The SpaceI have up to two rooms available for various lengths of time for as long as you need in a very nice bright house about two-three miles from UC Davis campus depending on the part of campus you need to get to near the greenbelt and bus lines. The bedrooms are comfortably very simple with a double bed, dresser, closet and desk. The main areas of the house are bright and open. The house is generally very peaceful, although my daughter and I are around some of the time--mostly in the evenings after 7 pm and part of the weekend when we don't go out of town. When the house is completely full, there are up to 4 adults [at the most] and one child living here. Up to 2-3 people [usually 2] share a bathroom (my daughter and I use the bathroom in my room). I am happy to accommodate couples for short-term stays of up to a week or two, especially when they are "extra" considerate of the other people in the house. If you like to cook, the kitchen is very nice with everything you need. I lease this house and have been subleasing rooms here for going on 8 years and have enjoyed getting to know people from all over the world. I have become good friends with the people who truly valued the comfort of this place, and if you are one of them, I can help you connect with much more interesting people than me throughout the world to stay with should you be one of those lucky explorers. This is a very eco-conscious environment and I get along especially well with people who think that conserving energy/resources and preventing unnecessary waste is important. With the cooler/warmer weather depending on the season, this place works best for people who do not instantly run the heater/air conditioner and are motivated to wear layers and take them off according to the season. If you would like to stay in a comfortable, mostly very quiet, down-to-earth place, look no further. If you are not quite as "eco-conscious" as the (URL HIDDEN) problem as long as you are fully informed of what to adjust to, communicate well immediately let the host [me] know if you are uncomfortable for any reason, and can appreciate doing your small part with cleaning up after yourself as you go so that others staying here will have as good of an experience as you. Guest AccessGuests will have access to the kitchen, bathroom, and washing machine [no drier, although a clothesline in the backyard and drying racks are at your disposal]. Interaction with GuestsI prefer to give guests as much privacy as they desire. If/when we cross paths in the house, I enjoy good conversations, and even the occasional shared meal, as long as schedules and the desire to interact in this way aligns well with the guest's [and my] preferences for further opportunity to get to know each other better. The NeighborhoodI am fortunate to live in a very peaceful, safe part of Davis with plenty of free parking and parks/greenbelt areas within walking distance that is also less than 2 miles from central Davis and about 2.5 miles away from the east side of UC Davis. Getting AroundBus lines are less than a block away, and I may be able to loan a bike or two to those guests who need them. Other Things to NoteI have lived in Davis for a little more than a decade now and very much enjoy sharing some of my favorite restaurants, hiking areas, etc., with interested guests.

The SpaceLocated in downtown Davis, across the street from the Davis Food Co-op and walking distance to all the best downtown dining and shopping. Located 7 blocks from UC Davis. Ample street parking available right outside your door. This is a recently remodeled detached studio that doubles as an office/guest house. It has a bathroom/shower, a futon, and a desk. The space includes cable television, high-speed internet, and a land-line phone with free nationwide calling, and a small refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, and coffee maker. This guest house is located behind a main house occupied by a family of 4, including two young children and a very friendly dog. Guest AccessYou will have your own, private detached structure with a bathroom and kitchenette (toaster, microwave, small refrigerator, coffee maker). Feel free to make use of the courtyard area between the houses - to relax, or store your bikes. Please let us know if you would like a loaner bike while you're in town - its be best way to get around in town and on campus. Interaction with GuestsWe are happy to provide recommendations for dining or other activities. Just ask! The NeighborhoodOld North Davis (now considered part of Downtown Davis) was the first residential development in the City of Davis. The old sidewalks still show the concrete stamps of the 50 houses that made up "The Bower's Addition." The charming cottages of this era (most in the 1940s) are built in the Traditional Minimal architectural style - basic cottages with small footprints. District design guidelines have ensured that remodels (like ours) preserve the character of the Traditional Minimal architectural style. Getting AroundFrom the airport, consider a taxi (available curbside) or the Davis Airporter (group van). Travel to Sacramento and San Francisco is easy with Amtrak trains. The train station is only four blocks from our house. If you're going to San Francisco on the train, you will take the Amtrak "Capitol Corridor" to Richmond, where you will transfer to a BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) train. There are several BART trains so just look for the one that goes to San Francisco/San Francisco Airport from Richmond. Service to UC Davis is provided by the Unitrans Bus, but since our place is only 7 blocks from campus, its faster to walk or ride a bike. Other Things to NoteFollowing your booking confirmation, we will follow up with detailed instructions for parking and accessing the property.

