The SpaceThis is the real wilderness Alaska experience and only those that don't mind this type of experience should attempt it. No running water or electricity. A wood stove provides the heat. Guest AccessYou can fly round trip from Talkeetna (flight price separate) or walk 5 miles on our rustic trail through the brush and lakes to the cabin. The walk in is spectacular in scenery and worth the trip. The lake has canoes and fishing is available.
This is available June-Oct only. Interaction with GuestsThis is a guided experience for hikes to the high country or you can enjoy the lake with canoes and catch some dinner. Your stamina is all that might limit you. I bring a gun for bear protection and safety. You have your own cabin for privacy. I provide the meals and sleeping bags.
Each day will include a guided hike. The NeighborhoodThe place is wild as it gets so be ready to see animals and still have the protection of a cabin. The cabin sits next to Denali National Park and is for those wanting extreme Alaska adventure. Not for those that want the five star hotel experience.
You can see Alaska by looking out a window of a car, bus, train or plane or you can walk through it and experience it. Getting AroundThe only transportation is if you want to hire a float plane from Talkeetna for a round trip or a one way flight to enjoy a scenic flight and walk out one way. But the five mile walk in and out is scenic and through the real Alaska country.
It is not a hard trail and takes usually 3-4 hours to walk in or out.
The high country is a a short walk away and exploring becomes easy as no brush and the caribou trails make for easy walking. Other Things to NoteWe can day hike into the high country to see animals as caribou, moose, and bears. Or you can hang out at the lake to canoe or catch dinner.
