The SpaceAmazonita/Casa Zenon is located in the Osa Peninsula, southwest Costa Rica where the rainforest meets the sea. It is one of the most remote, most spectacular and wildest regions in the country. One of the last places in Costa Rica to be settled, it has been dubbed Costa Rica's last wilderness frontier. Rich in wildlife, sparsely populated and until recently very difficult to access by road. Consequently much of the peninsula is still covered in majestic, pristine rainforest. Dominated by Corcovado National Park which protects most of the peninsula, the Osa supports more than fifty percent of the animal and plant species that live in Costa Rica. National Geographic has described the Osa as, "The most biologically intense place on earth". Situated on the edge of a steep hill, Casa Zenon is a very comfortable open house with a tremendous view of the forest. Built with rare tropical hard wood coming from naturally fallen trees, supply by its own spring water, completely open to the wilderness (no windows)! You’ll be able to feel the incredible energy of the Rainforest and embrace the jungle at one glance from the house. No need for a TV here, the landscapes will be your flat screen when you’ll enjoy the clouds flirting with the trees in the early morning or the Scarlet macaws and toucans flying above the canopy. No doubt, Casa Zenon will give you the ultimate Jungle experience safely and in a very comfortable setting. We can promise you won’t regret your choice. Guest AccessCasa Zenon is surrounded by lush rainforest, bordered by the clear waters of the Rio Tigre River in the small authentic Costa Rican village of Dos Brazos. Casa Zenon is only 5 minutes walking distance from the newly opened Corcovado National Park trail "El Tigre". As well has access to 14 kilometers of beautiful walking trails just minutes away with views of the Gulfo Dulce, waterfalls and swimming holes to enjoy. AMAZONITA (literally “small Amazon”) found at the end of the road of the village with the last electric post of the area. Basically, the Corcovado National Park with its 2.5% of the biodiversity of the planet is right in your garden! Nobody, except the amazing sounds of the jungle, the wild animals and the many species of birds will disturb you. Interaction with GuestsPlease bear in mind that the internet connection in the Osa Peninsula is very limited and sometimes it can take longer than usual for a response to your inquiries. The NeighborhoodDos Brazos is a town with a rich history and an even more prosperous future. Not more than 40 years ago, gold, and lots of it, was Dos Brazos claim to fame. People came from everywhere to work for the gold mining companies back then. After the companies left some decided to stay and Dos Brazos de Rio Tigre was born. Today Dos Brazos is a sleepy little town of just 295 inhabitants that lies in the richest location you can imagine, right at the border of the world famous Corcovado National Park with a brand new park entrance opened in February 2015! Although gold mining is still practiced, the wealth is in the amazing diversity of flora and fauna and wild life. In fact Corcovado is thought to be one of the most biologically intense and pristine places in the world! The SpaceWe are Michael and Barbra Fox. We became empty nesters in 2014 and decided now it’s our turn. We are very fortunate to find our own little piece of hidden tropical paradise, and the opportunity to open a small beachfront villa mini-resort in the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica. We found the most amazing but forgotten 3.5 acre piece of Heaven on Earth. With it came three existing homes, all in need of renovations and TLC. When we found the property it densely overgrown, but with lush botanical gardens full of Heliconia, Birds of Paradise, and colorful Orchids. The property was full of life with carefree monkeys playing in the forest throughout the property. Shells were dropping to the ground from the scarlet macaws and toucans eating the nuts from the trees above us. The property sits alongside a quiet remote beach in a very private setting. We have two swimming pools, but taking a swim in the ocean is all too inviting, as the water is smooth as glass. It’s shallow with no waves or undercurrents and safe for all ages with no worries. It took about a year as we assembled crews of local tradesmen slowly restoring the estate back to its original condition. We rebuilt structures, adding two new pools along with building extensive walking trails throughout the tropical gardens for nature hikes. We opened our doors on December 19th, 2014, booked our first guests one week later and our business was launched! What makes us different? We decided our concept would be different. Through our experiences we realized a niche that was being overlooked. We would offer our villa homes as a private beachfront mini-resort, inviting individual parties to use exclusively one group at a time. We provide an all-inclusive alternative to vacationers wanting to receive the same five star amenities of a resort but while enjoying your time together in a private