The Space*If this private room is booked, feel free to stay in our dormitory (usually stays empty), Nicaragua Farmstay Finca Joco Mico, located near the private room. The casita (bungalow) is clean and basic. It has electricity, one double bed and one single bed, tile floors, a table, and chairs. Fresh air flows through the room. Outside is a covered ramada with hammocks overlooking the countryside and ocean. You have access to a secluded waterfall and the local community. You can relax or be active in our humble Nicaraguan village. Do as much or as little as you like! NOTE! We do our best to respond immediately to your reservation request within the required 24 hours; however, we are not connected to the Internet everyday on the farm. We appreciate your patience and look forward to your visit! Your stay includes morning coffee/tea and seasonal fruit in the morning. The waterfall is about 10 min. away in the forest. Initial guided tour of the waterfall and village is $4. You may go down as much as you like thereafter. Daily meal plan (full breakfast, lunch, and dinner): $12 We use fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs from our farm when they're in season. Breakfast: $3 traditional Nicaraguan breakfast Lunch: $4 usually vegetarian Dinner: $5 non-vegetarian includes either fresh fish, chicken, or beef. If you plan to use the Internet regularly on the farm, we recommend that guests bring an unlocked smartphone and buy a local prepaid SIM card (about $2) with a prepaid data package. The women wash clothes down at the river and guests are welcome to join in to wash their clothes. Getting AroundThere are buses that run 4 times a day between the farm and Diriamba. The village is easily accessible on foot. We are located between Managua and Granada off the Panamerican Highway. From the Managua airport, you can take a taxi to Diriamba for about $50-$60. You will get detailed directions to the farm from Diriamba after you book. Other Things to NoteA headlamp, earplugs, and some snacks are good to bring along. The NeighborhoodThe house is located in a gated community and guarded neighbourhood, just 5 minutes from Diriamba Downtown, 8 minutes from the cities of Jinotepe and San Marcos, 25 minutes from the beaches and 35 minutes from the cities of Granada and Masaya. Close to the Airport of Managua. The city of Diriamba happens to be one of the most interesting destinations of Nicaragua, whether it is for its charming neocolonial urban center or its colorful religious festivities in January. These celebrations are a good time to see some of the most beautiful traditional dances of the country: El Güegüense (also known as 'Macho Ratón'), Toro Huaco, El Viejo y La Vieja, Las Inditas and El Gigante. Diriamba also has beautiful beaches and its rural area features coffee plantations, nice waterfalls and many nature reserves. Getting AroundBy Car: Driving is the best way getting around Diriamba and the rest of Nicaragua. Traffic in Diriamba is pretty light, and the roads in the city center are in good condition. Renting a car in Nicaragua is relatively inexpensive. By Rickshaws: Auto rickshaws are a common means of cheap public transportation in many cities in Diriamba. Also known as a three-wheeler, "caponeras", "motitos" and mototaxis. There are many tourist attractions in around Diriamba. So many in fact, that travelers will either have to spend a lot of time to see them all or will have to select a few. In order to make this decision a little easier on you I have selected some of the most precious tourist attractions close to this house. (Please see the map at the bottom of this webpage). PLACES TO VISIT IN DIRIAMBA - St. Sebastian's Basilica The Basilica of San Sebastian is one of the most beautiful church in Nicaragua. The construction of the Basilica of San Sebastian started in 1891 and ended 48 years later in 1938. It was raised to a minor basilica in 1962. - The Clock Tower The Clock Tower of Diriamba is the Nicaragua's most famous clock. The Clock is a unique reference point for the inhabitants of Diriamba. The construction of the tower was initiated in 1932 and finished in 1935 during the administration of president Juan Sacasa Baptist. - Tropical Dry Habitat Museum. BEACHES These beaches are approximately 20 - 35 minutes away from Diriamba downtown. - Boquita and Casares Beaches These beaches are inhabited mostly by fishermen. On the coast you can see interesting entries in the tide on the rocks, resulting in spectacular images and beautiful sunsets. For some, the waves are suitable for surfing. Traditional fishing, surfing, boat rides with fishermen. - Huhuete Beach This beach has dark sand and rocky flat areas, and offers a space with privacy for sun and beach tourism. Horseback riding, surfing. DIRIAMBA'S NATURE RESERVES - La Maquina La Máquina is a paradise ecoturism reserve that is located just 20 minutes from Diriamba, where you can enjoy the benefits of a natural world. - Salto de la Culebra Waterfall - A Hidden Treasure. The waterfall can be found about 15 kilometers southwest of Diriamba The waterfall consists of several small streams splashing over the rocks, joining together to cascade down the steep drop into a pool below. Built to a high standard; extensive terrace area for relaxing, reading and entertaining; it has two spacious rooms for our visitors and very nice social areas for sharing, all available to you. Guest AccessThis is the main entrance of the house, all the space is made of concrete and ceramic, it has internal 50 sq. meters parking space which allows you to park about 04 - 06 vehicles on the property; also has its circulation area that allows loading and unloading passengers, under covered area to protect them from the rain. Interaction with GuestsI am the owner of the house, my wife and I have worked hard in keeping the house to a high standards, in case that you need us, we are available to you by calling our cellular numbers, or you can contact the care taker of the house to contact us and take care of any special situation unforeseen that you may have. The NeighborhoodThe property at Residential Regina, Diriamba, is like any other regular house within the community, it is private because you are provided with a surrounding fence; therefore, you can play music at high volume, and you can behave like in a five stars hotel, be yourself and enjoy your stay. Getting AroundThe house is located five minutes from the downtown center of Diriamba, you can easily get any means of transportation within the city, and for visit to Managua, the Capital and other cities, you have Public Transportation available at the downtown area.
