Shawnee Suite guests have a private outdoor yard with gas grill and outdoor seating with views of our pastures and horses. We like to be available to greet our guests, but on very night late arrivals that may not be possible. Please communicate this when making your reservation. We are trying very hard NOT to add a cleaning fee onto our price, keeping our units affordable for everyone. 99% of our guests leave the cottage in excellent condition. To this end, please pick up after yourselves, clean up any excessive dog hair, rinse your dishes and we will pick them up to run them through our dishwasher, place vinyl shower curtains inside the tub to prevent excess water from getting outside the tub area to prevent slipping accidents and damage to our property. As I said 99% do all this without being asked. Help us to keep our costs affordable for our guests. On that note, while we do not have a cleaning fee, we do have a housekeeper Heidi who makes sure everything is just so. So if you feel she has done a good job and if you are feeling kind and generous, when leaving please consider a gratuity for Heidi. While we do have HD flat screen televisions for our guests, we only have local television stations, no cable channels, however our televisions are pre-programmed with Netflix, Amazon. We MUST charge an 8% Lodging Tax required by State of Maine which is not included in the price and must be paid at time of arrival via cash or check. We apologize for this but there is no way for us to add it on to our rates as a "tax". If we increase the rate to cover this it means a higher fee for both our guests and ourselves. We take your safety (and ours) seriously. For this reason we make sure we have WORKING smoke and CO detectors and fire extinguishers in all of our rentals. We do our very best to accommodate our guests needs when it comes to check-in/check-out times. As long as we do not have an overlapping guest we will do our best to accommodate you with early check-in or late check-out. Please communicate your needs beforehand. There is no charge for this service but we do need advance notice to make sure we will be available as needed. As a dog lover too I do not travel anywhere without "Cowboy" and his comfort is as important as my own, so I understand how important it is to find a place that really is pet friendly. We offer daily housekeeping upon request - no extra charge, but please let us know as some guests do not like the intrusion in to their space and we respect that. Please communicate this when making your reservation. We are trying very hard NOT to add a cleaning fee onto our price, keeping our units affordable for everyone. 99% of our guests leave the cottage in excellent condition. Don't forget that our Stage Stop Ice Cream is open from spring to fall, serving ice cream treats, Authentic Fresh Maine Lobster Rolls, Pizza, Hot Dogs, Cold Beverages, etc. Guest AccessThe Shawnee Suite while structurally is part of the main house is a totally private entity with your own entrance on the other side of the building. We rarely see our guests unless they seek us out. Shawnee Suite guests do not share any common elements with our main house - privacy is all yours with and outdoor grilling and seating area. From the Shawnee Suite you will view our pastures and gardens. Shawnee Suite guests also have their own private parking area. Interaction with GuestsUnless you want to see us - you won't as we value and respect your privacy! The NeighborhoodRural area but grocery shopping, gas stations and such only about 5 miles away. Getting AroundWe are not close to any forms of public transportation so you would definitely need a car to get around. Other Things to NoteWe have reduced our rates for the late fall and winter ski season at Shawnee Peak in Bridgton Maine (only 5 miles away) - Book early so you don't miss out! Please note we do not charge a cleaning fee, but of late we have had quite a few guests leave behind quite a mess to clean up. While we expect to do the normal cleaning, i.e., vacuum, laundry, general clean up, etc, it is not our responsibility to clean up after you. If you spill things all over the place and make a mess while cooking, etc. it is your responsibility to clean it up - we are not expected to "clean up after you". This has not happened before the last month or so and are a little baffled why is appears to the norm as of late. Please be courteous and pick up after yourselves. Don't leave garbage on our kitchen counters, etc. For this reason we have had to add a fee for additional guests over 2. If you are one of our regulars and have a positive booking history with us, please contact me prior to booking via Airbnb and I will eliminate the extra guest fee. It is very disheartening to enter the unit after a guest departs and see a total mess! While we do not have cable TV, we do have local channels available but also provide Netflix and Amazon! No need to have your own accounts on any of these - we have that all taken care of for you! Guests are responsible for any major damage that they cause during their stay- this does not include minor things like broken dishes, burned pans, those things that occur in everyday life but things like leaving water on and flooding rooms, fires, major damages, etc are the responsibility of the guest. If you have seen the one bad review I gave a guest and the one he gave me in return, please note I never, ever give a guest a bad review but this guest caused a lot of damage and then refused to leave. I felt it was my responsibility to warn others renting to this guest as I was his first and hopefully only rental experience with Airbnb. I really hated to do it - but no one should have had the damages we did.

