The SpaceThe sunrise and sunset water views from this light but cozy space are particularly dazzling in fall and winter--when guests seem just as thrilled to be here as those who come during the warmer months when they can sunbathe, paddle, or swim. Light Landing's shady lawn and bright open spaces; electric 'wood stove' indoors, bbq, and fire pit outdoors; huge screened porch; tree swings and double hammock; English 'tree gardens', kayaks, crabbing, and our relaxing pier afford a peaceful and inspirational setting any time of the year for your stay in the Washington Metro area. Many individuals or couples take a break from their business or sight-seeing for a restorative or romantic retreat; others come to Light Landing to complete writing, art, or other projects that require sustained focus or a secluded work environment. We've had countless happy couples for anniversaries, honeymoons, and even wedding nights, all of whom felt they had plenty of privacy and most of them have become 'regulars!' Some guests even utilize (for an extra charge) the owner's skilled support in writing, editing, and author coaching or The Work of Byron Katie to restore creativity or resolve stubborn life/health/work issues. THE ASCENDED SPACE ["The Flat"]: Light, modern, open studio loft with bay-view window seat, creek-view skylights. Completely private from our house downstairs, the Flat has its own separate entrance on the water side of the house. Luxurious marble bath with deep freestanding tub and large European shower. Leather couch, writing desk, well-appointed granite wet bar/kitchen with microwave and refrigerator/ freezer, bar- height table and other indoor/outdoor spaces for cooking, dining, work, play, roasting marshmallows, and--of course-- relaxing. Queen bed, Wireless internet with varied work spaces, Flat screen TV/DVD player, HDMI cable for Netflix, I-Pod doc. Includes use of pier, screened porch, fire pit, BBQ, kayaks, swings, entire country-like acreage. $118-149/night, $648-718/week, (check with owner for special rates for a month). These variable rates depend on the weekend/season. THE GET-AWAY [By Special Arrangement; Contact Owner]: Smaller adjoining waterfront Swedish/antique bedroom with double bed [cannot be rented separately; only as an accessory to Ascended Space to be used by part of YOUR party--i.e., someone like a friend, child, other couple who can share the upstairs living space and bath with you, but have separate bedrooms]. Adjoins the studio loft space (separated only by a stairway and bifold door). Use of all amenities listed above. $60/night, $300/week, $900/month for one extra person (these charges increase by 20% when a second person shares the 'Get-Away'). 3 BEDROOM/2 BATH WATERFRONT COTTAGE: If you find the dates you wanted are booked or you'd like more space or to bring a dog, please check out our NEW listing for the Cozy Chesapeake Waterfront Cottage next door!! (Hope you'll take a peek anyway, even if the dates aren't booked, and tell all your friends!) With so many return guests wanting to bring friends, family, or their dog, my friends and I have banded together to buy the cottage next door just for this purpose, and so far our guests have been just as thrilled with it and happy there as they have been in the Flat. See the entire description by clicking on my (Shawn's) profile. Scroll down the left side to "My Listings" and select Fun Chesapeake Waterfront Cottage. So far, our guests have been thrilled with us, and we've been thrilled with them! What a cool thing. Hope to see you soon! Guest AccessGuests have full access to the shady waterfront lawn at their accommodation, plus the kayaks (2 singles and 1 two-seater ocean),canoe, make-shift paddle board, pier (including crab pots, fishing, or swimming when season permits), swings, 1 acre of land, gas and charcoal grill, outdoor recliner chairs, as well as dining table and chairs, and screened porch associated with my house (The pier, swings, water craft, and screened porch are sometimes shared with guests at our Cottage next door. So far that has not been a problem). Also, by request, you can book a special session with me of "The Work," (of Byron Katie), an amazing and very simple form of self-inquiry for relieving stress and solving problems. Interaction with GuestsMy daughter and I tend to leave the waterfront