setting, without the masses of a typical resort. We offer two beautifully furnished villa homes on the 3.5 acre beachfront property, with each one having its own private pool and deck area. Our property sits on the edge of our own private beach, and surrounded by luscious tropical jungle. The Osa is home to about 400 species of birds and it's a natural habitat to four species of monkeys. Our villas have A/C throughout and sleep 6 to 14 people comfortably. Our Garden Villa is 900 sq. ft.with it own fully equipped kitchen, it's own terrace and swimming pool. The beachfront villa is 3200 sq. ft. and has a very large fully equipped kitchen, a wet bar, and a great room for entertaining social gatherings. The large pool deck and terrace offers a gas grill and seating for more than 20 people, guaranteeing great pool party gatherings day and night. In the mornings? Well you can expect to sit and drink your coffee on the balcony watching the monkeys playing as they jump from tree to tree. You never grow tired of watching them. You will probably spot a dolphin or two as they swim past the beach. If you're lucky and without leaving your seat, you might even see a launching Humpback whale shoot out of the water. The Whale Resort is a great choice for group vacations at a very affordable price of about $115 pp per night. This property is one of a kind, offering an opportunity to rent your own exclusive private beachfront resort, with every amenity you should expect with any five-star experience! We offer a very private out of the way setting, but we are only 10 minutes from Puerto Jiménez, a larger port town that offers every amenity such a grocery stores, clothing and souvenir shopping, restaurants, night clubs, medical facilities, pharmacies, banks, ATM’s and a commercial airport. If you don’t want to make a trip into town, we have the local Canaza grocery and liquor store about 5 minutes from the property. We have a 24-hour concierge, along with a full-time staff taking care of the gardens, the pool, the house cleaning, and laundry services. We also offer private chef services. We have our own 5 star chef who studied culinary for 3 years in the US. We choose not to limit him with a menu and usually just turn him loose, but you name it, he’ll make it! The Whale Resort offers several tours and they are designed for all ages. A Taste of the Golfo Dulce Our Very Own Private Customized 1/2 Day water tour on the Golfo Dulce Bay where you will be picked up from our beach. The package includes whale watching where you will search for humpback whales as they migrate twice a year to the Golfo Dulce. You will also have the opportunity to swim with the pod of about 300 dolphins that live in the bay year round. We also search or manta rays, sea turtles, schools of fish and sea birds. We also stop along the way to do some snorkeling where you can explore our coral reefs and the colorful fish that surround you. This excursion always proves to be one of biggest highlights of our guest’s trip! We are proud to boast that we have the very best and most knowledgeable guide in all of the Osa. Hike to the Tigre River waterfalls This is one of my favorite tours and one you don’t want to miss. We take a short hike up the Tigre River, sometimes through the river, sometimes crossing it to trails and hidden paths. We stop along the way to see the locals panning for gold. They are happy and willing to let you take a swing at it yourself, offering their pan and some quick instructions and before you know it, you will have your own little flakes of gold. It’s common for these panners to mine anywhere from $25 - $50 of gold per day, but sometimes hitting a nice nugget, bringing a nicer pay day. Then as we continue up the river we eventually come to a beautiful waterfall to swim in, and if you want, you can make a couple of safe jumps! You can swim back into a shallow cave and take a quick pic to send back on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) no doubt! The falls also have a nice spot to lay back in to enjoy a nice shoulder massage! We have some fun in the water, then enjoy a beverage and some fruit that we pack with us up the river. We offer guided horseback tours with two trips to choose from. Rain forest horseback tour - You can choose an excursion through trails of the tropical rain forest of Matapalo to witness the many types of tropical vegetation and wildlife including various species of monkeys, birds, and maybe even a jaguar along the way. Beachfront horseback tour - You can choose a trip through Puerto Jimenez to see firsthand some of the cultural sites and meet and great some of the most genuine native Costarican people. We will stop along the way for lunch to enjoy some typical Costarican cuisine, then continue on to the beach to enjoy some one of the richest coastlines the country has to offer. Zip Lining Tour that also includes a tour of our butterfly garden and serpentarium Our zip line canopy tour has 11 platforms, two repelling lines, and a Tarzan swing. The guided trip takes you in an air-conditioned van being accompanied by entertaining English