom and shower, the shared kitchen - in which nothing is sacred - feel free to eat or drink anything you find and store anything in the fridge or use the oven, etc., and our large deck. The deck has a large table and seating for 6 for outdoor dining. We have a grill and a large umbrella for sunny fun! We also have front loading energy efficient washer and dryer guests are welcome to use on the second floor. Up to you (and if we are in town) - Feel free to let us know via message what you think works best - it is completely possible to stay with us and not cross paths much if at all, but you are welcome to hang out with us if you want! We live in Mainstrasse. It is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Northern Kentucky. It is the German neighborhood where we still have lots of German restaurants, bars, and festivals. We are just a couple of blocks off of I-75/71, equidistant between the two Covington exits (192 and 191), and within a 3 block radius there are dozens of bars, restaurants, and shops! Mainstrasse is charming and unique. When I go to vote for the "best of" in Greater Cincinnati - I largely find all of my winners in our neighborhood! No comparison we have: * the best dog shop (Strasse Dog) * the best bartender (Bill) at Wiseguys * the best pizza (Goodfellas) * the best tomato pie/KY food (Otto's) * the best burgers (Zola's) * the best live jazz (Dee Felice) * the best pierogis, sausages, brussel sprouts, German food, german bar (Wunderbar) You can check out our neighborhood by searching for Mainstrasse or by going to the website with the same (website hidden) The Tank Bus - I can't include the website because airbnb hides websites - but it is the Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky - has stops on either side of our house, just a few blocks away, and the main bus transit center is within easy walking distance, approximately half a mile. The Northern Kentucky Convention Center in Covington is just under a mile away and easily accessible by car, bike, or walking. The Duke Energy Convention Center in Cincinnati is around a mile and a half away (1.6 miles) and an easy walk, bike, or on the $1 Tank Shuttle. We have a mountain bike that Cara used for years for her work commute around Covington and guests are welcome to use the bike anytime! We will give you the lock code when you book! We have two super sweet beagles and a terrier who are willing to provide attention and affection and play or nap with guests, or stay in their crates for some more quiet time. :) Most importantly, our home is a safe space and open to all walks of life. Social justice, folks of color, and LGBTQI friendly! We have the best overall inclusive/gay-friendly community in Greater Cincinnati. :) Guest AccessGuests have access to the entire 2nd floor (your bedroom, living room, kitchen, bathroom, and deck) and you can feel free to eat or drink anything you find and use any toiletries. The SpaceThe space is a single private apartment that also functions as an art gallery. The current exhibitions Gallery 1: "Sheep Head, Dog Meat" by Nico Gardner Nico Gardner is a Japanese-American interdisciplinary artist interested in assimilation, the counterfeit, and the mundane. Through performance, video and sculpture, he navigates the difficult space between a critique of capitalist society and an embrace of popular culture. Nico Gardner’s latest works on paper and sculptures discuss the melodramatic territory where modernist painting, interior design, and product advertisement meet, clash, and argue with each other. Gardner initiates his process by cutting and mixing printed images expropriated from mainstream American catalogues. These miniscule, para-formalist collages reminiscent of paper-doll clothing begin to stack atop one another like files on a desktop, occasionally to the point of abstraction. This iconography is gradually pulled into sculptural space and enlarged, taking on a new objecthood that is stuck somewhere between the manicured flatness of commercial product imagery and the actual products in their casual, utilitarian realities. These suto-dimensional sculptures, constructed from wood, fabric, and repurposed clothing, present a precise attention to the simulacral qualities of texture, color, and shape. In their physical lives, Gardner’s image-object hybrids fill an uncanny void created by the inherent failure of consumer-culture that dips between the desirable demand and supplied mediocrity. While these sculptures depict the seductivity of products in their rarest pictorial form, they also are new objects in and of themselves, ready to go back on display; the wall, the mannequin stand, the gallery. Gallery 2: "Second Wave" By Chase Melendez Local artist Chase Melendez’s current painting practice derives from an ongoing vague Sci-Fi invasion narrative. This narrative provides the starting point and structure for his work. Different works reference different story elements from this narrative. He uses the narrative to explore formal interests such as: form, space, pattern, and color. With a consistent color palette and stylistic stripe motif, he aims to create graphic abstract 2D compositions. Ultimately, the narrative may end up being self-serving as no knowledge or recognition of the narrative is needed for the viewer to engage with the work. A small gift shop of art by artists being exhibited is available also. Guest AccessInternet, equipped kitchen, equipped bathroom, living room, TV Interaction with GuestsWe live in a separate unit in the same building. We are available if guests need anything from food and nightlife advice to needs within the space. The NeighborhoodClose to Mainstrasse and Downtown Cincinnati Getting AroundBus, bikes and walking distance to local attractions Other Things to Note-This is a historical area. - We hope sleeping with the art really gives guests an opportunity to experience art in a way they never have before, in a much more immersive capacity.