for you and the Cottage guests. I am very available for recommendations, directions, or questions, but also leave you with all the privacy you want! (The Flat has a separate entrance, and seems to have had plenty of privacy even for our wedding night and honeymoon couples--who tend to come back for anniversaries, too!) The NeighborhoodSleepy little town with just enough services--VERY closeby (1 mile) despite our country-like ambiance. Some great spots for whatever you want to eat, many of them waterfront dining whether indoors or out, where you can also pick crabs--the local delicacy--or have crabcakes, or yummy Cream of Crab or Maryland Crab (vegetable) soup! Grocery store, pharmacy, fitness center, banks, consignment/antique stores all nearby or on the short scenic drives in the Guidebook. Annapolis is just a short trip and an amazing destination for a daytrip seeing its beautiful historic sights and neighborhoods or Amish market, or just a trip in for dinner--which we often do--to a waterfront downtown loaded with shops and restaurants or to catch a movie. Getting AroundNestled on a country-like acre in a surprisingly convenient corner of the Chesapeake Bay, this unique area is just over 20 minutes south of Annapolis and 45+ minutes from Wash DC, Alexandria VA, or Baltimore. Guests who have access to a car (or serious bike or shallow draft boat) can easily converge here and use it as a relaxing waterfront "home" while you're touring the area or even taking a "staycation" and commuting to work. After a quick trip from a number of cities or airports, all you need to do upon check-in is the following: * hang out and chat or snooze under the large shady trees, * swing or kayak or yoga to your heart's content, * play Frisbee, football, soccer w/ your dog, friends, or kids, * read or work on your tan as you gaze at the water, * cook out, cook in, or pick crabs at a table on the lawn, * savor the nearby waterfront dining, * cozy up, watch DVDs, or play games by a wood fire. Or just settle in to the pace of the birds and the bay breeze for a week or two. :-) Other Things to Note3 BEDROOM/2 BATH WATERFRONT COTTAGE: If you find the dates you wanted for the Flat are booked, please check out out NEW listing for the Cozy Chesapeake Waterfront Cottage next door!! See the entire description by clicking on my (Shawn's) profile and scroll down the left side to "My LIstings." There are 3 listings here at Light Landing: the 3 bedroom/2 bath Cottage, the single-room Carriage House, and the Flat. The 'Get-Away' bedroom just supplements the Flat if you need more sleeping spaces, and will never be rented to another party when you're here.) Once in a while I also rent out my entire house (it's listed on Airbnb as Shawn's Amazing Waterfront Digs) for a bigger party, or if there is a conflict on an important date, so feel free to ask about that also. Thanks!

The SpaceBright, cheerful cottage with fun amenities. Quiet beach community. Lots of porches and nooks. In ground fire pit--great for making s'mores! Post office is Tracys Landing, but the cottage is located in Fairhaven, Maryland, right on the bay (a private community between Deale and North Beach). I can see Herrington Harbor South (the site of many weddings) from our beach. No loud gatherings--we value our serenity here! Guest AccessPrivate community beach. Two kayaks (one double and one single) and a paddle boat for two. Interaction with GuestsI can meet you at the property or in the DC area to give you a key or leave one for you. The NeighborhoodMy neighbors are so nice. We value the special, quiet, private, serene enclave we have here. About half are year-round residents and half are summer people. Peaceful getaway one hour from DC. Closest stores/restaurants are a ten minute drive (or kayak) to either Deale or North Beach/Chesapeake Beach. Getting AroundCan kayak to a couple of restaurants. Ten minute drive (or less) to Deale, North Beach, Chesapeake Beach and Rosehaven. Nice for walking, though no sidewalks. Plenty of parking at my house (can fit three cars on oyster shell parking area in front of house and possibly more on grass on side yard). Other Things to NoteA short video of our neighborhood in the winter: (URL HIDDEN) Very close to Herrington Harbor, the site of many weddings. You can see it from our beach and it's a ten minute drive away.