speaking guides that will explain various types of plants and tropical vegetation as we make stops along the way. Then we arrive to our ranchero deep into the mountains. There you will be greeted with a fresh tropical drink as you are given a short safety demonstration preparing for your thrill seeking mission to sore like an Eagle through the rain forest canopy course. Tour of our Botanical Gardens Once boarding the boat from our beach we take you across the bay to Casa Orquídea, a beautifully landscaped private tropical garden with hundreds of species of ornamental and edible plants along with various species of birds, loaded with too many varieties of humming birds to count. After you enjoy our guided tour, there is time to take a swim on the beach and enjoy a picnic lunch. Our Sunset Sailing Cruise Again you will be picked up mid-afternoon from our beach to catch the best breeze coming off of the bay. You will enjoy a tasty meal prepared on board along with your favorite cocktail beverage. We stop along the way and drop anchor to swim and snorkel some coral reefs. Then capping it all off, you will catch a sunset at the mouth of the bay! A Tour of the Wild Life Sanctuary You will be taken by boat to the largest wild animal rehabilitation reserve where injured animals are brought in from all over the country. First when coming ashore you will be greeted by ‘Sweety”, a Spider monkey that was rescued and rehabilitated, and never left. This tour is a great opportunity to see up close and in person the many different varieties of wild animals that live in the forests and jungles of Costa Rica. You can see Macaws, monkeys, Ocelots, Spider, Howler, Squirrel, and Cappuccino monkeys, sloths, Anteaters, Agouti, Coatimundi, Ocelots, and even jaguars. For you surfers, we are just a short drive away from some of the best surfing on the planet. There is also kayaking and paddle boarding available to have some fun on the water at your own leisure. There is also some excellent deep sea fishing in the area with a large variety of different types of fishing, depending on what you prefer. The marlin population is very plentiful in the area, so you can enjoy some of the best Marlin fishing on the planet. We also offer our own Marlin Deep Sea Sport Fishing Charter package. Our Five Star Amenities include: 24/7 Concierge Chef Services All Daily Transportation Services Daily House Keeping Services and Towel Changes Laundry Services In-House Masseuse In-House Mani/Pedi Services Tour Package Planner Two Villa's Two Pools A/C Throughout Guest Access(URL HIDDEN) Playa Juanito Mora isn't a private beach, because there's no such thing in Costa Rica, but it's a quiet out of the way beach. You may see an occasional fisherman, or a local walking the beach, but for the most part you'll feel like you have it all to yourselves! We have walking trails full of colorful flora and fauna, along with several beautiful varieties of Heliconia along the way, (otherwise known as Birds of Paradise). We also have colorful orchids sprinkled through-out! Don't be surprised to find yourself sharing your nature walk with the monkeys because more than likely, they'll be above you jumping around from tree to tree. There are three species of monkey's in Costa Rica. We have all three living on or near our property and you will find that they are all pretty social, and as curious about you as you are of them. Don't be afraid of them. They are never aggressive and if they feel safe, they will slowly come down out of the trees and let you feed them. If you're patient enough and have a large supply of banana's, you can get them to come up right on your lap to snatch a banana. The property is also full of Palma Real, which is a tree that grows a special fruit preferred by Scarlet Macaws and Toucans. Have your camera ready. It's not uncommon to catch a monkey, a macaw, and a toucan, all in the same picture! We also have small seating area's spread out through the trails to enjoy the nature, so you might find yourself wanting to sneak away to read a book, have a snack, or maybe to enjoy a bottle of wine, chilling out and fully enjoying all of the peaceful serenity surrounding you! We have a friendly full time staff that you may see from time to time unless you request otherwise. They'll be taking care of the grounds, the pool, and house cleaning services. We provide you a 24 hour concierge to see to your every need. He's friendly and professional and speaks fluent English. No matter what your request, don't be afraid to ask. He is there to help you in every way possible to make your experience as enjoyable as possible, so please let him! We always strive to maintain our home and property, but should anything break or go wrong, please notify our concierge, so we can take care of it right away. Interaction with GuestsWe always strive to maintain our home and property to the best of our ability, but should anything break or go wrong, please notify our concierge, so we can take care of it right away. The NeighborhoodOur villas are situated on a 3.5 acre property sitting alongside a quiet remote beach in a very