The SpaceThe Haelan LifeStream Center is a beautiful health and eco-tourist rental located on 7 acres of private land in Crestone, Colorado.
The rental domicile is a 1500 square foot luxury straw bale wall house which is totally off-grid, and is supplied efficiently by solar photo-voltaic and solar hot water systems. The alpine fed well water is exceptional, clean, and refreshing.
This house is an ideal rental for 1 or 2 people. It can accommodate up to 3 people, and in such a case the inhabitants will need to practice energy conservation if there is a string of cloudy days; a rather rare occurrence.
If you plan to travel to rent the Retreat Center in the winter months (November through April), please be aware of travel and road conditions which can be severe and extreme at this 8000 foot altitude. While the local roads are plowed well, travel to Crestone in the winter months without a 4 wheel drive vehicle is not advised.
If your visit is planned for mid June through early August, please bring an insect repellent to help ward off mosquitoes which are present in these weeks of the year.
If there is a string of cloudy days, then the propane generator may be required to assist the battery state-of-charge, and the hot water booster in the bathroom space will be needed to assist in raising the water temperature. Guests should be prepared for this aspect of living in an off-grid home if cloudy days prevail.
The exterior of the straw bale wall is stucco covered, and the interior is local dirt clay adobe earthen plaster which lends a grounding, calming, and embracing quality to the indoor living experience.
The grounds are beautifully landscaped for luxury and privacy, and can accommodate small private group functions, such as weddings, renewing of vows, dedication ceremonies, memorials, birthdays, and other similar intimate events. This embracing landscape is the most architecturally unique landscaping in Crestone, and enhances the already present magnificent vistas which surround the property.
Dr. John R.M. Day, M.D. is the proprietor and has his office on the periphery of the grounds of the property. He conducts consultations with his clients in the afternoon hours.
For more information about the Haelan LifeStream Center, including more photographs, and for a complete description of Dr. Day's medical services, please visit the Haelan LifeStream Center website. Guest AccessGuests have full access to all of the domicile space, its attached greenhouse, and all of the enclosed landscape space.
Guests may also arrange for health and medical consultation with Dr. Day for any concerns they may wish to explore in the realms of body, mind, emotion, and spirit. Consultations would naturally include advice about diagnosed medical conditions. These consultations are offered as an available option for renters. Payment for consultative services is described on the Haelan LifeStream website.
A separate structure on the grounds is the Casita which is used by Dr. Day for bioenergetic healing, and may also be used by guests who wish to arrange massage sessions with local massage therapists, or other types of local healers.
I request that guests not go into the solar battery and inverter closet off of the foyer. Thank you. Interaction with GuestsDr. Day has minimal interaction with the guests unless they require assistance with the rental space, or unless they wish to consult with him for holistic or conventional medical concerns and advice. He visits his office space usually on a daily basis on weekdays, and sometimes on the weekend, in an unobtrusive fashion, and in respectful consideration of guests' privacy and retreat needs.
