You’ll feel the grandness of this house right when you first step inside and see the 11 foot ceilings, large oversized rooms with period details and character rarely seen anymore. With updated heating, cooling and appliances, the large house has over 3400 finished square feet, comfortably sleeping 10 people in 5 bedrooms with 2 full bathrooms. A bottle of wine and tasting room coupons await for you to start the fun right away.
The kitchen is fully equipped for preparing a gourmet meal, with room for several chefs to cook at once. The 10 foot farmhouse table is a great gathering place in the large dining room and comfortably seats 12 people. There is a propane Weber grill to cook out and Adirondack chairs for a picnic in the yard.
Treat yourself for a great night’s sleep with comfortable beds, pillows, and white linens, and take a relaxing soak in the clawfoot tub.
After a day of exploring and wine tasting, come back and settle in to watch a movie from our library on the theater sized 135” HD TV with Paradigm speakers, or relax in one of the leather club chairs in the adjacent living room and play music through the bluetooth speakers.
Oregon is a world-class wine destination and recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of the first planting of its pinot noir grapes. The house is perfectly positioned in the middle of the Willamette Valley for easy access to go wine tasting at one of its 400+ wineries in any direction from the house. Multi-million dollar tasting rooms with jaw-dropping views are only minutes away. We are glad to share our favorite wineries or help with suggestions for your trip, and we provide winery maps to all of our guests.
You can walk a few blocks to The Joel Palmer house, one of the best fine dining restaurants in the Willamette Valley. Their menu centers around mushrooms and truffles that they forage themselves. (URL HIDDEN) Or for an upscale tavern vibe, walk across the square to The Barlow Room, a great place to eat and drink also owned by the owners of the Joel Palmer house. For your morning breakfast, you only have to walk across the street to The Blockhouse Cafe in an immaculately restored 1886 church. This restaurant has a beautifully lit exterior which you can see from our house. For your sweet fix, Archie’s Ice Cream Shop is always busy and frequently has vintage cars on display. Seufert winery and tasting room is also located near the main town square.
Outside of Dayton within a 10 minute drive from the house are many restaurants in McMinnville, Newberg and Dundee. Some of our favorites include Red Hills Market, Nick’s Italian Cafe, Dundee Bistro, Storr’s BBQ, Thistle Restaurant and Bar, The Painted Lady, Babica Hen, The Blue Goat and Ruddick/Wood.
The Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum and water-park is a not to miss museum only a few miles from the house, which is home the Spruce Goose airplane and an IMAX theater. Portland and the Oregon coast are both only about an hour away.
Greg and Kathryn are long time residents of Portland. Greg, originally from Oxford, Mississippi, graduated from University of Mississippi and is a realtor with Think Real Estate. Kathryn is from Cleveland, Ohio, graduated from Northwest University and is Senior Event Coordinator Vibrant Table Catering & Events. Because of their mutual love of the Willamette Valley and their passion for Oregon pinot noir, they purchased the wine house in 2014 to have a second home in the area they love. They have been coming to Oregon wine country for years and still get excited each time they go, discovering a new winery or exploring backroads to find a new favorite restaurant. When not in wine country they love to travel and enjoy all things outdoors.
We feel incredibly fortunate to be the owners and caretakers of this beautiful historic property. The grand 5 bedroom home, built in 1885, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a beautiful example of Victorian style architecture. Known as the “Gabriel-Will house” on the historic register, this is a prominent house in Dayton overlooking the town square on a large 1/2 acre lot.
We plan on keeping the home in our family forever and are so excited to be able to share it with our guests. Perfect in size for large groups or with a smaller group, each couple can have their own floor. Guest AccessWe have a cruiser bike and a bocce set in the garage, a 135" HD projection tv home theater, coffee and popcorn for our guests to use. Play music via audiophile Bluetooth-enabled speakers in the dining room, and enjoy fresh, soft towels after you shower or relax in the soaking tub. Each room is unique and beds have new white high-end luxurious linens. Interaction with GuestsWe live in Portland and are always available by cell phone or email.
