The SpaceBright north-facing first floor apartment in original 1916 warehouse in Chippendale with 4 metre high ceilings, natural light and original wooden floors. Quiet setting despite city fringe location. Comfortably sleeps up to 4 people in an open plan setting. Located within a 100 year old original warehouse building that houses a small number of creative studios and work/live spaces and operated as underground art space until a decade ago. The space has been recently renovated to reveal the original warehouse features including timber floors, beams and brickwork. Located on the edge of the Sydney CBD, on Cleveland St near Abercrombie St. Whilst most of our guests love our home, our apartment is not for everyone, so please read our full listing before booking. Guest AccessGuests will have access to a simple kitchen, bathroom with great shower, queen size bed (super comfy chiropractic mattress), high speed wireless internet, big fan and portable heater. The open plan warehouse apartment is eclectically furnished with vintage furniture and art, and has ample storage for luggage. Fresh towels, linen and shower products are provided. An extra 2 people can be accommodated if required on the day bed and extra mattress. Interaction with GuestsOnce you receive the keys the apartment is all yours to enjoy, with full privacy. We are not currently in Sydney and supervise bookings virtually, so we love to host guests who can communicate well and look after our home as if it was theirs. The NeighborhoodChippendale is an inner city neighbourhood full of cafes, bars and galleries, close to the city and trendy inner suburbs. Getting AroundCentral station is less than 10 minutes walk. Central Park & Broadway shops are 5-10 minute walk. Less than 2km from both Newtown and Surry Hills. The airport is about 20 minutes drive - reached via ~$20-30 taxi or airport train from Central. Free street parking is usually available in nearby streets (2 hour limits), or paid parking at nearby Sydney uni carpark on Shepherd St. ($6 weekend flat rate: (URL HIDDEN) Other Things to NotePlease note: We usually make up the queen bed for each guest and leave you to arrange bedding for the day bed and second single mattress where required with linen supplied. For one night, discounted or back to back bookings, and early check-ins, you may need to make the queen bed - please let us know when you book if this is an issue. We have our apartment professionally cleaned weekly but not necessarily between every booking, especially short stays. We request guests to treat our home as their own and clean up after themselves. The 'cleaning fee' is a contribution towards laundry costs for linen & towels and the weekly clean. This is a slightly DIY approach but we've done it this way to keep costs for you as low as possible & enable more flexibility around checkin times. If you require a dedicated clean before your booking, we can arrange this for an extra $79 (thats how much cleaning costs in Sydney!) The apartment is located in a 100 year old building, and filled with art and an eclectic mix of furniture. It is not designed to look or function like an Ikea catalogue or hotel so if this is what you desire, we suggest you find an alternate space. For international guests - Australia has bugs, and Sydney does have cockroaches, particularly in summer (December - March) and in older buildings its not unusual to see a couple. Our apartment is regularly cleaned, has just been renovated and we have baits but chose not to spray chemicals for health reasons. We ask that you keep our home clean and avoid leaving food out to avoid attracting the critters.

There are always people out an about because of its proximity to Sydney University. There are cafe's and restaurants, and several public transport options close by. The SpaceWe have a two-bedroom house, opposite a park and community centre. Our room and your room are both upstairs. Your room has a double bed, built-in wardrobes, a TV and plenty of storage space. The common areas are downstairs, with a combined lounge and dining and open plan kitchen. The backyard is really Jenny's domain but there are plenty of outdoor areas nearby for a coffee or relax in the sun. Guest AccessYou will have access to the whole house, including washing machine and clothesline. Interaction with GuestsWe would love to show you around the best spots of Redfern or further afar. During the week, we are fairly relaxed and enjoy a tipple over dinner. Over the weekend you can find us at the beach, out with our mates or imitating people who exercise. You are welcome to hang out with us as much or as little as you like. We've attempted to set your room up so that it has all you need if you would like a night in to chill. But we wouldn't be on AirBnB if we weren't champion breeze shooters. The NeighborhoodWe love Redfern and if you fancy a tasty meal, cool bar and an eclectic mix of Rabbitohs fans and bearded hipsters, you'll be on board too. 5 mins from the CBD, 10 mins to Surry Hills, 20 minutes to the beach, but you won't really want to leave - trust us. Redfern has a proud indigenous history, with a sweet nightlife and fringe culture to boot. Getting AroundRedfern is THE hub of transport. I dare you to nominate a place within the greater Sydney area that you can't get to from Redfern via public transport. We are two minutes from the train station by foot, and buses. Plus, we are surrounded by push-bike shops if you fancy some short term wheels. Even better, you can explore a lot of cool areas (Newtown, Surry Hills, the CBD and Harbour) by foot from our place. Other Things to NoteAs you know, we have a dog, Jenny. She is adorable and very friendly. She's small to medium sized and well-trained. Don't worry - her legs are too short to get up the stairs so you won't find her on your bed. Having Jenny makes us extra clean and tidy - so don't worry about any of that.

