The SpaceSitting on top of a Catskill foothill with a view of 5 states, this historic 1860's home has an eclectic artsy feeling while still holding on to many original details. close to Windham mountain ski area and many great restaurants, antique shopping and beautiful nature. There is internet and cell phone reception. (URL HIDDEN) In the winter I have to add $150 to have the plumber come and turn the water and heat on for you. (this plus a cleaning fee of $150) Also renters are responsible for having the driveway plowed themselves. I can give you a number of someone who does it, but depending on your car and how much you want to drive in and out....and the weather...Its really best left up to you. bedrooms: 4 double bedrooms, 2 twin bedrooms, one with 2 twin beds and one queen bedroom. In the summer there is an additional twin in the tower.

If you like character, infinite charm, and an untouched small town in the mountains with nothing but a post officee and wonderful walks, near the town of Windham (food people movies, mountains) you will be as happy here as we are. Quiet, perfect hiking, the absolute best place on earth to read a book, listen to music or have the conversation you've been waiting for years to have. It's one of those most perfect places on earth. We have been living next door for summers and weekends for 25 years, and every month is entirely surprising. The area is full of beauty and history, and it's possible to spend a perfect weekend just sitting outside, walking through the hills, or cooking a meal and sharing a bottle of wine. Close to great swimming holes, antique shopping, restaurants, hiking, skiing, farm stands, fresh air and nice weather. The house in unique in this area for a large historic rental for a large group which is great for skiing or summer activities. (a water park in the area is fun for kids) The house is also nice for small groups or couples. There's a great kitchen with nice appliances, wifi, DVD player, and stereo. bedrooms: 4 double bedrooms, 2 twin bedrooms, one with 2 twin beds and one queen bedroom. The SpaceThe changing seasons in the Catskills offer spectacular vistas and colors. A variety of outdoor activities to please everyone's interest. The fall season with its brilliant foliage color, offers enchanting mountain views given way to a crisp winter snow painted country side. The warmth of the spring renews the flowers and brighten the mountain with a lush green foliage announcing the warmth of summer evenings. We would love to share with you the experience! Our home is centrally located within 25 miles radius encompassing the town of Durham, Windham, Catskill, Greenville, Hunter and 45 minutes from Red Hook and the town of Hudson. The house is only 2 1/2 hour from GWB, or Boston, MA and just 45 minutes from Albany. A perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city life. In the Catskill you can do hiking, mountain biking, fish, hunt, downhill skiing, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, canoeing, golf, horse back riding, zip lining, miniature golf and so much more. We are also conveniently located nearby several summer festival including: Grey Fox Blue Grass Festival, Hunter Mountain Jam feast, Irish Art Week, East Durham Irish Festival, International Celtic Festival at Hunter Mountain, The Catskill Mountains Thunder Motorcycle Rally. Plus others. Catskills are well known for ski areas, golf courses, antiquing and picturesque water falls and mountain views. See Guidebook for more details. Our Casa Bella Vista sits on seven acres on the side of a hill with beautiful views and fully stocked large Koi pond with sitting area under the pergola to relax and enjoy your coffee. In the warmer season you can sit on the deck and enjoy the spectacular views and the sunsets with a glass of wine with dinner or later sit by the fire pit and gaze at the stars and roast marshmallows. The house has an open floor plan, Fully equipped kitchen, 2 bedrooms with full size beds, bedrooms are on opposite sides of the house, great for two couples with plenty of privacy. 1 full size futon bed in view room, and one full size futon bed in living room, the house sleeps 6 adults comfortably and can accommodate up to 8 people. We have a 40 inch flat screen TV with DVD player in view room. Also there is a TV in every other room. The house has a deck with BBQ and picnic table, a sundeck with lounge chairs for sunbathing and a covered deck for rainy days. The house has a foyer/mudroom for your convenience to leave coats, skis and boots after skiing. Dish Network WiFi, some restrictions apply. Sorry! Cellular Service very Poor. There is a land line available for local calls only or collect calls. Guest AccessGuests have access to the whole house and yards, all its contents including all appliances, cookware, extra linens, blankets, (located in small bedroom dresser drawers and closet), towels are on shelves in the full bathroom. House blankets and towels not to be used outdoors. If you want to use blankets and towels outdoors you should bring your own. Guest are welcome to use BBQ (extra propane tank in storage under deck) and Fire pit if familiar with it. We have air condition in the house, the house is comfortable on those hot steamy summer days, we also have ceiling fans in every room for those people that rather not have AC. NOTE: Garage, boat, 2 sheds, and two locked owner closets are off limits. Interaction with GuestsWe can be easily reached via email, text or phone. The NeighborhoodVery peaceful and away from everything. The views are spectacular all year but especially in the fall. There is little or no traffic on Knowles Road. If you like to hike uphill there is a horse farm and a lambs farm with llama within a mile, down hill there is a cow farm and an equestrian center. There are large fruit orchards within driving distance to pick your own apple, peaches, cherries and strawberries when in season. (Fix Brothers Orchards) See Guide Book. There is a public park with a creek, picnic tables, and children's playground. (Coming from the house go to blinking light make a left, Preston Hollow Park is located 1 1/2 miles on the left side of the road.) Getting AroundThere is no public transit to the house. Parking in the driveways accommodates 4 cars comfortably. There is Adirondack Trailways buses from NYC and Long Island to Cairo, 1/2 hour away, or Metro North to Hudson 45 min away. Albany is the closest airport 1 hour away. Other Things to NoteNOTE: Holidays there is a 3 nights minimum stay. The Milk Run is the closest diner/convenience store and gas station about four miles away. (Driving North on route 145 on the way to the house it's on the right side) Gas is open 24 hours for Credit Card purchases. Closest Diner is West Wind diner in Preston Hollow going North route 145. (make a left at blinking light coming from the house 5 minutes away) They also carry milk, juice, eggs and food to go. For a trip down memory lane there is the drive in Movie Theater in Coxsackie, with 4 screens, 35 minutes from the house, Route 9W ( Hi-Way Drive-In) For hikers we have Vroman's Nose Trail in Fulton NY. 25 min. from the house on Route 145 (coming from Casa Bella Vista make a left at blinking light towards Middleburgh). It's a 1 1/2 mile loop which offers spectacular scenic views and is rated moderate and is well marked, a must see especially in the fall. (Worth the effort!) Nearest small town is Greenville with Full Grocery store, Drug store, Medical clinic, Dunkin Doughnuts, Restaurants, Subway, Bank etc. 1/2 hour from the house on route 81. Windham Mountain is 1/2 hour away with lots to do. Skiing, Restaurants, shops, etc. On the way to the house on Route 145, there is East Durham with Irish pubs and restaurant, Go Cart track, Zoom Flume water park. NOTE: Holiday Weekend minimum 3 nights stay.

