The SpaceCheck-in and check-out are strict due to this being a second home and the back to back nature of the bookings and the fact that I come in to clean and hand off keys.
We use this as our third home. You should note the following details: the owners work in two different cities. Though this space is equipped with basic cooking essentials, etc., we choose not to own doubles and triples of non-necessary things. Thus, note, there isn't a blender, iron, or hair dryer. If these items are essential, please pack your own. If you want to know about the availability of an item, ask in advance.
Close enough to Chicago (23 miles), but far enough to take advantage of the cheaper suburbs, free parking, and grocery shopping. Why spend the money on a hotel when there is plenty to take your money during a day visit? We are southwest, and about three miles from the main artery inbound to the city (the Dan Ryan). Buy your groceries and save money on eating out all the time. Better yet, there is lots of flat rate parking relatively close to my house where you can jump on public transportation into the city. For example, bus it to Midway Airport (about 20 minutes from my house), park your car for 10 bucks all day, and take the "el" into the city. There are all kinds of cheap parking options, especially once you are north or south of the loop. There is also cheap parking lot on State and Balbo (downtown). And, there are apps now that will tell you where to park for the least money.
There's place to spread out, kick up your feet, and relax at night with internet or dish network (or, you can browse our books. I will provide an air bed, in addition to the couch, king bed, and two singles. Second tv. in the second bedroom.
Note: We are about halfway done with the remodel. Please look at the pictures before booking. The kitchen and bath are done, with the exception of the tub which we are doing in September. Text me for more pictures. Guest AccessYou can access the whole house--just leave it *exactly* how you found it. I'm doing a lot of bookings.
You can place your garbage bag in the house; I'll take that out, but dishes should be done or placed in the dishwasher. Make the beds--I'll be changing the sheets when I get home. Interaction with GuestsText me or call me. The NeighborhoodLots to do up and down Cicero Av. Safe neighborhood. Condo must be entered through a security door.
There is a one very sensitive neighbor. You don't have to treat it like a library, but please keep your noise level down and do not hold parties/loud gatherings on the premises. If you smoke, use the balcony, but be respectful after a certain hour (you can smoke whenever, but not loud talking late into the night as the balconies border one another). Getting AroundWe are close to suburban trans which will take you to the city trans. You can take the bus to Midway and then the "EL" system from there. Or, you can drive into the city. Other Things to NoteImportant to note: the sleeping spaces includes two air mattresses. There is one king size bed, two twins, two twin air mattresses and a sectional that one can use as a bed. The total number of sleeping spaces, then, is five or six, depending on if you want to use the king as a two person sleeper, or one.
Wireless code will be set out for you.
There is no smoking in the house. We are both allergic to smoke and we do not want the lingering smell. The place has never been smoked in. If you must smoke, you can do so on the balcony where there are a few chairs.
Prices will go up after September, so book now!
