The SpaceThe renovated 1840's farmhouse is in a serene setting with acres of space to roam through the properties meadows and woods. In a serene setting, hidden away at the end of a dirt road, you will find yourself in splendid isolation. There are two ponds on the property; one for swimming and kayaking and one in front of the house. Sit on the front porch in the evening, overlooking the pond, and listen to the frogs and peepers. Or get up early to see the sunrise and watch the morning fog lift from the water. Cook in or eat out at any number of popular area restaurants. Explore the Catskills or just unwind in our beautiful home. Only 2 1/2 hours from the George Washington Bridge! Guest AccessGuests have full access to the property except for the barn and the rear, right upstairs bedroom. Interaction with GuestsI am available by phone and email if you need anything during your visit. Prior to arrival I will provide directions and information on the house and area to help you plan your trip. The property also has a (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) page that is updated with area information. LIKE (EMAIL HIDDEN) The NeighborhoodWhile the farm is nestled at the end of the road and you have all the privacy you desire, you are only minutes away from local towns where you can find restaurants, shopping, grocery stores and activities. Check out our recommendations in the Guidebook. Getting AroundTraveling in the country requires some getting used to! Should you decide to take a back road to see where it leads, make sure you keep a full tank of gas. In the summer and fall there are numerous roadside stands selling local produce, cheese, milk, meat and other goods so keep cash on you. Other Things to NotePlease be careful if you use the picnic area on the old stone foundation, just to the left of the house pond. The stones on the walkway can become loose and slippery. Don't walk on the foundation edge! The BBQ cannot be used on the porch - you'll burn the house down! At the swimming pond there is a large rock, make sure you sit, not stand on the rock. Algae can make the rock extremely slippery!

The SpaceWe look forward to welcoming you in person, however if that is not possible, we provide the key in a keybox attached to the house. The combination will be provided in our communications after you reserve. We literally live right around the corner and unless we are away, we are happy to come over if needed. Otherwise we are reachable by cell phone and/or email. Leave a voice mail on the cell if we don't pick up immediately. All calls returned as soon as possible! Guest AccessThe entire house and property are accessible to our guests. Interaction with GuestsYes, we are available to respond to any questions or needs! If we are away and unreachable, which is EXTREMELY RARE, we have our dependable back-up person, and that information will be provided to you. The NeighborhoodNest in the Catskills is located in a primarily rural area, but few animals since the nearby farm has sold its stock and is currently not in operation. But agricultural activities such as haying do take place. It is mostly a quiet and peaceful area. The Nest is situated on 8+ acres of meadow and woods, with stone walls lining one side of the property and of course, our pretty pond. There are woodchuck holes on the slope in front of the house, so use caution walking there! You may see deer, turkeys, water fowl and you will definitely hear the frogs in the pond! Neighbors are friendly! And, again, we live right nearby! Getting AroundYou definitely need a car to get around. We have an uphill driveway which will be maintained in the winter, and a (new) parking area at the top. Other Things to NoteWe leave the two amber-colored lights on outside at all times as it gets REALLY dark on moonless nights. There is a motion-activated spotlight on the driveway side of the house that should go on when you are either arriving or leaving after dark. Feel free to leave lights on inside the house if you are going to be out after dark. Any questions or things we haven't thought of, don't hesitate to contact us!