private setting..The area is very safe and quiet, with one road in and one road out. We also have a gated access entrance with enough parking for 5 cars. We are located about about 10 minutes from Puerto Jimenez and about 40 minutes from Matapalo. Puerto Jimenez offers several restaurants, bars, banks/ATM's, pharmacies, medical facilities, tour operators, a commercial airport, and plenty of shopping. Getting AroundYou have several choices on transportation. We are about 5 hours by car from Santa Maria International, or about an hour by air if you choose to fly down the coast on Sansa Airlines or Nature Air. You can make your own arrangements to fly into Puerto Jimenez, or we can help you. If you prefer to drive, there are several rental car options in San Jose, We can also pick you up at SJO and personally provide comfortable transportation to and from our resort, no matter how large or small your group may be. If you choose to fly on one of the local airlines into Puerto Jimenez we suggest you schedule your inbound flights for early time arrivals into Costa Rica. If you can't arrange for an early arrival or get in too late, we can help you make arraignments to stay at a hotel near the airport, then fly in to Puerto Jimenez bright and early the next morning. If you choose to rent your own transportation and make the drive yourself and you've never been to Costa Rica, don't be intimidated. It's an easy drive. All of the roads are excellent from door to door. Some of the trip is highway with toll roads, and all of the roads are asphalted highway and it's hard to get lost. All of the major car rental companies are near the airport, and they offer GPS. Your smart phone can get you there too. Other Things to NoteCosta Rica has a high season and a low season. The low season is basically from Aug to early Dec. mainly because it rains more. I wouldn't let the rain deter you from coming to CR in any month though. It's always beautiful. It mostly rains in the afternoons in the low season, and picks up heavier in October but still very enjoyable. There is plenty to see and do all year around, rain or shine. The Osa is always a haven for a rich diversity of wildlife. We have a pod of about 300 dolphins living year round in our bay, along with Humpback Whales as the migrate to the bay throughout the year. If you decide to make the trip, you can only imagine what it must feel like, seeing a 60' whale surface or launch herself, with her baby close by her side! It's not uncommon for our guided boat to run around the bay with a mom and her baby for an hour at a time, or longer! We also offer a special tour package "A TASTE OF THE GOLFO DULCE" exclusively for our Guests! Don't worry about leaving anyone out either, we designed it to safely accommodate all ages. Looking for something with more of an adrenalin rush, just ask! Included in your day on the water: Personal Pickup at our beach - You will walk out to your boat in the warm tropical waters right off your beach. Once aboard, you will be welcomed with Guanabana juice and provided with informative narratives of the Golfo Dulce and its wonders. You will join us while we search for dolphins, whales, manta rays, sea turtles, schooling fish and sea birds. We will take you across the Golfo Dulce to the Gulfs lush, rugged Eastern Shore - Piedras Blancas National Park, this is the countries least visited National Park and is accessible by boat only. Mid-morning we will stop at Finca Saladero, where you will go ashore and join Harvey and Susan for a guided hike through their tropical gardens and then up into Primary Rainforest where you will see huge hardwood trees with massive root structures and vines while learning about the different levels of primary rainforest and their importance for our survival. Look for animals, insects and birds while learning of the diversity and symbiotic relationships between plants and animals. As you end your hike back down on the beach you can participate in learning how to de-husk, open and scrape out a coconut to enjoy the fresh coconut and juice. You will then enjoy a delightful beachside lunch made with ingredients grown on the finca and homemade natural juices – araza, cas, tamirindo or lemongrass tea before boarding the boat and heading back down the coast with a stop at one of our reefs for snorkeling, swimming and experiencing “planeboarding”, the unique experience of flying in and under the water. You will then be offered fresh local fruit and cookies as we return you back to your beach mid-afternoon. While on the boat you will be able to enjoy the “airchairs” – where you sit out over the water (the ideal location for watching dolphins), also the boat has a canopy for sun protection as well as freshwater rinse. Some suggested items to bring: Sunblock, swimsuit and towel, sunglasses, a camera to capture the memories and binoculars if you have.