The Bungalow Cottage has a full size refrigerator, microwave, dishware, glassware and some cookware. As mentioned above the private deck and yard has a gas grill with a side burner. Interaction with GuestsWe like to be available to greet our guests, but on very night late arrivals that may not be possible. We are available at anytime during our guests stay for questions, issues or anything at all - even to find the best restaurant around - all you have to do is ask. We are generally on site but if not I am only a phone call or text away. If you want absolute privacy that's OK too. We offer daily housekeeping upon request - no extra charge, but please let us know as some guests do not like the intrusion in to their space and we respect that. Please communicate this when making your reservation. If you wish to have daily housekeeping we can provide that too on request - all you have to do is let us know. Heidi is also more than likely the person who will be serving you your ice cream treats as well. The NeighborhoodDenmark Maine is a very rural area and our property is no exception. We are only 5.4 mile away from Shawnee Peak for all you skiers. The Denmark Stage Stop House is only one mile outside of Bridgton Maine and 5 miles from grocery stores, etc. found in Bridgton Maine. We are in the heart of Maine's Lake Region, surrounded by mountains, lakes, which makes us home to many prestigious summer camps. Portland Maine - 1.25 hours Boston, MA - 2.50 hours North Conway, NH - 25 minutes Bridgton Maine - 5 miles Shawnee Peak Ski And Snowboard Resort - 5 miles Best of all during the warmer weather months, spring through fall, our Stage Stop Ice Cream Stand is open offering ice cream treats along with Authentic Maine Fresh Lobster Rolls (made with fresh herbs from our gardens), pizza, hot dogs, cold beverages and more. Getting AroundGetting around in Denmark, ME generally requires a vehicle as there are no restaurants, (except our Stage Stop Ice Cream, which is open seasonally during the warm weather months) or stores within walking distance, which is part of the charm here. If you don't have a car when you arrive in New England you will most definitely need to rent one. Free Parking on site for guests Other Things to NoteWe have reduced our rates for the late fall and winter ski season at Shawnee Peak in Bridgton Maine (only 5 miles away) - Book early so you don't miss out! HOUSE RULE - clean up after yourselves and leave our place as you would want someone to leave yours. Two night minimum stay required. We do our best to employ green practices whenever possible. We use environmentally safe lighting throughout our properties, our properties are insulated to a very high standard reducing our use of fossil fuels, we use environmentally friendly cleaning products whenever possible and employ recycling. While we do have HD flat screen televisions for our guests, we only have local television stations, no cable channels, however our televisions are pre-programmed with Netflix, Amazon. We MUST charge an 9% Lodging Tax required by State of Maine which is not included in the price and must be paid at time of arrival via cash or check. We are also available to walk your dog for you, if you do leave your dog crated in your room, as long as the dog is friendly and allows us to leash your dog. There is no charge for this service but we do need advance notice to make sure we will be available as needed. As a dog lover too I do not travel anywhere without "Cowboy" and his comfort is as important as my own, so I understand how important it is to find a place that really is pet friendly. Although there is not a true "kitchen" in the Bungalow Cottage there is an outdoor gas grill with single side burner. Inside you have a microwave, coffee maker (we supply the coffee - regular & decaf, tea and hot chocolate, toaster, single burner induction cooker and a waffle pancake/waffle maker (we supply the mix for you). Don't forget that our Stage Stop Ice Cream is open from spring to fall, serving ice cream treats and all our guests receive a complimentary ice cream each day of your stay for all members in your party.

