The SpaceBuilt entirely of wood in a traditional tropical style, Amaryllis House features a high-ceilinged great room with skylight. Verandah doors fold back to create a panoramic view of meadows, forested lands, sea and cliffs. This is natural living: you sleep under mosquito nets amidst a tropical garden. At Amaryllis House, a sleeping loft with a double bed, two daybeds in the great room, and a bed on the verandah sleep six in total (but somewhat tightly). There is a well-equipped kitchen, and a bathroom with shower. Take breakfast on the verandah, while watching birds including tiny iridescent humming birds at certain times of year. The 2 acre property features a grove of tropical shrubs and fruit trees: calabash, soursop, papayas, bananas, cinnamon, a variety of mangoes, sapodillas, cashew, and coconut trees, as well as bougainvillea, heliconia, crotons, lemon grass, oleanders, and ixoras. A narrow footpath leads you to Mahot Beach, used by local fishermen. Mahot Beach is not ideal for swimming, but one of the most beautiful beaches for safe swimming on the island, Cabier Beach, is a 15 minute walk away. If you’re looking for bars, restaurants and hectic beach life, this property is probably not for you. But if you’re longing for a comfortable, tranquil vacation akin to a northern cottage experience, Amaryllis House is ideal, an adventure in tropical living at its most natural. For the truly adventurous, come in rainy season (June-September), when daily downpours mean that everything is growing and the mangoes are in season (and insects more plentiful!) Guest AccessThis airy, private house is entirely yours. Collins, our caretaker, lives in a separate house on the property. Interaction with GuestsI am always available by phone or e-mail, and Collins is on hand to help with arrangements. The NeighborhoodThe house is situated on the Atlantic coast 40 minutes from Grenada's capital St. George's, and 20 minutes south of the second largest town, Grenville, near the village of Crochu. This is a relatively untouristed part of the island. A bakery, a small grocery store, and night-time street-side BBQ is a short drive away, as is the Cabier Ocean Lodge, which offers restaurant-style meals with notice. Getting AroundWe are happy to arrange airport transfer (which can include a grocery stop), and organize car rental. Although a vehicle is not strictly necessary -- taxis are available and buses run frequently from the main intersection -- a car will definitely facilitate a fuller appreciation of the island. Other Things to NoteAmaryllis House lies in a secluded dell, and it’s a good idea to bring sturdy footwear to walk the path and stairs from the parking area down to the house (in rainy season sections of the path can be muddy!).

Cabier Ocean Lodge -  Standard Guest Room Cabier Grenada Cabier Ocean Lodge offers two types of rooms - "Superior" and "Standard" Click here For the Superior Guest Room The Perfect Waterfront Location Set on a charming low headland, Cabier Ocean Lodge is surrounded on 3 sides by the calm waters of Cabier and Crochu bays with a view out over the protecting reef.  On one side is the palm fringed golden sands of Cabier beach, just perfect for a relaxing swim and perhaps a snorkel round through the inner reef, perfect for snorkelling, to Crochu Bay, which is a calm shallow bay,. Cabier’s often deserted beach is wide enough and with firm sands to enjoy beach games. Both bays are protected by an offshore reef, creating beautifully clear and calm water with an easy walk in. There is a fresh water shower to clean off on the way back from the beach. Cabier Beach If you are looking for somewhere quiet in stunning natural surroundings and with one of the best natural non tourist beaches in Grenada then you need look no further. Cabier beach is protected by an offshore reef, has firm sand and a gentle slope to walk into the water. It is great for swimming (or just floating and playing around in) and snorkelling, as there is no current in the bay on the inside of the reef. It is little used during the week but can have a few people on it at the weekend. The beach is only about 100 yards away. The Lodge enjoys stunning panoramic views across the beach & the bay to the ocean beyond, which can be enjoyed from all the rooms at the Lodge. Each room has its own veranda overlooking Cabier bay.  Pleasant footpaths meander through the gardens and along the coast to nearby beaches and bays, as well as to the little villages of Crochu and La Tante. The Exotic Spice Island Cabier Ocean Lodge is a great base to explore the many treats Grenada has to offer, and experience a true Caribbean culture.  Because where Cabier is situated on Grenada, day trips can easily be made to the capital St George’s where you can experience the wonderfully scented and colourful markets and historic waterfront area.  Or take a trip via the waterfront town of Grenville (20 minutes up the road), the old French capital of the island, into the heart of Grenada, to explore the wonderful tropical rain forests and swim in the waterfalls. Buy home-grown fruits from local roadside stalls or in the local markets – mangoes, pineapple. Papaya, bananas, limes, etc. or whatever is in season. Sailing, fishing, and diving… day trips to neighbouring islands… these are all easily arranged allowing you to tailor your holiday to suit you. Cabier Bar and Restaurant The terrace bar and restaurant overlooks Crochu bay, sheltered from the sun by two mango trees.  Serving breakfast, light lunches and table d'hôte dinners - an a la carte menu is also available for lunch and dinner on request.  