The SpaceBlue Hole Gardens provides four distinct " spaces" for guests to discover and explore. The first space is the Victorian cottage, where the finest English linen and lace edged silk gauze cover the canopy beds ; an old fashioned English claw foot bathtub and outdoor shower recreates the magic of a Jamaica that has long since disappeared ….. Sharna lovingly cleans , cooks and prepares the ital juices from our own organic vegetable and fruit garden . This space is definitely a bride's dream. The second space is the botanical and organic fruit and vegetable gardens . All the fruits that you have heard about are growing here , as well as the traditional maroon herbs which are used daily ! The Blue Hole and the river spots are the crowning glory of these magical and mysterious spaces. The third space is the secluded woodland walks behind the Blue Hole , dotted with tiny fresh water springs , butterflies and hummingbirds. This space is part of the Roaring River Water Sanctuary, and is cared for and maintained by the volunteers of our community. The fourth space is the village and the community. Come and meet the courageous men and women of Jamaica who you cannot ever meet in hotels! Guest AccessGuests will have access to the entire upstairs and downstairs of the cottage , as well as the gardens, which are open to the public between 9 AM and 4 PM . A private cook and housekeeper will care for you in the kitchen . For those seeking absolute privacy , cooking can be done in the downstairs kitchen , and brought up to the cottage , or served in the gazebo by the Blue Hole. Interaction with GuestsThe owners will not be present , however the five staff members , including the housekeepers , gardener, and security staff will welcome and care for the guests. The NeighborhoodThe Blue Hole Garden and Roaring River Water Sanctuary project have acted as a rallying cry for change and hope for the community. Long time abandoned by the local authorities , with a failed community based tourism project around the caves, Roaring River has been rated as a place where tourists are ripped off and scammed. This situation is changing completely , as the community itself refuses that a handful of it's members continues to ruin chances for a new beginning! The Blue Hole project is working in the heart of the community to help bring about the long awaited changes for which the villagers hope . Part of our proceeds goes to village charity programs , as we work hand in hand with the Roaring River Youth Club , and share our organic vegetables elderly of the community. Each guest is therefore helping us to achieve our goals , and we are grateful to them all! Getting AroundThere are two convenient options for getting around : the first is to rent a car at the airport in Montego Bay and arrive directly at the property. This option is not recommended if guests arrive after sunset , as driving at night in Jamaica can be a little hair raising! The second option is to be picked up at the airport by Dale , our professional tour guide from Roaring River, who will bring you home! He can then take you into Savana- La-Mar the next day to rent your own vehicle. Or simply use him as your own private chauffeur to drive you to all the great tourist spots , or anywhere you might want to go . Dale is a very respected member of our community , and he is President of the Roaring River Youth Club. Other Things to NoteFor a single person or a couple who are using the downstairs suite , we are charging $220 U.S. a night. Tipping is very much appreciated by our staff.

    This high-spec holiday home has a unique location in rural Jamaica with breath-taking views, stunning wildlife, forest, mountains and a chance to experience the real Jamaica. It is in the undiscovered village of Bessie Baker - a 45 minute drive from Montego Bay airport and attractions - and offers a great chance to explore Jamaica at its greenest and most beautiful. The home has three very spacious bedrooms - two containing one double bed each and the third containing two double beds. There are also two double airbeds which can be added to the bedrooms or living area. The extremely spacious living area is completely open plan and comprises a kitchen, complete with double oven, American style fridge/freezer complete with water and ice dispenser, double sink with mixer tap, plenty of cupboard space and all kitchen equipment provided. The living area also boasts a comfortable sofa and armchairs, plus dining table and chairs. The first bathroom contains a double jacuzzi complete with mood lights and music; sink and toilet. The second bathroom has a large spa-style shower, sink and toilet. The garden is a great place to soak up some sun, although the long-established trees surrounding the lawn also offer plenty of shade from the Caribbean sun. There is a large shaded patio which is a great place to relax with a drink and experience the many types of humming birds, unusual butterflies and fireflies which are so abundant in this area. Bessie Baker is an undiscovered, beautiful village situated in the heart of rural Jamaica, surrounded by lush green mountains and offering stunning views. It is completely untouched by tourism or industry and a haven for people wanting the ultimate relaxing break or a wildlife adventure. Firefly Villa is perched at the top of a valley - surveying acres of flourishing trees, shrubs and greenery. The village is made up of roughly 20 homes including