The SpaceThis 3 bedroom/2 bath cottage is just the spot for a get-away with other couples or your entire family! Nestled on 2 country-like acres in a surprisingly convenient corner of the Chesapeake Bay, this unique area is just over 20 minutes south of Annapolis and 45 minutes from Wash DC, Alexandria VA, or Baltimore. Couples, groups, or families can easily converge here right after work on any given afternoon, and travelers can use it as a relaxing waterfront "home" while you're touring the area. After a quick trip from these cities or local airports, all you need to do upon check-in is the following: * hang out and chat or snooze under the large shady trees, * swing or kayak or yoga to your heart's content, * play Frisbee, football, soccer w/ your dog, friends, or kids, * read or work on your tan as you gaze at the water, * cook out, cook in, or pick crabs at a table on the lawn, * savor the nearby waterfront dining, * cozy up, watch DVDs, or play games by a wood fire. Or just settle in to the pace of the birds and the bay breeze for a week or two. :-) With a washer/dryer, 2-car garage, BBQ, and full galley kitchen, it's all right here--complete with view. Despite it's country-like location (no street lights--only stars!), all the services you need are within minutes, including 4 quiet little burbs (Deale, Galesville, Shadyside, Churchton) with *a great grocery store, *'famous' consignment shops, *fishing boat excursions, *fitness club or Bay history museums, *little walks, drives, and sights, AND *lots of waterfront and other dining options--whether you want a casual crab-picking feast with live music, carryout sushi/pizza, or a long romantic dinner. Nearby historic Annapolis is also full of great sights, shops, and restaurants, as well as movies and the mall (but people just don't seem to care as much about those things when they're here!) As your host, I have been sharing my lovely place next door for over 2 years with the greatest crew of happy Airbnb guests, who have been so much fun to host (See reviews below for "Lovely Chesapeake Waterfront Flat", since the cottage has only had a few!). Since many are return guests who would like to come back with their couple friends, their kids, or their dogs, I decided to jump on the opportunity to buy the cottage next door!!!. We set a nice low price for this solid little stucco cottage until folks get to know it's here, and because we are still wrapping up improvements. We plan to continue making it better and better over time! In terms of sleeping, it has a queen-sized bedroom that shares a charming tub/shower with the room that has a full sized bed. There is also another queen-sized bed in a room that is a bit more separate from the others, and has it's own small bath with shower only (with gorgeous new tile job and fixtures that we just finished in the renovation!). Finally, there is an L-shaped Ikea couch that easily becomes a queen-sized bed or huge chaise lounge, allowing the cottage to sleep a total of 8 (if the last 2 are OK to be in the living room). There is $30 charge for each person over 4. Bringing a dog incurs a basic charge of $40, plus $8 per dog per night, added after your basic reservation request (see House Rules about how to keep you dog safe and our house nice. There is a completely refundable $350 doggie deposit, which just means I don't want you to bring a dog you don't fully trust. So far, people haven't and get it all back! Just bring a check, and I tear it up when you leave. We can take care of the actual fees through a change request, or you can give me a separate check so it doesn't increase your Airbnb fee). Please feel free to contact us by putting in any date you see open (click on the tab above the large photo to see our calendar) and write to express your interest in coming to stay for a short get-away, or grab a range of dates as as you plan a longer stay. If it's booked and you are a small group, my Lovely Chesapeake Waterfront Flat next door is also amazing. We are happy answer any questions you may have, as we love sharing this amazing spot with our guests! Guest AccessWaterfront lawns with both sun and shade, pier, huge screened porch with gas and charcoal bbq at my house, gas bbq at the cottage, outdoor table and chairs, lounge chairs, 2 firepits, 2 single kayaks and one two-seater ocean kayak, canoe, 2 acres to play on or explore, nearby walks through woods or by Chesapeake Bay, country-like setting with plenty of waterfront dining, amenities, and sights nearby. Interaction with GuestsI interact with guests based on their needs. Most reviews say it was perfect--some wanted more privacy; others liked to hear about the history of the area or get to know us better--sometimes even have dinner together. Very individualized. The NeighborhoodWhile it is VERY country-like here, you are less than 4 minutes away from waterfront and other dining options pharmacy, grocery store, gym, gas stations, liquor stores, and the great consignment store our area is known for. Just over 20 minutes away is Annapolis, a wonderful small Capitol city whose lovely historic district is chock full of shop, restaurants, and pretty streets to walk. Washington DC, Baltimore, and Old Town Alexandria are all just 45 min to 1 hour away, and I am good at suggesting quick routes, things to do, and whatever you are looking for locally and in these great cities. Getting AroundThe Washington Area is served by trains, a really reasonable bus from NYC (4 hours), and 3 airports. The closest airports are Baltimore, Washington International (BWI) and Washinton Reagan (DCA). Dulles airport is do-able, but much farther. There is no real public transportation right here, so you would need a car or at least a boat! Questions welcome. Other Things to NoteThere are 3 listings on this 2-acre property at LIght Landing that also share the amenities, so far with no problems. There is also the Lovely Chesapeake Waterfront Flat next door, which is a separate 'romantic apartment' upstairs from my house. We have often hosted wedding night and honeymoon guests at our flat nearby, and now with the Cottage, we are beginning to host events or serve as a base for wedding parties, family reunions, or educational retreats. Extra accommodations are also possible for larger groups in the new for 2016 Carriage House Retreat or for those who wish to camp or sleep on screened porch, or rent my entire house as well as the cottage. Please note: there is a two night minimum stay for the Cottage. "CANCELLATION: Airbnb only gives me the choice of very strict and too lax cancellation policies, so this overrides the policy stated on the Airbnb site.: For a full refund, cancellation must be made 14 full days prior to listing's local check-in time (or 3:30 PM if not specified). If the guest cancels less than 14 days in advance, the first night is non-refundable but the remaining nights will be 50% refunded. No refund If the guests cancels less than 7 days in advance. A reservation is officially cancelled when the guests sends the owner a message via Airbnb message string stating they will not be coming.