About 3.5 ha of the property is manicured gardens, while the other 1.5 remains wild and open to exploration at any guest's whim. It is not uncommon to wake up to the sights and sounds of howler monkeys, toucans, and scarlet macaws (for example). The house is comprised of two bedrooms--one with a queen-sized bed, the other with a double bed, with an indoor bathroom and an outdoor one, each connecting to one of the bedrooms. There is also a large couch that can comfortably sleep one more. The outdoor kitchen is fully equipped, and also has a washer and dryer. There is also the option of renting the adjacent bunker for an extra $65 ($ 15 more per person over 2) a night which has a bedroom with two double beds and a bathroom. Agujas is a 15-minute drive from Puerto Jimenez, a great access point to the famous Corcovado National Park--a place teeming with wildlife. It is also a 45-minute drive to Matapalo, famous for its three world-class surfbreaks. The bus to Puerto Jimenez is a short walk from the house. From Puerto Jimenez there is public transport to Carate (the access point to the national park), Matapalo, and San Jose among other places. Garden Hacienda is ideal for couples who like privacy and enjoy the serenity and diversity of the tropics, though, it can also easily house groups.

The SpaceCasa Cuna del Golfo is a rustic beachfront two-bedroom home available for vacation rentals. The home is located on a large private hectare of immaculately groomed gardens that include lemon, orange, mango, water apple, and banana trees plus several old growth primary lowland palms and a large assortment of ornamental shrubs. Howler monkeys are regular property visitors with occasional squirrel and white-faced to join the parade. The scarlet macaw, and two species of parrots are regular visitors in both couples and loud flocks. Look for toucans when the papayas are ripe. We have a resident tiger heron and a host of other wading birds, boons of frogs and slow fish. A wide range of lowland mammal species proliferate: raccoon, coatimundi, two species of anteater, agouti, three species of opossum, jaguarondi, tayra, and two species of sloths are all characteristic of the region, the odd mountain lion, ocelot, or jaguar pawing around in a bit denser woods but straying outforest for the hunt. The gulf is calving habitat for the humpback whale and receives of influx of schools of whale sharks yearly. The Golfo Dulce, so named for the extensive amount of freshwater that it receives, is the tenth deepest gulf in the world. It is greatly celebrated (wrongly) as a tropical fjord (a specious oxymoron), and while that is all nonsense, it is nevertheless a maritime marvel. The Casa Cuna lawn is neatly manicured and flat with extensive areas of shade for lounging. The beach in this protected part of the gulf, is very tame, more like a lake than a seashore, and wave action never rises above a couple inches and is typically nearly dead calm, with little more than ripples lapping the shoreline. Mangroves are abundant along this stretch of low-lying coast and bound the properties boundaries on both sides of the principle beach access. A gravel walkway connects the beach to the front porch of the home. The two story home features open-air architecture and is remarkably cool, even chilly at night, even without the fans. Each of the two bedrooms has a queen sized bed. But there are also two additional double foam mattresses the second story porch and its floor space for spill-over sleeping. The overhang of the roof was built with Costa Rican rains in mind, and all the windows and the porch are safe from the spray of rainfall except during the most windy and violent of weather. A combined living room and dining area includes an enormous dining table with seating for ten and a well equipped kitchen with lots of counter space and a new refrigerator. The single first floor bathroom is tiled and simple. There is no hot water. There are two sets of concrete yard tables for outdoor dining and hammocks both in the yard and on the second story verandah. An outdoor wash sink is available for washing clothes and outdoor water supply. There are porches on both the first and second floor, with hanging hammock seats on the first floor verandah and an extensive second stoor patio overlooking the extensive lawns in front of the home that extend to the shore. Casa Cuna del Golfo boasts full electrical power and cell phone access. There is no television. There is no home Internet, but for those that wish to bring their own laptops, we can provide an Internet data card for use, though it's up to the clients to put credit on it.. Water supply is from a well. A caretaker lives permanently next to the property and provides security and maintenance as needed. The caretaker's wife provides catering services upon request for a modest additional fee. The home is fully equipped with linens, towels, and kitchenware and has private parking and extensive orchards. Beyond the watchman--who can provide some guiding and support services--our Puerto jimenez management company, Osa Corcovado Tour and Travel is a full service tour and travel agency and can coordinate tours, transport, rental cars, sport fishing, permits for Corcovado National Park, domestic air ticketing and charter flights, other vacation rentals around the peninsula, and a wide variety of additional services. At $60 per night, Casa Cuna del Golfo is the least expensive beach vacation rental on the entire peninsula. While ours is a rustic destination without television and other trappings of the world back home, we offer a great value, spectacular nature on the shores of the Golfo Dulce, and privacy for your family's vacation lodging at a great price. We are close enough to town so that it is convenient for business yet far removed from the dust, heat, and rowdy bustle of town so that visitors can take care of town business and retreat to the sumptuous and inexpensive convenience of Casa Cuna del Golfo once business is taken care of to enjoy the bucolic pleasures of the Cañaza coast.