The Space"This was our first experience with an AirBNB booking and we were very impressed with how easy Linda made the whole experience from getting the key, the welcoming packet of biscuits, the offer to use all and sundry within the apartment. The location was perfect for us in that it was outside the CBD area yet walkable to it. The local restaurants, cafes were great and we have no hesitation in recommending the apartment to others" Chris and Bob, Canada "It was an honor to have had Linda as my very first AirBnB host. She was very accommodating and easy to talk with. She made sure we had everything we needed during our stay. She also provided directions to the best restaurants and tourist attractions. As for her place, it's well-organized and has an ample amount of space. The space is very comfortable that we were easily able to settle in. It also has all the essential appliances that a home needs. Its location is very convenient as it is relatively near to the city, close to grocery stores and restaurants, and within reach of a train/bus station for those who want to go around. I would highly recommend staying at Linda's place to anyone planning to visit Sydney! We sure had a great and hassle-free time during our stay!" Kevin, Philippines "Linda has been a warm and fantastic host! She gave us very good recommendation of the sight seeing places, sharing with us the nearby facilities/groceries markets etc. The house is really spacious for the two of us, with a living room/kitchen and a bedroom area on the second level. Very clean and neat, with all the daily necessities catered for! I will definitely be back should I be back to Sydney! Thank you Linda for the wonderful memory! " Jie Ying, Singapore "Linda was extremely responsive and attentive from the moment the booking request was made. She went the extra mile to make sure I would locate and enter the apartment easily, that I would have amenities ready for me before I even set foot in the country. She showed genuine care and concern, which is at times uncommon even among friends. Her apartment was spotless, thoughtfully designed and easy to get to from the airport (using airport-hotel shuttle buses, stop at Y Hotel Sydney South). It is minutes from cafes and the train station. It has a gorgeously open balcony and generous sunlight during the day. As it is very well insulated, I imagine stays during winter would be comfortable as well. The only guests who should reconsider this apartment are those who are unable to use staircase, as the bedroom is a stairway-up from the living area. Linda is an excellent host with an amazing apartment and if I were more selfish, I would not have spoken too highly of it, so that I can have it more to myself! :)" Raymond, Singapore A really convenient location. This apartment sleeps up to 4 over two levels. It's a clean, tidy, not too big and not too small sized apartment and offers an easy trip to Sydney, easy access to the Sydney train network, walking access to Broadway, Sydney Uni, Newtown, UTS, and even to Sydney City if you enjoy walking! Trains to everywhere are close by if you feel like it, just 4 minutes away. Theres a cafe, tea house and a quiet pub just across the street, plus there are restaurants, shopping centres are all in walking distance from the apartment and it's easy to get to from the airport. I have a car space and there is a car share vehicle down the street too. Even though it offers all this so close to the city and action, it's in a reasonably quiet location, with minimal traffic on the streets below. Guest AccessEasy check in procedure - if you want to arrive 11pm? Sure, no problem! :) You are free to access and use everything, except for spaces noted as "host only". Please let me know if you need the car space too. You are welcome to consume food you find there or use any bathroom products you find in the apartment, it's provided for your benefit. :D Interaction with GuestsLow interaction - I live Sydney but I do not live in the apartment during your stay. Having said that I like to touch base during your stay via text and/or email to check that everything is ok. If there are any issues I am contactable via mobile or through Airbnb. The NeighborhoodThis property is where Redfern/Darlington/Chippendale meet. Its a very convenient neighbourhood, however its on a quiet street and close to cafés and restaurants. The apartment is located an easy walk to the neighbourhoods of Newtown, Redfern and Chinatown and walkable (2.5km) to Darling Harbour. For groceries, I recommend going to the SPAR supermarket at Redfern station. Great choice of items for sale. :) This old neighbourhood is predominately made up of lovely old terraces but there are also many green spaces nearby. Town bike Pitstop cafe which is located just across the street is a good place to have breakfast or lunch, and there is a small boutique pub just next to it should you want something to drink. There's an organic tea shop just down the street too. Guests should try: * Going to the Harbour, I can suggest going for a walk across the bridge! You can also walk up