three immediate, friendly neighbours. It is possible to wander for miles exploring a completely different side of Jamaica to that usually portrayed - yet it is just a short drive from many of the most popular attractions and coastlines. This area offers a wonderful opportunity to see Caribbean nature up close and personal, at your own pace. It is a very friendly area and villagers welcome visitors - and love to share their stories, history and tips on exploring the wonderful mountains, countryside and wildlife. The range of butterfiles, fireflies, dragonflies, moths, birds and wildlife has to be seen to be believed. There is nothing quite like relaxing on the veranda watching the wonders of nature take place all around. Bessie Baker is a haven for birds, particularly the island's humming birds, and they are easily spotted in the trees surrounding the garden. Many villagers live largely from fresh produce grown nearby. This includes mangos, avocados, bread fruit, oranges, bananas, coconuts, pineapples, sweet potato, yam, cocoa and plantain - all of which are seasonally available to buy from villagers. There is also plenty of opportunity to try fruits which are only found in Jamaica, and are well worth experiencing. Bessie Baker and the surrounding area also offers an abundance of plants and herbs which have been used by generations of families for their healing properties - villagers are more than happy to explain the background, uses and stories surrounding these plants which often have medicinal uses. There are several small shops within a few minutes walk and there are always villagers selling fresh produce picked from the area on the roadsides. Our nephew Dane is dedicated to assisting you throughout your stay. He lives in a room on the lower level of the building. Guest AccessEnjoy the large upper balcony overlooking mountains, a rainforest ravine ,and local road along which the local people walk to and from school, work, and play. The community residents are both friendly and colorful. Cashews, fish, and ice cream can be purchased from walk and drive-by vendors. Interaction with GuestsOur 29 year old nephew, Dane is the host who lives on the property. He can assist with all of your needs - cooking, driving, tour guide. Plan to pay Dane for his time at a rate of $30/day with extra for tips as you see fit. This can be paid directly to Dane as you use his assistance. Dane will likely be hesitant to ask directly so please speak up about using his services! The NeighborhoodLocal community - guests will feel like a part of the community as locals are very friendly and accomodating. Nearby town of Haddo offers a convenience market and the Island Famous SOUP man! Feel free to wander the side streets off of the main road walking by the homes of local residents and into the hillsides beyond. Please do not photograph people without permission. Getting AroundLocal busses run frequently into the city of Savannah La Mar (20 minutes) or Montego Bay (45 minutes). Busses can also be taken to Bluefield's beach. We can provide a driver for your rental car or a private car with driver at your request. Dane can help to make these arrangements upon your arrival. We have a host Dane, who is our nephew and stays on the property. Dane can assist with day trips, planning your itinerary and even cooking a meal at your request! Plan to pay Dane approximately $30 US (or the Jamaican equivalent) for his time - tipping is at your complete discretion. These funds can be paid directly to Dane for his services as desired. Walk to local haberdashery for food and sundries. Hike through the streets of Haddo into the mountainous areas surrounding the Villa. Feast your eyes on stunning palms, bamboo, and other local flora! Great birdwathcing! Enjoy the laid back enviornment as you watch the comings and goings of the friendly and colorful locals. Getting AroundThere are local busses that pick up frequently throughout the day in front of the property for trips into Savannah La Mar for shopping or to the local beach. Bus cost is approximately $2 US each way. Taxi's are also plentiful. We also can provide driver with/without their own vehicle with advance notice. Other Things to NotePublic transportation is easily available to the city of Savannah La Mar and Bluefield's beach both approximatley 20 minutes away. Drive yourself or arrange transportation to Negril, Montego Bay or other local attractions. We have also provided a list of other local attractions including Rocklands Bird Sanctuary, Bluefield's Beach, the City of Belmont where Peter Tosh grew up, Roaring River/Blue hole and other activities for guests to enjoy! There are plenty of nearby activities to keep guests entertained for a week!

The NeighborhoodThe Rose Hall House is located in the upmarket and picturesque of Rosehall. Which is surrounded dby an attraction of seaview. There is two shopping centre 6 minutes drive (Whitter Village and Blue Diamond) also a banks and post office 3 minutes drive from the holiday rental. Getting AroundPublic transport is less 3 minutes away, local taxis can be arranged to pick you up. Chartered taxis can be arranged to take you on excursions. Arrangements can be made for pick up and drop off to the airport. Other Things to NoteThere is a local shop 3 minutes away, and a doctor surgery within walking distance. Nearby attraction :Doctor cave beach in Montego Bay, Dunns River Falls in Ocho Rios, Rosehall Golf Course. Local beach 2km.