The SpaceWe have a cute and historic (c. 1870s) lofted 2 level Italianate rowhouse with a shotgun layout, and you can use the entire house. Hardwood floors throughout and exposed brick. There is a living room, game room (with a pool table, dartboard, and a record player), dining room, kitchen, and bathroom. The kitchen has a combo washer/dryer that is very convenient. Upstairs is the lofted bedroom with a queen sized bed and a replica vintage record player. There is a full sized Ikea bed in the dining room as well as a large new sleeper sofa in the living room. A blow up bed can easily be set up as well if needed. The newly renovated stone back patio includes a patio table set, Adirondack chairs, two person swing, cornhole/bags set, garden, and in-ground stone fire pit with grill. Guests are welcome to use all amenities. Guest AccessGuests are allowed to access all parts of the home. Feel free to take a beer from the fridge :) Interaction with GuestsWe won't be staying at the house, but will be available via phone/text and may be able to show you around depending on what time you get in. We will also leave keys for the front and back doors. The NeighborhoodWe are located in Covington's historic Mainstrasse Village, which is known for its beautiful 19th century architecture and German heritage. We're on a quiet street but we're just one block west of Mainstrasse (Main Street in German), which is one of the largest entertainment (restaurants, bars, music, art, shopping, festivals) districts in the Cincinnati area. The house is walkable to downtown Cincinnati and has easy access to I-71/75. Getting AroundAlthough Mainstrasse has plenty of attractions and is extremely walkable, it is located just across the Ohio River from downtown Cincinnati and a couple blocks from the interstate. You can easy walk downtown to visit the stadiums, museums, restaurants, concerts, festivals, etc. For instance, our house is exactly 1.35 miles to the Paul Brown Stadium where the Bengals play. In addition, the Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky operates the Southbank Shuttle, which for $1 loops takes you to downtown Cincinnati and Newport, KY, which is home to the Newport on the Levee entertainment complex and the Newport Aquarium. The Southbank Shuttle has a stop 2 blocks directly north of us on 5th St and runs about every 15 minutes. Furthermore, taxis are easy to find in the neighborhood, especially near Mainstrasse and 6th street, and Uber services the area. Some local bars run shuttles to the Reds and Bengals games. Although there are some meters nearby (especially nearest the local businesses), most street parking in the area is free with no restrictions. However, we do leave a guest parking pass to hang from your rear view mirror as required on our block of Bakewell St and a couple other blocks nearby - just check for signs wherever you park. Other Things to NoteThe front door is very old, so you have to push really hard to open and close it.

Beautiful, spacious and clean townhouse with 3 BR and 2.5 Baths and an attached 2 car garage. You will love the open floor plan of the main living area. Nestled amongst other townhomes on a hill with partial views of the Cincinnati Skyline from the balconies. Conveniently located just minutes from Downtown Cincinnati, and I-71 / I-75. Perfect place for a group headed to conventions, sporting events, weddings, or just getting together. Very convenient to downtown and all that Cincinnati has to offer. Queen beds in each of three bedrooms and a queen pullout bed in living room. Washer and Dryer included Reviews from other Guests: 5/5 Stars! Our group of three couples had a great stay at this vacation rental. We were in Cincinnati to sight see and run the Flying Pig Marathon. We were able to be right near all the action without having to be immersed in it all weekend. It is very easy to drive down to Keystone Bar and park and walk across the BEAUTIFUL Roebling Bridge into downtown Cincinnati! It was great having our own parking, and we opted to go for a van cab instead of parking downtown when we were going out for the night. The kitchen is well appointed and let us prepare our own breakfasts and a couple other meals easily. There is plenty of space and was nice that each couple had their own bedroom. Depending on where you are coming from, to get to the vacation rental, like many cities, you do drive through a lower-middle class area with a diverse background of people. The townhome is among a group of at least 20 other townhomes where most of the families have children and are middle income or better for the most part. We felt incredibly comfortable and safe at all times at the rental and would recommend this place for anyone coming to Cincinnati! We will definitely be back! 5/5 Stars! We had a great stay in the Covington townhouse! It was easy to get around and the two car garage with free parking was very convenient. When we would go out at night we were near Covington's entertainment district and very close to downtown Cincinnati too. It was easy driving into the city or getting a cab / uber. We went to a couple of Reds games and had a great time! The townhouse is in a row of 20 other similar townhome buildings that were occupied by a diverse and friendly people, many with families and children. The place was a great size for our group and the large main group was great for accommodating a group our size. We will definitely be going back next time we head to Cincinnati!

The NeighborhoodThis neighborhood is described as historic and 'urban-lite'. There is some noise from the streets and we are located 3 blocks from both train tracks and a police station (in addition to the aforementioned amenities). Personally, I love the 'walkability' of the neighborhood, but it is a working class neighborhood that has not undergone gentrification. It's an authentic space. Getting AroundStreet parking, bus lines, pedestrian traffic, cabs, Uber, Lyft and Drivr (Lyft is usually cheaper in the Cincinnati area but only Uber and Drivr has access to the airport).
