The SpaceWelcome! We enjoy hosting fun worldly travellers in our wonderful home. Our home is situated 10 mins drive from the city centre (i.e. close but not too close!) and directly at the gateway to the Otago Peninsula, famous for Larnach's Castle, the Albatross colony, penguins, seals, and one of the top 10 cycle roads in the world (according to Lonely Planet!). Staying with us offers you great views, a comfortable room, outdoor spa (otherwise known as a hot tub or jacuzzi), relaxed atmosphere, great kitchen, friendly local advice, and most importantly a peaceful nights sleep. FACILITIES & SERVICES: * private lockable bedroom with queen-size bed, good views * shared bathroom, 2 separate toilets * guest fridge and full access to kitchen facilities * DIY breakfast (includes toast, spreads, cereals, milk) * facilities for making tea/coffee * bed linen and towels * free shampoo and shower gel * free WiFi * free off-street car parking * only 50 metres walk to bus stop into town * easy walking distance to the nearest bar/restaurants * two bikes and helmets (NZ$5 per bike per day) * washing machine and dryer (NZ$5 per load) * spa (NZ$5 per person) If you're travelling with a friend or in a group of 3 or 4, we have a second room available (please see our other listing for details!). If you have any other requests, just ask, and we'll see what we can do! We're well travelled - and enjoy outdoorsy stuff, music, hosting, meeting new people, learning new things, gardening, playing sport, reading, brewing beer, eating nice food and drinking nice wine! Dunedin is both under-rated and awesome. Whether you're into culture, architecture, outdoor activities, wildlife, history, a fun nightlife, or a quiet relaxing getaway, Dunedin has it all. I'd say more, but I don't want to give it all away - you've gotta come check it out for yourself!! If you're travelling around the South Island, Dunedin is 5 hours from Christchurch, 3 hours from Queenstown, and 2 hours from Invercargill. If you're arriving from (or heading to) the Dunedin airport, it's an easy 30 minute drive to our home (we recommend the supershuttle, it's way cheaper than a taxi, and doesn't take much longer). We look forward to meeting you soon!! Kind regards, Steve and Elke PS: are you planning to stay in Queenstown while in New Zealand? We recommend staying with our friend Philip who is also an AirBnB host: http://www.airbnb.co.nz/rooms/951960

The SpaceHi we are Dave and Joyce we have been welcoming guests into our home for 14 years. We love meeting travellers from around the world. Our home is warm and full of character: collections, art works, interesting garden with many gnomes families- some even talk to you! We have 2 very friendly cats on site. All the bedrooms have their own flat screen TV, heaters electric blankets towels, free WIFI, and hairdryers. ..not to mention we have a lovely outlook over the Botanical gardens & rolling hillside. Guest AccessWe have a large comfortable guest lounge and breakfast room, Piano for guests use, and an optional shared dinner for $15. There are many board games for guests use. We do have a separate house with basic equipped kitchen if you want to do your own cooking - continental breakfast is included in the morning - yum! The SpaceThe room rate you pay is all-inclusive, giving you shared access to the common areas of the entire property. The bedroom features a comfortable queen bed with a fitted heated blanket, clean comfy flannelette sheets and duvet. There's a lowboy, wardrobe and bedside table to give you some room to spread out. Towels are provided. Self-serve breakfast (fruit, cereals, milk, bread, spreads) and tea/coffee are included in your room rate. Cold beer is provided at cost! Guest AccessIn addition to your private room, you'll have access to all the common areas of the house, including a shared bathroom with heated tile floors and a spa bath, a full modern kitchen with espresso machine, dishwasher and gas cooking, the upstairs lounge with a logburner and big screen TV, a BBQ on the back deck, a verandah and of course the sunny conservatory. There's a large outdoor spa pool in a secluded area you should take advantage of too! The house has fast, quality WiFi and a complete entertainment system you are welcome to share. Interaction with GuestsWhen my partner Leanne and I are home we enjoy spending time with our guests and are happy to provide our local knowledge, including recommendations for getting the most out of your time in Dunedin and the South Island. Two other rooms are available (one upstairs and one downstairs) that are sometimes occupied by intrepid Airbnb travellers such as yourself, or longer-term housemates :-) The NeighborhoodDunedin is a beautiful city of hills and unique wildlife; Otago Peninsula provides some breathtaking vantage points, as does the coast road heading north out towards Karitane. The harbour walk/cycleway is just at the bottom of our hill, and if you're into mountain biking or tramping the Signal Hill tracks are just around the corner. Of course one cannot forget the Cadbury chocolate factory or the Speights Brewery for a rainy day! Getting AroundWe are only a 5 minute