a Harbour Bridge pylon (The South east one) for $13, or for something really special, book a bridgeclimb. Make sure you see the Opera House, and the entry to the Botannical Gardens is just behind it. * Go to the viewing platform of Centrepoint Tower (Sydney Tower) for a 360* view of the city. On a clear day you can get views all the way to the Blue Mountains. Or for something really special, have lunch or dinner in the revolving restaurant. In an hour you will have revolved the whole 360•. * Go for a wander through The Rocks - old historical neighbourhood. * Check out famous Bondi Beach. Trains run to Bondi then either walk or catch a bus. * Head to the neighbourhood of Newtown (just a short walk away) for the interesting shops and for the food. Wander towards Enmore!! It's easy to get the train back if you walk a long way. :) * Head to Chinatown for the food and sights of Darling Harbour - nice way to spend some time. Darling Harbour also has Madame Tussads, an Aquarium and a wildlife park. * Check out the Eveleigh Markets (every Saturday morning near Carriageworks), also check out the Redfern markets at the community centre which is on the first Friday afternoon/evening each month. * To get away from the crowds, go to the nearby green spaces - Victoria Park is closeby and you can go for a swim there. Relax and enjoy. * The apartment is a short walk to Sydney uni - check out the beautiful campus. You can also check the gym, pool or go indoor rockclimbing there (all for a fee) * Wander through to Broadway and also have a look at the Central Park buildings and parklands. Further afield you can: * Check out Paddington and Surry Hills - the shops over there are cool * Take a trip to Manly and/or Taronga zoo. (Go by ferry... It's a must!) * Spend a day or two up at the Blue Mountains. Get there by by train, drive or by tour bus. My favourite walk is the Overcliff-Undercliff track at Wentworth Falls. Bring warmer clothing - its usually a few degrees cooler. Getting AroundFor your convenience I provide Opal cards (transport cards) for your use while in Sydney, as as the ticketing system has changed. I just ask that you top the cards up again to a balance similar to how you found them before you depart from Sydney. The best way to from the airport to the apartment is to take a taxi. You are likely to get change back from $30. It's also just a 4 minute walk to Redfern station (which is 1 stop from Central), and you can be almost anywhere in the Sydney region pretty quickly. You need to change trains at Central though. It should only take ~15 minutes and cost just under $30 for a taxi. (To go back to the airport I suggest hailing a taxi from the other side of Cleveland St outside the convenience store.) There is a car share (GoGet) car 20 metres down the street, a bicycle hire cafe across the street and (some) buses nearby on Cleveland St. And... the apartment has a car space too. :) If you are very keen, you can walk the whole distance through the city to the Harbour Bridge - it's 4km away and will take approx. 50mins if you go at normal walking pace. Two tips: #1. The best public transport app for Sydney is Tripview. Tip #2. Use the Opal cards. It saves hassle and you don't have to worry about buying tickets. Plus at the end of the week your trips tend to be cheaper if you have made a number of journeys on the card. Tip #3. Strongly suggest using a taxi (over trains) to arrive at the apartment from the airport if there are 2 or more people. It's much easier and prices are about the same as two train fares. Other Things to NoteYou can use the space as you please however to comfortably accommodate 4 people, 2 would sleep upstairs and 2 downstairs in the living space on a convertible queen sized chaise sofa bed (Frieheiten Ikea sofa). The apartment has 2 toilets (one upstairs and one downstairs in the laundry), but just one shower (at the upstairs bedroom). * I have a hairdryer, a rice cooker and even a baby cot! * Full kitchen use is included. Milk is provided and some sauces, butter etc. Note you are completely welcome to consume any food you find in the apartment. Tea and coffee is provided. The complex has lots of fire extinguishers should you need them. An early check in/late check out maybe available. Let me know in advance if you would like this option and I will check if it's possible for you. An extremely early checkin may attract an extra half night accommodation charge since it makes it difficult to rent the apartment out for the night before. Please ask when enquiring. If the night before or after your booking is available you are more likely to get the early checkin/late checkout. But please enquire. If early checkin/late checkout is not available then it is possible to store your luggage in the apartment under the staircase. Just ensure I know in advance. You can checkin as late as you please, just let me know your arrival time and please contact me if you have any concerns. Also please be really quiet if coming in from 10pm, and you will need a torch or mobile phone camera light when checking in at night as it is dark. Thanks!

