HEAT/COOL - WINTER - We have a propane fireplace on the main floor and space heaters in the winter. It is insulated so it can be chilly in the winter. SUMMER - We have 2 window A/C units. 1 on the 1st floor, 1 in the loft with fans. Wear cozy layers in the winter and cooler months be cottony in the summer. Please turn off the fireplace or a/c when you leave the Tree Palace to explore. TREE PALACE DETAILS: Portions of the interior are still under construction. We have siding to finish, drywall and a few outlets. It does not impact your comfort. Some exterior siding is still under construction and the main building is complete. We will add decks in the future so 2 doors should not be open as they are open to the 15' drop. GRILL: Below the Tree Palace is a gas grill you are welcome to use for cooking. Outdoor tools are located in the grill. CAMPFIRE: Below the Tree Palace there is a stone large fire ring area. You may bring wood or there is a $20 fee for wood provided. You may have a campfire and roast hot dogs or marshmallows, we provide roasting sticks. We ask that you be mindful of the size of the fire to be safe. OUTDOOR BATH: Hot and Cold Tubs. We have 2 primitive tin cattle tanks. You build a fire under one, and cool off in the other. Seasonal. ACCESS: You may unload your vehicle in the road just off the Tree House, then park in a parking lot a short distance away. MATERIALS: The Tree Palace is build with 2 x 4's, plywood and traditional lumber except for the details like the ridge pole, table, support posts and lover's nook in the loft that were made from pines taken down by the utility company. Knotty pine was reclaimed from one of the buildings on the property that is being taken down. Cedar interior siding in the loft makes a great aroma. CHILDREN: The space is built for adults and very mindful children over age 11. Because there are risks in being up high with steep stairs and doors that open to no deck, we ask that you educate your children and orient them to the space. Well behaved children honor and respect the magic of the Treehouse. UNFINISHED BUSINESS, THE FLOW: In the winter there is NO RUNNING WATER. The restrooms is the Johnny on the spot BELOW the tree house. No shower. You will need to bring your drinking water. There may be showers available in the main house depending on other guests and the weather (lines freeze when it's cold) for $5. Some elements still under construction, yet a great space to stay. RESTING & RELAXING: There is a double hammocks under the Tree Palace for hanging out and recharging your batteries. There is also a swing and a tire swing below as well. We have hammocks and swings here and there on the property. Make yourself at home. THE LAND: We are on 70 beautiful wooded acres. We have guests and events so there may be other people on the Land yet the Tree House area is private. Feel free to roam around and enjoy the Land. ROAM AROUND: Meander through 70 acres with trails, pavilions, creek, spring and 3 acre pond with paddle boat. Our swings are always a delight and plenty of petting zoo opportunities with chickens, ducks, turkeys, a goat and dogs. POND: We have a 3 acre pond with a little paddle boat that you may utilize. Please stay off the lake if you are not a good swimmer. The pond is stocked with catfish, bass and bluegill. You may feed the catfish and watch them play. Bring your fishing pole and gear. PAVILIONS: There is a pavilion a distance from the Tree Palace with a brick grille next to our spring and creek. There is also a pavilion that you may hike to at the top of the hill. Very quiet private spaces. Depending on if it's deer season we might have you wear orange! HIKING: There are a few trails, one by the pond and one that takes you to the hillside pavilion. We are on 70 acres. There is a hillside, valley with a creek and another hillside. If you are a woodsy wanderer and explorer, the Land is primarily fenced with barbed wire and has purple paint around the entire property since there is no hunting. Make note that our big dogs and our goat will likely accompany you on your stroll. They love company and are there as your guides and protectors. Please wear BUG SPRAY. Different times of the year we have ticks. QUIET TIMES: Laura Lynne has healing and Life Coaching sessions with clients and during those times she will be unavailable. We are usually a really quiet space and cannot control if the neighbor is having a target practice day. We live in the country. THE RIDE - The drive is a beautiful relaxing preparation for your time on the Land. We are about 7 miles to the closest gas station and Dollar Store, and about 15 miles to the closest town. PRIVACY - The property is totally private from the neighbors so wherever you are it's you and the frogs. When you come it's to get away from the neighbor's and to settle into the country sounds like the owls and whippoorwills, the crickets and the coyotes. Of course, our Anatolian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees dogs keep all the critters away so the chickens are safe. HAVE A CAR: You must have a vehicle to get to the Land. We are about an hour outside St. Louis, Missouri and about 1 1/2 hours from the airport. While on the property you may park your car on the drive below the Tree Palace. Parking is free. Walking the Land is your magical way around. THE TERRAIN & THE DARK: The space is bumpy and uneven and dark at night. You must bring a flashlight so you may move about safely. The stars are incredible in the country and on full moons she will light your way. WHAT TO BRING - Bringing supplies like you are primitive camping will help. Always have hiking shoes, plenty of water, snacks, suntan lotion, bug spray and changes of clothes. BUGS N THINGS: We are in the wilderness. This is where reality exists with bugs, snakes, ticks and butterfly's, like the real forest. So be alert as you are walking, and we shake out all the blankets