    This cozy log cabin sits on 32 private acres with it's own beaver pond. There is wildlife abound on this property . It is not uncommon to have whitetail deer visit at dusk and dawn, wild turkey may cross the hiking path as Canada geese fly over and into the pond. The cabin is accessed by a private dirt road and all wheel drive suggested in winter months.

      The Gallery Inn is located in the quaint town of Durham, NY, near many attractions. The area offers attractions such as Windham Mountain and hunter Mountain (15 and 30 minutes away), Howes Cavern (30 mins away), seasonal fruit picking in various locations, Mine Kill State Park, Hiking Trails, etc. The house is spacious and is divided into two apartment or can be used as a whole. The first floor has a large kitchen with dining area, a large double living room with three sofas and a baby grand piano, 2 bedrooms (1 with double bed and one with queen), and a bathroom. The upper apartment has two bedrooms (One large bedroom with 1 king and 2 twin beds, the other bedroom also large with 2 full beds), a large bathroom and a kitchen with dining area. There is a patio outside with a roof and picnic tables to enjoy the space on warm days. Also comes equipped with two barbeques. The house is fully equipped and comes with linens, towels, toiletries, and kitchen appliance. There is also another smaller cottage cross the lawn which can house 2 more guests if the party is larger than 12 people. Please see our other listing for details.