Run by Iris and Bruno, they are both generous hosts as many guests have said, with many years’ experience and offer an authentic Caribbean as well as European/Caribbean fusion cuisine. Dining under the thousands of stars that arc over Cabier on a warm Caribbean night after a pre- dinner drink at the bar is an experience not to be missed. Seriously Relaxing at Cabier Cabier is so relaxed that it is funny how the days slip by and you wonder what you did – but that is relaxing – or “liming” as the locals would say, and what Cabier is all about. The Cabier “family” of Iris, Bruno, Cindy and Florence look after you as if you are one of them but not forgetting that you are a guest. If you have a favourite dish, ask Bruno to cook it for you. If you want a drink during the day and Iris or Cindy is not around, just write down what you have had, that is how relaxing it is to be at Cabier. If you feel more energetic then one of Bruno’s walking or island sights tours might be for you. Walking along the coast or into the rain forest or more leisurely – the chocolate estate and the rum factory - is often a perfect way to spend a day with dinner back on the terrace to talk over the day’s events. Cabier Ocean Lodge also has an indoor lounge and dining area, with large flat screen TV and DVD player.  Free Wi-Fi is available and there is a computer for guests to use. There is also a courtyard garden with a small local wildlife rescue menagerie, and guests can relax in the headland gardens in one of the hammocks slung between trees overlooking the beach and the ocean. Getting Around We can arrange a taxi from the airport or car hire for you with pick up and drop off at either airport or Cabier using Cabier’s car rental partners. There is a shop selling most basics at the Crochu crossroads and a bakery that supplies the local area – about a 5 minute drive/ 20 minute walk. Grenville has a market and supermarkets and there are roadside stalls selling fruit in season. We suggest that if you do not want to hire a vehicle for the whole of your stay that you do hire for groups of days so you can stock up with groceries (the bread freezes really well) and then hire again for other periods during your stay – and certainly towards the end so you can drop off at the airport. Bruno, one of the managers, also does individual tours using his local contacts and knowledge that takes you to different places in addition to the normal tourist places. Sustainable Hardwood Interiors Tall folding louvered doors open to combine outside with inside and expand the generous living space to make the verandas part of your living area.  All the woodwork of the furniture, doors, windows and the veranda is sustainable hardwood. It gives a warm, comforting, homely and glowing Caribbean feel.  Eating can be enjoyed on the veranda looking at the stunning views from the round hardwood dining table. Both Two Bays Studios are welcoming, simply and elegantly furnished with neutral colours offering the perfect environment for guests to kick back and relax immediately they have arrived. Relaxing and “Liming” Both Studios have free Wi-Fi, so guests can keep in touch, check out the daily news online, but the villa does not have TV or an external telephone, (there is an internal telephone to Cabier Ocean Lodge 100 yards away - who look after and provide maid service to Two Bays). The natural unspoilt beauty of Two Bays and Cabier is the main reason people return. There are games compendiums, multi-media speakers and books as well as swinging hammock type chairs on each veranda; simple but relaxing pleasures. Guests can also cook for themselves having been tempted by the local produce. The kitchen is part of the living space; fully equipped with fridge/freezer, stove and microwave. If you do not want to cook then wander over to the nearby Cabier Ocean Lodge and enjoy dining under the stars at the terrace restaurant and bar overlooking Crochu Bay and the ocean. Infinity Pool overlooking the Sea The infinity pool is located at the rear of Two Bays, surrounded by a sun deck with loungers overlooking Crochu Bay and the ocean. Catch the last rays of the sun in the evening and enjoy the magical experience of sipping your drink in the pool, watching the Pelicans finishing their day’s fishing. As the sun sets watch the fireflies come up in the bushes by Crochu Bay in front of you, hovering like animated Xmas lights, and when Cabier’s thousands of stars are arching over you outnumbering the fireflies – perhaps it is time for dinner! Accommodation Bayside Studio - Queen Size four poster bed Beachside Studio - Choice of 1 pair of twin four poster beds or 1 king size four poster bed. The AC if used is charged at 5USD per night. Each studio has UK and USA plug sockets. Books & Guides There are lots of local guide and reference books in the studio. Relaxing, Stylish Verandas with Swing seats The private 19ft long deep shaded veranda stretches along the front of each studio. Each studio has a private front door. Cabier’s often deserted beach is wide enough and with firm sands to enjoy beach games. Both bays are protected by an offshore reef, creating beautifully clear and calm water with an easy walk in. There is a fresh water shower to clean off on the way back from the beach. Cabier Beach Cabier beach is protected by an offshore reef, has firm sand and a gentle slope to walk into the water. It is great for swimming (or just floating and playing around in) and snorkelling, as there is no current in the bay on the inside of the reef. It is little used during the week but can have a few people on it at the weekend. The beach is only about 100 yards away. Cabier’s often deserted beach is wide enough and with firm sands to enjoy beach games. Both bays are protected by an offshore reef, creating beautifully clear and calm water with an easy walk in. There is a fresh water shower to clean off on the way back from the beach. It will be used for the final payment unless we have received payment from you by other means on or before the final payment date. Your contract will be directly with Cabier Vision Ltd t/a Cabier Ocean Lodge who manage Two Bays on our behalf. Getting around: Driving is on the left and is fairly easy. Day trips will take you to what you want to see on any part of the island. (you will need to purchase a temporary driving licence at the local police station – ECD$ 