The SpaceModern home on lovely, wooded private waterfront property. Great getaway location. Modern and updated bungalow, contemporary kitchen, front deck and 50' L-shaped pier, large hot tub, gas grill, my new kayaks (2, 1 tandem and 1 single), and CATV/hi speed wireless Internet Access. New washer/dryer available for use as of June, 2016. New Osprey roost installed by conservationists recently within 50' of pier on Broadwater Creek. I'm available for guests by phone or email. I provide information about use of the house, and where to go for shopping or dining in the local community. I live about 1 hour away, and can visit in case of emergency, though can respond to most questions by email or phone call. It is a quiet, private and relaxed neighborhood of locals and weekenders, with lovely waterfront views. Seafood is plentiful and affordable in local restaurants. (See some suggestions for local restaurants and grocery stores on the map below). Also, boating and kayaking are popular local activities, with several large marinas in Deale and Galesville nearby. You'll need a car to get to and from. But most local restaurants and grocery stores are a 5 minute drive away. And Galesville (5 min), Edgewater (15 min), Annapolis (1/2 hour) and Washington, D.C. (1 hour) are all easily within reach for excursions or day trips. I often travel to this place from Washington, D.C. and return to DC during a single day. It's no more than 1 hour from either Washington National Airport or BWI by car, and slightly more than 1 hour from Washington Dulles in Virginia. Easy to route the trip via GPS or by (website hidden) Maps in advance. Linens are provided for guests as are extra towels if needed in the bathroom closet. Hair dryer in vanity drawer. Gas grill available on driveway side of house for grilling; remember to close valve on propane tank when finished and return plastic cover over grill (grilling utensils are in kitchen drawer to right of the dishwasher). Appreciate watering of new plantings on the side of the house by the driveway and in the front yard, especially if it's dry and hot or there hasn't been a good, steady rain. Hose is on the side of the house below the kitchen window. No washer and dryer in the house, but the "Clean Scene," a coin-operated laundry, is on Deale Churchton Road to the north of intersection with Franklin Manor Road. My two new kayaks are available for use by the able-bodied and are found at the end of the driveway or in the rear of the property. Life jackets (and safety whistles) are required by law; mine are hanging in the closet in the mud room, and the paddles can be found there too. Please return kayaks where you found them perched on top of marine closet upside down (so it won't catch rainwater and debris) or perched against rear of house or shed bottom side up(NOT on grass or it will die). Feel free to take adirondack chairs on driveway (not the ones on the front deck) or the umbrella in the mud room (stand is on the front deck) to the pier, but please return them if there is a storm and when you leave...you'd be surprised how furnishings can be reclaimed by Mother Nature when left on the pier! Full use of home, kitchen, front deck and pier, gas grill, kayaks (2, including 1 tandem), and CATV/hi speed wireless Internet Access. I'm available for guests by phone or email. The SpaceA true retreat, our cottage offers you a comfortable place to enjoy the quiet, laid-back country lifestyle, with a serene view of the Chesapeake Bay. Accommodates 4 very comfortably: 2 in a King bed, 2 in a Queen bed; additionally, there is a sitting room with a twin day bed and twin window seat, and 3 twin beds in an open loft reached by library ladder! Guests should consider the convenience of one bathroom, and be aware that to enter the second bedroom, you pass through the first. Our family cottage was built in the 1920s, then redesigned in the 1980s, retaining at its heart the original brick fireplace and chimney built by our grandfather. Families from Washington, DC flocked to the Chesapeake Bay to escape the heat of the city, enjoy summers by the water and outdoors. Today, we enjoy all four seasons at the cottage; we hope you will, too. Guest AccessYou will have access to a gas grill; fireplace; all linens, including some beach towels; fully-equipped kitchen; completely furnished home, screened porch, and open deck. The washer/dryer are in a separate utility room. The locked pantry cabinet is for owners use only. Interaction with GuestsGuests will have the use of the cottage to themselves. We are not onsite, but live nearby. The NeighborhoodDifficult decisions ahead: will you take a walk along tranquil country roads or to the nearby marina? Enjoy a round of croquet or shuffleboard? Would you like to fish, float or just curl up with a stack of novels? Catching