Description
The Space

This fully furnished 2 bedroom with downstairs Studio has 3-remodeled bathrooms, a a queen bed in the first bedroom, 2 XL twin beds in the back bedroom, and an XL twin bed in the Studio downstairs and 2 pull out couches. The living room and kitchen has seating for 6 and everything you need to cook and serve your meal, including oil, flour, sugar, salt & pepper. For enjoying meals on the deck there is a picnic table and Weber barbecue and briquettes. Dayville has a population of about 170 with a school for 60 students in grades k-12, a mini-market, mercantile, gas station and a cafe. It is located 125 miles east of Bend, in the John Day valley, at the confluence of the main stem of the John Day River with the South Fork John Day River. From any direction it is a beautiful drive to Dayville with few cars on the road and majestic views of open landscape with rolling hills. From Portland you can come east on the gorge before heading south through grass lands and the Sheep Rock Unit of the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument; from Dayville you can return home through the Indian Reservation in Warm Springs and over Mount Hood. Dayville is a quiet place to get away to, a place to write a book or just enjoy a simpler life for awhile! NOTE: THERE IS NO CABLE TV IN DAYVILLE. If you want to watch movies you will need to bring your laptop, Roku, or X-Box to access Netflix or other streaming with the supplied Wi-Fi, HDMI cord and Flat Screen TV or rent DVDs at the mini market across the street. The nights are cold and the days are filled with dry blue skies perfect for hiking the Blue Basin or Black Canyon Trails, biking, going to the Visitor Center, or taking a drive through Picture Gorge, the Painted Hills and the Park. Any month you can tour the Park and Paleo Center or visit the nearby communities. In the summer months you can visit Kimberly Orchard, Ritter Hot Springs, historical museums, the Kum Wah Chung Museum and the Strawberry Wilderness Area. If you are planning to come back and bicycle in the area ask about my Bike Inn by donation for cyclists or check out my Sag Supported Bike Tours with Beds every night: Over The Hill Bike Tours - supporting small rural communities of Eastern Oregon Come, Enjoy and Play in Grant County!
