If you are an Angler, peaks thrust 13,000+ feet into the sky just west of our property, and brookies, rainbows, cutthroat, and brown trout fin placidly in the Wind River just 50 feet from your back door. The river is fed by numerous thermal springs, so it never freezes in the winter. Just above the property in the Wind River Range there are hundreds more remote lakes so clear they appear to be covered in nothing but cellophane. The upper Wind River runs through private ranches, willow flats, beaver ponds, and becomes public water in the Shoshone National Forest. It’s a region full of varied trout opportunities with excellent stream fishing, combined with exotic golden trout in the high lakes, makes the Wind River Range a sought-after destination for worldwide adventurous anglers. Guest AccessGuests have access to the main kitchen, patio, BBQ, the backyard and grounds, living room areas, and the steps leading down to the Wind River. Interaction with GuestsI can offer limited help during your stay if I am not working. Let me know what your needs are. I do stay on the property for security purposes. At times, I would need access to the upstairs for inspections and getting materials. The NeighborhoodDubois is an authentic western town located along the Wind River, rimmed by the Absaroka and Wind River Mountains. It's an area of striking contrasts from the badlands to the high peaks. The rustic log buildings that line the main street look much as they did when the town was first settled in the late 1800's. And yes, a river runs through it. Quaint shops, delicious restaurants and cafes are abundant in Dubois. The Wind River meanders peacefully through town on its way to join the Yellowstone River system. The area is home to the largest herd of bighorn sheep in the lower 48 states. Rock climbing and ancient native petroglyphs abound in the nearby cliffs.
Fly fish for trout all year long from the back yard or go 4-Wheeling into the Wind River mountains. Elk, Moose and wildlife galore! Splendidly situated on the continental divide in the spectacular Wind River Valley, this luxury all brick home with metal roof is tucked beneath a 300 foot bluff on the south and the Wind River on the north converging at the west end, this 8 acre private retreat is completely secure. Paradise found! Getting AroundPaved highways and dirt roads can accommodate most street vehicles. To really explore the backcountry, you will need a snowmobile, cross-country skis, snowshoes, 4x4, ATV, or a backpack. Other Things to NoteThere will be an added fee for pets (fee depending on pet type). No cats.
Since the property is tucked in a valley next to the Wind River Mountains, please be watchful for wildlife. This includes deer, elk, moose, and an occasional bear that may be dangerous if you get too close.