crabs from the pier may be done with lines and nets, but not pots. Arkhaven is a small, quiet neighborhood, with homes placed in a ring around a central grassy area which is a great spot for throwing a Frisbee, using the shuffleboard court, running around with your kids. Getting AroundA short drive or bike ride to Deale and North Beach, the cottage is approximately 35-40 minutes driving time to Annapolis, Washington DC, and Calvert Cliffs; 15 minutes to Herrington Harbor. Public transit is not readily available because of the rural setting, but a taxi could be called. Parking in the driveway is available for 3 cars only. Other Things to NoteThe closest grocery is about 20 minutes away, so it may be most convenient to bring your groceries with you before arrival. We stock some staples for your use: oil and vinegar; salt and pepper; coffee filters, sweetener and non-dairy creamer.

This sunny but cozy 3 bedroom/2 bath cottage is just the spot for a get-away on your own, with other couples/friends, or with big and small familie! Just steps from the water and nestled on a country-like acre in a surprisingly convenient corner of the Chesapeake Bay, this unique, quiet, scenic spot is just over 20 minutes south of Annapolis and 45 minutes from Wash DC, Alexandria VA, or Baltimore. Our Flat next door creates even more space if you need extra accommodations. Couples, groups, or families can easily converge here right after work on any given afternoon, and travelers can use it as a relaxing waterfront 'home' while you're touring the area. Nearby historic Annapolis is also full of great sights, shops, and restaurants, as well as movies and the mall (but people just don't seem to care as much about those things when they're here!) As your host, I have been sharing my lovely place next door for over 2 years with the greatest crew of happy guests (see reviews of Flat and Cottage), who have been so much fun to host (See reviews below for 'Lovely Chesapeake Waterfront Flat', since the cottage has only had a few!). Since many are return guests who would like to come back with their couple friends, their kids, or their dogs, I decided to jump on the opportunity to buy the cottage next door!!!. We set a nice low price for this solid little stucco cottage until folks get to know it's here, and because we will continue making it better and better over time! So far, everyone has LOVED it, and one couple is bringing their extended family back for Thanksgiving after their first visit less than one month earlier. This bright yet cozy cottage has a queen-sized bedroom that shares a charming tub/shower with the room that has a full sized bed. Then there is also another queen-sized bed in a room that is a bit more separate from the others, and has it's own small bath with shower only (with gorgeous new tile job and fixtures that we just finished in the renovation!). Finally, there is an L-shaped Ikea couch that easily becomes a queen-sized bed or huge chaise lounge, allowing the cottage to sleep a total of 8 (if the last 2 are OK to be in the living room). There is charge for each person over 4. Bringing a dog incurs a basic charge of, plus per dog per night, added after your basic reservation request (contact me or see House Rules about doggie deposit). Finally, if you need to add some space for more people, if the dates you want for the Cottage are booked, or if you're looking for a smaller, less expensive accommodation or romanitc get-away (often used as a honeymoon suite!), please check our other listing next door to the Cottage: Lovely Chesapeake Waterfront Flat Here you can also read more reviews of the Cottage and this Flat. Beds: 2 Queen Beds, 1 Double Bed, 1 Sofa Bed Payment Options: Mastercard, Visa Other Fees: Pet Fee $40 basic plus $8 per dog per night This sunny but cozy 3 bedroom/2 bath cottage is just the spot for a get-away on your own, with other couples/friends, or with big and small familie! The SpaceThis listing is the part of Light Landing that is the owners' private home. It is open at certain times of the year, particularly for weddings, commissioning week, when Shawn is away for extended periods, or other times when guests need added space to make their stay at The Cottage or The Flat work! It is the downstairs part of the main house at Light Landing (the first floor of the house with The Flat above as a completely separate apartment). It has gorgeous water views from sunrise to sunset, especially dazzling in fall and winter. It has a huge screened porch with a sleep sofa, a new open kitchen and great room, a small office and laundry room, as well as the two bedrooms and L-Shaped queen Ikea sleep sofa in the living room (see below for details about sleeping). Depending on the circumstances, certain accommodations may need to be made when other guests are sharing