Rates vary as to whether you are staying in our cabins or having bed and breakfast and or dinner. Often times we have family gatherings, guests renting all our 5 rooms and cabins. Pets are allowed Only in our cabins. Guest AccessGuests are welcomed to sit on our enclosed porch for reading, two living rooms one of which has televison, table tennis room, large dining area. Interaction with GuestsWe are available to give suggestions as to "where we should go, what we should see". We have written directions for those that do not, or don't trust their gps. (: The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood consists of lots of open fields, dirt road that is perfect for walking, with little traffic. There are approximately 10 homes, one working farm in the 3 1/2 mile radius.

We have just finished renovating the house so everything is fresh and new. There are three bedrooms to chose from - The Maple room (largest) with a Select Number Queen bed, The Birch room with a Queen bed and The Elm Room (smallest) with a FULL bed. Carriage House closes at 8:30pm. A hot breakfast is served between 8:30am-9:30am. Homemade baked goods, coffee and teas are always available.

The SpaceThe Farmhouse in Andersonville is part of Ledgenear Farm. The farmhouse was built in the 1800's, but has been updated to modern comforts. It sits between Ledgenear's main house and Andersonville Farm where cows are raised and milked to make world class cheese. Guest AccessGuest are welcome to visit the farm animals, and can schedule time to learn about farm work and activities if they wish. Local veggies, meat and dairy can be provided - per your request at an extra charge. Interaction with GuestsWe are right next door, we can meet you on the main road and escort you to the farm and help you settle in. We are available to familiarize you with the area, but if you wish to check in and explore on your that's fine too. The NeighborhoodAndersonville is small enclave of the beautiful Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. It sits at the corner of Glover, Albany, Craftsbury and Greensboro. So we are close to many beautiful lakes: Lake Parker, Shadow Lake, Caspian Lake, and Crystal Lake a few min. away. Parker Pie is our local eatery and pub. And not too far away is Hillstead Farm Brewery. Pete's Greens organic vegetable stand farm is close by. Local Meet and Eegs are readily available as well. Getting AroundYou will definitely need a car when visiting. Other Things to NotePlease relax and have fun! A note for those with young children: The house is equip with (2) pack-n-plays (not full size cribs), (2) high chairs (1) double chariot stroller , (1) radio wagon and some toddler books and toys for your use! A note about Season Highlights! In Spring: March/April: We sugar and you are welcome to visit us at the sugarhouse. We can not predict exactly when sugaring will take place - but if you are lucky you might be able to join us. In Summer: Plenty of lakes for swimming, mts. for hiking, farm tours, county fairs, etc! In Fall: The foliage colors are amazing in Vermont! In Winter: We are not exactly on the VAST trails- but we are about 2 min. away from the access down the road. And cross country skiing is about 10 min. away / down hill skiing is 35/40 min. away

A picturesque country town with rolling hills, white picket fences and family run farms. In winter, it's Cross-country skiing and snowmobiling, maple sugaring in the spring, Farmer's Markets and music concerts on the Common, and the traditional Old Home Day in August with games and a parade are highlights of the summer. Chandler House provides an ideal retreat for families and friends looking to experience the quintessential Vermont experience. The house is set up as your own 'Private Inn,' featuring four bedrooms and four and one half baths in addition new country kitchen and dining space, as well as a comfortable living room. The house is located in postcard-perfect Craftsbury Common, one of the Northeast Kingdom's most photographed villages. The town served, for example, as Alfred Hitchcock's stage set for 'The Trouble with Harry.' Chandler House, in fact, makes several appearances in the film, including the moment when 'Hitch' makes his signature, on-screen cameo. The Town, founded in 1789, sits atop a plateau surrounded by forest and farmland. Federalist architecture, white clapboard, and the classic church steeple encircle the ideal village green. The town is additionally home to Sterling College, a celebrated four-year institution specializing in environmental education. The Common itself is a hive of activity, farmers markets, summer concerts, soccer camps and town parades. Local artisans abound. Craftsbury Common is sleepy and sophisticated at the same time. Craftsbury's sits as the southwest gateway to Vermont's Northeast Kindom, an area noted for its abundant wildlife and breathtaking scenery. Warm days and cool nights characterize the area’s summer season. Fall foliage is spectacular throughout the region, and is considered the best in the State. During the wintertime and located within a snow belt, Craftsbury's visuals are those of a Robert Frost poem. Native photographer, John M. Miller, captured the land and its people in his work, whereas the writer, Howard Frank Mosher, has underscored the unique essence of the area in his famous novels 'The Fall of the Year' and 'Where the River Runs North' Outdoor activities abound in Craftsbury and the region. Hiking, mountain biking, swimming, golf and downhill skiing are all close-by. Adjacent Greensboro is home to Caspian Lake, which is surrounded by summer cottages and estates. The hiking and biking trails around fjord-like Lake Willoughby are spectacular. The Craftsbury Outdoor Center encompasses two smaller lakes in the area, Great and Little Hosmer. The Center offers sculling camps in the summer and some of the most extensive and best-regarded cross-country trail systems in the State. The annual Winter Marathon attracts upwards of 1500 athletes each January who compete and take in the area’s well known hospitality. The cottage has a cathedral ceiling with a large loft area that is a TV/Sitting area and can be used as a sleeping area. There is a Vermont Castings gas stove which heats the cottage with additional heat in the bathroom, which has a tub/shower and washer/dryer. Downstairs also is the living room/ kitchen area. The kitchen is complete with a full size refrigerator, gas stove with oven, microwave, coffee pot, etc. Linens are provided. Nearby are country stores, fine dining, churches, libraries, post office, groceries, beverages. etc. Summer Sports: Craftsbury Outdoor Center provides bike rentals. Also the cross country ski trails are used for biking trails. The Center also provides professional sculling lakes and instructions. Snow Mobile: We are located by the trail! Park your trailor and you can ride from Sunset Cottage.

The SpaceWe are located only 3 miles from the Craftsbury Outdoor Center with awesome cross country skiing, mountain biking trails, sculling and events.  There is a direct connection to the VAST snowmobile trails. This area is know for its picturesque rural setting and yet it is close to so many great ski mountains and tourist destinations...Jay Peak, Stowe, Burke Mtn, Ben and Jerry's, Cabot Cheese, Hill Farmstead Brewery, Sterling College and many more. Guest AccessYou will have full run of the house. There are a number of outbuildings on the property. Feel free to poke around. Interaction with GuestsWe are almost always available by email and the owner lives close by. We are the son and daughter-in-law of the owner. Please contact us any time with questions or comments. The NeighborhoodThe house is located on a dead end road with only 1 year round residence. It is very quiet and private. Getting AroundThere is no public transit. Roads are well maintained. The house is on a dirt road about 4 miles from pavement. Other Things to NoteThere is a house phone for local calls. There is NO cell service in the house.
