The SpaceI have up to two rooms available for various lengths of time for as long as you need in a very nice bright house about two-three miles from UC Davis campus depending on the part of campus you need to get to near the greenbelt and bus lines. The bedrooms are comfortably very simple with a double bed, dresser, closet and desk. The main areas of the house are bright and open. The house is generally very peaceful, although my daughter and I are around some of the time--mostly in the evenings after 7 pm and part of the weekend when we don't go out of town. When the house is completely full, there are up to 4 adults [at the most] and one child living here. Up to 2-3 people [usually 2] share a bathroom (my daughter and I use the bathroom in my room). I am happy to accommodate couples for short-term stays of up to a week or two, especially when they are "extra" considerate of the other people in the house. If you like to cook, the kitchen is very nice with everything you need.
I lease this house and have been subleasing rooms here for going on 8 years and have enjoyed getting to know people from all over the world.
I have become good friends with the people who truly valued the comfort of this place, and if you are one of them, I can help you connect with much more interesting people than me throughout the world to stay with should you be one of those lucky explorers.
This is a very eco-conscious environment and I get along especially well with people who think that conserving energy/resources and preventing unnecessary waste is important. With the cooler/warmer weather depending on the season, this place works best for people who do not instantly run the heater/air conditioner and are motivated to wear layers and take them off according to the season.
If you would like to stay in a comfortable, mostly very quiet, down-to-earth place, look no further. If you are not quite as "eco-conscious" as the (URL HIDDEN) problem as long as you are fully informed of what to adjust to, communicate well immediately let the host [me] know if you are uncomfortable for any reason, and can appreciate doing your small part with cleaning up after yourself as you go so that others staying here will have as good of an experience as you. Guest AccessGuests will have access to the kitchen, bathroom, and washing machine [no drier, although a clothesline in the backyard and drying racks are at your disposal]. Interaction with GuestsI prefer to give guests as much privacy as they desire. If/when we cross paths in the house, I enjoy good conversations, and even the occasional shared meal, as long as schedules and the desire to interact in this way aligns well with the guest's [and my] preferences for further opportunity to get to know each other better. The NeighborhoodI am fortunate to live in a very peaceful, safe part of Davis with plenty of free parking and parks/greenbelt areas within walking distance that is also less than 2 miles from central Davis and about 2.5 miles away from the east side of UC Davis. Getting AroundBus lines are less than a block away, and I may be able to loan a bike or two to those guests who need them--lock, light, and helmet included! Other Things to NoteI have lived in Davis for a little more than a decade now and very much enjoy sharing some of my favorite restaurants, hiking areas, etc., with interested guests.
