The SpaceHello and welcome to The Barn, a wonderful place for your next holiday in the Daintree rainforest that's just opened for accommodation in July 2014. The Barn is situated on the side of the mountain bordering the world heritage national park and only a 10 minute walk to the beach in the middle of the unspoilt rainforest of cow bay. Main Features - 3 Ensuite bedrooms, 1 king and 2 queens (extra beds available) - 4 bathrooms - Accommodate up to 8 guests (for more please contact us) - Fantastic view of the ocean and rainforest across all 3 floors - Only 10 minutes walk or 2 minutes drive to Cow Bay beach! - Plenty of tours and activities in the area - Absolute privacy - Swimming pool, Pool table, Darts and much more - Getaway retreat that suits everyone, couples, families and friends Boasting unending views of the coral sea with the rainforest meeting reef the right in front of you, this is truly a place to unwind relax and forget about things for a while. The Barn is also a place where you won't forgo a bit of luxury, with three en suite bedrooms a fully equipped kitchen satellite TV, stereo system, billiard table, BBQ and a swimming pool, this three story pole house with 30 ft ceilings and glass walls from the ground up on 3 sides will truly take your breath away. And with the odd whale spotted from any of the three front verandas, cassowaries at the back door monitor lizards trying to sneak a dip in the pool, and the insect bats flying around the floodlights at night, lets you know that you are about as close to nature as can get. The Barn Daintree holiday house has 3 bedrooms, one on the top floor has a king size bed and two on the ground floor with queen size beds. We can accommodate up to 8 guests by setting up extra beds around the house and/or in the bedrooms and we are willing to accommodate more guest so please feel free to contact us. What to Expect The Barn is a self-reliant house in electrical power and water supply, the house is purely powered by solar panels. Because of this one does have to be efficient with power usage, we do advice you to use any equipment that uses high consumption of power such as the washing machine and dish washer, during the day when the sun is out, it is also advised to turn things such as lights and fans off if not in use. As long as power is not wasted The Barn is easily capable of powering the house through the day and night. The Barn does have a landline, however phone signal and internet is currently not available, you can though easily get Wi-Fi at local restaurants for a very small fee and phone signals with 3G can be found at the Alexandra range look out which is about a 10 minute drive. One thing to also note is that The Barn is designed to be opened to nature and because of its solar passive design this house naturally keeps itself cool at all times, therefor there are no flyscreens or air conditioning. Local Tourism There is plenty of activities and tours Daintree has to offer, there are a few Daintree tour sites (can't list here) you can visit to book tours and find all the information you need to help plan your holiday. We also keep tour brochures at The Barn which also contains a map of the area listing all the local stores, restaurants etc. Getting Here The Barn is located in the Daintree Rainforest at Cow Bay. To get here from cairns is approximately 120km which is about a 2 hour drive. You will be required to cross the Daintree River using the car ferry, which includes a fee each time you use it and we also provide you with a direction guide book to help find your way to The Barn as well as ferry tickets which can be mailed to you free of charge. If you are coming up from cairns we recommend you stop by Woolworths in Mossman town, which is an hour's drive from the house to grab your groceries before arriving. Rates per night. (This does not include Airbnb's booking fee) - base rate for 2 guests: $300 - extra 50$ for adults, $25 for children, per person per night. Give us an enquiry! We try to give out deals when we can. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact us. Recent Reviews (full reviews can be found on our website.) 8/10/2014 for a stay in August. " "Magical Experience" We were lucky enough to be the first ever paying guests at ‘The Barn’, a house built some 25 years ago by the mother of the current owner, Frank. On arrival our breath was taken away by the house and its spectacular location... The property has an exceptional feeling of exclusivity – we could have been the only two people in the entire world, with not a sign (or sound) of any other humans or human habitation to be seen. Just the ocean and the ancient rainforest, although the activities and attractions of Cape Tribulation are not far away and are easily accessible... Unusually in this non mains-powered area north of the Daintree River, the house has sufficient solar panels and storage batteries to power a dishwasher and washing machine, both of which we used. Everything is on a generous scale – couches, tables, living spaces, pool, even the number of pots and pans. Peace and quiet, luxury and nature, adventure and wonder, all these you will find in the Daintree and The Barn. Wholeheartedly recommended." 3/10/2014 " " Fantastic view" For us this was a truly unique property that my parents, my partner and I thought was terrific. It's a great place to unwind and relax out on the balcony with 'million dollar' views of the sea and surrounding forest... One side can be completely opened up to the huge balcony that runs the length of the house and has a fantastic view of the sea. Just the perfect place to lounge around with a G&T reading a book, doing the crossword or having a BBQ!... One morning we were fortunate enough to encounter 3 cassowaries crossing the front drive way!!... Overall we found this place to be truly magic and a great place to escape and explore the Daintree." 