drive from the city centre, and you can walk to the stadium along the harbour in about a half hour. It's far enough to get spectacular views yet close enough to be in the thick of it in five minutes. Public transport around Dunedin is somewhat reasonable, and buses to the city travel regularly along the main road at the bottom of our hill during the week. While the property does boast some spectacular elevated views of Dunedin city, Otago Harbour and even a peek of the Pacific Ocean in the distance, the price for this is we live about 700m up a steep hill, something to consider if you are not travelling with your own car. If you are not travelling by car please let me know and I will arrange to pick you (and your luggage!) up at the bottom of our hill :-) Cycling is a great way to get around town or out and about, but a car will allow you to see a lot more in less time. I'm also happy to offer a lift into or out of the city centre on occasion :) Other Things to NoteWe feel the whole Airbnb experience is enhanced when your hosts are home to greet you at the door, pick you up at the bottom of our hill if you don't have a car, carry your luggage inside and give you a tour of the property to get you settled in. It's just not the same if we leave you to fend for yourselves on arrival! Because Leanne and I both work, check in is after 6pm. We are generally quite flexible on check-out times. If you are not travelling with your own car, please have a look at my notes under 'Getting Around'. The best way to the city from Dunedin Airport is via the shuttles, as it is a pricey taxi ride. Shuttles are usually around $20-30, can be booked online easily, and will bring you straight to Kauri St.

The SpaceFriendly Hosts :) We are a small family of three (in full-time management & a medical student). Stu will mostly be hosting alone during the summer months, other than between the 16th to 29th January where all three will be home. Your room has a super comfortable double bed, with electric blankets, bedside table & wardrobe. The house is homely, with a heat-pump, wood burner and great views. We have WiFi and a large TV in the lounge with SKY (equivalent to cable). As we are a fulltime student and fulltime shift manager, you will be left to yourself and we will be coming and going often :) While enjoying your stay you will have full access to all household amenities. Make yourself at home, however please restrict yourself to cooking meals before 9pm. We don't provide breakfast but you are welcome to use the kitchen and there is an extra fridge in the garage for storing your groceries as the one in the kitchen is quite small. Established, nice quiet neighbourhood. Small park across the road, and larger sports ground 1 km away. Nice views with great sunsets. There is a main bus line at top of the hill about 350 meters away. Also a convenience store should you not wish to go into town. We both work in town and would be happy to drop you off on our way to work :) If you are coming from the airport, the best way to get to the house is by shuttle (around NZD 20-30) as the airport is a 30 minute drive from the city, meaning taxis are quite expensive. The SpaceOur house is situated on the beautiful, and sometimes dramatic Otago Peninsula. It is a ten minute drive from the Dunedin CBD and enjoys a rural aspect but has the advantage of being close to the city. It’s a large family home that I Deborah share with my husband Alistair. We would like the opportunity to share our house with travellers, but also earn extra income to travel more ourselves. I have worked in the Tourism business in Dunedin for twenty years, and have a wealth of knowledge of our region, which we would love to share. We have made two bedrooms available to air bnb guests, the rooms share a modern en suite. We will only rent both bedrooms out if the guests know one and other (i.e. friends or family), other wise you have the bathroom to your selves. The rates will be based on the number of people and the number of rooms/beds you want to use. One bedroom (1 or 2 people) is NZ$120.00/ night, second room is priced at the nightly rate of NZ$120.00 We provide a continental breakfast to our guests. Guest AccessWe are happy for our guests to make full use of the kitchen and laundry during their stay with us. We also like our guests to make full use of the living area's and our garden. We have a reasonable vegetable garden which we are happy for our visitors to help themselves to. Interaction with GuestsWe try to be at home if possible to greet our guests, sometimes this is not possible as we both work. We try to be as helpful as possible without being too invasive. The NeighborhoodThe harbour view and the rural aspect enhanced by the fact it is just 10 minutes into the CBD. When visiting Dunedin the two things you need to see are our striking heritage buildings and our unique wildlife. Getting AroundWe have a bus stop at the bottom of our driveway. I recommend if you want to explore the peninsula renting a car is the preferable option. Other Things to NoteOur beaches are our best kept secret, dramatic and quite often deserted. Clean and rubbish free, we love them!