the property, and of course some of the owner's private possessions will be present in the house since it is only rented for limited times of the year. So far, folks have loved this space and were happy to agree to these special caveats! :-) Light Landing's shady lawn and bright open spaces; bbq, and firepit outdoors; huge screened porch; tree swings and double hammock; English 'tree gardens'; kayaks; crabbing; and our relaxing pier afford a peaceful and inspirational setting any time of the year for your stay in the Washington Metro area. Many individuals or couples take a break from their business or sight-seeing for a restorative or romantic retreat; others come to Light Landing to complete writing, art, or other projects that require sustained focus or a secluded work environment. We've had countless happy couples for anniversaries, honeymoons, and even wedding nights, all of whom felt they had plenty of privacy and most of them have become 'regulars!' THE HOUSE: You will love the views! Sun-drenched house with large living room and dining area, spacious kitchen, two bedrooms, and a full bath, with a screened-in porch and a pier for stargazing and bird watching. Quiet location, right on the water with creek and bay views. Large dining table for formal dining, fully-equipped kitchen and outdoor bbq grill. Sleeps 6: one double bed; one single bed with another single mattress on the floor if desired; one queen Ikea sleeper couch in the living room. (NOTE: Nightly rate is for 4 occupants. For additional occupants, there is a $20 per person fee per night.) Guest AccessGuests have access to the shady waterfront lawn at their accommodation, plus the kayaks (2 singles and 1 two-seater ocean), canoe, make-shift paddle board, pier (including crab pots, fishing, or swimming when season permits), swings, 2 acres of land, gas and charcoal grill, outdoor recliner chairs, as well as dining table and chairs, and screened porch associated with my house (The pier, swings, water craft, and screened porch are sometimes shared with guests at our Cottage next door. So far that has not been a problem). The NeighborhoodSleepy little town with just enough services--VERY close by (1 mile) despite our country-like ambiance. :-) Other Things to NoteMost of the photos shown here are of the grounds. We will be adding more interior shots soon, and we can send you photos in the meantime.

The SpaceThis stand-alone studio is just the spot for a quiet get-away for one or two people, or a great additional living space for family or friends of guests staying in the Cottage! After a quick trip from these cities or local airports, all you need to do upon check-in is the following: * settle in at the inviting writer's desk for some serious, or not so serious, word play, * hang out and chat or snooze under the large shady trees, * swing, nap in a hammock, or kayak or yoga to your heart's content, * read or work on your tan as you gaze at the water, * cook out or pick crabs at a table on the lawn, * savor the nearby waterfront dining, Despite it's country-like location (no street lights--only stars!), all the services you need are within minutes, including 4 quiet little burbs (Deale, Galesville, Shadyside, Churchton) with *a great grocery store, *'famous' consignment shops, *fishing boat excursions, *fitness club or Bay history museums, *little walks, drives, and sights, AND *lots of waterfront and other dining options--whether you want a casual crab-picking feast with live music, carryout sushi/pizza, or a long romantic dinner. Nearby historic Annapolis is also full of great sights, shops, and restaurants, as well as movies and the mall (but people just don't seem to care as much about those things when they're here!) As your host, I have been sharing my lovely place next door for over 5 years with the greatest crew of happy Airbnb guests, who have been so much fun to host. Since many are return guests who would like to come back with their couple friends, their kids, or their dogs, I decided to jump on the opportunity to buy the cottage next door, and the Carraige House is attached to the Cottage's separate garage!!! The Carriage House is the newest addition to the property. It sleeps two. It does not yet have its own bathroom, so guests will either use the downstairs bathroom in my house next door, or share with friends or family staying in the Cottage. It's a short trek to either location! While there is no running water yet in the Carriage House, I have added a water jug and a coffee/tea maker. There is also a microwave, a mini-fridge, access to a bbq grill, and cute dishes and silverware, so snacks and very simple meals are possible. QUIRKS TO NOTE! As we've said, there is no bathroom or running water, so you must be comfortable using my bathroom next door on the first floor. There is a heater