The SpaceMy location in Davis is almost unbeatable. I am in Old East Davis just a few blocks from the train station and all of downtown. The neighborhood is quiet, safe, and almost anything you could want in Davis is a short walk away, including the University which is just a little less than a mile from my doorstep. Guest AccessYou will have complete access to one of the two bedrooms in my apartment. There is only the one bathroom, which is shared, but it is generally plenty for myself and guests. I have a cozy back patio that is great for outdoor eating and relaxing when the weather is nice, and the apartment complex has a pool and several outdoor barbecue grills. You are welcome to use any of the cookware, dishes and utensils in the kitchen. All I ask is that you clean up after yourself. Food is not provided, but there are several grocery stores within walking distances of the apartment. Laundry facilities are available, but are coin operated. Quarters can be obtained from the local grocery stores. Interaction with GuestsI'm generally pretty busy person, so you may not see much of me. I do enjoy having guests, but I'm just as happy to partake in a little conversation as to let my guests have quiet, uninterrupted time to themselves. The NeighborhoodDowntown Davis is full of great restaurants. There's something for just about every palette. There is a Farmer's Market in central park every Saturday morning (and Wednesday evenings in the summertime), and live music is not uncommon. Getting AroundAmtrak train and bus station is only a few small blocks away. I have wheeled/carried my luggage to the train many times. UC Davis manages a bus system called Unitrans that will take you just about anywhere in Davis ((URL HIDDEN) Transportation to and from the airport is available through the Davis Airporter ((URL HIDDEN) and the Super Shuttle ((URL HIDDEN)

The SpaceThe room has a comfortable bed, small desk, dresser and closet space. You will have access to your own bathroom to be shared when I have company or when there is another guest. The neighborhood is quiet. Guest AccessPlease note that females are preferred, but I will consider male students or visiting scholars at UCD. You will have access to your room and bathroom, kitchen and dining room, back yard patio and front of house seating area. There is wi-fi internet. It's best to watch TV on your own computer with headphones. Interaction with GuestsI work during the weekdays as a school teacher, and am available to chat with you in the evening and on the weekend. I can tell you about local places to visit. I have a cat. The NeighborhoodDavis is a university town with local charm. It is about 1 1/2 hours from San Francisco, close to Napa Valley, and about 3 hours from Lake Tahoe and the Sierras. Sacramento, the state capital, is a short 15 minute drive away. If you're working at the university, my home is a 10-15 minute drive by car, or a 15-20 minute bike ride. Getting AroundThere is a public transportation system around town and also to Sacramento. The bus stop is two short blocks away from my home. There is even a bus to the airport. Davis is known as the bike capital of the US. You can rent a bike while here and easily get around town on the bike lane system. I have an older Cruiser bike that you can borrow while at my home. Davis is about 7 miles east to west so you can go anywhere by bike, day or night. Other Things to NoteYou must have a profile on this site and references if possible. I will consider requests for stays longer than two weeks for visiting scholars (preferably female) or UCD students visiting for several months. In that case I will ask you to sign a contract and will negotiate a monthly price. I am a quiet person, early to bed, early to rise. I am respectful of others' schedules and would ask you to be likewise. Quiet time for me begins at 9 pm, so if you are up later, I ask that you not talk on the phone, video chat, or make too much noise. My cat, Julie, is sweet but independent and not a cuddle kitty. If you are here and I go away for a day, I would ask that you feed Julie and bring her in at night.

