The SpaceA short walk down a lane way leads you to the tranquil shores of Lake Victoria. The house is ideal for 1 - 4 adults, plus children (sleeping up to about 7). A small cosy, 2 bedroom, free standing cottage - about 40ish years old (ie not a new house. It is an ageing and cherished family holiday house - not a brand new commercial venture). Master bedroom with a queen sized bed and double bunk (sleeps 4). Second bedroom with a double bed and single bunk (sleeps 3). NOTE- the floors of the bedroom are 'spongy' - we are keeping an eye on them - we have replaced the floor in the dining/living area - and sometime in the future have the bedrooms also earmarked. The cottage has 2 toilets. Fully equipped kitchen, with electric oven, microwave, utensils and crockery etc. Dining, Lounge & outdoor settings, BBQ & undercover verandas - back & front. Smoking is not permitted inside. Smoking is permitted on verandas & outside, providing cigarette buts are disposed of sensibly in the rubbish bin. Well behaved pets who don't go in bedrooms and on couches, with responsible owners are welcomed. Families with young children: Please be aware there are bunk beds in this house with ladders. Also the rear BBQ area is raised up about 1 meter, and has rails that are not 'child resistant'. Also there is no fenced in rear yard area suitable for containing children. The rear yard is grassed, but not fenced in. So depending on your children, this may not be an appropriate house for your needs. LOCATION: Loch Sport about an hour CLOSER to Melbourne than Lakes Entrance, and offers the best access to the Gippsland Lakes PLUS the 90 Mile Ocean Beach. PLEASE NOTE You turn of Highway 1 at either Sale or Rosedale, and it takes about an hour to get to Loch Sport. So if you are just driving through, between Melbourne, to Eden or Sydney, this location may not the be best for your needs. Wattle Grove Cottage is only 250 meters - less than 5 minutes walk through a large house block sized reserve to the sheltered waters of Lake Victoria, with its boating, fishing and sandy lake swimming. From the beach you get among the very best sunset views anywhere from the lakes beach looking to the Great Dividing Mountain Range. 10 minutes push bike ride or 5 minutes drive to the stunning 90 mile surf beach. In Loch Sport you often see kangaroos on front lawns, and parrots in the trees. Short distance to Marina and Hotel complex, and to general stores/bakery/take away food shops, etc. Guest AccessYou have access to the entire house, (except for one locked cupboard. The house is set up for our family gatherings, with a fully equipped kitchen including microwave and electric oven and outside BBQ. Sheets for the beds can be provided for an additional $40 to cover their laundry costs. Alternatively, provide your own sheets to save this cost. Interaction with GuestsThis is a holiday house, and I live over 3 hours away. However I have many friends and contacts in Loch Sport, if you need anything arranged. The NeighborhoodLoch Sport is located on an reclusive sand spit between the 90 mile Ocean beach and the sheltered southern shores of Lake Victoria, part of the most extensive lake systems in Australia, known as Gippsland Lakes. Loch Sport is the only town which offers the best access to the deep Lake system of Gippsland, combined with one of the shortest walks to the Ninety Mile Ocean Beach and is surrounded by National and Coastal Parkland. "In August to November when the park is at its best, catch the spectacular show of wildflowers and one of the best display of native orchids in Australia" (Parks Victoria). Kanagroos abound in front yards throughout Loch Sport, while flashes of color amaze from the diversity of Australian Birds and Parrots. Keep an eye out for a glimpse of Koalas in the trees, the pod of local Dolphins in Lake Victoria, and on a quite and sunny day (especially in Winter) the odd Seal sunning themselves on the Ocean beach. In the shallows of the Lake watch out for sea horses and shrimp, and other wonders of the water. The Lakes provide a perfect venue for water based holiday activities - from toddlers splashing in the shallows of the Lake, to surf fishing in the ocean, ideal for wind surfing, dingy and trailer sailing, cruising, water skiing, lake and ocean fishing. As well as golf, there is mini golf, tennis, lawn bowls and RSL, with Marina and Hotel facilities nearby. Unlike Lakes Entrance which is serviced by Highway No1 through its center, Loch Sport has no through traffic, and is on gentle undulating land with a quiet small holiday village atmosphere (almost like a time warp back to 20 years ago), surrounded by native parks, making it ideal for children and adults for cycling, walking and nature watching (ie birds, kangaroos, koalas). Just the place to escape from our hectic modern day life style, and relax and enjoy the simpler pleasures of life.

The SpaceMy house is an older brick cottage which has been tastefully renovated and is homely and comfortable. The bedroom is adjoined by a private sitting room with TV and also opens onto a covered courtyard. Location is a feature here as my house is just minutes from the shops and river walk. Free on site parking. Guest AccessLounge room, bathroom and separate toilet are for sole private use of guests. The courtyard is shared with me. Tea and coffee making facilities are available in the guests sitting room. Breakfast is served in my kitchen. Interaction with GuestsI will be present during the guests' stay. Each stay is on it's own merit. Some guests like to interact quite a bit, others not. I am flexible with the guests' preferences. A generous continental breakfast is included - fruit, cereal, yoghurt, toast, tea coffee. The NeighborhoodI love my neighbourhood because it is friendly and the location means ease of access to everything. Guests should definitely explore our Mitchell River walking track, see our town and visit the Gippsland Lakes, Paynesville, Metung, Bruthen, Lakes Entrance and ocean beaches all within half an hour's drive. Further afield and comfortable day trips are the Buchan Caves, Omeo in the hills, Marlo and the fascinating Den of Nargan further up the Mitchell River. Getting AroundTown is accessible on foot but further than that requires a car. We have a train service to and from Melbourne each day and I would happily pick up and deliver guests to and from the railway station. Other Things to NoteBairnsdale has a colony of Grey Headed Flying Foxes along the river which I think are fascinating. Great opportunities to photograph them and other wildlife right here.

Interaction with GuestsWe don't live nearby so I will give you the code for the key safe which is in the electricity metre box and inside the safe you will find the house key. This code gets changed regularly so I'll give it to you a week before your arrival. The NeighborhoodThe neighbourhood is very quiet and peaceful, even in the middle of summer. The beach is only a few minutes walk through the scrubby paths and often you have the whole beach to yourself. It's especially beautiful in winter.