The SpaceOur cottage is a lovely place to stay as you'll have complete privacy, a private bathroom, and free covered off-street-parking. In that sense, you've got the best of both worlds - on site hosts to help you figure out your local travel plans, and a private space to retire to as you wish! Our home is situated five minutes drive from the city centre (i.e. close but not too close!), has views of the harbour, and we're located at the gateway to the Otago Peninsula, famous for Larnach's Castle, the Albatross colony, penguins, seals, stunning beaches, and one of the top 10 cycle roads in the world (according to Lonely Planet!). Staying with us offers you great views, a comfortable private cottage, relaxed atmosphere, friendly local advice, outdoor spa (also known as a hot tub or jacuzzi), and most importantly a peaceful nights sleep. The cottage has a queen-sized bed, and is perfect for one or two people. Guest AccessYou'll have access to areas within our house, including the kitchen (breakfast only), dining room, lounges and laundry. We also have a guest fridge available for your use. Interaction with GuestsAs much or as little as you like! We'd be delighted to help you with your travel plans, from local advice for the best things to do in the Dunedin area, to broader advice about your travels in New Zealand. We are very well travelled, and full of useful info! That said, if you're looking for a private hideaway experience, that's totally cool too! For the most part, we'll be around during your stay, however, from time to time we do take bookings while we're not at home, and we'll be clear in our communications with you as to our plans. The NeighborhoodDunedin is both under-rated and awesome. Whether you're into culture, architecture, outdoor activities, wildlife, history, a fun nightlife, or a quiet relaxing getaway, Dunedin has it all. We'd say more, but we don't want to give it all away - you've gotta come check it out for yourself!! In regards to our neighbourhood, Andersons Bay is a relaxed quiet part of town, and we have a few restaurants and other facilities within easy walking distance. Nowhere is very far in Dunedin! Getting AroundOff-street-parking is available in a covered carport adjacent to your cottage - so really handy in regards to handling baggage. We are very conveniently located for public transport - there is a bus stop just 50 metres from our home! We'll provide you with a full description for locating our home when you book with us. The SpaceHi. Nice to meet you. Here's a little about us, Sandra (but just call me Sam) and Jon. We are both hospitality workers, one chef and one bar manager so we have your food and drink covered when it comes to staying with us. Jon is a craft beer guru and works at our world famous Emerson's Brewery. A quick personal brewery tour can be arranged if it takes your fancy. And we know all the good cafe's, takeaways and restaurants in town, plus our own culinary kitchen skills of course. We are owned by two cats, Riley and Bock (appropriately named after a beer style). Our Bock boy is super friendly and will be taking your lap in no time. Riley is a typical female and takes her time to get to know anybody so don't be surprised if she is a little wary at first, she's just checking you out. The shared living space is cosy and brimming with an eclectic book and magazine collection. There is a large DVD movie selection for entertainment which easily makes up for the lack of a television. The house is heated by heatpump and an open fire in the winter. We are a low technology house so there is NO INTERNET, WIFI OR TELEVISION. Out the back door there is a large downhill sloping section with a clothesline quests are welcome to use. We have recycling in our home and a compost for organic waste, both of which guests are encouraged to use, just ask us and we will be happy to help. The bedroom is heated with an oil heater and an electric blanket is installed on the bed. Extra pillows and blankets are available. Guest AccessGuests are welcome to use all the facilities in the house including laundry (washing machine and dryer) and kitchen. We are both handy in the kitchen and welcome any opportunity to invite quests to share our home cooked meals with us. Interaction with GuestsAs hospitality workers our working hours are not the typical 9 to 5. Early am starts and late evening