Words are hard to describe this property. It's a 3.5 acre beachfront property with three homes. Each home is privately secluded from the others, with trails and pathways full of colorful vegetation, connecting each home through-out the 3.5 acres. Our entrance is gated, and when you go through the gates, it's like passing through to the other side into a wonderland of Mother Nature's tropical paradise! It offers the best of all worlds. It sits on the shore of Playa Juanito Mora, one of the most beautiful beaches on the Osa Peninsula, yet still sits in the middle of the most luscious tropical jungle flooded with several varieties of Heliconia, and colorful orchids through-out! Toucans, Scarlet Macaws, Titi Monkeys, Cappuccino Moneys, and Howler Monkeys are all there too! No matter what your personal interests may be, whether it's bird watching, or hiking, or whale watching, or enjoying our botanical gardens, we have a little bit of everything for everyone to embrace and to see! The Whale Resort is a large beachfront property located on the edge of Canaza, a small town near Matapalo, and about 10 minutes from Puerto Jimenez, a much larger port town that offers all the amenities such as restaurants, bars, banks/ATMs, pharmacies, medical facilities, tour operators, a commercial airport, and plenty of shopping, but if you're in a big hurry, Canaza also has its own small grocery store about 5 minutes away. The resort is in the Osa Peninsula, and backs up to the Golfo Dulce Bay, where one of the mother nature's most interesting phenomenon's occur. The Humpback Whales take a three month journey from Alaska heading to the Golfo Dulce, where they seek refuge from the Orca Whale, which is the only natural predator to the baby Humpbacks. There are two places on the planet were this phenomenon occurs. One is near Hawaii; the other is right in our backyard in the Golfo Dulce! The Golfo Dulce which means “sweet water” has an unusually large amount of fresh water rivers flowing into it, making it too toxic for the Orca to swim in, but biologically ok for the Humpbacks. Between July and Oct. hundreds of the Humpbacks have been instinctively traveling to this bay for centuries to have their babies, so it's an amazing destination for whale watching enthusiasts from all over the world to come and witness this incredible experience. You have the amazing experience of being in your own private jungle, but with the pool and the beach in the backyard too! Most mornings the monkeys show up too, lounging in the trees waiting for breakfast, hoping for an occasional banana or two. Always have your camera ready because you never know what you might see next! Playa Juanito Mora is a quiet out of the way beach, quietly tucked away on the Golfo Dulce Bay, the water is always warm and calm. It's always a very relaxing beach and always safe for swimming for everyone young and old. You may see an occasional fisherman, or a local walking, but for the most part, if you want to bask in the sun, exercise, or practice yoga or meditation, you'll have the beach all to yourselves! There is also a lot of excellent sport fishing in the area, and Puerto Jimenez is a hub for some very successful boats and captains! The Whale Resort includes three homes located on the property. Each home has its own pool and private deck area. Two homes are available now, and the third will be ready in June. Our vision has quickly become a reality. Our goal is to provide a very unique experience for groups of 8 or more, when traveling to Costa Rica. Finding single accommodations for larger groups is difficult. Most are forced into booking a bunch of hotel rooms at $250-$300 per night, right? If hotels aren't the answer, and you want rent a vacation home, but need more than one, you are forced into renting a couple of homes within the same vicinity. Then your group is kind of together, but kind of not. The cost of each home is probably $800 - $1000 per night. Both options are expensive, and neither can truly offer oceanfront. If you want an ocean view or beach access, that's going to cost more! So what if there is an alternative and at an affordable price? What if you could rent your own private first class oceanfront mini resort? Rent it exclusively for your group only, where everyone would all be together, all in the same place, all at the same time, oceanfront, poolside, and um,,, on the beach! Accommodations