Guest Accessrelax on the dock and feel free to paddle around in our canoe. We also have an outdoor fire pit to roast marsh mellows and just kick back. Interaction with GuestsWe will be readily available to answer any questions via phone or email The NeighborhoodThe cabin is located on moose pond, which is actually an 11 mile long lake. It's shaped like an hour glass and we are in the narrow section. It's really serene. Beautiful wildlife (bald eagles, great blue herons, loons, wild turkeys, and if your lucky maybe a moose). With that said, during mid day on weekends during the summer there can be a decent amount of boat traffic however we are in a slow no wake zone so its really pleasing and friendly. There's hiking and snowmobile trails a 1/2 mile away and we would be more then happy to supply you with as much info and details about the trails etc. Shawnee Peak ski area is 3 miles down the road. It's a small mountain but has a great variety of terrain and a restaurant/pub overlooking the slopes. Night skiing is open until 10pm on Saturdays. The closest variety store is 4 miles away in Denmark. It's a quirky general store that has all the basic necessities including movie rentals and a deli. They actually make great pizza as well. You wouldn't expect it but seriously, the pizza is great. Also 9 miles away is Bridgton center. There's a variety of restaurants ranging from Thai, Italian, gastropub, and pizza. There's two grocery stores, a driving range, a golf course, breakfast cafe, great antique shops, sports bar, a movie theatre, as well as a drive in theatre that is open seasonly. In the summer of 1964 my father had a business trip he needed to take to Portland Maine, and he wanted to take the family. While researching my mother’s Maine vacationland travel books from where she used to work at the Newark News (New Jersey), my brother Robbie-then 6-7 years old, pointed to a picture of a man with a beard and a pipe, standing on the steps of a log cabin, and excitedly said" Mom I want to stay there. It looks like Abe Lincoln could have lived there". So we went on an adventure and traveled north from Delaware to the beautiful State of Maine. There began our love affair with The Sebago Lake region, the extremely clean see to the bottom lake water, and the wonderful people who live and vacation there. Our Dad loved it so much that in the fall of 1971 he and mom purchased a cabin 3/4 done on the shores of Moose Pond Denmark, Maine. Forward another 21-22 years later, and my brother and I purchased the cabin right next door to them. The Lake front cabin, which can be your vacation home, was our parents, and it has a lot of happy memories. Rob, my brother, lives in the cabin next door year-round, and is the caretaker for any help needed during your stay. The area offers a lot of sporting activities, all year long. Winter brings snow-skiing, snow-boarding, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, ice skating, and ice fishing. Summer-motor boating, water-skiing, tubing, jet-skiing. You can use canoes, kayaks, row-boats, sail-boats, and Pontoon (Float Boats). Not allowed are Cigarette Boats, and larger yachting type of boats. Additionally, close by you will find golf courses, miniature golf, movie theaters, and an old fashioned drive-in movie theater along with Hiking, Biking, Antiquing and so much more. Our famous fall season brings the Fryeburg Fair, the first week of October and the spectacular Fall Foliage, for “Leaf Peepers” of all ages. All year long there are winter, summer, spring, and fall activities, which are listed on the various town websites, and our local newspaper The Bridgton News is a wealth of information for festivals and fairs which are abundant in the summer and fall. This is a beautiful area to get away from it all, and regroup. My Dad called this cabin his favorite place and his Sanctuary. My brother and I invite you to come and stay enjoy, and unwind from the pressures of life. Explore all that the Maine’s Lake Region has to offer. We are approximately 10-15 minutes to Shawnee Peak. 20 minutes to Bridgton Maine and Fryeburg Maine. 30 minutes to Naples Maine. It is only a short distance to North Conway New Hampshire, the White Mountains for more activities, ski areas, hiking, biking, golfing, snowmobile trails and of course tax free shopping at all the many different Outlet Stores, including LL Bean. Please feel free to contact us for anymore questions, and or to book the cabin.