25 – take your green licence as well as your photo-card one). You can hire a jeep for a minimum of 3 days through Cabier Ocean Lodge. Minibuses regularly travel along the coast road and are very cheap. They are the main means of transport for the locals. Just put your hand out and they will stop if they have room. They reach and connect to most parts of the island – rather quickly. There are direct services to St Georges and Grenville. Walking: There is easy coastal walking along the headlands to neighbouring beaches – if you to want to take a hotel dog with you, one of them is usually game for “walkies”. For those who are interested in more serious walking the Grenada rainforest is not far away with a wide range of walking trails, colourful flora and fauna, birds , as well as monkeys. The interior of the island is spectacular with vibrant colours, try counting the shades of green. Grand Etang lake and nature reserve is nearby with its gardens and troupes of monkeys. There are organised walking tours available in the rain forest. Waterfall swimming: There are waterfalls with pools you can swim in, the nearest is Mount Carmel about 15 minutes away. In the centre of the island there is Annandale and Seven Sisters as well as Concorde Falls where the local boys “jumping association” will take a high plunge for you. You can also swim in the cool river water plunging down from the rain forest under the waterfall and climb behind it after you have looked at the beautiful plants and flowers growing around the falls. Sight seeing: There are old rum distilleries and a chocolate plantation to visit up just up our coast, as well as the disused Pearls airfield, where you take a spin on the Cuban lengthened runway - and look at the Cuban Illuyshin aircraft stranded at the time of the American intervention in the 1980’s. St Georges is reckoned to be the most beautiful harbour in the Caribbean. The old forts surrounding it give a wonderful view and a historical perspective to the islands history. Wander around the harbour on the Carenage and get lunch at either The New Nutmeg or BB’s overlooking the harbour. Why not finish off the day with a cocktail standing in the water whilst watching the sun sink into the sea at BBC beach, which is just beyond the famous Grand Anse beach before driving back to Cabier? Like seafood? – then apart from enjoying Bruno’s cooking at Cabier and one of his great lobster dinners, Gouave, which is one of the main fishing towns on the western coast, has “Fish Friday”. On Friday night the locals open up lots of stalls selling Caribbean food and seafood along with beer and a steel band. Grenville is the old capital from the time of the French occupation of the island. Sitting on the sea shore it is a truly old style West Indian town with local shopping and a market as well as a fish market. It bustles. It has several banks as well as a post office and local restaurants – one of which over the supermarket and the water serves a wide selection of local food and soul food and is incredible value. For those needing a fix there is a KFC (the batter is spicier than at home) and a passable Chinese restaurant. Shopping: St Georges and Grand Anse have a variety of shops selling local items. For food shopping there is our local town Grenville with a vibrant local market and small supermarkets and shops where you will be able to buy nearly everything you need to self cater. There is a baker in Crochu on the main road just up from Cabier and a small store at the cross roads that sells essentials (including drink). In St Georges there are supermarkets that sell a lot of UK/USA foods as well as local as they cater for the international and yachting communities. Sailing: From January to March there are regattas in Grenada and neighbouring Carriacou. Day sailing trips are available as is the big game fishing. For anyone who fancies gently cruising through some of the 14 tiny islands that make up the Grenadines you can book Cabier’s Stay and Sail package that combines your stay at Two Bays with either 4 or 7 days on a yacht. Locally Cabier Ocean Lodge can organise boat trips around to other beaches. Diving: The diving out of St George’s is excellent and we have a special arrangement with Scubatech at Prickly Bay near St Georges (30 minutes by car). If you visit their website www.scubatech-grenada.com they have excellent pictures of Grenada dive sites including wrecks and reefs. Golf: There is a small golf course just outside St Georges. Cricket: If you want to watch some local West Indian cricket then in season you may even find a village cricket match to watch. Crochu cricket club is just at the top of the road from Cabier and up to 200 people watch matches at the weekend with barbecues and beer. There are also festivals of cricket held in St Georges. Carnival: This takes place in the first week of August over several days and is as much for the locals as the tourists in St George’s and much more orientated to the locals in villages such as St David’s (15 minute away), Grenville, and Sauteurs at the top of the island. With original and vibrant costumes, and lots and lots of loud music, it goes on over several days in St Georges including a late night parade around the harbour – “Midnight Mass”. Everyone is having fun and all are welcome. Two Bays and Cabier is so relaxing that of course you may not actually do very much of this or at all! – still you can always save it up for when you come back! Overlooking a beautiful beach in natural surroundings with views over Crochu bay. Run by 11 room Cabier Ocean Lodge, with restaurant and bar; romantic Two Bays Bayside has a large shaded 19ft. veranda with sea views from your 4 poster bed, and an infinity swimming pool. Run by 11 room Cabier Ocean Lodge, with restaurant and bar; romantic Two Bays Beachside has a large shaded 19 ft. veranda with views from your 4 poster bed, and an infinity swimming pool. Two Bays Beachside is designed to keep you cool and maximise the stunning views.