on the resort currently include 2 homes, and will sleep 12 comfortably, and the third home will be available in June and will sleep 6 - 8 comfortably. Each home is situated through-out the 3.5 acre oceanfront jungle property! The cost? about $50 per person, per night! We have a friendly full time staff that you may see from time to time unless you request otherwise. They'll be taking care of the grounds, the pool, and house cleaning services. If you prefer to cook, great, we have a large fully equipped kitchen, as well as a large gas grill. Don't feel like cooking, no worries, let our private staff prepare one of our delicious meals for you. We can handle all of your needs including grocery shopping, arranging your tours, arranging your transportation services, and any other services you may require, day or night. Home #1 - Oceanfront Is a three bedroom/three bath, and sleeps 6 - 8 comfortably, A/C. It has one king, one queen, and two singles in our bedrooms, along with a pull out day bed in the family room. This house is fully equipped with a large kitchen, a wet bar, and a large entertainment room for social gatherings. It has its own private pool and deck area with large porch areas, and enough outdoor seating for 20 + people and a giant gas grill for a great pool party! It's also oceanfront so everyone has a great view. It has its own gated entrance and enough parking for 5 cars. Home #2 – Garden View This is a one bedroom/one bath with a King Bed, and a pull out day bed in the family room. It will sleep 4 comfortably. A/C This house is fully equipped with a small kitchen and bar area with a TV. It has a large front porch area, and has its own private pool and deck area. It has its own gated entrance and enough parking for 3 cars. SPECIAL THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE WHALE RESORT There are three species of monkeys in Costa Rica. We have all three – and they live on or near our property. You will find that they are all pretty social, and as curious about you as you are of them. If you're patient enough and have a large supply of banana's, you can get them to come up eat right out of your hands! Our property is full of Palma Real, which is a tree that grows a special nut preferred by Scarlet Macaws and Toucans. Have your camera ready. It's not uncommon to catch a monkey, a macaw, and a toucan, all at the same time! We also have small seating area's spread out through the trails to enjoy the nature, so you might find yourself wanting to sneak away to read a book, have a snack, or maybe to enjoy a bottle of wine, chilling out and fully enjoying all of the peaceful surroundings. Costa Rica has a high season and a green season. The green season is basically from Aug to early Dec. mainly because it rains more. I wouldn't let the rain deter you from coming to CR in any month though. It's always beautiful. It mostly rains in the afternoons in the green season. There is plenty to see and do all year around, rain or shine. The Osa is always a haven for a rich diversity of flora and fauna, and always an abundance of marine life including dolphins and huge Humpback whales, and the sport fishing is always good. Can you imagine what it must feel like, seeing a 60' Humpback whale surface or launch herself, with her baby close by her side! It's not uncommon for our guided boat to run around the bay with a mom and her baby for an hour at a time, or longer! We do offer wireless internet and we will keep you connected, but we ask you understand, “You are in the jungle, in the Osa Peninsula” not New York City, so you expectations should reflect the same! There is always service, but bandwidth is limited and the afternoons can be hit and miss. If you want to upload/download files, or use Skype etc. do it at night. If you really need massive data capacity, and want lightning speed, then the later the better. I can tell you there are many guests that run businesses “even when vacationing” and they do it successfully from the Whale Resort, but do their heavy work at night, or early in the mornings. The local service provider is Kolbi and they offer a data card (with prepaid minutes) It's a USB card that plugs into your laptop. It acts as a personal hotspot, and tethers your laptop on to the wireless provider. We keep a data card available on site, so it's easy and not an issue our guests need to worry about. We keep plenty of data $ on the card but please, do not plan on downloading movies. We won't pay for that. Another option is to purchase an international data package plan from your US provider. AT&T; has an affordable plan and coverage is great. T-Mobile does not have good coverage at the resort. I don't have experience with the other US providers Your small pets are welcome if they travel with you! PLEASE NO SMOKERS We always strive to maintain our home and property, but should anything break or go wrong, please notify our concierge or any other staff member, so we can take care of it right away. Your home offers unparalleled privacy which is almost impossible to come by these days no matter where you stay unless you have a