The SpaceThe farm has been in the family over four generations and is located in a quietly beautiful part of Central Victoria in the farming community of Waubra, 20 minutes from the exciting and historic city of Ballarat, the attractions of which may be seen if you use the internet to "Visit Ballarat". The old homestead has been restored and renovated in recent years and provides very comfortable accommodation. Gentle and more vigorous walks are available from the house and many other things to do may be seen in the Guidebook. Guest AccessWe have two queen-sized rooms of generous size. One bathroom is available exclusively for guests and it is our policy to welcome only one party at a time - either two or four adults. We also have a third smaller bedroom, the Blue Room, for up to two children if desired. A separate sitting room is available if required. The charge is $250 per room per night for dinner, bed and breakfast. Two children in the Blue Room are charged a reduced rate. Interaction with GuestsWhat we offer is a country house stay of short duration to those who would like to stay as guests in our home. We provide breakfast and dinner and can include lunch by arrangement. Guests may join in with us as much or as little as they like but essentially we see you as house guests. The NeighborhoodWe have some animals, including sheep and a (normally) friendly alpaca! What we offer would suit one or two couples, who may have up to two children, who would like good food in comfortable surroundings with quiet activities around the house or more active visits to many interesting places nearby, especially in Ballarat. Getting AroundFor those without a car, we are happy to collect guests from Ballarat Railway Station and return them there at the end of their stay. In such cases, we would also offer occasional transport to and from Ballarat to visit attractions. Other Things to NoteWe are 3 Kms from the local small township - a pleasant walk! We are also 3kms from the top of Mount Bolton - a rather more demanding walk! Whilst not specifically set up for this, we could supply stabling and pasture for horses following discussion.

The SpaceThe unit is set on the edge of two and a half acres of bush, separated from the main house. It opens out onto a large deck with bbq's and outdoor furniture which fronts another unit. There are two bbq's and plenty of space between the units. The birdlife is amazing and includes (from time to time) black cockatoos, rosellas, tawny frog-mouthed owls, and many others. We regularly see swamp wallabies and have even had a koala! The property was built by an artist with a lot of vision in the early 70's using slate, timber and brick. The main house is enormous and encloses a 15m x 13mt studio! Paths meander around and various sheds surround the rear of the unit which were used as kiln sheds. The unit has recently had a new bathroom. It is furnished and well-heated with a very cosy atmosphere. Unfortunately, we have not been able to get wi-fi in the space. You're welcome to wander through the acreage or sit and meditate, sing, laugh or cry if you need to. There's plenty of private space for contemplation. Guest AccessAccommodation is for two adults although there is capacity for someone to sleep in a quirky alcove space if booked ahead of time. Interaction with GuestsUnless you want to meet the artist, interaction is minimal as the unit is entirely separate to the main house. As well, we're often in and out a lot so you may not actually get to meet us. However, if you would like to view the artist's studio, which is adjacent to the main house, we can arrange it if you let me know beforehand. The NeighborhoodThe birds, the light through the trees, the serenity and the pure beauty of the area make it a stand-out environment to recharge, write or paint. It's easy to forget that the CBD of the city of Ballarat is only ten minutes away, depending on traffic. As well, the charming village of Buninyong is about 3 kilometres away or shorter if you take the bush stroll for a coffee or breakfast. We're very close to Federation Uni, IBM, and Sovereign Hill. Ballarat Birdworld is 300 metres away. Getting AroundThere is a bus from town which stops about 300 metres away but a car is recommended. Other Things to NoteThe unit and the gardens are evolving as time goes on and we do more landscaping and renovating. Once upon a time, the whole property had been landscaped and was very striking but sadly, had been let go before we owned it. We've been gradually landscaping and renovating the outside but it's a work in progress! The inside of the unit however, is quirky, arty and secluded with a newly renovated bathroom and great heating. Original paintings by the artist-owner, Grace Bailey, adorn the walls and will change periodically. Of course, all paintings are for sale!