Our top floor apartment is close to all forms of public transport and less than five minutes by train to central Sydney, with secure underground parking available for those who prefer their own transport. The apartment is double glazed, keeping it quiet and serene even in its central location. Access is via lift to the fourth floor, with four shallow flights of stairs to our security apartment. We are two friends who own the apartment together, with one (female) in permanent residence. One of us works in the arts, and the other in media. We are both New Zealanders resident in Sydney for about 10 years. You will have a large double room (comfortable for two people) with good storage, a queen-sized bed and sofa. The room looks south over Sydney, with lovely light. A ceiling fan keeps it cool in summer, and heating is available if needed in winter. Guest AccessAll apartment facilities are shared, including kitchen with dishwasher and modern oven, bathroom with shower and bath, and internal laundry. Our security basement carpark is available at no extra charge. On-site there is a gym, sauna, pool and library. The SpaceLarge bright open plan living space with big north facing windows. The apartment has new floorboards and a newly renovated kitchen and bathroom. There's a bedroom with double bed, and space available in drawers and a hanging cupboard. Pure white peacefullness! I've also got a queen inflatable mattress which fits easily in the living area. You are welcome to have up to four guests in the space, but please be aware there is an additional charge for extra bedding and towels. Huge flatscreen TV, computer, printer, Apple TV, PVR, sneaky US Netflix, Hulu, HBO & Showtime (sshhh!) and fast wifi all included. There is a lovely succulent/herb garden outside. I'd ask that you give the plants a little water, and if you're a cook please use the herbs to your heart's content. There are double blinds to keep the place cool/ private/ free from TV reflection. There's also airconditioning. (PLEASE NOTE: There's a few reviews from when my aircon was playing up. It's since been reliably fixed). There's a large shared rooftop with views of the city, from which you will be able to see Sydney's famous fireworks on New Years Eve. Darlington is right on the CBD fringes but full of quiet, leafy and full of heritage homes. It's right next to the historic Sydney Uni, and filled with cafes, restaurants, and little wine bars. Newtown's King Street is packed with bars and restaurants, and also has a cinema. There's two lovely public pools within a fifteen minute walk, and also a large shopping centre at Broadway if you're doing some last minute Christmas shopping! There's also a gorgeous gourmet market at Carriageworks at Eveleigh which is ten minutes away. The streets are leafy and beautiful to stroll around. The beaches are a 20 min drive away and easily accessible by public transport, and if you're using this place as a base Central station is close and the place to get trains statewide. I also recommend GoGet car-sharing if you're not bringing a vehicle; it's very convenient and there's about 10 cars within a five minute walk of here. It's about 100m from Redfern train station, which is on every line in Sydney bar one. You'll be in the CBD inside of ten minutes. You're also within walking districts of the lifestyle hubs of Newtown and Surry Hills. I have a very beautiful, very neat, very shy little cat called Dolly. If you're a cat lover and would enjoy a creature to play with on your break, she will stay here. Otherwise I can organise a homestay for her. Likewise, if you want to bring your cat or dog, you're welcome to and I can leave some necessities. There is a pet door out to the balcony, and lots of dog friendly parks in the area. If these availability dates suit you but are off by a few days; contact me and I'm sure we can work something out. NOTE: I've temporarily removed aircon from the listing as it's currently on the blink. If your booking is more than a few weeks in the future I hope to have it fixed, but if you have concerns please just message me and I will give you more info. In the meantime there's an excellent fan. Guest AccessThere's a large rooftop terrace with city views, from which you will be able to see the famous Sydney NYE fireworks at 9pm. Unfortunately guest access is not available after 10pm. Interaction with GuestsDepending on your time of arrival, myself or someone else can greet you if neccesary, and we'll be available to you while you're staying in the property. The NeighborhoodThe neighbourhood feels quite quiet, but there's lovely cafes, restaurants and bars all within a few minutes walk. The streets are leafy and lovely to wander around. You'd never know you were ten minutes from the CBD. Getting AroundI'm 200m from Redfern train station, which is on every public train line in Sydney, so everything is very accessible. One stop away is Central, with statewide train connections if you plan to visit other areas. The lifestyle hubs of Surry Hills and Newtown are both walking distance. Other Things to NoteI have a very beautiful, neat, shy little cat called Dolly. If you are a cat lover and would enjoy a creature to play with on your break, she can stay. Otherwise I'll organise a holiday for her too. The place is pet friendly, with a cat door out to the balcony, and plenty of dog parks in the area. (I also have pet toys to leave out if you're bringing your furry friend along). There's a lot of plants, which require a little water, and a roaring herb garden if you like to cook. There's also airconditioning, double blinds to keep the place cool/ dark at night, fans, and a comfy counch if an extra guest is staying. Big TV with Apple TV, PVR, US Netflick (shhh!) and fast wifi. I also have a computer and printer should you need one.

