The SpaceLove old farmhouses? We do too. This 150yr old Ramshackle is a mini-farm hidden in town. Watch the chickens, the wild deer and turkey in the back field, the stars at night... just steps away from Main Street. Guest AccessThe Ramshackle. Interaction with GuestsAs often as you wish. I'll be right down the road. The NeighborhoodIt's right in the center of Deltaville! Walk to the tennis courts, Cafe By The Bay, Hurds... Ride your bike to the FBYC if you are a member / racing there... Getting AroundBikes or cars or hoof it. Other Things to NoteAs this is an old, old house, we are gentle on her: wiring is old so don't push it - we generally let the breeze cool us unless it's super hot then run two AC's set to 78, which actually work well.

The SpaceThe property connected to the cottage is affectionately known as "Waveland." This property, which also includes a larger farmhouse and garden has been in our family for 108 years. It rests on a private point of land which looks out to the Chesapeake Bay (in front) and on Jackson Creek (to the side). The cottage has 3 bedrooms, 1 full bath, 1 half bath, a dining room a spacious living room, and a screened porch. Although there is a creek view from the house, the cottage is not riverfront, but just a short walk down the driveway there is a private dock and access to the water in the dock area. The property is semi private, backing up to a small marina neighborhood. Because this is a very old home, there are several quirks. We consider these things to add to the house's charm, but things you, as a guest, should know none the less. Things to note: -The house's water supply is drawn from a well on the property. The water is fine for showering but has a strong iron content and slight sulfur smell, making it (safe, but) unsuitable for drinking. The water also leaves iron marks on the tub, toilets, and sinks as well as tarnishing the metal fixtures. The house is fully cleaned before all guests arrive, but although they are clean, these fixtures may look stained. -There is no Wi-Fi or cable TV for the house. There is a coffee shop 1/2 mile away with Wi-Fi as well as the Middlesex County Library. -There is no washing machine, dryer, or dishwasher. There is a TV with DVD player, a corn hole set, lots of games, and a hammock for lounging in the yard. There is a charcoal grill. We provide fresh linens for each bedroom, and towels for the bathrooms, but we ask that you bring your own towels for swimming and sunbathing. After your stay please strip the beds you have used and leave the linens on top to be laundered. Guest AccessGuests will have access to the house and the grounds surrounding. There is a private dock with deep water and a small beach area that is the best spot on the property to swim. There are oysters and other potentially sharp objects in the water, so footwear is strongly encouraged for safety. There is a shower located on the side of the house for rinsing off from the river or for the convenience of bathing pets. Interaction with GuestsBecause this property is a family shared home it is not owner-occupied. Checkin and checkout can be arranged through the Airbnb site, and any direct interaction with guests will be at the guest's request. The NeighborhoodOur house is located within a semi-private community. We have a great relationship with our neighbors and there is a mutual respect between our guests and the residents of the neighborhood. Please be mindful of their property when entering and leaving our driveway. The Little house is pet friendly. There are neighborhood pets who are well behaved but may come to visit. Getting AroundDeltaville is a small town and has no public transportation. There are several walkable places to visit and things to do but a car is a must for traveling to and from the house. Nearby points of interest: The Deltaville Maritime Museum and nature trail Deltaville Marina Fishing Bay Yacht Club Norview Marina Public boat ramp ($10 fee) Other Things to NoteIf you have any problems at all (or just feel like exploring) our family is usually staying in the other house on the property. Please do not hesitate to introduce yourself and we are happy to answer any questions or assist you however we can. There is a map in the welcome book showing the other areas on the property and the location of the "big house". Please use the Airbnb message system if you need to reach us. You can also send a text for a quick reply.

Welcome to White Stone in the beautiful Northern Neck of Virginia! Our house is located on Windmill Point, at the mouth of the Rappahanock River on its northern bank, where it meets the Chesapeake Bay. We know you will enjoy your family vacation on the banks of the Rappahanock River. Here you will find a stay that is very private 2.5 acres of land, with 250 feet of water frontage, 150 feet of sandy beach, a dock for fishing and jumping, a half basketball court, corn-toss, fire pit, and plenty of room to play. We can sleep 10, we have three bedrooms (two with queen size beds, and a bunk room with two bunkbeds, and a futon. Two bathrooms, and a spacious outdoor shower. From our beach, the river is five miles wide, directly across from Deltaville, and a quarter mile northwest of the Chesapeake. Our 2.5 acres of land boasts 250 feet of shoreline, a private sandy beach, a dock, a waverunner lift, a basketball court, and enough room to toss around a football, frisbee, baseball, lacrosse ball, or anything else that flies. We have two sea kayaks available for your use, as well as a paddle board, and you are welcome to bring your own sunfish, waverunner, windsurfer, or other beach toys that will enhance your vacation. But don’t worry about bringing your own beach chairs or beach umbrella – we got that covered! No slimy sand on our beach – at low tide with the slow sloping beach an adult can walk 100 plus yards off the shore and still be standing. Bring your own waverunner and put it on our lift to use at your leisure without having to tow in and out with each use. We often have schools of dolphins in the river, particularly during the late summer. Tall pines on the front yard (river facing) provide excellent shade in the afternoon if you need a break from the sunny beach to play a game of corn toss, or to set up the fire for the evening in the fire pit to sample some smores with the kids. Catch some fish off of the dock, or, if you are as bad as we are at fishing, drive in the morning to the commercial fisherman up the road to get some flounder fresh from his morning catch. Try throwing some bait in our crab trap (chicken necks often work) and with some luck you may be eating blue crabs for dinner. Enjoy your morning coffee on the outdoor patio, play card games on the front screen porch, take an overexposed picture of the spectacular sunsets, or just kick back with a cold refreshing drink and let the summer day just stretch on! Walk to the Pelican Bar/Restaurant on the water to catch a live band on a Saturday night, head up the road to Irvington to catch breakfast at the Tide’s Inn, from there sample some local wine and oysters at the Dog and Oyster, head into Kilmarnock for some antique and specialty shops. Hit the links at either Golden Eagle or King Carter golf course, each about 10 country miles away (if you are used to waiting to take a shot at a crowded city course, prepare for having the course to yourself). Take a day trip to Busch Gardens, historic Williamsburg, Yorktown and Jamestown, Richmond (each between 1 and 1.5 hours), Virginia Beach (2 hours), or even Washington D.C. (2.75 hours). We know you will have a fantastic vacation at an affordable price.

This is a second floor two bedroom condo at Windmill Point Marina. The view from the balcony looks out to the Chesapeake Bay and the Rappahannock River and across the river to Stingray Point (where Capt John Smith was stung by a stingray). The master bedroom looks out at the water, and connects with the balcony. There is a walkin closet and bathroom. The second bedroom has two single beds and a bathroom in the hall. We spend hours sitting in the rocking chairs, reading, and watching all the wildlife - mostly birds, but last year there were dolphins. During cold weather, there is a gas fireplace. Bring your boat, and tie up at Windmill Point Marina. If you don't have a boat, then there are charters available in the area. Keywords: condo
