The SpaceA quiet retreat in the forest in a wildlife sanctuary with bedroom/double bed, your own small veranda with couch and table and a very quaint 'glamping' kitchenette, under-cover but open air, for your own exclusive use. (that's glamour camping for those who haven't come across the term before). The 2 bathrooms are very special and are both shared unless there is only one guest room occupied in which case you can choose one for you own use. One has a large shower with garden views/composting toilet and powder room and the other is a shower and bathhouse. (Very Hobbit) Both are separate from the house and studio. The whole house is pavilion style where all rooms are separate. It is very unique and very funky but not suitable for people who are infirm or have difficulty with steps. It’s a whole different experience and especially suitable for people interested in alternate living styles, the local feel and rural living. If you are sensitive to Electro Magnetic Waves this is a good place to escape them. Visitors are welcome to use the outdoor patio (wood) barbecue area. (In emergency if you don’t have supplies I can provide a simple continental breakfast of tea/coffee toast/cereal at $12/person) I am happy to leave you to your own devices or give advice on places to go and beautiful beach destinations. It is extremely peaceful at my house and a good counterpoint to forays into the local colourful towns of Mullumbimby, Brunswick Heads, Bangalow, Nimbin and Byron Bay. Lots of café culture, restaurants, shops, bars, nature walks, markets, attractions and beaches etc. I live pretty quietly by myself. I will certainly do my best to make you comfortable and provide maps, walking books and tips if required. I am a tango teacher and florist and have been teaching locally for 13yrs. Also available during Byron Blues Fest' and other Nth coast retreats and festivals. A perfect place to unwind from the hubbub. 12mins from Bluesfest site. 7 mins to Mullumbimby. 25 from Byron. 30 from Nth Byron/Yelgun event site. All weather gravel road access but occasionally we are flooded in during very extended bad weather. There is no key for the room but it is very safe here and away from the main road. Wifi is available but there’s no mobile reception. Friends can contact you via your (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN), facetime, viber or on my home phone. There are buses from Mullumbimby to Byron and Brunswick Heads but they are not frequent. Tour buses are to available to Nimbin. Hitch-hiking is pretty easy around here but your own car is recommended if you wish to explore the area and have freedom of movement. Available from Coolangatta airport. Guest AccessA private undercover camping style cooking area and dining setting for eating, the barbecue patio, with table. Shared bathroom and bathhouse. (private compost toilet if desired.) Parking space. Access to all gardens. Your own small veranda with couch and coffee table. Interaction with GuestsI will be available for help and advice during your stay. I like my own space but you are very welcome in my house to interact or do your own thing. If you don't have transport I am happy to give you a lift to town if I'm heading out. The NeighborhoodThere are country walks on our land, nearby around our local roads and extensive walks a short drive away. Beautiful beaches for walking and swimming in nearby Brunswick Heads, New Brighton and Byron Bay. Our local town of Mullumbimby is friendly and colourful with good cafes, restaurants, markets, concerts and various live music events. Getting AroundPublic transport is very limited and restricted to buses but there is a bus from Coolangatta airport to Uncle Tom's petrol station near Mullumbimby and from there I can pick you up. From Ballina you can get a bus to Mullumbimby but please check bus times before you book your plane ticket as they don't run all day. A car is definitely best. there are local people who rent out at about $175/wk. Restricted services from mullum' are also available to Brunswick Heads and Byron. The SpacePlease note that the advertised price is for the studio alone. A second room, when available, is attached but separate to the main house. It has a double bed and veranda and would share the amenities of the studio and have access to the undercover camping kitchen next to the second room. $55/night extra. (adjusted in high season.) This is a great chance to experience a taste of alternate living styles in a unique eco-freindly environment. It is located in a pet free widlife sanctuary. We live on solar electricity (with a large supply) and have composting toilets. Everybody tells me this is a very special place so come and judge for yourself. It is so close to everything by car yet silent (apart from the many birds), peaceful and away from the madness of life including electro-magnetic wave pollution. The wi fi is off for most of the day. I only use it for a short period but it is available to you all day if that's what you require. There is no other EMW signals around so when it's off you're EMW free. The space comfortably fits two people. It has a queen bed, good quality cotton sheets, a couch and coffee table, dining table and galley kitchen. Your lovely studio is 6x4.5mts with high pitched ceiling, french doors. stained glass windows and private all round forest views. a veranda