The SpaceOriginally built in 1867, the "Weaver" building, as it is known in the county, was completely remodeled in 2005. The third story, originally storage for the store, was remodeled into rental loft accommodations complete with hand made furniture and trim salvaged from Kezar stadium bleachers in San Francisco. The loft sleeps up to eight guests in three queen size beds and three trundle beds in a loft style space -- not great for romantic couples but GREAT for large groups of friends or bike buddies. Guest Access•In the heart of Downieville overlooking the "swimming hole" at the Forks and the park. •2700 feet of living space over 2 levels. •Loft overlooks Main St. on one side and the Downie and North Fork of the Yuba rivers on the other side. •Eight full sized skylights in attic look out towards the mountains. •"Great Room" has two story views of mountains and river with exposed beam ceiling. •Sheets and towels provided. •3 queen sized beds, two sleeper sofas, 3 twin trundles that slide out from the wall. •Giant, well equipped kitchen overlooking the river. •Easy parking. •The back of the building is the "taking off" point for the rafting trips on the North Yuba and for the shuttle to the Downieville Downhill mountain bike trail. •Excellent summer swimming and fishing within steps of the building (ask about the best swimming holes). •TV available with AppleTV and BlueRay DVD Player (no cable) •Stereo system that hooks up with your IPOD. •Two fireplaces (one on each level). •5 minute walk to anywhere in Downieville (restaurants, shops, bars, wine tasting, etc) yet very private. •Large library of fiction and non fiction. •Now featuring wireless internet access with AppleTV •Charcoal BBQ Interaction with GuestsWe have no personal interaction with guests, as we live in San Francisco, but there is some interaction to be expected with Yuba bike shop downstairs, and we do ask guests to respect their business and to be aware that there is inevitably some noise to be expected from a busy bike shop with shuttles and people coming in and out.

The house is newly remodeled to accommodate vacationers who love the outdoors. Guest AccessEach level has a full kitchen, bath, bedroom, living room and private porch overlooking the Downie River. Interaction with GuestsHost unfortunately (for host) does not live in Downieville :( There may be renters in the other level but everything is separate, you won't see 'em. The NeighborhoodDownieville is an incredible place to spend some down time. The town is built around the Downie and Yuba Rivers and the hiking, fishing and mountain biking are world class. Drift House is in downtown and located on a third of an acre with a gorgeous view of river and forest so you get the best of both worlds. Getting AroundDowntown and the mountain bike shuttle are a 2 minute ride from the front door. You can walk into town in less than 10 minutes. Free and safe parking at the house, there is no reason to get in the car until you have to go home. Other Things to NoteThe beds are provided with clean sheets and a bedspread, please bring warm blankets in the winter to supplement, it gets chilly in the mountains! If you want to book both levels let me know, there is a 10% discount on the whole booking and the cleaning fee and deposit don't duplicate. If you would prefer not to have a bottle of wine waiting for you at the house let me know and I will leave some apple cider instead (if you are in recovery you are amazing and I totally support that!)