The SpaceAVAILABILITY This is our family house so we only Airbnb when we are on holiday. NOTE: This Christmas and summer are looking for a booking for three weeks during the times available. We are keen to host a family, not party people. LOCATION Recently renovated Victorian terrace house close to hip inner-city Darlington's cafe strip and beautiful parks. Great location, walking distance (1.5-3km) to Newtown, Glebe, Surry Hills as well as Sydney city, Chinatown, Darling Harbour. The house has been renovated but retains its terrace features. Close to public transport (both train and bus). The University of Sydney, with its beautiful grounds for strolling and jogging is at the end of the street! 'The Carriageworks' heritage-list arts and market centre is a block away. An easy walk for Saturday morning coffee and organic food shopping at the Eveleigh Farmers Markets. It is an easy walk (50 metres) to a lovely safe local playground and the house is in walking distance to a number of other parks, including Victoria Park, which also has a 50m swimming pool (heated in winter, open year round), with gym. The neighbourhood is safe, quiet and friendly. We are on a street which non city people might think is nosy by it's a suburb thoroughfare, rather than a main artery. THE HOUSE Renovated terrace house with 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom (with bath and a separate toilet), gourmet kitchen with everything you need including a large oven and 6-burner cook top, open plan dining and lounge room (with french doors to close if you want some peace) and brand new sunny garden with small grassed area and deck (the laundry is hidden in the deck cupboards). A great house for a family holiday. The house is full of lots of quirky pieces of art. mostly painted by family and friends. DINING ROOM You enter the house into a hallway which leads to the dining room. The dining table is a large one, hand crafted from colonial timber reclaimed from industrial use. The table comfortably seats 6, but you can use stools to fit 10 without too much crowding. There are at least 40 cookbooks on the shelves and hundreds of novels and political biographies. The (almost new) sound system (CDs / ipods connectivity) is here too. You can also make your own music with the small piano. LOUNGE / TV ROOM The dining room is connected via French doors to the lounge room with flat screen TV, heaps of DVDs (for kids and adults), lots of kids games and plenty more books and magazines (about cooking!). We have a smart tv. KITCHEN / STUDY NOOK The dining room is separated from the kitchen via a set of ornate stairs. As you pass by the stairs you will notice a 'Harry Potter study' (a study nook under the stairs with a PC connected to a wireless printer). The 2 year old kitchen will impress foodie travelers and will explain the cookbook collection. The large Ilve free standing gas stove has 6 burners and the oven is big enough for the largest turkey. The kitchen has a great dishwasher large fridge, microwave, double sink, espresso coffee machine and grinder, excellent mix master and new blender and toaster. The kitchen is stocked with ample puts and pans, glasses, plates and everything you need for a lovely meal. BATHROOM The kitchen is connected via a short hallway to the bathroom (with bath and shower) and the toilet is right next door. BACK GARDEN AND DECK (with hidden laundry) Down a few steps you reach the brand new deck and garden. The 1950s garden setting is a the perfect place to sit and read the paper and enjoy your morning coffee. There is a small grassed area for the family to play on. The landscaping is a year old (the photo shows it as we planted in December 2012, the gfences are now covered in passionfruit) Hopefully our native Australian plants and our passion fruit will be fruiting and flourishing when you arrive you arrive. As we are keen cooks, you will find enough basic fresh herbs (sage, rosemary, basil, oregano, thyme) in the garden to keep you going while visiting. The front loader washer is hidden in the deck cupboards. We have a clothesline and hangers for beach towels as well. We don't have a dryer as we are attempting to cut down on our family's energy consumption. (If you have a particularly rainy stay or urgent drying to do, we are 2 minutes walk from a laundromat) 3 BEDROOMS All of the bedrooms are upstairs. Queen bedroom 1 - at the front of the house living, with windows onto the back garden. It has french doors overlooking the street, and has a lovely sea breeze most evenings (if the Southerly is blowing) and security grills for peace of mind. Double bedroom 2 - the middle