finishes are often the norm so there maybe times We are a couple who love to host and entertain and encourage quests to make themselves at home with us. We value and respect everybody's need for privacy and while we both enjoy the company of others, we are here to make our guests stay as comfortable and easy as possible by allowing space for us all to share without disturbance. The NeighborhoodWe live on a quiet street surrounded by mature trees and friendly neighbours. This is a cat neighborhood with only one dog several houses away. Just a short walk will get you to the local dairy and bus stop. We are close enough to town to walk (40 mins downhill and along the flat). There is the option of a bicycle for guests to use. A small but well serviced shopping area with supermarket, bakery, pizza restaurant, Indian restaurant, takeaways and two local bars is down the hill at the beginning of North east Valley, home to our acclaimed botanical gardens and famous steepest street in the world. Getting AroundWe live in a hill suburb, about a 45 min down hill walk away from the centre of town. Buses run on the hour down the hill to the main centre of town where connecting buses will take you to where you want to go and then back up the hill again to home. It will cost $3.40 for three zones one way or $2.50 using a concession card. This is the cheapest way to get around apart from walking. We are happy to drop off and pick up, with in reason and when we can. Other Things to NoteJon and myself are both from the North Island, namely Wellington and north of Auckland. We both arrived in Dunedin with a short stay in mind but have both come to call the South home. We have explored both the islands extensively and can give guests great tips and possibilities for adventure and travel, camping sites, must do's and how to get about.

The SpaceThis is a quiet street with rural mountain views, very warm, sunny, comfy and only 5min to central city/uni. House has two bedrooms listed on Airbnb. I'm a chilled kiwi and I live in my big bus out front with my dog; "Faddi". You get the whole house, as I am in the bus or out and about with my dog or daughter Sarah. The kitchen is fully equipped and stocked (spices, sauces, tea, coffee, milk etc) for cooking, please just help yourself. Your room has a new 32in TV, with 26 freeview channels. This is one of two rooms available. House has separate lounge, kitchen/dining. Huge north facing deck. Open fire if you want it. TV in lounge. Each room is separately listed on airbnb. Most of the rooms have heaters and I will put the fire on before you arrive if its cold. This room has a brand new 32in TV with 26 built in freeview channels. You get to use the whole house as I spend most my time in the bus or out and about with my dog Faddi. Faddi is not allowed in the house and is generally not on the loose. I have had many travellers comment on the comfort of the bed and the good nights rest they had at mine. The rooms are not adjacent to each other, but rather separated by a hallway and a lounge, so privacy is assured. Each room has its own deadlock for your security and peace of mind while away from the house. You may wish to add your mug shot to the wall in the kitchen where many travellers have taken the opportunity of using the poloroid instamatic camera. I suggest you check out my guidebook when planning your trip as there is much to see and do in Dunedin. Not the least of which is Mount Cargill Lookout just ten minutes up the hill from my place. You can see the Mount Cargill transmitter from my back deck, on the hill and you can drive right in under it. The views and sunsets are outstanding and give you a good idea as to the lie of the land and the spread of Dunedin. Entire house. Unlimited wireless internet. Free parking. