The SpaceIt is at 923 Nickle Plate, located near Cripple Creek, Colorado. Beautiful, very secluded mountain valley house, by mountain stream. It is our personal home that we have used quite a lot, but thought it would be nice to share it with others. The nightly rental is the house which has full kitchen upstairs and kitchenette downstairs, free WiFi, DVD player, no TV, but we have a 27 inch screen for watching movies. If company wants to bring their Roku, that is a possibility also. 2 bedrooms with double beds, and 2 bedrooms with queens. There are two bedrooms downstairs and two upstairs, plus living room. We like it because it is very quiet and stress free. If you feel the need to go for a hike in the outdoors, there are plenty of places to hike. Lots of wildlife, deer, bear, wild turkeys, bobcats, elk, and coyotes have all been seen around the home at some time or other. Cripple Creek is 5 miles away from the cabin. There are restaurants in casinos and others with outside entries. There is a small grocery store and Family Dollar in town, also on way to cabin coming from Colorado Springs there is a Wal-mart in Woodland Park. Gold mines are a of real interest and the Molly Kathleen Mine is one that is open for everyone to enjoy in Cripple Creek, when in season. The Cripple Creek Victor gold mine, outside of Victor, is a working mine that has an overlook to see and watch the huge trucks carrying the gold ore to be crushed. Colorado Springs is an hour away, and there is a back way to Canon City, where Royal Gorge and other sites are about an hour away also. The altitude might factor in to some, since the house is located at 9,000 ft. People coming from lower altitudes need to know that they could feel a little out of breath at times. May not always bother everybody, unless they do some serious hiking. Guest AccessThere is the deck that is available for eating or sitting to watch the beauty around you. There is a propane grill that can be used. Interaction with GuestsNot to often. The NeighborhoodWe like that it is very secluded and away from the traffic from CR 1. The drive to the house is about 3/4 of a mile beyond county maintenance. The road is maintained by the owners, so cars can get down it without too much difficulty. Getting AroundThere is plenty of parking at the cabin. Other Things to NoteI have had questions from guests before they booked and they gave me their phone number. However, Airbnb blocks any numbers before booking, so we have to use the means that Airbnb provides for communications until after bookings, and then the phone numbers can be exchanged.

Here are some examples from when it was previously listed on a different website that rhymes with "blown away", which is what you'll be with the place when you stay: Fantastic stay. Can't wait to come back. 5 of 5 Fantastic place to hang out. Great views, comfy and quiet. All the pleasures of home and close to town. Have stayed several times and will return. Thanks so much. Submitted: Oct 5, 2015 Stayed: Sep 2015 Source: (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Jim S. Dallas,tx Great house and great memories!!! 5 of 5 This place is everything it says and more. The pictures do not do this place justice. The views alone are worth the trip. We arrived right after Christmas and everything was snow covered. The house was stocked with everything we needed from toilet paper to linens. The temperature dropped to -9 degrees and the house remained cozy. Internet worked great and the game room was a wonderful plus. The roads were well maintained even when it snowed 6 inches one day. Can't say enough about this property. Would love to come back in the spring. Wonderful and relaxing stay 5 of 5 This property was fantastic! My dad and I stayed for three nights at the Mountain Fortress while on a father-son fishing trip, and both agreed that three days was not nearly long enough! The views were breathtaking, the solitude and beautiful surroundings were incredibly peaceful, and the amenities of the Mountain Fortress made our stay extremely comfortable. After each day of fishing, we took full advantage of the hot tub and enjoyed a drink on the deck. We have already begun to discuss a return trip to Cripple Creek and the Mountain Fortress. Submitted: Jun 22, 2014 Stayed: Jun 2014 Source: (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Perfect!!!!! 