bedroom, lovely and quiet. Kids bedroom - overlooking the neighbourhood and gum trees. Single trundle bed (2 single beds, 1 pulls out form under the top bed). Note the photo shows bunks, but in December 2015 we are replaced these. WI-FI is included and we will give you our passwords when we meet LINEN & TOWELS INCLUDED KIDS WELCOME. Kids toys and books are there for you to use. Please note there are lots of stairs in our house, so you might need to watch toddlers. NO SMOKING INSIDE please. PARKING: On-street parking only. Because the house is very close to Sydney Uni, the street is a 1 hour parking zone Monday - Friday 8am - 8pm. Weekends and public holidays are 'all day parking'. There are some all day parking spots in a number of streets within a 50 - 100m, I can provide you with a map of all day parking spots. GOGET: There are 6 'GOGET' (a car share / hire system) cars within 100 meters of the house. While we are very close to transport, if you wanted to do a daytrip in a car, GOGET is an economical and accessible hire option. There's some shops just one block away, including a mini supermarket with basic food and supplies, a few cheap places to eat, a few pubs, and lots of great cafes. There's a bigger supermarket 10-15 minutes walk away. Getting AroundSydney doesn't have the world's greatest public transport but this is one of the few places where it is good. The house is literally 2 minutes walk from Redfern station where almost all the trains in Sydney stop and also close to many bus routes. The CBD is also 15 minute walk away if you want some fresh air. Free parking is available 1 block away and 2 hour parking is available outside the front door.

The SpaceThe Darling Studio: Wilson Lane, Darlington, NSW (Sydney's Inner West) Hi there - Please contact me before making a reservation - just to check dates are free. It is helpful if you have a profile/description on airbnb or, if you can explain a little bit about yourself and your reason for travel. Thanks so much! For Christmas and New Year bookings, we do not take bookings less than 5 nights and also, we do not accept check-ins Christmas Day (i.e., you must check in at least the day before). For stays over Christmas and the New Year, we are often not home, but you can still stay here! Thank you. A bargain? Airbnb advises hosts of how much they might like to charge for their unit, based on their analysis of comparable properties nearby. In July 2015, Airbnb are recommending that we charge about $148 per night (and it is fairly standard for listings to add additional $10 - $20 per night for extra guests). We decided to stick with just $112 per night to make this one of the cheapest self-contained apartments this close to the city - it is small is size but we offer GREAT service, spotless cleanliness and lots of comfort and style. We offer accommodation for a maximum of two people only. Serviced accommodation The Darling Studio is a stylish and self-contained studio with new, contemporary furnishings. We provide short or long term serviced accommodation. Quiet, sunny and spotlessly clean, The Darling Studio is ideally located just minutes away from the University of Sydney, Carriageworks, and the Seymour Theatre. Is there much traffic noise? The studio is situated overlooking a lane. The lane is not a thorough-fare, as mostly only our neighbours use the lane to access their garages, but occasionally you do hear delivery vans pass by for the shops on the next street. Run by a local family, we aim to provide a warm, friendly, and client-focused service to ensure your stay is delightful. We've been doing this for over three years now, so use that experience to try to make your stay as great as possible. We offer lots of little extras, such as basics in the kitchen (e.g., olive oil, vinegar, butter, salt, pepper, fresh milk and tea/coffee, etc and lots more) to increase your comfort. FREE internet is also provided. We look forward to welcoming you soon. AMENITIES Natural light flows into The Darling Studio, which is freshly painted throughout. You will enjoy: * Your own private ensuite, with toilet and shower * A small kitchenette with bar fridge (with an electric hotplate with two burners; no oven) * Built in (small) robe and additional storage * Private access from rear lane * A weekly cleaning service * Access to a (shared) laundry with washing machine and dryer (washing detergent supplied) * Large flat screen TV; DVD - music plays through the TV via a USB so bring your music to enjoy * A selection of DVDs and books to enjoy while staying at The Darling Studio * Hairdryer, iron, overhead fan, microwave, heaters, two-burner electric