The SpaceCozy 1 room Log Cabin in a quiet & private setting, located just 20 min, from Ithaca in a Small Natural Campground "Camp Earth Connection", adjacent to trails for cross-country skiing, hiking & biking in the Hammond Hill State Forest. Fridge, grill, picnic table, shower house, cooking pavilion included. Portable Fire Pit available. Camp Earth Connection is an alcohol and drug free facility. A great location for Mountain Bikers, Hikers and Nature Lovers. Small pond and paddle boat on facilities.
The Cabin is is in a private sunny location and sits under White Pines, Red Maple and Hemlocks. It sleeps 2-4 people with bunk beds, and one full-size futon bed/sofa. Includes electric, heat, fan, and small fridge. Also has an outdoor picnic table and access to a Smoky Joe grill and portable fire pit. This cabin can be equipped for children with fun toys, books and a VCR with some favorite all-time movies for kids. It is also known as the story-time cabin, as telling stories on the porch is a favorite activity!
Until October 31: There is a Shower House w/ hot water, Compost Toilets and Latrines. Also a dish-washing station and the Red Eft Cafe (An outdoor cooking pavilion.) Enjoy a cup of coffee or tea in the Helianthus Room (The sunflower greenhouse.) Guests who stay between July 1st and September 30th can join the host at the Red Eft Cafe for a complimentary cup of campfire coffee and oatmeal or pancakes.
Late Fall & Winter Camping is available. The cabin is on a seasonal road which is not plowed in the winter. When it is not possible to drive, guests can park 1/4 mile up the road and walk, snow-shoe or ski down to the cabin. Sleds are available to transport gear if needed. Cabin will have a 5 gallon filled water cooler in it. Guests will need to bring their own water to re-fill if needed. A Privy is availabe near the cabin for winter use.
Your host resides on site and will be available to welcome you and check you out. She will also be available by cell phone if she is not at the facility. Your host is also available to help you locate local attractions, restaurants, etc.
Just 20 minutes from the Cabin is Ithaca, NY. Ithaca is the home of Cornell University, Ithaca College, and some beautiful state parks with gorges and swimming areas, including Taughannock, Buttermilk and Treman State Park.
Just 10 minutes away is the little town of Dryden, NY. Dryden. You can find grocery stores, gas and a few quaint but worthy eating establishments like the Dryden Community Cafe or the Dryden Hotel.
Just 5 minutes away is Freeville NY is a favorite ice-cream shop, Toads Too with and abundance of flavors of soft and hard ice-creams. Across the street from Toads is what might be considered the best Pizza in town, at Bravo.
Public transportation is available from Dryden and Ithaca.
Guests should not depend on GPS or Internet for directions to the cabin. It is important to use only the directions provided by your host, as internet directions may lead you down impassable abandoned dirt roads.
The cabin is located on an alcohol and drug free facility. We ask that you respect these rules, and enjoy the peace and tranquility that our natural site has to offer you. Guest AccessGuests have access to all the amenities of the campground, including the shower house with hot showers, compost toilets and pavilions for cooking and gathering. The shower house and water is turned off on November 1st and re-opened in May.
There is a parking area at the campground - guests need to carry or use a wagon to bring their gear to the cabin (about 250 feet from driveway. Interaction with GuestsThe owner lives at on the premises at the campground until October 31st, and then is usually at the campground on weekends. When she is not at the campground she is just 1/4 mile up the road at her cabin. In the case the owner goes off site, she can be reached by cell phone at all times. The NeighborhoodThe cabin is located in a small natural campground in Freeville, NY. It is very private but only 5 miles from the town of Dryden with grocery store, places to dine, gas, etc. In nearby Freeville, there is a favorite ice-cream shop and restaurant. Ithaca is a 15-20 minute drive as is many of the beautiful state parks with trails, gorges and swimming areas. The cabin is also located just 20 minutes from downtown Ithaca; and 20 minutes from the Greek Peak Ski Resort. Getting AroundIn Dryden, there is public bus transportation to Ithaca. Other Things to NoteA dog may be allowed with the director's approval, An additional pet deposit will be required and the owner must keep the dog on a leash at all times, and must keep the pet with them. Pet's may not be in the cabin without owner. Proof of current vaccinations including Rabies must be provided.