27/9/2014 "We have loved our stay at The Barn. It is a spectacular hideaway, especially the pool!!! The kids were well entertained... they even spotted a Cassowary! Priceless!... over all it was truly a wonderful experience to have stayed at such an amazing place. We would love to come back & will be telling everyone who will listen about this little paradise... " 7/9/2014 "...wonderful, relaxing and fun stay at The Barn. It has been so comfortable and we love the whole layout, decor and character of the place. We would not hesitate to stay again and recommend you to our friends..." Bore water is where we get our water supply from, this is water that has been drawn from a body of underground water, which is also drinkable. Hello and welcome to The Barn, a wonderful place for your next holiday in the Daintree rainfores that's just opened for accommodation in July this year. The Barn is situated on the side of the mountain bordering the world heritage national park and only a 10 minute walk to the beach in the middle of the unspoilt rainforest of cow bay. Boasting unending views of the coral sea with the rainforest meeting reef the right in front of you, this is truly a place to unwind relax and forget about things for a while. The Barn is also a place where you won't forgo a bit of luxury, with three en suite bedrooms a fully equipped kitchen satellite TV billiard table, stereo system, BBQ and a swimming pool, this three story pole house with 30 ft ceilings and glass walls from the ground up on 3 sides will truly take your breath away. And with the odd whale spotted from any of the three front verandas, and cassowaries at the back door and monitor lizards trying to sneak a dip in the pool, and the insect bats flying around the floodlights at night, lets you know that you are about as close to nature as can get. The Barn Daintree holiday house has 3 bedrooms the one on the top floor has a king size bed and two ground floor with queen size beds which opens onto the pool area. We can accommodate up to 6 people with prior notice of course, for a larger group you can call for details. We can also do functions weddings etc. What to Expect The Barn is a self-reliant house in electrical power and water supply, the house is purely powered by solar panels. Because of this one does have to be efficient with power usage, we do advice you to use any equipment that uses high consumption of power such as the washing machine and dish washer, during the day when the sun is out, it is also important to turn things such as lights and fans off if not in use. The barn does have a land line, however phone signal and internet is currently not available, you can though easily get Wi-Fi at local restaurants for a very small fee, phone signals with 3G can be found at the Alexandra range look out which is about a 10 minute drive. One thing to also note is that The Barn is designed to be opened to nature and because of its solar passive design this house naturally keeps itself cool at all times, therefor there are no fly screens or air conditioning. Local Tourism There is plenty of activities and tours that Daintree has to offer, there are plenty of Daintree tour sites you can visit and check out all the things you can do and help plan your holiday. We also keep tour brochures at The Barn which also contains a map of the area listing all the local stores, restaurants etc. Getting Here The Barn is located in the Daintree Rainforest at Cow Bay. To get here from cairns is approximately 120km which is about a 2 hour drive. You will also be required to cross the Daintree river using the car ferry, which includes a fee each time you use the ferry and we do provide one free return ticket. If you are coming up from cairns we recommend you stop by Woolworths in Mossman town, which is an hour's drive from the house to grab your groceries before arriving. Rates per night. (minimum 3 nights) (this does not include Flipkey's booking fee!) - base rate for 2 guests: $350 - extra 50$ for adults, $25 for children, per person per night. Give us an enquiry! We try to give out deals whenever we can. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact us. Recent Reviews 22/10/2014 "The pictures do not do this house justice, it's so much more impressive than you would imagine! Francis was the most welcoming person, greeting us at the house and showing us around - you will need to hear the history of the house for yourselves, it has great stories attached to it and you can feel this within the house (and you can see why Marlon Brando stayed here!) The pool was far bigger than expected and we swam each morning, with views of the ocean. The bedrooms were a delight, all with beautiful views of the coast and rainforest. Walking to Cow Bay was lovely, the pool table within the house fun. If you're looking for a modern, spotless, uptight house, this is not for you - the fittings are older, but this actually adds to the charm and the genuine feel of house. The windows are extraordinary and light fills the entire space from sunrise to sunset. If we did not live in England, we would choose this house every single summer to spend time here! Thank you Francis, we loved our time at your house." 27/9/2014 "We have loved our stay at The Barn. It is a spectacular hideaway, especially the pool!!! The kids were well entertained... they even spotted a Cassowary! Priceless!... over all it was truly a wonderful experience to have stayed at such an amazing place. We would love to come back & will be telling everyone who will listen about this little paradise... "

Other Things to NoteWompoo Eco Retreat gets its name from the `Wompoo Fruit Dove’, a beautiful dove with an amazing purple breast, and green, yellow and white markings. This bird has a very unusual call. Listening to the Wompoo is like listening to a human conversation, but seemingly muted and far away. Our retreat is so named due to the presence of this lovely bird.
