The SpaceThe Pip is a very different cottage, the best way to get an understanding of it is to look at the pictures. It is renovated in a very slow and detailed way using much recycled material along the way. It is steadily getting better. The location is set high on Wombat Hill, just below the Botanic Gardens. This is great, as we get elevation, tranquility and views. It does mean that you have a steep hill to walk if you are walking up from the main street. Daylesford is very up and down, good for fitness! The QS bed is a proper mattress, though firm. The two singles are foam based, I find them comfortable but if you require more softness it might not be for you. The base price is for two guests sharing the QS bed, if you wish to have separate beds there is an added charge of $30. Let me know in advance if you like me to make a second bed up please. Firewood and kindling provided, but not in summer. Guest AccessThe house is yours for the duration of your stay with the exception of the laundry. For a longer stay it may be accessible. Interaction with GuestsI show you around and leave! But I am only a phonecall away (I live down the road) if you need me for anything. The NeighborhoodDaylesford is totally gorgeous and the location of the Pip is great, just below the Botanic Gardens. You can walk down the hill to the main street but it is a steep walk home, uphill all the way! That is the price you pay for elevation and peace... The nearest coffee shop is Wombat Hill House in the Botanic Gardens, a couple of minutes behind the house. Main street is five minutes walk there, fifteen home (the hill!!!). Getting AroundRegional public transport is not good, but it is possible to get here by v-line. I can usually pick up at the bus stop, and there are taxis. Once here, it is very walkable. Daylesford is not very big. Let me know if you don't plan to come by car so I can arrange your pick up. Other Things to NoteTelevision sometimes has poor reception, plenty of DVDs and music instead. No wifi. Planning to cook? That's great, but bear in mind that the only oven is a woodfired one, so in summer there is no oven... There is a gas cooktop though. It is very country and low tech, but really charming.

The Space'Chivy Chase' is an original log miners cabin set in the beautiful Australian Bush. Sit back and listen to the kookaburras and if you are lucky you might spot the resident wombat in the backyard. The house consists of 2 bedrooms, 2 small sun-rooms, bathroom and the original cabin which has a further 2 beds, kitchenette and living area. There is also a small log cabin out-building called 'Dillie Dorrie' with a double bed which can be used in summer. The log cabin was built early last century and various rooms have been added over the years, hence its non-conventional layout. The 2nd bedroom has to be entered via the first. The house is full of rustic charm and it’s a wonderful place for getting back to nature. We have deliberately not put in a phone or internet connection, nor TV reception. However, there is a small TV with a selection of DVD's and lots of magazines to read. There is an open fire in the cabin and portable column heaters in the bedrooms. Cooking facilities include; very small oven and 2 burner stove, microwave, electric frying pan, slow cooker and sandwich maker. There is also an outdoor area and BBQ (in shed). It's great to sit out the back and admire the bush and wildlife. The property is within 10 minutes walk of the famous St Erth gardens and a great base to explore the surrounding areas including Trentham and Daylesford. There are lots of great bush walks nearby. There are plenty of doonas, blankets and pillows, but please bring your own sheets or sleeping bags, pillow cases, towels and tea towels. There is 1 queen and 3 single beds, plus if needed 2 single beds in the cabin. In summer the double bed in Dillie Dorrie can be used. We look forward to hearing from you.

The SpaceThe region: Daylesford is a very popular destination with visitors’ markets, galleries, lavender farms, wineries, olive farms, award winning restaurants and cafes, and a creative community of artists and musicians. La Laiterie: Just 4 minutes drive from the town centre on your own private 2 hectares of planted and open land, the property backs onto the Hepburn National Park where you can enjoy kilometres of walking tracks, including a pleasant 20 minute stroll to Sailors Falls. Most nights the cottage is visited by kangaroos, and the bird life is abundant. The accommodation: Originally a 1930's dairy, La Laiterie has undergone a major transformation. From the road you only see the old cattle run surrounded by trees, but on the property side you discover a french country-style cottage with an outlook over treed and open land towards the forest. A petanque piste has been built on the old cattle yard beside the cottage. The open plan living area features a well equipped galley-style kitchen and a cosy living and dining area. The bathroom is compact, but stylish and modern. French doors open onto a shady courtyard garden. The separate bedroom with king size bed also has french doors into the courtyard. A second courtyard with barbecue and a vine covered outdoor eating area provide many options for enjoying the outdoors. For winter comfort, walls and ceiling have thick insulation and the concrete floor creates a thermally efficient building. It is surprisingly cool in the summer and retains heat in the winter. Heating is supplied by thermal panels in the bedroom and living room, creating a warm environment on even the coldest day. For a cosy