before bed. There are times of the year wasps are active so we provide bug spray and a vacuum. Some times we avoid sleeping in the Lover's Nook. NO PETS: Our sweet dogs watch over our free range animals. They LOVE people and children and loath other animals. No pets on the property, even in your car, as they are predators to our pups. EVENTS - We have events on the Land and do our best to book the Tree Palace in quiet times. There may be other functions or workshops happening during your stay. We are a community, and ask that you honor and tune into the environment so that all feel like they have a space to let go and just be. PRIVATE MEMBERSHIP ASSOCIATION: We do not rent to the general public, we only rent in the private sector. As you choose to stay on the Magic Land, $15 of your rental is included to join our Private Membership Association. There is nothing more you need to do other than sign our Release Form upon arrival. Thank you so much. WE ARE HERE FOR YOU: If you have any questions or need assistance we are usually available on the Land. We will leave a note on the Lodge door if we will be gone. You may always reach us through cell phone. EVENTS: We have event like drum circles, potlucks, meditations and gatherings on some weekends. Some are open events and others are registered people here for a workshop. Just check in to see if it's something you may join. OUR WORLD: We spend time out on the Land, mowing and keeping up with the animals and for walks. Our caretaker is in and out with projects. The interaction is based on what blesses you as guests. Some people love to tuck away as a writer's retreat, others like community. Most find it so relaxing the rarely emerge from the Tree Palace. PRESENCE: We come and go so be sure if you have any questions you have access to text us. COACHING: As a life coach Laura Lynne works with individuals and couples on unblocking areas that seem stuck. It's easy to set up a session for $1 a minute. We are here to make your stay a transformative renewal. We love to let you get settled in then set up our time together. This gives you new tools for yourself or as a couple to practice during your relaxing and fun stay. If you wish further support Laura Lynne is available for phone or in person sessions after you leave your time on the Magic Land. This is the country! There are few neighbors and that is the joy of getting away. You get to relax and have your own space to breath and let go. During a few months of the year there is a distant house that is viewable and other than that the Land is totally private. We live in the Lodge or Main House on the property and are out an about on the Land doing chores and walking around. You must have a vehicle. We are 7 miles from the gas station with a some groceries, a Dollar store and the fire department near by. It is about 15 miles to the closest little town, and 25 miles to Wal-mart. We are about an hour outside of St. Louis. It's a beautiful relaxing country drive down Gravois/30 Highway. There are mostly farms and forest around the area and a few subdivisions. We are in a very private space 1/2 a mile up an old narrow bumpy blacktop drive. Farm animals dot the Land and are all free range. Roosters have a different internal clock than humans so enjoy the way too early wake up call and we invite you to head back to sleep. Guests who come love to hang out and stay on the land although there is a local little restaurant called The Finish Line in Lonedell, Mobile gas station called Wagner's and Dollar General all about 7 miles away. Some of the local hangouts still allow smoking indoors, so be prepared to throwback in time. About 20 miles away is the little town of St. Clair, Missouri and heading the other direction about 21 miles you find Cedar Hill. SOME FLOW: We have cold running water in the sink in the summer only, yeah. Our hot water pot let's you make tea and heat up dish water. The restroom is our Johnny on the spot below the Tree House. Showers may be available in the main house if the water lines are not frozen for $5 a day per person which includes towel, soap and shampoo. Primitive building under rehab so it's a 1960's look. SAFETY: We are in the woods where the wild things live. Be mindful of where you are walking and what you touch. Always have a flashlight and bring your bugspray. We recommend hiking or rubber boots. Sometimes it is muddy. The private space outside the Treehouse is just for you. We have a campfire ring and 2 old time tin tubs for the warmer months. 1 for building a fire under and climbing in and the other for cooling off. This is your space. The Port-a-potty below the treehouse is just for you. Guests love the hammocks under and around the Treehouse and lots of seating by the fire pit. Make yourself at home. We ask that you honor the Spirit of the Land and be mindful of your footprint and connection to the animals. Our home, just down the hill from the Treehouse, is our private family space. If you need anything we are here for you by phone, text or a knock on the door. We are on 70 acres of Magic Land. You may explore and enjoy our space. We have swings dotted around the Land and a paddle boat for the 3 acre pond with fish (yes, bring your pole). You can feel the Native American essence as you walk the Land. We have hiking trails, creek, 2 pavilions, a spring and plenty of woodsy woods. You are free to wonder the Land and know you may have our 2 loving farm dogs, 3 puppies, a goat and a goose following you. We have many old buildings that are ready to retire and be dismantled. We ask that you stay out of those spaces since the are daunting. We ask that you photograph all that fascinates you and leave nature and artifacts here for the next guests to enjoy. We like to think of ourselves as a Nature Preserve. We welcome you with joy and excitement. You will love the Magic Land. We also love when you tag us in your photos on Social Media.
