The SpaceYour room includes nearby access to your own private full bath with tub and shower, and use of our full second kitchen and dining room on the same basement level. When the season permits you're welcome to relax in our sun room, light a fire in the wood burning stove, or perhaps experience the sight, sound, and aromas of a thunderstorm or gentle spring rain from the protection of our wrap around porch. We have a natural gas outdoor grill which you're welcome to use should you have the urge for some flame seared meat and/or vegetables. You may see us or you may not. It all depends on your schedule. We enjoy interaction but understand if you prefer your privacy. Our home sits on a quiet horseshoe shaped street with little traffic. Most owners have large 2+ acre lots like ours giving the feeling of country. Yet we're minutes from downtown Crete with 5 eating establishment, and about 10 minutes to grocery stores, expressways and the Chicago area metra system A 10 minute walk to the local bus stop and a 10 minute drive to the Electric Line that can whisk you into Chicago's Loop in under an hour. Our home is usually quiet and peaceful. However, Monday nights are "family night" with our two grown kids, their significant others and our two grandchildren eating with us and spending a few hours just visiting (It gets a little crazy). We also have two (usually foreign) adult students renting rooms in our home, as well as a full time renter in an apartment over our garage, so there's almost always someone somewhere in the house. We will do all we can to make your stay more than you expected, but come prepared for the occasional unexpected. The SpaceSave money over traditional RV parks. No worries that your neighbor will be up to all hours of the night playing their music or outdoor entertainment too loud. Know that your rig is 100% safe while your out exploring the local scenes or spending a day in Chicago. Guest AccessRelax on our wrap around porch. Lay back in our corner stretched hammock and watch the hummingbirds and orioles frequenting the feeders. Fire up our gas grill and cook up some juicy steaks or a simple flame seared hot dog or burger. Savor a freshly picked organic tomato, pepper, or cucumber if you're here at the peak season. You're welcome to visit with us in our home as well. Interaction with GuestsOur house and it's surroundings offer tranquility and privacy. But there are always full time and part time guests, and sometimes family members coming and going. Your RV, of course, is your private space if you want to be totally alone. If you're out and about grilling or relaxing on our wrap around porch you may bump into one of our other guests or long term renters. But everyone here is accommodating and friendly. The NeighborhoodOur home sits back off the street and in the spring summer and fall feels very secluded. We are located on a U-shaped street with little traffic. A ten minute walk will take you to a forest preserve where you might catch a glimpse of a deer an owl or a hawk. A stream meanders through these protected woods and local waterfoul are sometimes seen paddling its slow currents. We are about 2 miles from the town of Crete where on a Saturday (May to October) you can find fresh bread and produce at the farmer's market. The Edge, a little coffee shop offering freshly ground coffee bean brews and home made sandwiches, is one of many places to grab a bite to eat. And there's the Cone Cottage for ice cream, locally made Italian ice and other novelty deserts. Getting Aroundits a 10 minute trip by car to the Metra electric train which can whisk you into Chicago in about an hour. Or you can drive into the big city yourself in about 45 minutes. Depending on our schedules we are happy to deliver you to and pick you up from the train station.

The SpaceThe deer are a very special part of being here. The tall windows are perfect for watching them in the back yard. Guest AccessYour designated sleeping area of course, the front room where the piano is, the family room where the fireplace and TV are, the kitchen, laundry room and master bathroom. If the master bathroom is being used the second bathroom can also be used but let us know before you do. When other guests are here they will be sharing the master bathroom with you. There are two pocket doors into the shower area and master bedroom area. Interaction with GuestsWe will be available to help in person, by text, phone or email. We want you to feel comfortable and communicate whatever may be on your mind. The NeighborhoodWe have a wonderful next door neighbor named Kathy who keeps a close watch on the house so we will need to let her know when you will be staying at the house. Before we did Airbnb one time she called the police because we didn't let her know about a friend who we told to just come to the house when we weren't here yet! She's used to the Airbnb change of cars now though! She's a gem. Getting AroundMost likely you will have your own car but if you'd like to go downtown there is the Metra Electric train that is only a ten minute drive away and Uber usually comes within 10 to 20 minutes and costs $5 to $10 to get there. You can also drive your car to the train station and park for a dollar or two I think it is. The train is less than $10 one way and there are discount weekend passes as well. There is a lot to do in Chicago so please don't pass up this opportunity to enjoy this great city. Other Things to NoteMy father lives with us and his bedroom also has an office area in it. He shares the bathroom with any guests staying in the house. He works in the office and does little projects around the house. He loves to garden in the summer. He loves to converse and if you are home when he is please feel free to get to know him. Is is a very sharp 90 year old WW II Veteran, Retired Air Force Major Navigator. He flew the B24 in WWII and the C124 in Viet Nam. His reserve time in Viet Nam was his most dangerous time in the service. Most people enjoy him very much. My husband Don you may also run in to who is also a great conversationalist and is quite a comedian. Helps in life doesn't it?!!