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need to cook and is easy to navigate. I am happy to interact as much or as little as guests wish. I live in the bus out front with my dog and share facilities as my bus is not quite ready for freedom camping. I am happy to answer questions from guests and have a range of brochures, maps and books to help you decide how to spend your time while in Dunedin. I can also arrange a private tour of Otago Penninsula (penguins, albatross colony, Larnachs castle, seals), a favourite route for many travelers. Its approx 35-45 minute drive, a 70km round trip from my place. I live in a very quiet city suburban street. House has a northerly aspect and thus the sun comes in the kitchen in the morning and travels around the deck to the lounge in the afternoon. The house is newly insulated and carpeted and really is quite warm and comfy. We are five minutes from Baldwin St (worlds steepest street), five minutes from the stadium, five minutes from cadbury World, Pine Hill is very close to the city centre without the noise of the city! Five minutes down the road is the Gardens New World supermarket, and also in this small shopping precinct, a couple of bars and cafes, including Crusty Corner Cafe that bake their own bread and make excellent fresh food daily, the Inch Bar often has live music, Filladelphios have fine pizza and a range of wine and beer, there is also an Indian and a Thai food outlet at the Gardens shopping precinct. The gardens also boast one of NZs oldest established Botanical Gardens. There are buses two mins from the front gate, they regularly go in and out of the city centre and from there to other suburbs. I can also pick people up where pre-arranged. Look for the bus with "Pine Hill" on it to get home from town. I have the bus timetable in the lounge. If arriving on foot from the airport there is a very good shuttle service, $20.00 NZD airport to gate. I can book the airport shuttle and they hold up a card with your name on it at Dunedin airport. To find out about local events that may be on during the time of your stay please go to (URL HIDDEN) and (URL HIDDEN) Guest AccessThe whole house. Interaction with GuestsI am either in the bus, or at the Dalmore Reserve ommunity Garden located at the end of my street, or at my friends house which is just a couple of streets away, so can be home quickly if there are any issues or questions. The NeighborhoodDalmore is very close to the city centre, and even closer to the Gardens New World Supermarket on North Road, and includes several pubs and eating places. Otago University is also very nearby (Halfway to the centre of the city). The city centre is known as the Octagon and the buses travel from here to the Octagon along George Street. Geaorge street (Octagon end) is where the main shopping places are. Getting AroundThere is free parking outside my place and also in the centre of the city on Sundays. All the major supermarkets have free parking. There is also parking available at the Meridian Mall off George St. Just one house down from mine is an alley that leads to a sheltered bus stop on Pine Hill Road. This home is located in a private, quiet no exit street. We have a close knit community here in Pine Hill and are visited by kids and other residents regularly. At the end of our street we have Dalmore Reserve a huge track of land that has paths that lead down the hill to the Gardens North east Valley (not a walk for the faint hearted), the views are outstanding, and if there is a concert happening at the Stadium, you can go to the Reserve and listed for free! the Reserve gives you views up the main street of Dunedin (George/Princess St), to the Octagon and the Harbour and surrounding suburbs. Out the back is a large deck that overlooks the garden and a mostly rural mountain view. Interaction with GuestsI am happy to interact as much or as little as people require. I try to always be here when people arrive and help them with their enquiries regarding Dunedin. I generally don't come into the house until guests are up and about. I don't mind taking people up to the Mount Cargill Lookout ten minutes up the hill from my place (at sunset is the best time). I am not always at home and spend a lot of time at my friends house just around the corner, so can be here very quickly if there are any issues or problems. The NeighborhoodPine Hill Road leads to the Mount Cargill Look Out, you can see the transmitter on the top of my hill as you drive towards my place. The transmitter can be driven right up to and it is from here that you will get the best overview of the terrain around Dunedin, you can see right out to the end of Otago Penninsula and the entire Dunedin City. Its ten minutes up the hill by car from my place. ten minutes down the hill is Baldwin Street (worlds steepest street), and we are also ten minutes from Cadburys Chocolate World and also less distance to the Forsythe Bar covered stadium.