hotplate, toaster, rice-cooker, a hand-mixer for smoothies, kettle with tea/coffee provided + more * FREE Wireless internet The Darling Studio is the only short-term accommodation on site, so you will not have to hear many guests coming or going. SO WHAT IS THE DOWNSIDE? There's lots of things that are fantastic about our Studio, but what is less-than- perfect? * The Darling Studio is a small space - but really well designed and very comfortable. Singles/Couples both tell us it has been perfect for them, and great value for money. They tell us things like all the little extras, the location, convenience to so many amenities and the great service they receive is more important to them. * The Darling Studio overlooks a lane-way and so the outlook is not-so-scenic. Most guests who stay with us tells us things like that they like the 'urban-vibe', and that they are always out and about in beautiful Sydney, so they don't need a nice outlook through the day in any case. As it is situated on an urban laneway, you will hear some noise from vehicles. Please note, it is NOT a thorough-fare so only people with garages facing onto the laneway use it. This means it not a high-volume area. Occassionally, deliveries will be made to the cafes nearby, and that can cause truck noise. Garbage trucks collect rubbish every Friday morning - so there will be noise Friday mornings for sure. * The Darling Studio sits above our garage but the sound of the car coming and going is not intrusive and we don't use the car often. We NEVER use the car before 5am, as was suggested in one review written in late 2014. Because we recognise these limitations in size and outlook, we price it as the cheapest self-contained accommodation this close to the city (and you get the modern, spotlessly clean presentation as bonuses, that we deliver along with terrific service). HOUSE RULES The Darling Studio is strictly non-smoking and a no-party policy applies. See more details in the 'tab' "house rules". The nightly rate includes internet, and a range of light/basic groceries stocked in the pantry for your first night stay. Guest AccessOur guests have their own entrance, and separate accommodation, with their own bathroom. There is shared access to the laundry (that you can use for free) There is shared access to a lovely, small courtyard, with bench seats. The main house is separated from the Studio by the courtyard. Guests can access the Darling Studio Wifi / internet free of charge. While the internet is usually excellent, we cannot guarantee internet in the rare event of a technical fault outside of our control - happily this rarely happens! Interaction with GuestsAlthough we live in the main house, we give you lots of privacy. However, if you need anything, just knock on the back door, call or email and we will help out. The NeighborhoodThe neighbourhood is vibrant and lovely. Once an area with a rougher reputation, it is now becoming gentrified and has a strong, family community spirit. Lots of families and academics are our neighbours. There are several local cafes and take-aways at your doorstep, vibrant Farmers Markets in our street on weekends, and we are near 2 large culture/performing arts centres (Seymour theatre and Carriageworks), if you want to catch a show while here - check out their websites. You can walk there! The studio is also walking distance to the vibrant Newtown and Glebe, yet remains a peaceful area. Getting AroundLocation & Getting Around The Darling Studio is in a fantastic location. Despite being located within 40ms of local friendly cafes, shops and parks, it is usually whisper-quiet. It is situated on a laneway, so the outlook is not stunning, but happily The Darling Studio is only 15 minutes walk to the hustle and bustle and all that King Street (Newtown), and its fabulous cafe and restaurant lifestyle, has to offer. As the Studio overlooks a laneway, even though it is not a thorough-fare, you do hear vehicle noise and delivery vans occasionally. Redfern train station is just minutes away (but far enough away so that train noise is not a problem). By train, you can be at The Opera House, and the centre of Sydney, in less than 15 minutes. We are located just minutes from the University of Sydney, while UTS and Notre Dame campuses are a slightly longer walk away (about 12 - 18 minutes). Australian Technology Park is also just 15 minutes walk away. The Darling Studio is also within an easy walking distance to a large Shopping Centre (Broadway, and we have available a shopping trolley to help you get your groceries home with ease) and it is just a few minutes to the local train Station. The