movie stars' budget! Get together a family group, business event and come see why the Osa Peninsula is referred to by National Geographic as “the most bio-intense” place on the planet! • Can be rented as 3, 4 or 5 bedroom-must be rented as 5 BR in high season except at last minute • 2 kitchens,4 living rooms, 5.5 baths, 5 bedrooms (king, queen, double/ beds) on 2 levels with horizon Aphrodite pool & wonderful Happy Hour dipping pool. Fibonacci design tootsie pool too at the sunning area (you can sunbathe here unlike at beach locations where that black sand will cook you!) • 400 feet above sea level where it is cooler with ocean views & beaches in minutes. Beaches are a blast to play at for a few hours but the rest of the time are HOT and can be quite buggy (no see-ums will eat you alive- not kidding). Also, all beaches and up to 300 feet from high tide are PUBLIC areas and there is ZERO privacy- here you have complete privacy. • Ocean views from both levels & the horizon pool • On site optional guided hikes, private chef services, Yoga, Massage, Reiki • Fun Eco Tours 10-20 minutes away with easy access paved road to most tours • Only a few minutes to remote, deserted beaches- some are lake like and others have waves and others for surfing- you can try different beaches every day. Lodging on beaches is HOT at night with chocolate colored sands & the sand fleas dig in later afternoon & night so staying where it is elevated skirted by rainforest are the most desirable places to stay unlike some beach vacation destinations where it is cooler at the beach- here it is just the opposite- it is cooler where rainforest meets sea and elevated. • 8 miles (13km to Puerto Jimenez) • Close to airport, car rental, grocery, a cold beer, gas station and homemade ice cream! Named after red, blue and yellow Macaw Parrots here on The Osa Peninsula, “Shade of the Parrot- Sombra de la Lapa” Rainforest Reserve protects 200 + acres private rain forest just minutes from remote beaches. According to National Geographic Magazine, The Osa Peninsula is the most bio diverse area in the world and Lapa's Song vacation house rental is located right in the middle, surrounded by three types of monkeys, exotic birds and 100's of curious critters in the rain forest. Lapa's Song is the perfect home for large/small families or host your next corporate retreat or corporate vacation and workshop within our nature reserve. This unique experience is uniquely private. Enjoy our new Aphrodite horizon swimming pool scheduled to be completed in May. Most people feel they need to choose either a beach vacation or a rain forest vacation when coming to the Osa Peninsula. Most beach destinations are dramatically lacking in cool breezes, privacy & wildlife- but they do have a beach. And most rain forest vacations are missing a beach! Here you get BOTH! Being minutes from beaches and located where rain forest meets sea, you have it all. Beautiful ocean views, easy to get everywhere (unlike many areas of the Osa Peninsula which are rugged 4X4 only expedition style, unpaved roads & no standard electricity) and cooler elevated above the beaches. Keep in mind that ALL beaches in Costa Rica are PUBLIC. So if you'd like privacy & security, you should consider staying where rain forest meets sea, away from the public zones where nothing is private. We are located on our own private wildlife reserve where rain forest meets sea. Here you get it all. beaches, mountains, wildlife everywhere without needing to go find it! Corcovado is our back door neighbor & the Gulfo Dulce (Sweet Gulf) & Pacific Ocean is our front neighbor. AT&T has an affordable plan and coverage is great. We always strive to maintain our home and property, but should anything break or go wrong, please notify our concierge or any other staff member, so we can take care of it right away. And then later watch the moon rise over the Gulf as the sun sets and it's HAPPY HOUR!! Take a longer vacation and don't be in such a hurry to get back home. Sweeping ocean views, crystal clear horizon swimming pool with ocean view & another smaller dipping pool are perfect for a nice float or swim, a drink at the sit up bar and lounging pool side and visiting with friends, family, colleagues and business associates. You have everything you need to feel comfy, cool and secure in the rainforest where it meets sea. Private chef on site, yoga, Reiki and massage available right here on your own private 200+ acre wildlife reserve and with Corcovado at our back door 1000's more pristine acres of untouched, pristine rainforest. The home design surmounts expectations and photos cannot show the bird garden in which the home sits! It's why we call it Lapa's Song Bird House! Sit at the horizon pool with a frosty umbrella drink and watch a myriad of birds ALL DAY LONG! From Toucans to Scarlet Macaws (Lapas) soaring overhead, watch raptors catch their drafts while you see monkeys frolic in the trees right in front of you! Only 8 miles to town, most tours within 20 minutes and no 4 wheel expedition style driving to go out for dinner like you have with most vacation rentals.