The SpaceYour upstairs bedroom has a garden view and private bathroom, double bed, new linen and towels, work desk alcove, air conditioning and fan, wifi, access to the dining and living room, and light use of the kitchen. No smoking please. Our home offices are upstairs but there are no other bedrooms and your room has private access to your adjoining bathroom. A tea service is next to the sink. We offer you a simple breakfast of coffee / tea, homemade granola, and yogurt . If you are here for a longer stay we provide the makings that you may may use according to your schedule. Our house is in a good neighborhood close to bus lines although like most people in Davis we bike everywhere. We have three bikes you may borrow that will get you to the UC Davis campus in 15 minutes or downtown in 20. Restaurants and shopping are 5 minutes away by bike or car. There are parks everywhere with one at each end of our cul de sac. We are a 20 minute drive to Sacramento and a 90 minute drive or Amtrak train ride to San Francisco. Davis has a great bus system and stops are 8 minutes away on foot. The airport is 30 minutes away by car or the Davis Airporter and a little more if you take an inexpensive bus. We understand that you are not coming to Davis in order to visit with us, (or Joon our cat who is not allowed in your room). We are friendly and welcoming but will stay out of your way and take our cues from you about how much interaction you want. Guest AccessWe give you a key on arrival so you may come and go as you please. You may store your luggage in our garage. We provide refrigerator space and a dry food storage drawer. Interaction with GuestsWe are both retired and generally available to answer questions or just for conversation. We are always interested in getting to know our guests but are also happy to leave you alone to do whatever it is you came to Davis to do. The NeighborhoodWe live on a cul de sac in an upper middle class neighborhood of Davis. None of our immediate neighbors have moved in the last 25 years so we know each other well. We watched each others children grow up here but now only the grandchildren are playing on the street. There are parks in a minute or two walk in all directions. There is a nice public pool with a fantastic water slide a short walk away. Getting AroundThe bus stop is an eight minute walk away. It runs very frequently when the University is in session and is free if you are here on UC business. However we never use it as it so easy to bike everywhere in Davis. Granted, I'm a fast rider, but I can get anywhere in town in 20 minutes. The best way to get here from the Sacramento airport is on the Davis Airporter. It takes about half an hour and costs around $20. There is a public bus from the airport for $1.50 but it lets off mile from our house. The San Francisco Airport (SFO) is about 2 hours drive away depending on traffic. The Airporter can bring you here for about $100. If you have time, manageable luggage, and are a bit adventurous a less expensive, (about $35), method is to take the BART subway train from SFO across to bay to the Richmond station, transfer to AMTRAK train towards Sacramento and get off at Davis. We will pick you up at the station. Other Things to NoteParking on the street is always available, free, and safe. We have a complete home office and can help with printing, faxing, and calling home. California is suffering a drought so we try to save water as much as we can.

We have a seasonal creek that runs through our property, which is a great place to lay in the hammock, read a book or just relax. We offer a quaint farm setting to escape the city lights! The night sky is often beaming with stars or the shining moon. You will have your own room and bathroom on the first floor of our house. If we have company over, we may ask to use the bathroom as its on the first floor of the house but it will be mostly just yours. Guest AccessCome slip away from everything and enjoy our country retreat. Take a swing in the hammock, have your morning coffee outside or take a walk around the country roads. Interaction with GuestsJust a heads up that our dogs will be very excited to say "hello" but are very sweet. They also often bark when people arrive but are very friendly pooches. We are both in and out of the house quite often. The NeighborhoodWe live in a quiet area of west rural Davis. You can bike into town on the bike path in 30 minutes or hop in your car and be in beautiful Davis in under 10 minutes. Just a few minutes away, we have a fabulous local country bar that serves up the coldest beers in town accompanied by tasty burgers, tacos and many other great bar food options.