Sydney city centre is only 3kms (approx) away, or about 10 minutes by train. Two large (50m) local heated pools are also nearby within an easy, almost-flat walking distance (one is outside in a large & lovely park, while the other is undercover). Beautiful, local farmers markets occur every Saturday in our street and wonderfully funky 'designer' markets are regular events on the first Sunday of every month. The Seymour Theatre is also within close walking distance, as is “Carriage Works” -- so you can readily enjoy its wonderful art exhibitions, restaurant, dance and drama performances. Try these links for some ideas about what to do within walking distance: (URL HIDDEN) and (URL HIDDEN) and (URL HIDDEN) The airport is about 25 minutes by taxi. PARKING There is on-street parking only. One side of the street is a 1 hour parking zone. The other side is free all day, with no time restriction. Note - It is very rare for you not to find a park in our street when we need one. Feedback from our earlier guests (Before airbnb) What a jewel: This studio is beautifully designed, practical, clean, peaceful with a lovely court yard, and in walking distance to the University of Sydney and Redfern station (one station from Central station). The hosts are most welcoming and helpful while guaranteeing privacy and individuality to the guest. The parallel street is charming, too, with student atmosphere, small coffee shops, deli and restaurants. The Darling Studio is definitely my favourite accommodation in Sydney (Stefan, German/Swiss professor, five separate visits across 2011 and 2012). The Darling Studio is my cozy and beautifully designed haven whenever I am in Sydney. The hosts are warm and welcoming with an eye for attention and comfort. The location is ideal, a very short walk to Redfern train station and the neighbourhood is filled with charming cafes and friendly neighbours. I highly recommend a stay (Heather, Consultant, four separate visits across 2011). I stayed at the Darling Studio for a week and the only way to sum up the place is to say it was a home away from home! The hosts were wonderful and assisted with all my inquiries (eg. location of hairdresser, train services, best eatery, etc). The Darling Studio was not only clean and fresh but contained EVERYTHING you could possibly need and more than is advertised (eg. DVD's, books, maps, take away pamphlets, shampoo, ear buds, basic foods - just everything). I would highly recommend it to anyone needing a place to stay in Sydney. The price you pay for what you get is great value and only a short distance (via train or taxi) away from major attractions in Sydney. Definitely will be staying there again in the future! (Claudia, Midwife, October 2011). I was a Japanese visiting researcher in Sydney University and stayed in this studio for eleven months. It was very convenient for commuting to Uni. and for shopping at Broadway and Eveleigh Markets. On weekends I walked down to Cockle Bay, Circular Quay and Hyde Park and went to suburbs from nearby Redfern Railway Station. The hosts are very kind and friendly. If you want to concentrate on your work in the day and to have a quiet night, you can do it here just as I did (Professor Ueshima, 2010-2011). What a wonderful place to stay and so close to everything important; cafes, pubs and shops. I especially loved the little touches, like a pre stocked fridge to help ease you through the first couple of days whilst recovering from travel. Lovely place and helpful happy people to deal with ... what more could you ask for! (Geoffrey, Dislocate Circus Theatre Company, 2011). ... thank you for our stay - we had a wonderful time ... The hospitality offered by you was first rate, and the little touches like providing milk, fruit and bread every so often was highly appreciated (Jim, IT specialist, 2010). A word of thanks for making our recent 3-week stay in your beautiful Darling Studio a most wonderfully comfortable experience. The moment you welcomed us, we felt we had truly arrived in our Home Away from Home !!! From your beautiful studio furnishings, the boutique linens; towels, to the specially stocked pantry, fresh foods, and flowers, you thought of everything !! … We look forward to returning; definitely recommend your "Darling Studio"! Until we meet again, health and happiness to you all, Sincerely Crystall and Alisia (Surrey, British Columbia Canada November, 2010). Other Things to NoteCHECKING IN AND CHECKING OUT While we have set preferred check-in (2pm) and check-out times (9 - 9.30am), we will be as flexible as possible outside of these times to accommodate your needs whenever we can.
