The SpaceLockhart is the BBQ Capital of Texas, and it's true. It is great. Where I live in rural Lockhart, is one of the permaculture, water harvesting, organic farm areas that supplies food to our community and Austin. Many people come to Lockhart just to eat BBQ, BURP, and then leave. There are four world famous houses and each of them is different and delicious. Instead of burping and leaving, you can stay for a weekend, eat normally without taking antacids and enjoy whatever is happening here that weekend or day. Massage Hideaway Tent Resort is very close to the Circuit of Americas site and you're usually not in traffic going or coming. In fact, that is the case going and coming from Austin or San Antonio. You can take public transportation to Lockhart and I can pick you up. Or, if I'm in Austin, you can catch a lift with me. Lockhart has the oldest library in Texas and it has fabulous in concert programs FREE to the public; we also have a great theater group at the Gaslight Baker Theater that runs shows from March to December; plus, all kinds of weekend activities that happen in our small Texas town like rodeos, hot rod races, country music concerts, etc. If you're an international traveler, you might consider Lockhart "exotic." Massage Hideaway Tent Resort is situated on the historic Blackland Prairie and the Central Texas Oak Savannah. We're restoring the five acres for posterity. Friends, clients, and guests come with their digital equipment. I have to warn you once here, unless it is an urgent matter, laptops and phones end up on your belly as you take a nap on one of the hammocks or beds in the tents. Guest AccessDepending on what your needs are and the length of your stay, there are options. You definitely have full use of the guest bathroom, shampoo/conditioner, toothpaste, hair dryer, towels, robes, etc. Bring your own flip flops. For extra fees, there's a farm fresh breakfast and kitchen privileges. I can also be your tour guide in the area and we can even kayak down the San Marcos river, 16 miles away. There are lots of places to hang out on the property alone or with others if others are here. Massage Hideaway Tent Resort is a sanctuary for all sentient beings. No smoking, drugs, loud music or boozing here. We keep the space quiet, contemplative, and serene. Laughter and good conversations are encouraged with light drinking. Interaction with GuestsUntil I moved to Lockhart, I considered myself a traveler -- that's what I did for my living. Now I'm a homesteader. When I found this piece of property, I immediately wanted to make it into an international sanctuary where others could just stop and BE. If you want to stay here for a day or three months that might be cool. My hope is that I'd want to interact with you and vice versa. Maybe you want to do a meditation or writer's retreat and rather not have interaction. Fine. I can even prepare food for you. We can work it out. The NeighborhoodI love my neighbors -- the mules, the horses, the cows, the fowl, the pigs, the goats, and the humans. We keep to ourselves unless we need something. We have ALL kinds of political persuasions and we ALL get along. This is Texas. As long as you can laugh at yourself and your beliefs, everything is fine because everyone pokes fun at each other and it is fun and SMART. Getting AroundYou can pick up a CART's Shuttle at the Greyhound Bus Station that takes you to Lockhart and back to Austin on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and it costs $4.00 each way. Other Things to NoteIf you have handyman and gardening skills, you may be able to strike a deal with me.