and an indoor fireplace, as well as a nice wall air conditioner or quiet fan for when the weather gets warmer. NOTE: While folks love this sweet space (someone just told me it is their favorite of all the many Airbnbs they have stayed in!), this accommodation does not have direct views of the water. Instead, its many pretty new windows gaze onto a large field flanked by trees, and your area to hang out is more with my tree gardens and a great hammock and plenty of room for frisbee or hitting golf balls. There is access to the waterfront via the side yard next to my house and you are welcome to use my huge screened porch and visit the pier when it is free, as well as sharing the kayaks, canoe, etc with other guests. We have Internet on the property, but it does not yet extend inside the Carriage House, and there is no TV., so this space is for those who want a relatively unplugged stay! You can use your phone for an Internet hot spot or use your computer outside the Carriage House, on my porch, or in almost any other part of the property for reception. Questions? Please feel free to contact us by putting in any date you see open (click on the tab above the large photo to see our calendar) and write to express your interest in coming to stay for a short get-away, or grab a range of dates as you plan a longer stay. We are happy to answer any questions you may have, as we love sharing this amazing spot with our guests! Guest AccessCountry-like setting with tree gardens, as well as access to waterfront lawn with both sun and shade, huge screened porch with gas and charcoal bbq at my house, outdoor table and chairs, lounge chairs, 2 firepits, 2 acres to play on or explore, nearby walks through woods or by Chesapeake Bay, country-like setting with plenty of waterfront dining, amenities, and sights nearby. The closest airports are Baltimore, Washington International (BWI) and Washington Reagan (DCA). Dulles airport is do-able, but much farther. There is no real public transportation right here, so you would need a car or at least a boat! Questions welcome. Other Things to NoteThere are 3 listings on this 2-acre property at Light Landing that also share the amenities, so far with no problems. There is the Fun Chesapeake Waterfront Cottage and also the Lovely Chesapeake Waterfront Flat next door, which is a separate 'romantic apartment' upstairs from my house. We have often hosted wedding night and honeymoon guests at our flat nearby, and at the Cottage, we host events or serve as a base for wedding parties, family reunions, or educational retreats. Extra accommodations are also possible for larger groups for those who wish to camp or sleep on screened porch, or rent my entire house as well as the cottage. I request a 2-night minimum stay; however, I am happy to accommodate you for one night only. One-night stays incur an additional $30 cleaning fee. "CANCELLATION: Airbnb only gives me the choice of very strict and too lax cancellation policies, so this overrides the policy stated on the Airbnb site.: For a full refund, cancellation must be made 14 full days prior to listing's local check in time (or 3:00 PM if not specified).

This sunny but cozy 3 bedroom/2 bath cottage is just the spot for a get-away on your own, with other couples/friends, or with big and small families! Please feel free to contact us by putting in any date you see open (click on the tab above the large photo to see our calendar) and write to express your interest in coming to stay for a short get-away, or grab a range of dates as as you plan a longer stay. We are happy answer as many questions as you may have, since we love sharing this amazing spot with our guests!

'Fredelig sted'(peaceful place) is patterned after a Norwegian cottage with curved roof on the outside and knotty pine and birch wood inside. The bright panoramic view of the Chesapeake from the great room, master bedroom or deck elicits a relaxed, peaceful mood as soon as you arrive. Watch the seagulls or osprey play in the breeze or the dozens of sailboats in the distance while you are curled up on a deck chair in the shade of a huge oak tree. Bring a book or read one from the collection in the book case. When you are hungry, light the charcoal grill, or the oven, or travel a few minutes to Skipper's Pier or any of the fine restaurants along the river or the bay. Even more restaurants are in nearby Annapolis, just 30 minutes away. The children or adults can play croquet, badminton or ride the swing in the fenced back yard. Or they can wade or swim in the Bay right in front of the house. Annapolis has theaters, playhouse, symphony, pirate ship for kids, sight-seeing, crab cruises. Winery tours and tasting and nature trails are nearby including a stand of huge bald cypress trees with native birds. Pier and boat launch 5 minutes away.
