The SpaceA landmark historic home built in 1760 and restored in 2013, the entire house has original wide-plank hardwood floors and exposed beams. The first floor is an open layout with a gourmet kitchen including subzero, miele and viking appliances, a large pantry, and plenty of seating around the dining table and raw wood bar. Sit on the leather loveseats and look out the picture windows, sip wine at the old-growth oak countertop bar, or lounge in the living room, with double sliding glass doors, local stone fireplace, and reclaimed barnwood wall. Upstairs, the master bedroom looks out on the gardens, old-growth trees, and dappled forest. The master bath has a large slate shower and sink. A second bedroom looks out over a hemlock grove and sleeps one in a daybed. The third bedroom has a bunk bed and sleeps two. The second full bath has a large clawfoot soaking tub, cypress wood paneling, and antique marble sink. A full size washer and dryer on the second floor make laundry convenient. The house was renovated with geo-thermal heating and cooling, powered entirely by wind power. All appliances are energy efficient. Collect fresh eggs every day from the six chickens in their self-contained coop. Pick your own herbs, salad greens and other organic veggies from the gardens, or enjoy a bottle of wine sitting in one of the garden nooks. Enjoy a soak in the outdoor clawfoot tub, fully functional with hot and cold water, while watching the birds, bees and butterflies flutter in the surrounding trees and flowers. Soak up the sun in the grassy stone-walled gardens, swing under the grape arbor, picnic at the 100 year old apple tree, roast marshmallows around the cast-iron fire cauldron, or dine at the 9ft long garden table. Enjoy the afternoon shade of the slate patio or the morning sun on the wrap-around deck. Forty miles of trails await you in Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, Westchester's largest tract of preserved land. To access trails, just follow the path along the stone walls at the back of the property. Half a mile walk in the woods leads to the Overlook where you can view clear across the county, over the reservoir, to the mountains on the other side of the Hudson River. Pick wild blueberries, forage for mushrooms, or harvest wild raspberries. A quarter mile down the road is a stream to cool your feet, and a half mile away are trails down to the reservoir waters. A gorgeous ten-minute drive through the country and along the reservoir leads to the quaint towns of Bedford and Katonah, where Metro-North commuter trains run take you to Grand Central in 60 minutes or less. Dine at numerous farm-to-table restaurants, including The Inn at Pound Ridge, Bedford Post Inn, and Truck. Locally, visit the Katonah Museum of Art, visit the farmers markets, and stroll the gardens at John Jay Homestead, Hammond Japanese Gardens, and Garden of Ideas in South Salem. Don't miss the stellar summer outdoor concerts and music festivals at Caramoor, just two miles down the road. The NeighborhoodPound Ridge and the surrounding towns of Bedford and Katonah, were recently written up as an alternative to the Hamptons for the summer, with its country roads, lots of greenery, high end restaurants and beautiful views: (website hidden)?_r=0 For more information about living in Pound Ridge: (website hidden) Getting AroundThe nearest train station is Katonah, less than 15 minutes drive through the scenic countryside. From Katonah the train to grand central is an hour. Other Things to NoteWe do have fast wifi internet, but THERE IS NO TV. The house gets limited cell phone reception. There is a house land line which is available for guests to use. There are six chickens in a self-contained coop and run.

The SpaceThe photos shown have not been updated with the new furniture and beds. I believe in comfort but that every piece needs to have beauty and function. The new king and twin beds upstairs are supremely comfortable. New photos to follow.... Guest AccessYou will not share the house with anyone. The horse manager will come daily to feed and care for the horses. You can give them carrots if you wish but only with an open hand so they do not bite a finger along with the carrot. If you don't know how to do this, please leave them alone. Interaction with GuestsThere is a farm manager that lives in another cottage on the farm should you need emergency help. And I am always nearby for assistance. Texting me is the best way to reach me. The NeighborhoodBedford, NY consists of 3 hamlets (Bedford Hills, Bedford Village, and Katonah). There are so many places to explore. This farm cottage is an ideal to launch. Getting AroundThe Bedford Hills and Katonah train stations both have full-time taxis to bring you to the farm but I highly recommend your own car to shop and explore. Other Things to NoteThere is lousy cell service in many places around Northern Westchester. We have a Verizon booster so you will get service if you are a Verizon customer. If not, you will find "pockets" of service around the barnyard.

Waccabuc is horse country- a very private and quaint escape from larger cities, but has access to ample attractions close by. Katonah, NY and Ridgefield, CT are both lovely towns with sidewalk walking, many boutiques and restaurants and both are a 10 minute car ride away. Manhattan is an easy 50 minute drive or 1 hr train ride away (from Katonah train station.) The summer time is ideal for playing or dining outdoors on a gorgeous flagstone back patio and making use of the new Weber outdoor grill and pool. Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, a 4,315-acre park is a 5 minute car ride way- with miles of wooded trails for hiking, providing a variety of activities in all seasons including picnicking. The 3,000 square foot home is beautifully appointed with brand new kitchen and two fireplaces. Every window look out into nature. There are magical spaces throughout this home, like the kitchen banquet area for morning coffee and three season screened in porch- a perfect haven to listen to birdsong while you drink your morning coffee, read the paper and nap and dream in the afternoon. Relax in the porch in the evenings and watch the light change and the stars emerge in the sky. Off the kitchen up three steps is a main floor family room with a large leather sectional couch and large TV. There is a master bedroom on main floor with king bed and full bathroom. Upstairs are two bedrooms that share a full bathroom. One has a king bed and the other is a bedroom converted into an office with a twin day bed. There is a large Stickley desk for use with your laptop. Downstairs (above ground) is a very large family room with a large plasma screen TV, and full bathroom which is great for hanging out. There is a new large sectional couch that pulls out into an exceptionally comfortable queen bed. Sliding glass doors lead out to the patio and pool area. The in ground pool is surrounded by beautiful flowers and protected by a tall, key driven gate. The house has AC and is great for a romantic getaway, family vacation, or a group of friends who want to get away from Manhattan, or anyone who wants a peaceful escape.