Eat in the formal dining room or in the kitchen. There is a park right next door with a nice kids area and baseball diamond. The creek out back is fun for wading and catching crawfish. Details: 4 Bedrooms; 1 1/2 bathrooms; spacious kitchen and dining room, living room, plus surrounding grounds which include a barn/garage and the original outhouse. The full bath upstairs is shared by all bedrooms and is very functional, not fancy. The home is furnished with vintage and antique furniture. Mattresses have all been recently replaced as have the linens. Internet is provided. Sleeps 6 people comfortably: 1st bedroom has queen bed, 2nd bedroom twin beds and the living room a queen size sleep sofa. The cabin sits on 32 wooded acres which has it's own tranquil beaver pond. Enjoy our outside firepit under the stars. This area holds whitetail deer, bear, turkey and several species of small game, upland birds as well as freshwater fish so fishing and hunting is in abundance here in Preston Hollow. If Skiing is your thing it is a short 20 min drive to Windham and Hunter mountains a bit longer to Belleayre & Platterkill. This is a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of crowded slope side lodging. You can drive to the baseball Hall of Fame, Howe & Secret Caverns and it's only minutes to the Zoom Flume water park. There are several picture postcard golf courses in surrounding communities. Major NYS snowmobile trails are within minutes of this Cozy Cabin. Winter Months: Between December and March. If you plan your stay during these months you should plan on snow. The cabin is at an elevation that recieves snow when most forecast for this area call for rain. Dress for winter, including snow boots. The road is a private road that we pay to have plowed. There is a 'one time' plowing fee accessed to each rental during the winter months. That means you pay the $75 fee once during your stay, even if the plow comes 3 times while you are there. Plowing is done on an as needed basis and there is no salt and sand treatment of the road. If you here a horn beep outside, it is the plow driver asking you to move your vehicle so he can clear the driveway. Please comply and move your vehicle as soon as possible. Four Wheel or All Wheel drive vehicles are recommended during this time.

        The Gifford is a cheery, lovely home with both breathtaking mountain and serene pastoral views. It is located on 3 acres in a peaceful corner of the Catskills in beautiful upstate New York. The first floor of this two-story Cape Cod has a bright and airy country eat-in kitchen, complete with cooking and serving supplies. The family room provides games and a television with a selection of DVDs for your entertainment. The glass-doored woodstove in the living room provides added warmth for those chilly winter evenings, while the attached deck offers a wonderful view of our Catskill sunsets (complete with cows or horses). The master bedroom has a queen bed and cozy writing nook. The full bathroom is also located downstairs, as is a laundry. The upstairs has three bedrooms; one has a queen bed, another has a full, and the children’s room has one bunk bed and two twin beds. We include a complimentary take-home breakfast gift basket with your stay! On the Farm Winter is a magical season here; it is a wonderland of snow-covered, majestic mountains where adventure awaits you. The spacious backyard has plenty of room for playing in the snow and a stone fire pit to enjoy s’mores or roasting hot dogs. There is a picnic table and chairs to relax on while taking in the star studded sky undisturbed by city lights. Bring your own gear or rent locally to enjoy access to our 300-acre farm to snowshoe or sled. In fact, it’s just a moment’s walk to the main farmhouse where we live and the hub of Hull-O Farms, which of course you’re welcome to explore and enjoy to your heart’s content. During your stay, you’ll be welcome to participate in any activities or ‘chores’ happening while you’re here, such as feeding the animals. You may be able to romp with the rabbits, cuddle the kittens, take a gander with the goats, ponder the pigs, sit with the sheep, or canoodle the cows.