5 of 5 The views are amazing from all around right in front of Pikes peak. The Chalet was clean and spacious. We took our perfect Christmas picture from the deck. The kids loved the lower level with Roku player and air hockey while my wife and I enjoyed the hot tub while only 15 degrees outside. We loved hiking around the area and we even found a snow sled a read for the boys. Totally private in the property. It was only 15 minutes from Cripple Creek which is a small super cool town with Casinos all over. Even with all the snow we got, our Front wheel drive SUV made it up to the property without chains. We highly recommend this property to everyone. Regards Submitted: Dec 10, 2013 Stayed: Nov 2013 Source: (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Guest AccessThen entire house is available to guests with the exception of a supply closet and storage area on the lower level. Interaction with GuestsI will be reachable on my cellphone from 9a - 6p every day and will be checking messages most times. I have a location manager should we need to come to the unit for any reason that may arise. Any reasonable requests will be addressed at the earliest possible time. Getting AroundThere is very limited taxi service in the area. Plan on using your own vehicle at all times. Other Things to NoteThe property is located at approximately 9000 feet above sea level. If you have a sensitivity to high altitude or respiratory issues, this is not the place for you. The last 2 miles to the property are on well maintained dirt roads, during the time of year when snow is possible (Nov - April), a 4 wheel drive vehicle is a must. The public roads are regularly plowed as needed. I have a snow removal service in place for the parking areas immediately adjacent as well as the private access drive. Please note there are no refunds due to weather or travel issues outside of the stated cancellation policy, but I am glad to offer available similar replacement dates. Note that only 1 guest has had to cancel due to weather in the last 4 years, and it turns out they could have easily made it :).

White Water Rafting is also extremely popular here. The weather is sunny 320 days out of 365, but we are in the mountains so there is a certain element of mystery to the weather patterns. The SpaceWe offer an approximate 1,700 sf, 3 bedroom, 2 bath log and cedar cabin that has stainless appliances, granite counters, slate and hardwood floor, beamed great room with a window-wall looking towards the summit of Pikes Peak, it's western and southern ridges and adjoining mountains and nearby valleys, etc. We have nearly a 360º view. The setting is mountainous, intimate and very private as no other nearby homes are visible from the cabin (just some RV campers). Ideal for honeymoons, an artist retreat or just a needed vacation, we have wine cooler, bar area, bistro table, 60 inch flat screen, Blu-ray, WiFi, Blue-tooth connection, Surround-Sound, Deck Speakers, stainless grill and patio furniture. We have a wood stove in the great room and a fire pit for bonfires or campfires nearby. We are an easy (beautiful) 50 minute drive to western Colorado Springs, 25 minutes to Divide and 10 minutes to Cripple Creek's casinos and restaurants. Guest AccessThe living quarters of the home is included in our contract. We reserve (exclude) two closets and a unfinished garage area which are locked. Pricing: **We are also listed on another Vacation Home site... and on it our 3.9% Colorado Lodging tax is a separate line-item automatically included. Here, we had to manually add it to our normal price per night, etc. I apologize. We have requested Airbnb to correct this. Interaction with GuestsI am available by email, text or phone should the need arise. I often travel but a friend lives nearby who is a professional handyman. We have a Guest Guide of do's and don'ts. Please read and follow the instructions as we prefer not to charge additional cleaning fees, etc. The NeighborhoodThe view is not often seen in the Pikes Peak region. The summit of Pikes Peak is only 7 miles away... the roadbed and the Incline Rail tracks are visible on our side of the mountain. We have views virtually all directions except our own woods on the north side. The cabin is off the Highway about 1.4 miles... but one should expect a bit of bumpy drive for this level of privacy away from neighbors and this view. I would suggest bringing sufficient coffee, groceries and supplies along with clothing as we are a bit remote and once here, you may not want to leave except for further sightseeing. Buena Vista, Mt Princeton-Antereo are about 1.5 hours to the west... well worth visiting as well as Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak Summit, Air Force Academy and the various Federal and State Parks and Reserves. Getting AroundWe are between Divide, Cripple Creek and Victor, Colorado. No public transportation is available or near the cabin yet Cripple Creek-Victor share a bus-line. Taxis (Teller County Taxi) are available but I do not know if they will service our location. Other Things to Note4WD (4x4) or All Wheel Drive is required to access the property during snowy season. Should you still like to come, we can make arrangements to bring you up the ridge at check-in and back down at check-out. Excursions are recommended but one will need the ability to climb the ridge in snow and mud (snow-melt, rain).
