This is a very clean 2 story colonial set back off the street for lots of privacy. We do have neighbors on both sides, but not close enough to look in the windows. We request you wear house shoes or slippers in the home and smoking is not alowed on the property, NOT EVEN IN YOUR PARKED CAR! This way others with alergies or chemicial sensitivities will be comfortable in our home. The chalet is a one story, 1,000 sq. ft., handicap accessible, open floor plan, free standing building. The design is Scandinavian inspired, eclectic and minimal. We used large amounts of glass (eight feet high on the east and south walls) so one could assimilate with and appreciate the natural surroundings. The walls are ten feet tall and the wood ceiling is vaulted reaching a height of over twenty feet. All the floors are polished concrete with radiant heat covered by plush area rugs. Other features include air conditioning , gas fireplace, free wi-fi, smart tv, washer & dryer, fully equipped custom made kitchen with walnut cabinets and countertop, custom wood furniture and king size bed. The kitchen table has a marble top over a custom made wood base. All the doors are solid wood eight feet tall. The bathroom is very spacious with big windows allowing lots of natural light. The shower is large with a zero threshold, white tile and marble top bench. The vanity has two sinks with a marble top. The water closet is private with a touch-less toilet. There is an outdoor shower located at the owners home which is available for your use. The chalet has a covered porch, wraparound open deck, barbeque grill and fire pit. There is plenty of firewood provided for your use. There is a hammock under some large pine trees thats perfect for reading, cloud watching or just a nap. Cragsmoor, a tiny mountain-top hamlet on the Shawangunk Ridge 1800 feet up in the the Shawangugk Mountains is a magical place. Now listed in the National Register of Historic Places, the hamlet is an oasis of calm and natural wonder less than two hours from New York City. Many of the buildings in the district date to Cragsmoor’s founding as an art colony in the late 19th century, where Hudson River School Painters were inspired. Our pristine home, The Crows Nest, is one of these original stone and cedar homes, restored with care not to lose the original “Cragsmoor feel”. The centerpieces of the house are the massive stone fireplace, the Orchard porch and stone patio which wrap around the house and the fully renovated kitchen with sliding glass doors which open to the apple trees outside. The Bear Hill cliffs and nature preserve are a 5 minute walk from the house. Our 2300 square foot home sleeps 6. There is a master queen bedroom with views, a full guest room with views of the orchard and 2 twin beds in a room with views . The great room upstairs also has a pull out couch. One bathroom has a shower. Another bathroom is conveniently located downstairs off the kitchen. The kitchen features Vermont slate floors, a Thermador double oven and cook top, a Rancillo espresso machine, a large kitchen table, dishwasher and full complement of All Clad cookware. Breakfast lunch or dinner on the porch is hard to beat. Overlooking our tiered orchard of apple and cherry trees, it is the perfect place to swing on the hammock or enjoy pancakes full of blueberries picked on the Ridge the day before. For music lovers we have a Baltimore Knabe grand piano situated by a picture window with a view of the meadow below. The large Tree Room upstairs has cathedral ceilings, a foosball table and windows on all sides that literally put you “in the woods” when you relax there. Cragsmoor is a place of special natural beauty. It is home to pristine and protected hiking and cross-country ski trails, the premier hang-gliding launch on the East Coast, streams with waterfalls and quiet paths. The house sits on top of the Shawangunk Ridge, in the Hamlet of Cragsmoor, looking toward Minnewaska State Park and the Catskill Mountains. It is a 2 story house with the living/dining areas, a sunroom, a bedroom and bath and the kitchen (with washer and dryer) on the 1st floor and one large bedroom with it's own bathroom on the second floor. In addition there is a futon and plenty of room for it on either floor. The house has central heat and a wood stove on the first floor. Cragsmoor has been home to artists since the late 19th century including, George Inness, Jr, E.L. Henry (who's house is next door) Helen Turner and Charles Curran. Many of its houses and the 100 year old Cragsmoor Library and the Stone Church were designed by Frederick Dellenbaugh, who charted the West with John Muir and Theodore Roosevelt. Bear Hill, a ten minute walk from the house, and Sam's Point, a 30 minute walk, feature breathtaking views in opposite directions, some of the best rock climbing in the eastern U.S. and many hikes of different levels of difficulty, to waterfalls, natural ice caves, spring fed pools. Both are covered with the famous Shawangunk blueberry bushes, free for the picking. There are spas, golf courses, antique stores, artists studios nearby. There is hang gliding in warm weather and cross country skiing in cold weather. There is beauty of every kind, man made and God made. The top of Sam's Point is the only place in the world where Dwarf Pitch Pine trees grow, creating on erie landscape of black pine trucks interspersed with white Birches and endless blueberry bushes. And it smells so good!

Guest AccessYou'll have the entire house to yourself, both floors with plenty of room inside and out for relaxing. Interaction with GuestsI do not live in the area but am available 24/7 by the AirBnB app The NeighborhoodJust down the road is Bear Hill Preserve, where you can take a quick hike to the unbelievable view of the area atop the beautiful rocks. Getting AroundAn easy drive from New York, you'll be able to get everything you need from nearby Ellenville, a village with great shops, theater and great grocery stores. **WINTER GUESTS** Please note that Cragsmoor usually gets 1-2 ft more snow than just down the mountain, even just 10 minutes away. I am off of main roads so they are well plowed but just be careful when going in and out of my driveway.