atmosphere you can also fire up the pot belly stove in the living area, which will be set ready for your stay. Guest AccessGuests will have the 5 acres, including picturesque spring fed dam and cottage gardens entirely to themselves. Upon exploration of the home you’ll discover countless vintage nick knacks and relics the hosts have collected over the years. Interaction with GuestsThe Miners Nest is managed by ellecor Holiday Home Management. *** In the event something is damaged, broken or not as you would expect please contact ellecor immediately via phone or email. We would rather know about it straight away so that we can attempt to rectify the problem, than read about it in a review after your departure *** Once a booking is confirmed guests will be emailed a house manual which outlines all of the information one might need in the lead up to and during a stay at the Miners Nest, including access information. The NeighborhoodHow the town of Barrys Reef got its name: Barry Francis, exiled from the nearby town of Blackwood in 1856 for a drunken brawl was searching for somewhere to live when he stumbled upon gold and set up camp. During the gold rush the town of 'Barry’s Reef' as it was later named, was so large it had 6 hotels! Now now the population of less than 100 locals seek solace in the peace and quiet of bordering Wombat State Forest. On your door step: Explore the tranquility of the Wombat State Forest and its six major river systems from the Miners Nest's back fence. Spanning 70,000 hectares this flora reserve has been set aside for recreation. Popular activities within the forest include camping, bushwalking, horse riding and trail bike riding. Within the forest: - Keep a keen eye out for evidence of the gold rush era and mining days - Explore the 'Domino Trail' walking track which follows the old railway line from the Trentham heritage listed railway station - Enjoy the Lerderderg Heritage River Walk as well as many other tracks and mapped trails run through the Forest. The Miners Nest is the perfect base for those interested in exploring the surrounding towns. 10 km's away is the historic town of TRENTHAM, with its broad, leafy lanes and unhurried ambience, the town exudes tranquillity and elegant charm and is an attraction all in its own right. Step off the Main Street and be dazzled by the wonders of the natural environment. Trentham's many attractions include: - Trentham falls, Victoria’s highest single drop waterfall – a 32-metre drop over basalt column - Eateries such as The Cosmopolitan Hotel, Annie Smithers' du Fermier, Red Beard Bakery, Coliban and the Trentham Collective - Galleries - Homewares, giftwares, clothing and novelty shops such as Two Fat Wombats - Nurseries - Trentham Golf Club is located within walking distance from the town centre. 30 km's away is the town of KYNETON which has a collection of some of the finest bluestone buildings outside of Bendigo and Ballarat. It has a unique character forged on the wealth of the goldrush and today is a rural hub with a creative and gastronomic focus on the diverse and evolving Piper Street precinct. Kyneton's many attractions include: - Luxurious boutiques up and down the main street - Eateries including the awarded Annie Smithers Bistro or Royal George Hotel - Kyneton Botanical Gardens which provide an ideal starting point for the Campaspe River Walk - Numerous family operated boutique wineries offering intimate cellar door and dining experiences in evocative pastoral country and granite strewn paddocks - Events such as the Kyneton Cup, Daffodil and Arts Festival and Kyneton Agricultural Show. Less than 40km from Barrys Reef is the DAYLESFORD and HEPBURN Spa region. The two spa towns represent the ultimate in indulgence and relaxation, an ideal setting for romantic getaways. If you're looking for a place to unwind, pamper yourself, indulge your senses, or simply enjoy an enticing menu of natural attractions this is a perfect day trip for you! Simply choose from one of the 72 health-giving mineral springs or over 30 spas, wellness retreats and healing centres in the area. Less than 30km's away is the pretty village of MACEDON, found at the base of Mount Macedon’s southern slopes. With streets softened by established trees and a quiet town centre Macedon has all of the facilities you would expect of a country village. A must when visiting Macedon is nearby Hanging Rock, the setting for Joan Lindsay's 1967 novel Picnic at Hanging Rock. The Rock is said to be the best example of a volcanic plug or mamelon in the world, which outside this district is only found in Norway and Sweden. Other towns in the region that are worthy of exploration include Gisborne, Lancesfield, Malmsbury, Riddells Creek, Romsey and Woodend. Getting AroundAs the house is located in a remote regional location bordering State Forest, public transport is unreliable. Taxis are available, however a private car is the best mode of transport. There is ample parking for up to 5 cars on the property. Other Things to Note- Check in is from 2pm. Access information and a house guide will be provided upon confirmation of your booking - Check out is before 10am on the day of departure - Paper, fire lighters and some kindling for the Coonara wood heater and fire pits are provided. Guests are asked to bring their own fire wood - Phone reception in the area is limited. Telstra offers good coverage however Optus/Vodafone and other carriers are not as reliable. A landline is available in the home but is for emergency use only - Solar panels, and LED lights throughout the home provide an added eco- element.