with couch and coffee table and a little work/drawing/eating table that looks onto the private patio and forest. It has a quaint compost toilet and 3 sided shower and under the stars 'fire' bath but you also have use of the main bathroom/powder room which is across the garden and the bath-house grotto. The environment suits the able bodied. Guest AccessYou have your own veranda and patio both with eating areas and barbecue on the patio. The room contains a galley kitchen with 4 ring gas cook-top and half size fridge. You have access to the bathhouse and main bathroom (both are separate from the studio) and you may have the choice to have one of them for your own private use if there are no other guests. ($10/ night extra for exclusive use.) You also have an open sided shower that looks onto the forest and a simple but quaint (serviced) compost toilet attached to the studio. You are surrounded by gardens in a beautiful still and peaceful valley only 7-8mins from Mullumbimby. (by car) Interaction with GuestsI will be available for help and advice during your stay. I like my own space but you are very welcome in my home to interact or to do your own thing. If you don't have transport I am happy to give you a lift to town if I'm heading out. I have maps and walking books to lend. I can lend you a map of national parks and walks around the area. Available for hire from a local rental at very good rates or from Coolangatta airport, Ballina and Byron. Restricted bus services from Mullum' are also available to Brunswick Heads and Byron. Other Things to NoteYou will need directions from the main road to the house when your booking is completed. We live on the edge of the forest so expect everything sub-tropical including wildlife and birds. All rooms are separate so you will be provided with a torch for getting around at night.

The SpaceDrive up to the top of the mountain for 3.5kms in an all terrain vehicle . . . or walk. *The road up the mountain is rough so a 4 wheel drive and good driver is necessary to reach the pinnacle*. This is off the beaten track, wild bush mountainous terrain, overlooking the ocean and a deep jungle valley below, surrounded by the inner Pocket Nature Reserve. Experience a fully-equipped off-the-grid, hilltop jungle Safari 1/2 hour from Byron Bay. Wake up to the Golden Sunrise over the vast ocean perched on top of a high ridge line, at the end of a valley in a secret forest overlooking the majestic Pacific; it is called "Kinabalu". This is nature's remedy for a stressed city lifestyle! If pristine walks into old growth forest & wild beautiful nature or swimming in the waterfalls is your thing . . .this is it. You'll also enjoy full connectivity to free internet, a large range of books, well equipped cooking facilities, a yoga deck, and a view that's hard to beat. In the Kyoto Lodge there are two double bed bedrooms. The main suite occupies the whole top floor with its own lounge and bathroom attached, and there is also tiny little loft called 'the nook' above the study in the living area downstairs , with double camping style foam mat trace. In front of the open fire place there's a bed couch big enough for a cozy couple. A shower & toilet is available here with another on it way. The shower is an outdoor garden type built into a tree trunk, or you may like to take an Epsom salt bath inside, in the old antique enamel bathtub. There is a lot of western red cedar timber featured throughout the building which lends a charmingly relaxing Scandinavian touch to your unique Aussie bush adventure! Please note again that this accommodation is RUSTIC, SIMPLE & BOHEMIAN in nature, in a building that is not completely finished at this stage. THIS IS NOT 5 STAR accommodation, though we aim to please, there is still much to do. The photos reflect the attributes of the interior though garden area outside the Kyoto lodge is still very basic and unestablished, with some building materials stacked around the side at this stage, and no sealed pathways. ***Having full mobility is essential for your safety in this environment, and is not suitable for young children without constant adult supervision.*** Looking forward to meeting you! See you at the Kyoto at Kinabalu Farm! Guest AccessIf wild beautiful walks on the mountain, to the waterfall or through old growth forest is your thing, then this is the place. Be prepared as you would as if you are going camping. This is *basic*, *rustic*, cosy, but comfortable, bohemian accommodation. Transport entering at the beginning & end of your stay is provided. It is $50 each way if transport is required to or from Byron Bay or airport and needs to be arranged prior to the day. Interaction with GuestsYou are most welcome to ask any questions . . . If you like adventurous walking tracks through a pristine natural environment. Then this is your ultimate destination. Other Things to NotePlease note the facilities are rustic & simple in an unfinished building. To all intents & purposes this is still a BUILDING SITE. You enter this AT YOUR OWN RISK. Bring your food & comfort requirements, I suggest also an umbrella, a torch, & appropriate walking shoes not to mention some mosquito repellent. Also be aware this is a hand built home constructed on top of a mountain in the middle of dense bush terrain. You enter this wonderful natural reality AT YOUR OWN RISK.