Both villas include a queen-size bed fitted with electric blanket, Minijumbuck underlay, premium quality doona, woollen blanket, quality linen and towels, bedside cabinets and lamps, wardrobe, ensuite bathroom with a capacious, nurturing free-standing bath, a kitchenette with sink, microwave and fridge, adjacent dining and sitting room space with television, books and magazines and a private outdoor balcony with stunning views of the lake. Each villa is heated and cooled with minimum effort reverse cycle wall-mounted airconditioners. Guest AccessOnce you've unwound you may be drawn down the peaceful, tree-lined country lane, through the park and over a quaint footbridge to what at first seems like a sleepy village. As you step into the main street you'll soon realise that the faded old shop fronts house some astonishing and diverse businesses. There are top class dining and coffee places, artisan produce, a farmers' market, galleries, boutique nurseries, antiques and unusual wares. Trentham is an old town with great historic character, but enough going on to satisfy the most discriminating visitor. Interaction with Guests'Lake View' villa is totally separate with its own private patio and entrance. Guests can interact with us as much or as little as they prefer. Our home is situated adjacent to the villas via a transition deck. The NeighborhoodTrentham lies at the heart of the Macedon Ranges, one of Victoria's most popular, vibrant and beautiful regional destinations and is only an hour's drive northwest from Melbourne airport. At 700 metres, it sits atop the Great Dividing Range, surrounded by the majestic trees of the Wombat State Forest. In winter it's often dusted by snow, while in summer it stays lush and green long after neighbouring regions dry out. It sits within the volcanic belt and the rich red soil combined with the highest rainfall in Victoria makes it a gardener's paradise. Getting AroundTrentham is approx. one hour's drive from the Melbourne Airport via the Calder Freeway. A regular hourly bus services Daylesford, Trentham and Woodend with a regular train service running between Woodend and Melbourne. Carparking is available at the front of Trentham Lake Villas Other Things to NoteTrentham isn't just about good food and boutique stores. It makes a great base for exploring neighbouring towns and attractions. Only short drives away are the hotspots of Daylesford, Kyneton and Woodend. Daylesford is home to the highest concentration of natural mineral springs in Australia and many visitors choose from an array of spa and wellbeing experiences to rejuvenate in these magical waters. Trentham is centrally located between the larger, historic regional centres of Ballarat and Bendigo. Smaller towns of Castlemaine, Maldon, Malmsbury and Glenlyon and well worth a visit.

It has wifi, flat screen TV and is fully equipped for all your needs. Just move in. Imagine yourself looking onto the Australian bush, watching the sun rise over the hill or set in the valley, throwing light on a sea of green gum trees. From every window there are stunning views. This space is mainly open plan, with a separate bedroom and bathroom. It's self contained and private on the second level of a country home. Lounge /kitchen/study in one space and bedroom/bathroom in separate room. Note: most people don't mind but the bedroom and bathroom are separated by a curtain and bamboo screen. My home is professionally cleaned. I am open to pets, let's discuss it first. As I am an Artist and meditator. it has a warm, rustic, clean, light open, eclectic feel. This is also where I come to write occassionally so it's very much a home. In front of the house, a walking track leads to Blackwood Mineral Springs, with water for you to taste from the earth. There are many different bush-walking trails, for you to explore. The outdoor area with BBQ looks out onto the Lerderderg River. The outdoor area is your private area but the general areas are shared with the other part of the house (a small cottage, tenanted). Blackwood is in the middle of nowhere but is the centre of everything: You will need a car to make these memorable short drives: 10 mins drive to Trentham with award winning café's, art galleries, gift shops and restaurants. 20 mins drive to Daylesford, the Spa Centre of Victoria. Experience Hepburn Bath House, The Chocolate Factory, The old railway and markets, award winning restaurants, wineries and more. 20 mins drive to Kyneton's restaurants and art galleries and antique stores 20 mins to Woodend, the gateway to the Macedon Ranges, and Hanging Rock Note: Nearest Railway is Ballan Station 15 mins drive. Or take a bus To Trentham, from Woodend Station. I will try to organise lifts if I can fit it in with work. Guest AccessWifi, Fully Furnished Kitchen and dining, Desk and desk chair Huge Lounge area and large flat screen tv and dvd. The bbq area outside with view of the river Interaction with GuestsI prefer email contact after the initial phone calls. But once you're in and everything is AOK, the place is yours to enjoy. My name is Annie-Genevieve but most people call me Genevieve. The NeighborhoodBlackwood is a one horse town with a 100 year old pub and a fabulous merchant/deli. The Blackwood Merchant has a gourmet wine and pizza night on Fridays. It has great wines for a reasonable price and uses local seasonal produce for it's homestyle meals. The Garden of St. Erth is a renowned garden which is part of the Diggers Club. A cafe is attached to it and opened on the weekends. The Blackwood Ridge Cafe and Nursery has great food Friday - Sun. The walking track to the mineral springs is from the Gold Mining days. 10 minutes drive away is Trentham with award winning cafe's, The Cosmopolitan Hotel with afternoon music, gift shops and galleries. I recommend the Radio Springs Hotel in Lyonville with live music, Thursday to Sunday. Daylesford is 20 minutes drive away and is the Spa Centre of Victoria with the famous Hepburn Spa House. Getting AroundThere nearest railway station is Ballan Station 15 minutes drive from Blackwood. There is a bus twice a day from Trentham that goes to Woodend Station. Other Things to Note80% of Victoria's natural mineral springs are in this region. Blackwood natural mineral springs are a best kept secret. The Garden of St. Erth Diggers Club holds workshops and has beautiful gardens and garden shop.
